This restaurant was clearly popular with Cantonese speakers, which I took as a good sign. The dim sum was consistently good, and I enjoyed everything I tried. I'd happily return on a future visit to Birmingham.

Authentic Chinese and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Service was really bad though as dishes came out randomly and they missed two rice dishes. Also took ages to sort the bill out.

We went to this well-established Cantonese restaurant, which we often visit and have always enjoyed, for a Chinese New Year meal with friends today. However, we only realized after paying the bill that the service charge had been increased from 10% to 15% without any prior notice. While I understand that staff may receive higher wages during traditional Chinese holidays, the restaurant also benefits from increased business during this festive period. Therefore, the additional cost should not be entirely passed on to customers without prior notice. I believe that any change in service charges should be clearly communicated in advance to ensure transparency in the dining experience. I hope the restaurant can improve in this regard so that customers can make informed decisions about their spending.

We came in and our water arrived timely however we waited for an hour and 10 minutes and our food hadn't arrived and other tables who have just come in after us had received their food quicker. This is a bad bad experience. Very unhappy and the food was not even cooked properly.

We waited more than 30 minutes for our food idk if they missed our order but after talking with the server who served us , the lady quickly went to the kitchen !!! Just beside the big table who came after us was served quickly within 10 minutes of arrival . Food is always delicious but look after small table of 2 people as well.

I was traveling with someone who lived in the UK. He missed the food in Hong Kong, so he went to China Pavilion for tea. There are a lot of people on Sundays. We arrived after 1:30, and a table had just become available. If we had come earlier, we might have had to wait for a long time. I ordered fried rice rolls, steamed chicken rice, steamed dumplings, siomai, fresh bamboo rolls, etc. The siomai was okay, but the others were average, but it is also a very good choice in the UK.

Salad prawn wedges ~ I was pleasantly surprised when I ate it for the first time. The prawns were big enough, fried to a crispy outside and spicy on the inside. Beef Rice Roll Rice Roll ~ Let’s order 3 rice rolls first👍🏽! The last time I ate there, I was actually told that there were 3 rice rolls! ? Stewed Beef Stew with Radish ~ Zuo Shi ordered the radish first, but the radish had no taste, but the beef stew was good! It would be perfect if the radish had a little more flavor! How good the other food tastes!

Always great coming here for dim sum

This restaurant is truly outstanding! Whether it is the choice of dishes or the level of service, everyone is very satisfied. Each dish is delicious in color, aroma and taste, showing the chef's exquisite skills and careful selection of ingredients. The environment is also very comfortable, making people feel a pleasant dining experience. Whether you are having a dinner party or entertaining guests, this is a very recommended place.

Arrogant owner who got upset when we didn’t want to pay for service charge. Basically saying that if we don’t pay for service we are not welcome to dine here. Shocking!! Food was already quite pricey compared to other places (bear in mind their website prices are incorrect) Food was mediocre, nothing that stood out. Also found hair in the plate and small hairs on the table. We still were kind about it until the comment about don’t come back if you don’t pay for service! I don’t think they realise that they are not the only Chinese restaurant in town!! Ruined our evening.

Went with the old man for Dim Sum Actually really good, the Si Mai, was big and delicious along with the special chow mein, which has roast duck and char sui bits. Around £45 for about 5 dishes.

The food is always great at China Court. It’s always very busy so the staff are running around and not always the most attentive, but for anyone who has been to Hong Kong, this is pretty normal and the food is what really matters.

Lunar new years day and it was packed. We ordered our dim sum and it came out timely, delicious. Well presented, large portions and extremely tasty. The team was on point today as well. Service with a smile. China court is our usual dim sum place to go. 5 stars, well deserved. == Review 2: terrible food today 21/7/24. Food ran out around 130 pm!Two of my dishes were out. OK, no problem. Then they got a big dish wrong. They made it again and there were no meat with the hoi fun. It's literally called mixed meat hoi fun! Wrong rice dish with no char siu. Replaced with duck bones, didnt tell us. The whole rice dish was just bones, see new photo for comparison. Soy chicken and duck, all bones. Shocking. 1 star.

