Arrived very early at 12.30 Sunday lunchtime for 1.30 jazz outside. Nobody near us. Social distancing. People started arriving and sitting behind us and elsewhere. 2.30 woman table cleaner comes and shouts at me and abuses me saying that I am going to get the bar closed down due to me not social distancing. Didn't tell the young folk off that were sitting behind me, who should not have been there. Me and my husband were so upset we said we were leaving. Before I left I spoke to some friends and I was accused by the manageress that I was slagging off the bar and I was told to leave the premises. Abused twice. Where's kindness? Nothing was my fault. I was so depressed going home I felt like killing myself. Honestly. .the bar should be closed down due to abuse of customers. We were just 2 kind pensioners enjoying an afternoon of jazz in the sun. Ended up a miserable afternoon.

This is a great place to chill out and has a nice vibe. The food was really poor though. Stale bread. Tasteless soup. Jacket potato with hummus and Mediterranean veg came with minimal hummus and 4 small cubes of courgette. Simple menu that should have been so easy to get right. Coffee pretty good though. I'd go back but would like more thought put into the food.

I feel as though I have been robbed. £16.50 for two sandwiches and 2 coffees. I need to say though, the sandwiches were nothing - lettuce and tomatoes and a bit of tofu. The salad we got as a side was embarrassing - my dad can make better salad. There was hardly any dressing and my sandwich/wrap was more salad than tofu. Bloody hell. I will never visit again.

Travelled from Manchester to see a band on Sunday afternoon. I was interested in how they created and manafged this small community arts venue. We found it quite easily after negotiatig the horrors of Leeds' inner ring road, plenty of on-street parking, main road location. A good, quite intimate yet flexible venue. OK, a black box is a black box. Or is it. I could name a few that are cold and sterile but Seven Arts felt quite the opposite. The scale of the whole thing is very human, the space flexible, the cafe/bar comfortable and bright. The programme is extensive. Pity it's sixty miles away. I will be going back.

Had lunch here - a jacket potato with baked beans & a cup of soup - 2 hours later I had bad stomach cramps & diarrhoea. I called the restaurant & left a message & only received a call back 3 days later. The lady who called me told me it couldn’t possibly have been the food but probably a bug that’s going around; I’m not convinced. It’s a jolly, local meeting place & the staff are always very helpful. I just hope they take more care in the kitchen

We were advised of a half hour wait for food which didn’t feel like the end of the world....Except the staff looked miserable because of it! It was a sunny lunchtime and it would appear that they’d resorted to THE cheapest bread rolls Lidl could ever supply. Shameful. The filling was rather tasty.

This venue hosts loads of different events including jazz, film, quiz and comedy nights. You can have a meal in the cafe bar or pop in for coffee and cake.In short it's a multi purpose art space. If you happen to be in the area on the last Wednesday of the month make sure you pop in for Silkys " kill for a seat* comedy nights. Tickets are great value for money and can be bought on the door if you've not booked in advance. He is very entertaining and friendly. There are 3 sections to the night opening act, new/emerging talent and s headline act all compared by silky himself. Went last night and had a great night - real laugh out loud fun. Set back from the road behind some large trees, this is a hidden gem of a cultural resource close to the heart of Chapel Allerton. An arts venue, with a performance space at rear, you will find a full programme of daily events - stand-up, Jazz, drama, film, music, poetry plus art on the walls. The bar is insulated from what's going on in the rear (though some Jazz is in the bar) and offers a quieter venue through the day and into the evening than most of the other local bars. A small but well-chosen selection of ales, beers, wine and gin and good coffee. A matter of taste, perhaps, but improving and extending the food offer would make this place perfect. As it is, a gem of a local resource that deserves to be better known and appreciated.

It's a nice venue, and the coffee was good, so we were off to a good start. However, when our meals arrived we were both disappointed. My meal was covered in a very sweet sauce that rendered it pretty much inedible, and my partner's meal was very bland. A shame, as it seemed like a nice spot.

I had a very unpleasant experience there today. I go the Seven regularly, both with my young family and friends. Today my friend and I went for a quiet coffee and a chat as we haven't seen each other for a while. I ordered coffee and she had a pot of tea. After 1.5 h , the manger came along with a statement 'This pot of tea lasted you a while. Are you going to order anything else?' My jaw almost dropped. Considering that I go to Seven regularly, I found this comment completely out of order. Is it some kind of unwritten rule that you have to leave £15-£20 every time you go? Obviously Seven has a problem with people having just a cup of coffee and a chat. Why do you serve it then? Perhaps the management should put up a note saying that you are not allowed to have coffee on its own and put a specific time limit- say, 20 minutes before you order another one? I have witnessed the same manager making similar comments to other people previously but didn't know the details so couldn't really judge the appropriateness, although the comment itself and the sarcasm speak for itself- next time you send your staff for a customer service training, go with them. I am sure you can learn one or two things about 'pushing' people to buy more. I am not surprised staff rotates so frequently. I, for sure, won't be returning. Prefer to leave my money elsewhere, loads of places to choose from in the area and I hope they will appreciate the custom, even if it is £2.50 at a time.

