Nick

We regularly visit seven bees for a leisurely sunday brunch. Its a small quaint operation, with one man working in a small kitchen, so don't expect an express bite. That said, it's always worth the wait, and gives you time to enjoy the conversation.A must for a lazy sunday!

The seven bees Didn't really need another gushing review, but it is getting one anyway. Quite simply they produce the best "full English" I have ever had in a cafe, restaurant or hotel anywhere ever. And I am very very fussy. There. Short and sweet. just VISIT

Its not a smart place - its not dirty but its down-to-earth, even scruffy. Its not open every day. Its likely you will need to wait a while for your breakfast to be cooked. Then when the breakfast arrives in front of you - its clear what makes this place popular with locals. The Seven Bees guys know how to cook a great breakfast from quality ingredients, that's generously portioned and delicious and good value too. Always lovely for bacon and sausages, eggs cooked just-right, tasty mushrooms.

I visited the Seven Bees café after reading an article in The Guardian newspaper about the best cheap eats / breakfast places in Brighton. As I was on a football trip to see Bolton lose so I needed a full English to brighten up my day, even if that was before the game..!Having found the place tucked away down some very narrow streets the seven or so tables were all occupied, however I asked some fellow diners if I could join them. I put my order in after being seated for 5 minutes and then waited, waited and waited. First came my cup of tea, after about 15 minutes. My fellow diners had also been waiting an age, which we had a good natured joke about. None of us wanted to order more tea/coffee in case this delayed our food longer. My fellow diners' breakfasts arrived and they looked good; they said the sausage was fantastic, I considered ordering a couple extra for my big breakfast, but the wait/time fear factor got the better of me. Anyhow my fellow diners left and I was joined by a Japanese tourist, whom I advised the service was very slow and he would have to prepared to wait a long time for his order. My full English breakfast arrived 50 minutes after giving my order, yes it was good with quality ingredients. When I lived in the UK I was used to these breakfasts being served after 5-10 minutes, so this 50 minute wait somewhat spoilt my enjoyment of my first full English in many years.

The way we ended up at the seven bee's (been twice as we're from colchester visiting brighton) was my girlfriend saying she had been to this really good cafe (Wasn't the seven bee's) we went in and i was blown away by the food! The cafe as everyone says is hidden away down an alley way just by chocy woccy doo-dah (thats a mouthful..) it is a tiny little cafe with 5 tables and not much space, often end up sharing the table with other customers if it is busy! You have a fairly simple choice, how hungry are you, THere is a big breakfast, bigger breakfast, biggest breakfast (Guess which i ate) there is also pancakes and other breakfast items but why would you?The biggest breakfast consists of ingredients all sourced locally (where possible) and they are:- Baked beans (I need to explain?)- Black pudding ( I hate black pudding but even i ate some of this stuff!)- Thick toast- A couple of eggs- big strips of bacon- Mushrooms- Tomatoes- Sausage (Best sausage ever!)Orange juice is all freshly squeezed, You may end up waiting 20-30 minutes for your food, but it is all being cooked from scratch in a little kitchen so the wait is excusable! You will end up paying about £8-10 for breakfast and a juice/tea/coffee which is bloody reasonable considering what you are getting! To sum up. If you live in brighton or visit brighton, visit this cafe for breakfast you will love it!! it's not that hard to find, it is about 2 minutes walk from the Wetherspoons (the big glass building)I would have added a photo but i ate the food to quickly!!

What the hecks all the hype about !! Four of us went here whilst on a weekend, sought it out because of the good reviews. A bit of a mission to find, tucked away down an alley(and where it should stay,in my opinion ). A scruffy run down premises in need of some TLC. All this would have been fine if the food was good and the waitress didn't spend most of her time raking sleep from the corners of her eyes in between buttering the bread !! I left a potato Latke(a light crispy Rosti like pancake. NOT!!) because the two cooks were examining closely. And I deemed them suspect. When it arrived on my plate I thought it looked more like something aDung Beetle would roll. All in all, an experience I would not like to repeat. There a many fab places for breakfast in Brighton and this is not one of them.

