Shad Takeaway in Canterbury

We always liked the Shad Restaurant, reckoned it was the best Indian in Herne Bay and Whitstable combined, and have really missed it since it closed. At last we got round to trying their new takeaway - and the food is great! Quite a few of the specials they used to do are available. We don’t often do takeaways, but from now on that’s the one we’ll be using.

Ordered from this takeaway at 6.30pm sitting here at 8.30pm and still not arrived. Phoned several times the woman was rude dismissive and unhelpful. Appalling service especially as this is our go to Indian takeaway As frequent customers one would expect better service especially spending just under £40 worth of food!

This Indian takeaway is, in my opinion, the best we've ever experienced. I've ordered from here approximately 10 to 15 times! It's become our go-to choice for takeout at home. I usually go to pick up the food, and the staff there are incredibly friendly and enthusiastic about discussing their dishes. They even kindly invited me to take a look at their kitchen, an offer I gladly accepted. Upon visiting, I noticed that the salads were neatly prepared, and all ingredients were fresh, prepared with a family recipe. Our usual order includes a butter chicken dish, pilau rice, Peshwari naan, tandoori mix, and poppadum's.

Was ok, nothing to write home about, better than most around here but nothing compared to London curry. Thats it, I now give up and I’ll make it myself. Fed up spending good money fro rubbish. Masala bay springs to mind.. Adios Indian restaurant in Kent..

Really poor food. Tasteless and made without using fresh ingredients. Really surprised as it had such positive reviews and so felt i had to share our experience. Staff appeared nice though

It's not often you find a gem when eating out away from your normal takeaways at home. We ordered here on the back of 4.8 out of 5, and it's absolutely spot on. Ordered from Just Eat, but better to order inside for 10%. Food was plentiful, hot and aromatic. Best tandoori chicken we've ever had! Reasonable prices. If I lived in Herne Bay, I would be eating from here often.

Excellent food! Well packed and reasonable portions for money paid! I Ordered from Justeat and thought I would give it a try. I will be ordering more often now.

We’ve been using the Shad since it opened and it is now our favourite takeaway. Everything that we order is cooked to perfection , tasty and hot.