Like many other reviews mention, this place is not too child friendly. It's a shame as I like the food, ethos and venue but I was made to feel like such an inconvenience because I had a toddler there. There were a series of comments made more than one member of staff that made us feel very unwelcome. As a fellow cafe owner I can partially understand that children aren't always the ideal customer, but their attitude towards us was just unnecessary.

This is a funny place, a bit cliquey, it tends to be crowded by worthy, middle-class mums in the daytime. The events are a bit 'niche' (I once had to sit through a performance of Norwegian folk-jazz here). Coffee is OK. Drinks are a bit pricey, as is the food, which also tends towards the worthy. I've only eaten here once, and was quite staggered by the meal I received, considering how much it cost. I've been here plenty of times, mainly to meet friends, but I'm always glad to get away after.

Upon arrival this space is very much like a lunch-time casual café. There is a bar with 2 staff and empty tables - my friend and I sat down at a table and couldn't find the menu so assumed it would be near the bar. There was 2 pieces of paper (the menus) on the bar counter. We had looked online at the menu on their website before we had arrived (they say they change / update the menu every day). We went to the bar and I asked for the side (as a starter) of bread, oil and balsamic vinegar (it wasn't on the printed menu) to which a member of staff said "we are only serving what is on the menu, the menu changes everyday" - okay understandable, even though the "todays menu" was on the website. I ordered hummus and bread and jerk burger with sweet potato chips. My friend ordered the salmon pasta, sweet potato chips and a side salad. Our food all came at once - The hummus was the weirdest / unappetising thing I've ever tried. It was SO dry, it was like eating clay, and very garlicy / chunky. I understand it was probably homemade but it was so dry.The jerk chicken burger was nice, it had nice flavours - my salad came with balsamic vinegar, and I had pitta bread with my hummus (not on the menu but still have balsamic vinegar and bread as what I had originally actually wanted?).My friend said her salmon pasta was nice. After we had finished our table was cleared, and since we had already paid at the bar when we ordered we had felt a bit rushed - like there wasn't much else to stick around for. The atmosphere is very much like a casual café - not an actual sit down, relax type of restaurant.Overall the food was average, and the whole experience was average.. we probably won't be returning.

It is great at any time, and I love the policy regarding prams and pushchairs, means I can go for an afternoon coffee, pint or glass of wine and truly relax without too many noisy children and watch the world go by through the large windows, or even outside if the weather permits.Good prices too for the type of place it is.Always worth a visit, just don't go too late.

I go to Seven Arts fairly often to meet with friends and the one thing we always comment on is how slow the service is. Ordering a coffee is really an endurance test. They have been know to take up to twenty minutes to bring a coffee to you table!!! This is a completely unacceptable level of service and they really need to get the staff trained in order to get the teas and coffes out in a reasonable time. It's not as if this only happens at busy times, even when the place is nearly empty it seems to take ages to get a hot drink.

Great beers, food always changing and locally sourced and great atmosphere at the weekend. Always something different and interesting on in the Arts section and does a lot of work within the community to promote dying arts.Being able to cater for all it's customers is what every small business aims for; pram-gate has been completely blown out of proportion! The tables are fairly big, so space is at a premium; asking customers to leave them outside the main dining area seems like the logical thing to do is it not?great place and I'll be back.

We weren't even allowed through the door because they don't allow prams and pushchairs and our 3 month old baby was asleep in his pram. This was despite the fact that it was late afternoon and the place was virtually empty and our 2 year old burst into tears when they told us we couldn't stay. The irony is this place is a social enterprise that is supposed to serve the community, yet they exclude a key part of the community as a matter of policy. No private business could afford to treat customers in this way. Shocking.

I think it's been well-documented but it bears saying again that this place clearly does not like children through its doors. Prams outside is actually fine by me but the problem is with the disinterested staff, slow service and attitude towards children. Paying customers should at least have a high chair brought over - not have to fetch it themselves from the far corner. The staff just aren't very friendly and the food we ordered took way over half an hour to arrive. When it did get there, it was fairly good but it's difficult to enjoy it when you don't feel welcome. Shame, as it could be a really good venue.

