I don't generally give places a second chance after a poor experience, however, the guy I spoke to seemed to be genuinely remorseful about my previous order, si I gave them a second chance. I'm glad I did! Food was hot, fresh, tasty and delivered on time.

Reviews seemed really good so we have just placed an order to which everything got thrown away! The shashlik smelt and tasted vinegary ... To which was obviously gone off roasted veg... Maybe even the chicken. The chips and nan bread was solid and cold. The chicken sag tasted like the chicken was a couple of days old... Not fresh at all. Very disappointed and will never order from here again. Vile is the word I'm looking for and I wouldn't even give it to a homeless person

Excellent food as always. It's been a while since we had a night out and this was our first pick for food. Staff are polite and attentive and I would highly recommend the Banjara Kebab starter but to be honest, everything is good.

Really gutted the food just wasn't what we expected from the reviews. Not sure if this is a takeaway issue? Maybe the food is fresher in the restaurant? The curry I ordered was so greasy, you could see the oil pooling and the texture was slippery and really unpleasant. The layer of spice and herbs just wasn't there like you would expect from authentic Indian cuisine. Never a fan of chips but they were awful, wrinkly, no potato content, greasy and cold. The chicken was 50/50, some breast meat but some thigh meat mixed in which I just wouldn't expect in the dish I ordered. The lamb was also inconsistent, some pieces tender but others chewy. Credit where it's due the seekh were lovely and soft and very tasty. The tikka masala was the strangest colour I've ever seen, not sure why? If ordering takeaway I would stick to the kebab in naan, chicken and seekh not lamb. Sadly the free onion bhajis were so dry, maybe make them smaller and serve 4 instead of 2 large dry ones. On the plus side delivery was on point and the driver was very polite.

Food is excellent if you can get order to work on website, they must have lost ££££ from me alone as website freezes and won't allow you to complete order, also the free stuff they advertise for registered customers doesn't happen.

Christmas Dinner Most of my family had Indian food, which was terrific as usual. My 96 year old mum and I had traditional, which we really enjoyed. We had a great time. The staff as always were very attentive. The atmosphere was A1. Price was fabulous. No stress, just get yourself ready and go!

We worsened a takeaway for a special family gathering for Xmas eve. I knew it was going to be busy but it was 2 hours late I kept calling for an update and was told 15 minutes then 6 minutes no food arrived. I was then told it was being cooked It arrived cold poor quality 3 piers of chicken swimming in sauce and uneaten really poor

The food was palatable at best and that is being generous. Both massala and butter chicken tasted like korma. The garlic chapati was covered in ghee and hadn't seen a piece of garlic in its life. Delivery driver was pleasant and professional. We won't be ordering from here again. Gross.

Not been here for a few years but won a raffle prize at Think Pink and Sparkle cancer charity kindly donated by Shabaz. We could not fault the presentation, service and best of all the meals were delicious. Thanks for a great evening, we will return.

The best curry I’ve ever tasted! Lovely restaurant

We have travelled all around the country and have never had Indian food as good as this. It was our local for 29 years & we were offered fantastic food & service every week. We have moved now & the Shahbaaz is the only thing we miss as there is nowhere local that comes anywhere close to their standards! Never let us down.

Hi. I’ve been going to this restaurant for 20 years plus but lately I don’t know if the chef has changed but the food has taken a tumble. My takeaway last night was awful I keep giving it a chance but there’s a time when you have to go elsewhere. So sorry to post this .

My favourite Indian restaurant... Amazing food and the staff are really nice and friendly.

The food was really bad. The worst Chicken Tandoori Masala I ever had( very sweet 🤮and chicken was chewy). Me and my partner got a stomachache, and I had a heavy chest (happens when I eat bad quality food) never coming back

Such a shame. Went early to avoid any rush. Food very nice and service was excellent when it was quiet but it turned into a benny hill sketch as soon as it started to get busy. We ordered coffees and deserts for two and we were handed a bill just short of £20.00 over charged without the coffee and deserts. Pointed it out "oh were so sorry coffee will come" it never did we went the the bar pointed out the errors in the bill it was corrected and we left. Obviously a table of two is not as important as two tables of 8. It's a shame we were so looking to enjoy our anniversary here.

