Seumas' Bar in Highland

Simply feels like run down. Apathetic staff and below average food. Atmosphere was ok but weirdly has an American feel rather than Scottish. Has so much potential to be so much better based on its iconic location. So disappointed.

Interesting spot for a bite to eat! Bar has an extensive selection of whiskys, the restaurant has a limited range of menu items! You are kind of stuck here if you stay next door as there is no other place to eat. It is fine but limited and not the most appetizing. Ok for a quick pit stop.

This a an awesome place, the food is excellent and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, this makes for a great atmosphere, even though we live 500+ miles away whenever we visit it feels like our local, and the staff remember us. Would highly recommend a visit. 5*

Bar is canny and atmosphere was brill however… Food is not Edible, I’m by NO means a picky eater very easily pleased. But when you order and your food comes out 30 seconds later there got to be something off. They couldn’t even get chips right. The worst food weve had. Have even decanted smart price sauce into branded bottles, no ones a snob just don’t fib about it lol. It wasn’t busy we came back end of the season end of September.

Looks nicer than it is. Bar area pleasant, appeared to have a good selection of beers, but most of them were "off", fortunately good choice of bottled beers. Huge selection of Malt whisky and good staff in the bar area. Avoid the restaurant at all costs, limited menu, all clearly bought in and warmed up. Weatherspoons quality food at gastro-pub prices.

Don't bother, expensive food, just a glorified coach stop. £18 for poor fish and chips, order for at the table but have to go to the bar to order drinks.

We popped in here for lunch after a morning in Portree. Initially we weren't sure where to park, but eventually found a space and were surprised at how quiet it was, despite it being in a prime location. The waiter who met us at the door had an attitude that matched the weather; miserable and cold. However we were seated quickly and were given plenty of time to browse the menu. The menu was pricey, but the food was pretty good. Nice large portions and everything was cooked well. I had the "famous" burger and my girlfriend had the fish and chips. We both finished our plates. The waiter who took our order was in a very flat mood, but was clearly trying to be professional and friendly. We had to pay for our food before it arrived, which is odd but at least we weren't disappointed. The waitress who didn't serve us, but was dealing with other tables, seemed very bubbly and happy and pleasant, the type of person you want serving at a restaurant. The barman was also very friendly and quick at sorting out drink orders. The toilets weren't sign posted well and were almost hidden behind the unnecessarily big screen at the back which was showing some football match. However despite that, the restaurant and bar was nicely presented and decorated.

Fantastic mac and cheese.. smoked cheese, mature cheddar, and topped with parmesan crumb.. waitress was lovely and described the dishes perfectly.. the previous review seems odd.. only one review ever? not true.. the selection of sandwiches was awesome and the chunky chips were very nice and filling. Ive been fine dining and there is a usual bill of 2-300 quid for couple of courses for plus drinks/wine so 16 for amazing mac and cheese is fab.. thank you Celine for serving us and the run down from menu as it was great wee lunch..!!

I am not one for writing reviews but I feel I have to warn others about this place. After finding ourselves in a storm and dreading the thought of having to spend a night in a flimsy tent, my partner and myself thought we would spend a few hours at this bar to warm ourselves up with some food. The bar itself was fine and staff at the bar were very charismatic. However, the restaurant is terrible. The area is set up like a canteen with caddys with cutlery and sachets of sauce at each table. The menu is quite limited and very expensive, with a plate of macaroni cheese costing £16. This is more expensive than fine dining restaurants we have been to in Glasgow. My partner had the macaroni cheese which was abysmal - pieces of macaroni floating in what seemed like orange coloured milk. I had the cheeseburger which was fine. It was burnt and tasted/shaped exactly like ones you would buy from the supermarket.Having to pay for your meal before getting it is now clearly a sign that the food will not be good. The place was quite busy with lots of visiters waiting out the storm but we heard a lot of others complain about the food too. I must say the bar area seemed better and was actually reasonably priced. Though I must say that the barman pointed out that the white wine was from asda. The whole experience left us a bit sad thinking how much potential this place had as a great venue in a fantastic location. Basically, an ok place to hide from the rain with a pint or two but dont touch the food.