This is a very agreeable and pleasant meeting place, a focal point for the local arts, music and intellectual scene with many events taking place in and around the cafe/restaurant such as concerts, Cafe scientifique and poetry readings. There is a limited but very tasty menu and a range of quality drinks, both hot and cold available. the food is freshly prepared and the team serving are young, bright, lively and helpful. The seating areas both inside and out offer space and a variety of formats for meeting, relaxing, eating and general socialising. There is a buzz of interest and lots of information on local events around this venue. Service is to the table and the atmosphere is friendly, chic and relaxed. this is a great place to meet for a light meal, drinks and a good long conversation. large glass windows add to the appeal and it is situated virtually in the heart of the district of Chapel Allerton which has a pleasant villagey feel and offers many facilities, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Give this one a try if you're not sure, the chances are that you'll return if you can!

My first visit to seven was really delightful. i loved the range of activities offered. I enjoyed the greek salad and meatballs. small plates to graze on perfect for a sociable lunch. drank sanpelligrino, an old favourite and finished up with the most delicious cup of earl grey. I will be going back.

Visited here several times and I have to say the beer is consistently excellent. They have a great selection of draught beers and bottles. There is a varied programme of events on every day and a great quiz on Sunday evenings. Just wish I could get close to winning it!

Long waits, staff 'can't say' on food ingredients so that's great for food allergies!Known this place since it opened and it seems bad. I ordered something for lunch which never arrived recently, and on another occasion I asked for a simple thing - plain bread and butter and was told they had none, yet they do sandwiches and things on toast. The person who served me could not have cared less. Too many better laces for coffee and for lunch ocally for them not to up their game.

A few of us with very children went for a coffee in December, under the impression it was family friendly....well how wrong could we be....!? There's a sign in the entrance asking for children not to be noisey, and if they are then they should be taken home. I'm sorry can children not be children any more? Were these sign writers never children themselves once? The staff were pretty miserable in there place of employment, it seemed rather difficult for them to raise a smile which was a shame. I'm not sure if it their general personalities or the fact that another baby was entering the premises. Shame really, Chapel Allerton is built up on families and I would of thought its all these groups of mums that keep places like Seven ticking over with all the caffeine and cake that we consume.

Visited as a one off with a few families after a FAMILY pantomime in the theatre ( which we were told is NOT to do with the bar?!?!) various families told to keep their children from blowing out candles, moving about the venue or being loud (2 other groups seperate from ourselves.) requested tissue after my son spilt juice- greeted with a scowl and wordlessly passed a tissue. Several families left after being 'reprimanded' by staff. Asked to talk to manager who basically said not to bring small children (unless silent and glued to spot) and that the bar is not linked to theatre pantomime. And protested that they have a 'very hard' job. (Dont we all??!!) Be great if they had explained children were unwelcome before we spent our money (which they gladly took through scowls and gritted teeth.) what a shame, as has potential to be family friendly as it purports to be. Bearing in mind all this occurred between 3-5pm on a Saturday. May be nice if you are child free?!?! Otherwise KEEP AWAY !!! Really sad ending to the afternoon as pantomime was amazing.

The service was better than my last visit - its been a while since I've been brave enough to come here with baby in tow. But we risked the scowls and dirty looks, and it was worth it.The food here really is delicious, tho very unusual - not your average cafe food. One major comment - NOT ENOUGH HIGH CHAIRS!! I know they don't like you to bring your pram into the bar area as its quite small. I'm fine with this, but I do need somewhere to put my baby..... 12 babies / toddlers in there today spread between six tables. Two high chairs???? It's ridiculous really.

We went to this restaurant last night and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The staff were very polite and accommodating, we had lots of starters to try and then a few that we hadn't had were brought to us and we kept them coming until we were absolutely full. I don't understand why other reviews have put this little restaurant down so much may be they went on the wrong day but we had a lovely meal.

I've been going to Seven since it opened, and always loved it. Until I had a baby. I cannot believe how rude some of the staff have been - it actually really upset me and last time I went, the waitress was so rude when we were trying to find a table that we just walked out, and I don't want to go back.Aside from this major issue, the food is interesting - a bit of a Lebanese flavour. The menu is small, and often there is nothing that takes my fancy, but when something has appealed to me it has lived up to expectations.Good booze selection, nice coffee. Lovely and light during the day. The hardest quiz I have EVER done - we couldn't actually answer ANY questions.Such a shame about some of the staff.....

Perfecto, simplemente perfecto, el pescado estaba fuera de la escala que se cocinó maravillosamente y sabía fantástico. ¡Deberías ir de maravilla!

The food was very average. There was nothing unique or special about the food. The service was substandard. I would definitely avoid this place.

Excellent food and great choice. Suggest you book ahead. For the "top" meals they are between £25 and £30 each. I had a mixed fish dish which was excellent.

We had Sunday lunch and were served by Sam . He was so good at his job and really made us feel welcome, our son is a very fussy eater and Sam couldn't do more to help. Lovely place for family's.

Mrs Bore and I had a salmon and ham sandwich respectively. Both really well prepared on fresh bread though just short of £10 each. The one thing preventing 5 stars is they had outside heaters that nearly singed my hair.