My wife and I had a lovely meal here on Saturday night as we were passing through Boothtown on our narrowboat. We read the reviews and very nearly didn’t go, but thought let’s give it a try. So glad we did. Can’t believe the negative reviews. We had Chicken Chatt and Tandoori Lamb Chops for starter which were delicious! They checked whether we wanted some time between our starter and main course – which we did as we think it is important to have a nice gap between courses. Then they served our Mains – we had Chicken Tikka Pathia and the Exotica Special meal, with various sides. Everything was spot on – absolutely lovely!! The team were lovely too, very polite, efficient and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to go back again sometime soon.

Ordered the Nawabi Lamb, approx £15, it came on a serving platter, the lamb was a grey block, approx 12 cm wide, looked like a small grey malt loaf, must have been cooked by a talented chef, it had every last drop of moisture taken out of it, it looked like it was freezer burnt, the lamb was cut in 1 cm pieces, I picked one up and they were all stuck together at the bottom, like a concertina, it was that dry and hard the chef probably couldn’t get his knife all the way through it. As the 14 year old waiter dropped off my curry, he spilt some of it over my arm shoulder and my friends arm. He smirked, and walked off, a £50 T-shirt ruined, as we complained the young guy was laughing, thought it was funny. If I had the ability of Thanos my fingers would be clicked without hesitation. Avoid like the plague, unless you wear a waterproof poncho, and a chainsaw to cut the food.

Possibly, the worst Indian I’ve ever been to. If my dog was hungry I’d still think twice. Service is possibly better at a park fairground. Highly do not recommend. Lamb was cooked until it was black.

Disappointing ordered collection 7pm collected approx 7.05pm. Garlic nann cold and meal was just warm. No complimentary onion bhajis as mentioned on website when you place your first order.

Placed quite a large delivery order for me and my friends through the website and recieved a confirmation email of our order. 1hour 30mins goes by and we have not yet recieved our order. We rang up just to check where our order was and was told we had only one dish ordered on the system and it was still pending so we had done something wrong on our side, we then explained we recieved a confirmation email of our order and it was multiple curries not just the one they had on their system. We then had a response of, "oh sometimes the system does this". So if that is the case how come we didn't recieve any phone calls or messages about our order? Instead our order was just left pending for the full duration. To top this off we didn't even recieve an apology, or any sort of solution. 1hour 30mins wasted, ordering from elsewhere and won't be returning.

Absolutely shocking, we went on sat for a birthday supper and to be very honest I won't be going again not even if somebody offersed to pay for my meal, my jalfrezi didnt even have onions or peppers in it n I struggled to even find a tomato in my curry sause, our starter chicken pakora was not chicken pakora but a bland chicken nugget like something you would cook yourself at home, sorry but this isnt somewhere i would recommend to a friend for a munch, stick to tamarind table if u live in atherton as its a much better place to eat n food is fantastic, dave hook @ being honest .com

Have just moved to Boothstown so wanted to give this place a try. Great service with very friendly staff. Good portions generous and all the food was really tasty - the mixed starter was great, some of the nicest Onion Bhaji I’ve ever had. Really reasonable prices too! Will certainly be back soon!

The food tonight was superb. Fast delivery, fresh, tasty & hot. I’m looking forward to ordering again.

What is wrong with this restaurant ? If you dine inside it is superb. I have never had a bad curry from here in twenty odd years of visiting. However if you have a takeaway it is a different matter. They range from just about average to totally inedible and the inedible one that I had tonight was the straw that broke the camels back. Do they have one chef to cook the restaurant meals and another totally untrained one to do the takeaways ? I hate to complain about this place but enough is enough. Am I wrong to order on a Monday because you would think you would get fresh food when it it is quiet ? Instead it seems you are served the weekends leftovers. The popadoms were soggy , the chapati was soggy , probably due to it being served in a plastic bag rather than foil. The chicken was as tough as old boot leather and while the curry sauce and chips were just about ok , I expect a decent full meal for this price. Also that's another thing. If you ever try ordering through Just Eat , don't expect to be able to complain or get a full refund as it's impossible. They are as bad as the restaurants they use.

Took my family here over Christmas. 8 of us had a fantastic meal, great atmosphere, with pleasant and helpful staff. From the papadoms which were crisp and greasy to the starters (Lamb Chops) were perfection to the Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi it was an awesome meal. Bottle of wine was given as a regular customer. Highly recommend this as a local Indian restaurant. Go and try it today, you will not be disappointed.