This place is just lovely! Visited August ‘23 and again August ‘24. The food is lovely, service great and a nice atmosphere in the bar. Whilst the menu was small, our meals were divine. They offer a whisky flight too which is a nice addition. Highly recommend calling into this place!

Pretty rank. We couldn’t eat our meals. I would advise finding somewhere else to eat. The chips were over done, salad was old and had some mud like substance in it. The coleslaw looked like it was a week old too.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and ordered nothing too extravagant with the chilli beef loaded fries. What arrived was burnt chips laden with cheese of some description and pulled pork. Being hungry we ate it but at £13 I was expecting more. Served in a dish with burnt baking paper flaking into your meal, burnt chips and just random everything. Certainly not somewhere I’d stop again

The service was chaotic. Food, cannot be termed food. Scampi was hugely over priced for a grey, lukewarm, sludge. Live locally but will never return to this place. They rely on passing trade completely, if it was entirely local demand they would cease to excist.

You just can't beat this place for location the surroundings are stunning and so is the food, we tried the venison stew and it was amazing.

A great place to eat. Very busy and they don’t take booking for under six people so we had to wait 1 ½ for a table and our food. That was okay as it’s a lovely bar and we could sit and have a drink whilst we waited. We all had burgers that were great but not as good as GBK! We also tried the cauliflower wings starter which was tasty.

Really this bar was just fine. Arrived to find that they had a wait for food service. They handled it well, we waited in the “bar”, got drinks and the were seated for food. Everything was good, very casual. No complaints and the folks were pleasant.

Despite requesting a reservation/ they state you don’t need one . Also checked on the day - same message . Arrive at 6.30 pm to see tables reserved for large groups and nothing available til 8.30 earliest so would have to wait . Either it is or is not taking reservations . Don’t waste your time is my advice

We visited here just after 5pm and managed to get the last table of four, as it was busy with walkers. We all enjoyed our meal and had cullen skink, haggis bon bons, soup, burger and vegetarian curry. It was very well priced and the music was good too.

Piège à touristes ⚠️ Les avis positifs sont souvent une erreur et correspondent au restaurant se situant juste à côté (visible grâce aux photos) Très déçue du restaurant : Nous venons à 10, on me dit au téléphone pas de réservation possible, il faut venir et voir si il y a de la place. En arrivant à 19h, 1h30 d’attente car il y a des tables réservées (je croyais qu’ils ne prenaient pas les réservations ?). Nous décidons d’attendre, et sommes re-accueillis à 20h30 comme si l’on dérangeait. Il n’est pas bien tard mais il manque déjà plus de la moitié des plats sur la carte. Nous nous rabattons donc sur les basiques : burgers, fish and chips et un plat de scampi et frites. Tous les plats arrivent et ne sont rien d’autres que des plats surgelés, alors qu’il est bien inscrit "homemade" sur la carte. Le Burger enfant ne consiste en rien d’autre qu’un steak entre deux pains sans sauce ni tranche de tomate (d’après la serveuse c’est apparement normal car les enfants ne mangent pas beaucoup). Je pense honnêtement que si nous avions acheté un paquet de scampi et des burgers tous prêts chez Tesco ça aurait eu le même goût. Nous n’avons pas pris de desserts, ceux dans la vitrine ne donnaient vraiment pas envie de manger. En plus de ça, il faut aller chercher sa propre vaisselle ainsi que commander au comptoir, et si vous n’interpellez pas les serveurs malgré le fait qu’ils soient à quelques centimètres de vous de l’autre côté du bar, vous ne serez pas servis. En bref, plus de 100 pounds pour 6 plats surgelés, sans desserts ni apéritifs. Très cher pour manger ce genre de nourriture, a éviter autant que possible.

Attrape touristes, à part le bar avec les 400 whiskys, rien ne vaut le coup dans cet endroit qu’on ne peut pas appeler un restaurant. Il faut aller commander soi même et ramener soi même sa vaisselle à table. Repas surgelés, aucun goût.

We stopped here for lunch. The staff were nice but the food was disappointing. There were not a lot of home made options on the menu, mostly frozen food. The Cullen Skink was very oily but at least it was served hot, unlike the rest of our lunch.