We went for lunch to celebrate a birthday and they got one dish completely wrong, and totally forgot to bring another one we ordered. Some dishes were brought out with a huge time delays (45 mins) between each delivery to the table, meaning other dishes, like rice, got cold, and some of the party had to sit around waiting watching everyone else eat. I had to ask the waiters several times throughout the meal where our food was and they said they would go and check and then never came back. The waiters were polite and it was but busy, but observing them they seemed like headless chickens. The main dishes they brought tasted okay, but my partner and child who had lemonade and egg friend rice (they don't like any other Chinese food but came because it was a family event) were sick and had diarrhea straight after. Could be a coincidence but the fact they both felt ill within the time frames after the meal into the evening tells a story. It's a shame really because we have had a few nice meals in China Court over the years, but after today's experience, we definitely won't be going back any time soon and cannot recommend this restaurant unless things improve drastically.

100% Hong Kong restaurant feel and taste! The greeting was very attentive and appreciated! The taro wedges are so crispy and the golden belly is so delicious! There are parking spaces, and you can also choose to isolate the multi-storey parking lot, which is very convenient❤️

Visited in the afternoon on bank holiday. it is already filled with lots of people. Good queue management, you can ask for a ticket to queue for getting in. The barbecue pork and duck is amazing. Great food tou cannot complaint.

The dim sum is basically good except for the mangosteen beef, fried rice, fried noodles, etc. which are hit or miss.

They managed to redeem themselves, it was busy again today, but service was decent and we got everything we ordered

2024.03.27 There is only one entrance, no elevator, only stairs, which is inconvenient for the elderly or people with limited mobility! Therefore, I brought 4 suitcases with me the day before yesterday, but I didn't patronize it, so I tried it today. The food quality is acceptable, but there are not many types of food!

Authentic dim sum restaurant with a variety of options. It seems that the quality of food is getting much better compared to my previous dining experiences there. One of the best in town at the moment. Hope that they will keep going like this. No lift though!

It tastes terrible. After waiting for a long time, the waiter knocked over the tea cup and left the water on the table without even saying sorry? How can there be Cantonese food that I can’t even understand how to make rice rolls, shrimp dumplings and glutinous rice😅

叫了燒賣, 蝦餃, 流沙包及叉燒腸粉。除了流沙包外，其他食物均大失所望。 流沙包的包較硬，但餡料好味。 燒賣皮太硬，而且味道較淡。 蝦餃還可，但味道也是淡。 腸粉的皮太厚，包得不均勻，而且叉燒煮得太乾身，醃得也不入味。埋單後，感覺口很乾，相信是用了平價味精, 腸粉的豉油質素不好導致。 We ordered Siu mai, Shrimp dumplings, Yellow custard bun and steamed rice roll with BBQ pork. Except Yellow custard bun, all food made us very disappointed. The buns were made to hard, but the custard tasted great. Siu Mai wrappers were quite stiff and the favour was relatively pale. Shrimp dumplings' favour was also relatively light. Rice roll's wrappers were too thick and unevenly wrapped. BBQ porks were overcooked and the taste was not good at all. After bill, our mouth were dry because they use cheap MSG and the quality of soy sauce of that steamed rice roll was bad, to the best of our knowledge.

Went here yesterday at about 5pm. We didn't book and got a table straightaway. Good service, things took a while to arrive but we didn't mind as there were already quite a few people in and it was filling up fast. Food was well-cooked and reasonably priced. We'll definitely go back if we're out and just fancy some food. Recommended the duck with ginger and spring onion.

Still one of my favourite dim sum places here in Brum. Quality ingredients and well-made dim sums. It can get a bit busy during weekend lunch service, but it’s worth the wait. Highly recommend.

The best in Brum for authentic dim sum, pricey with service charge. but this is where the aunts and uncles come that can cook come to eat and gossip. Noisy and chaotic environment and full of Chinese people. Love the cheung fun, dry fried beef ho fun , har gow. There are other places that do dim sum but they are the most consistent and have most tables. Don’t expect service as not many staff at the reception due to the busyness of the place and westerners will be put off from the lack of front reception. It takes 30 minutes to fill up 40 tables and full so do not expect a table at lunchtime.