We've always walked past Seven Bees not given it two thoughts but today we decided to try this hidden beauty. It's tucked away down a small ally just off ship street, the aromas of a fry up draw you in nearer and nearer until you reach a tiny yellow fronted cafe.Inside there are only 7-8 tables. We sat down an a friendly member of staff took out order. We were both pleasantly surprised by how good the quality of the cappuccino's were, seeing as it was a 'cafe'. We watched in awe as plate after plate of freshly cooked breakfasts left the kitchen until 2 of those plates were placed in front of us. We only ordered the Big Breakfast which consisted of bacon, sausage, egg, beans and toast with extras of mushrooms, fried slice and black pudding. There are 3 sizes of Big breakfasts and all very good value for money. The food didn't feel heavy, greasy or stodgy and everything was very well cooked.Looking forward to returning to Seven Bees.

I probably pop into this place once every 2 months. Its always good, food quality is high, value for money is excellent and the coffee's great. Just a tiny place really and can be tricky to find if you don't know the area, but if you're after a great fry-up and want to grab a newspaper then I would highly recommend.

Went here for a late breakfast after reading reviews on here. Had the best American pancakes I've had outside of America, with delicious crispy bacon. The potato latkes were an unusual, but nice, addition to the meal. I had the biggest cup of coffee I've had in my life, and it was proper bean to cup coffee. Nice friendly staff. Worth seeking out.

Visited on the first morning of our stay after reading good reviews on trip advisor & then went every morning after, (except Weds when they are closed). Tried the porridge, big breakfast, poached eggs etc, and all were excellent. Not a problem to change or add items to your breakfast order. Free wi-fi and morning papers. Excellent.

We were the first ever customers here in December 2009 and despite living over 200 miles away we come here for breakfast every time we come to Brighton. No one cooks a breakfast like Iain, the porridge is so creamy, the eggs are large and golden and tasty and everything is cooked to order, worth waiting for. Will not comment on the pancakes as I don't want them all eaten before I get there! Nuff said x

This place is tiny, no more than about 7 tables & 4 staff. It looked like a hidden gem but I was disappointed. We ordered out breakfasts & had to wait around an hour for it to arrive. Are drinks took about 20 minutes too & with that amount of staff I couldn't understand why it took so long. The breakfast was good when it finally arrived but some things were missing & are experience was ruined. I wouldn't go back in a hurry. Think it's time they moved on from there headline "voted best breakfast in 2010"

Seven Bees - so called because you can get a Big Breakfast, a Bigger Breakfast, the Biggest Breakfast or a vegetarian Breakfast. Count the B's!Much more interesting than the fact that you'll find this lovely, cosy cafe at No. 7B Ship Street. The food is sourced locally, very fresh and comes on a piping hot plate. We came here on a cold morning at 10.30 am, had a big breakfast and a mug of earl grey and left feeling like we were ready to swim the Channel. Get there quickly before the owner/chef decides to relocate back to Spain. This place is a little gem.Don't forget to visit the bathroom, where you'll be a better man than me if you can turn off the hot water. But don't worry - help is just round the corner!

What a great find, down a little back alley. I had the big breakfast with 2 eggs, I asked for runny eggs and when I cut into them my only regret was that i didn't order extra toast to mop up that dark yellow yolk an bean sauce. We have now found our local cafe when we are in Brighton.

Delicious breakfast very reasonably priced with friendly staff. We were staying on the same hidden away lane & on both days it was busy so I can only assume it's popular with the locals! I had the Bigger Breakfast (Big & Biggest also available) & it was just what the doctor ordered for my hangover! Lots of other choices available too as well as a "build your own". Only downside is that it's pretty small so when people were getting in & out with buggies or a wheelchair some reorganisation was required!

As good as breakfasts get. This was a lucky find for us and probably most people who havent been before. It is set down a narrow alleyway just back from the seafront. New it was going to be good because it was so full. We were lucky to get a seat so quickly as someone was leaving and so quickly scanned the menu and ordered. I had the bigger breakfast, my gf had poached eggs and salmon. We both had freshly squeezed oj which was a delight on a warm morning. Whilst waiting we read info from the menu on where the ingredients are from, all locally sourced fresh often organic produce. Our mouths were watering at the smells wafting from the open kitchen. The bigger breakfast was to die for, everything was as it should be and more. Not usually a big eater but could have gone for the biggest breakfast as it all was so delicious. The poached eggs and salmon were done too perfection and the plate was cleared even though she had already had breakfast that morning. Next time in Brighton this will be our first stop. We found it great value for the quality of ingredients used. Decor is that of a surfer shack which works with the laid back friendly style of the dynamic duo running the place.