Everytime I enter this place, its always a place i can call home. Very vibrant and staff always let me leave with a smile on my face. Food is 10/10 and i absolutely addicted. Interior is great aswell keeping place clean and fresh ready for the customers. Highly recommend!!

Horrific takeaway. Both curries were completely laden with vinegar/lemon juice & were inedible. I’ve never tasted anything so bad. I rang to let them know & was offered a free madras; never again. We eat Indian food every week. Something went terribly wrong in the kitchen tonight

Have been eating in and ordering takeout from Shahbaaz for years, it is without a date one of the best indian restaurants we have ever eaten from. The curries are simply beautiful, personal favourite a Pathia.. superb spicing, consistency and a real kick from the chilli's.. We have moved away from the area but make a point of visiting whenever we are nearby it's that good.

I'll give it four stars but only because I had good service and we should support small businesses...the food was definitely not 4-star worthy. The butter chicken is the worst thing I've ever tasted. Truly a dish straight from the depths of hell. I knew from the smell alone that this was going to be atrocious. I opened the box and the curry is some weird pink colour, looking like some dish soap ready to inflict pure damage. I wouldn't even order it for my worst enemy. The prawn puri was decent, nothing special. Too much of a tomato taste for my liking but the puri was good at least. In fact, the only things that were good were the puris and chapatis, but you can't really go wrong with them. In conclusion, I still have nightmares about the Shahbaaz and I've had to go therapy because I keep smelling that butter chicken wherever I go.

Ive been going here 25 years but tonight the food delivered by Deliveroo from shabaaz was Vile . Chick Tika Madras that was like water & something out of a tin. Whole meal went in bin. I cast reservations if this even came from the Shabaaz . Well Shabaaz youve lost my 25 yr custom & Deliveroo has been deleted. John Tyldesley

What a jem. Wonderful service, spotless! My husband had the Lamb chops and they kindly made me a Rashmi starter (which wasn't even on their menu) for our main course I had their Garlic Chicken and hubby had the Chef speciality Lamb with a lamb mince, absolutely fabulous, so very tasty. Our breads were by far the nicest breads, so very light and incredibly tasty. We managed to eat the lot! There was no way that we could leave anything as it was so very good. After 30 minutes my mouth is still dancing with wonderful array of flavours. Well Done Shahbaaz, we shall mist definitely return.

My husband and I ordered a take away through just eat. We live locally and have visited here many times. Food has always been lovely. Our food arrived in record time. 20 mins. Greasy chips. Dry hard rice. My tikka masla was gritty and looked/tasted like a packet of chicken had been thrown in. My husband ordered a chef's special which was 10 pound. The lamb was tough like old boots. Even our dog gave up. Never again. This place has lost my custom.

Been to shahbaaz many times. Food amazing, staff very welcoming nothing to much trouble. I don't live in boothstown anymore, but still love to go when we are in the area.

Update 24.8.21 - I see on the news that Tom Cruise has just eaten chicken tikka masala at an Indian restaurant in Birminghan - he ordered seconds, it was so good. Obviously not tasted it at Shabaaz! Delicious!

I Love a curry and try one wherever I travel to in England, never quite as good as Shahbaaz. I have eaten here for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Eat in, take away or deliveries, they have got your back! Be sure to try stuff from the specials board they have up from time to time! RECOMMEND!

Been going to the Shahbaaz for 30 years and its the best curry house I've ever been to. And I've been to plenty. It's the first place I go to when I've been away and all my family, children and grandchildren love it. Even have Christmas dinner there on occasions. Nothing is ever too much for Sana and the staff and you can always ask for a little bit hotter or milder. Love the recent classy refurb.

As a veggie I ordered a paneer curry, which turned out to be melted (standard English) cheddar cheese, and not chunks of the traditional Indian cheese. Curry sauce tasted good and all OK otherwise, but melted cheddar isn't an authentic Indian ingredient so giving just 3 stars. What a shame! There's nothing else on the menu for veggies with a decent protein source apart from dahl, so you can't get a balanced meal here (if you're like me protein is necessary or you come away feeling hungry). Would be great to see proper paneer and maybe a few more vegetarian dishes on the menu (including protein - not just veg! - e.g. chana curries etc). It is a shame this restaurant assumes their customers don't know what paneer is.