I'm a regular diner here. Having lived in HK for nearly 3 decades I'd rate it as a very good level. It's always busy , never quiet, and has a buzz associated with this type of restaurant. The G/F bakery has delightful cake & savoury takeaway offerings as well . The service is generally OK but can be frustratingly slow as experienced last Sat night. Our meal took over 60 mins to arrive... but it was good when it did!! Apologies from management were accepted. It's a favourite choice with our family.. Thank you.

We came here after a day in Birmingham and bumped into a couple of friends who were heading to the theatre. We joined them at a larger table. They have been coming here for years so knew the waiters. Food was nice and not too quick, which is sometimes worrying. The only thing I thought was strange was that they couldn’t split the orders/bill, as we hadn’t arranged to meet our friends so we were happy to get our own food. Instead we got an itemised receipt which we went halves with anyway. It just seemed odd that they couldn’t do this, as we can’t be the first to ask for it.

I queued around 1045am on a sunday , there were quite a lot people queuing before the restaurant start. The deep fried croquette which is made of taro and deep fried savoury croquettes are quite nice! Yet , fried soft noodles is not the one I had in Hong Kong

The best dim sum I’ve had so far in the UK, even better than in London. We ordered 8 dishes and it cost us only 25£ each. The portion was just right, and the filling especially the prawns were hearty. I don’t know what to recommend in particular, but if you look at my photos, you can order them all and won’t be disappointed! Great service, beautiful decoration, clean toilet!

Been China Court for nearly 12 years. Food is always great but sadly staff & service despicable. As a Chinese I know how food should be served & in what order. You wouldn't have noodles served first then won ton soup later? Ming the waiter argued with me so we left & went to Chung Ying which were far more experienced & professional. Will never go China Court again, they don't deserve my money.

You can’t go wrong with Peking Duck at a Chinese restaurant. The duck was so juicy and the skin was crispy just the way I like it. Sauteed veggie dishes were too oily and spicy for me so I wouldn’t recommend them. The chicken had an eastern medicine taste to it which I did not care for. The tea was amazing after a cold day in Birmingham though!

這個中國酒樓位於伯明翰華人街裡,中華閣位於2楼上,座於窗旁可遛覽街外的景色。今天我們晚上七時多才到達,晚市點心只供應至六時,故今次我們未能品嚐到這裡優質的點心,總覺有點遺憾,只好期望下次再來。 這裡燈光充足,還加上有些彩色射燈的照射,給予顧客們十分舒暢愉快的氣氛,而且地方寬闊,枱與枱的空間寬敞,沒有其他餐廳背靠背的壓迫感。 我們今次點了豆腐斑腩煲,生炒排骨,揚州炒飯和星洲炒米粉,這些都是基本酒樓的菜色,這裡食物的出品還是在水準以上,未嘗令人失望,這都是中華閣成功的地方。不像有些酒樓連這個基本菜式也做得不好,斑腩有些魚醒味,令人胃口大減。中華閣的豆腐斑腩夠新鮮,汁料洽到好處,生炒排骨甜酸可口。揚州炒飯和星洲炒米粉料頭充足,夠獲氣,不失為一間令人回味無窮的中式酒樓。

My husband and I visit this restaurant for dim sum on the occasional times we go to birmingham. We go at lunch times/afternoons.We always have dim sum which is delicious and order far too much. 8 items and tea cost us £35.The staff are efficient and the dining area spacious. Staff don't engage in chit chat, it's a very straightforward service but that suits is fine.

We had Dim Sum there. great selection of food, and most of it well prepared and tasty. Some found the squid a bit too chewy. But like I wrote last time, the service was inattentive. Yes, they took our order and brought the food, but I don't expect to have to ask for teapots to be topped up, or for empty plates to be taken away.And most of the staff waiting at tables didn't look at all happy. Time for some customer service training?

We had a family dinner for relatives from Australia, Canada and Malaysia. Good food with good service. Food could have been served faster though as our last dish came after most of us had finished the rice.

Used to be a good Chinese that delivered, just had one tonight won tons were just a load of pastry no fillings and all stuck together, pancake roll was full of grease, what should of been spare ribs was a mix of chicken wings and ribs! Shame we won’t going there again!

For a few years we had been going to Shanghai Shanghai for dim sum on an occasional basis and one day we found it had changed hands and dim sum wasn't on offer any more. We went in the local supermarket and asked where we could get dim sum and they told us China Court. What a good find. The downstairs is a cake shop and upstairs is the restaurant and it's quite large.It was very busy when we went during the day - clean and bright with lots of natural daylight. You are given an order sheet and you tick what you want from the menu. The waiter takes you order to the kitchen and your food comes out ti the table as it is ready ..... you don't get everything at the same time which is normal when you have dim sum.The food was hot and tasted good and the service was prompt.As with most Chinese eateries, the staff are quite sullen and there is certainly no chit chat. They just want your order, give you the food, you pay and go.That's ok by me ...... because I only want to eat and go.The prices are fair and I would definitely go again.

Fui allí con mi esposo y mis dos hijos hace un par de días mientras nos dirigíamos al Centro Sealife en Birmingham. Pedimos una buena selección de platos de dim sum y fideos fritos. Me sorprendió la variedad de platos que tenían, algunos eran muy oscuros como la pasta de durian (¡increíble!). Todos nuestros platos estaban muy bien hechos deliciosos, especialmente los fideos crujientes de carne estofada. Mi única crítica fue las albóndigas del Dragón Shanghainés que se cocieron al vapor en pequeñas tazas de aluminio. La base de albóndigas de pasta se pegó a las tazas, por lo que el centro líquido se filtró mientras intentábamos sacarlas de las tazas. Aparte de eso, todos fueron geniales.En cuanto al precio, cada plato no era barato (a la par con los precios de Londres) pero estábamos dispuestos a pagar por estos platos que no estarían disponibles en nuestra ciudad natal.La pastelería de abajo también merece una visita. Tienen algunos de los mejores bollos de cóctel que he comido, ¡suaves, esponjosos y sabrosos! Sin embargo, solo aceptan efectivo.En general, una gran experiencia y sin duda volveremos a visitar.

Staff pleasant and welcoming apart from elderly male staff who was abrupt and moody. Food was delicious apart from the steamed spare ribs which were very tiny minute ribs! Won't be ordering that again.

We were there for Dim Sum, on a Saturday lunchtime. enjoying a family celebration. Food was good, and a good selection of fish/shellfish dishes. But service has been better. We asked for a larger teapot (we were a group of 8) but didn't get one. And when we asked one of the waiters to top up the small one up with hot water, he referred us to another waiter. Empty dishes remained on the table for a long time.

This restaurant was a recommendation from family and didn't disappoint. We order a set meal for 4 although there was 5 of us 4 adults and a teen. There was more than enough food. The selection of dishes looked great, smelt awesome and tasted fantastic.

First time I went here was because someone had recommended it to me as "it feels like a drive-thru karaoke restaurant" -- a slightly peculiar recommendation you'd have to admit but once someone has said that to you, you have to check it out.

7 of us went sunday midday (normal place had closed down) - it was, of course really busy on a sunday morning but we didn't wait for a table. Service was a bit slow but they warned us and actually it wasn't that bad and the jasmine tea kept coming .. so was fine. Full of Chinese people which i always think is a good sign.

A nearby Chinese restaurant didn't want our custom (we were just two and they were looking for larger tables) so we arrived at the China Court. Good luck really.

Disfruté visitando este restaurante varias veces durante al menos 10 años cuando estaba muy ocupado, la comida era excelente y el servicio estaba bien, pero parece muy tranquilo y la comida ahora es simplemente mediocre, el servicio era pobre y la decoración era insípida y sosa. Los camareros también se quedan mirándote y pinchando sus bolígrafos de manera molesta, ¡una vez hubo 3 de ellos haciéndolo, lo que hizo que mi compañero se desesperara y les pidió a los 3 que se detuvieran! No volveré a visitar de nuevo.
