Settebello Trattoria in Gloucester

We ordered from specials menu, my friends hash brown was like a house brick and my lamb was chewy...the staff were lovely otherwise it would have been 2 stars

Fantastic food. The focaccia and pickled beetroot with goats cheese for starters were yummy. For mains we had the sweet potato risotto, salmon and bolognese. The creme brulee was one of the best we've had. Staff very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere lively but not loud. And lovely decorations. Highly recommend. Had we lived closer we would be a regular!

Settebello Cheltenham. We were really looking forward to experiencing Settebello Cheltenham, having seen the Gloucester reviews, but it was so poor, in terms of food, and what it’s trying to achieve, that we’ll wait another few months to try it again.

Very good food, very friendly and nice staff. We will be back very soon.

Really busy place to be in! Quick and friendly services. Pastas could have tasted nicer than they were tbh. The tiramisu is pretty good with slightly more solid than the tiramisus in other places. All dishes come in medium-sized portions.

Me and my partner came here for a little date night, we ordered: Drinks: Kopperberg, Pinot Rose then Irish coffee after dinner Starters: Calamari and Bruschetta Mains: Sirloin steak ( Chargrilled Sirloin Steak, Garlic King Oyster Mushrooms, Rocket, Potato Fondant, Salsa Verde & Aged Parmesan) and Pastore pizza (San Marzano Tomatoes, Fior di Latte, Red Onion Jam, Goat’s Cheese & Basil) Service: The staff welcoming us were very friendly and showed us to our table quite quickly. We were asked if we wanted some water for the table which is always nice (And we wasn't charged for it!) Our waitress was friendly but didn't seem too experienced as she wasn't sure if the drink I ordered was on the menu but that didn't bother me at all. We were left alone whilst eating which I always find nice but wasn't the fastest when it came to picking up the plates when we had finished. Starters: The calamari and bruschetta starters were really tasty and we both enjoyed them Main: The pizza I had tasted amazing and I really enjoyed it however, it did come out uncut (I think this might be normal?) but I had to ask for it to be cut and was brought out a pizza cutter. I know by reading the menu that the dough isn't cooked for long but I couldn't eat the pizza normally and had to roll it up in order to eat it as it wasn't possible to hold the pizza otherwise or fold it sideways to eat. My partner had the steak and again, it tasted really nice but portion wise, there wasn't too much and there was only a bit of potato fondant as you can see by the picture and plenty of rocket so by the time she had finished, she wasn't feeling too full.

Food was absolutely delicious, both flavour and presentation absolutely outstanding. Restaurant itself is cosy, welcoming and with a rustic touch. Service from the tattooed girl at the bar was fantastic, what a lovely service. Knowledge of wine and a witty chat! 😁 However, there is some negative points. Restaurant was unbearably hot and humid, not a single window open even for a minute. Also, our server (blonde girl) could benefit from retraining in customer service (abrupt, like our request were a chore, even asking for water jug!).

Fia and Filipe were very welcoming and attentive whilst I dined, and the food was lovely.

Eaten here many times, outside، with the dogs. Inside and outside dining. Food nice, wine is good. Offer free Limoncelĺo nice, but non alcoholic alternative would be nice. Service today, was a bit pushy, too quick when ordering and for another bottle wine (which we have) and at end to vacate table.

Our daughter chose Settebello for her 21st birthday. It was an impressive storm going on outside and there were some impressive Italian offerings going on inside. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Pizzas, pasta, garlic bread, all excellent. We want to do a particular shout out to Kieya, who served us. Really nice interactions with us as a group. Some lovely witty exchanges; and we felt appreciated and looked after. Waiting staff like that can make a meal really enjoyable, and Kieya did just that. Thank you.

Me and my partner came here for a romantic and atmospheric birthday dinner. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out with fair lights in the trees and plants hanging from the ceiling inside! The restaurant itself was buzzing with people and the food was lovely! Just wish the tiramisu would have had a lighter cream it was very heavy! Next time I look forward to trying the frozen cocktails!

A proper Italian Restaurant, with a brilliant 'City Vibe'. It isn't cheap, but very good value for the quality of the food.....and wine.

First time here 4 generations of the same family, ages between 5 and 95. Food well presented and really tasty, a wide range of choice for all of us. One thing that stood out was the waitress who served us. She was very polite, very efficient and very helpful, all with a smile on her face. A credit to the business

Took our Granddaughter after starting college for a "celebration meal", staff were great, food was Fantastic. Will definitely bring her back again next time we visit.

Carbonara can be very hit and miss but the one I had here today was DIVINE. It was a beautiful sunny day so we sat around the side in the sun and by the water. This can sometimes mean you are forgotten by staff (in other restaurants) but nothing could be further from the truth here, staff were super attentive and efficient. Definitely will be back, YUMMY ;))

Great little restaurant by the docks. Good choice of food and the staff were very attentive and pleasant. You have the choice to sit inside or outdoors and they even provide blankets which is a nice thought.

I enjoy my visit to Settebello. The food was good, although it was quite loud, given its small space. The service was excellent though, which made the evening more enjoyable and seamless. I would go again.

The absolute best Italian. Menu choice excellent and cocktails bonus. Don't go if want quick cheap meal. This has kept its good standard return a definate. Atmosphere for all expensive but you have to pay for quality. Spot on grazie

The food tasted OK but was nothing special. After asking for an orange sand lemonade ( 3 times) I was served an apple cocktail luckily spotted before I drank it. (I was driving) however the view of the canal is fantastic.

Lovely staff and restaurant, cocktails are lovely. However, I ordered the “pollo” which is priced £22. When arrived, the plate contains a chicken breast, a singular potato rosti, 3 cherry tomatoes and a spread of burrata. I was left disappointed and hungry, £22 for a chicken breast! Appalled.

Sirloin steak was tiny I also asked for a medium and got literal raw with 1 massive mushroom and 3 tube shaped miniature potatoes which added together wouldn’t even come to one whole potato stacked on top of the steak instead of some beautiful roasted new potatoes shocking!

I went here for a friend's birthday and thought it was going to be a disaster after they couldn't find it booking. Despite me having the email confirmation. However, they found me a table. The staff were all amazing. Really friendly and helpful. The food tasted and looked great. I would recommend eating here to anyone.

Had a lunchtime meal with my 12-year old daughter. The calamari starter I had was the best I’ve tasted anywhere! My daughter said her pizza was lovely and she’s a connoisseur when it comes to pizza!! Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, will definitely go again.

If you know Italian food you'll know this isn't quite right. Setting is the best thing about this restaurant, next to the Quays and as mentioned above watching the lights on the canal at night.... lovely!! However the food is mediocre at best!! My £11 cheese desert consisted of the smallest slices of cheese you've ever seen with a few rocket leaves, sunblushed tomatoes and olives with "focaccia bread" which really was just pizza dough. It was all just....ok!!! £114 for two people 3 courses no coffee or liquor!! You decide if that's worth paying.

It was the first time in this restaurant and I can say that it is simply exceptional! Pizza as good as in Italy (even better than many pizzerias in Italy) and excellent beers! Courtesy of the staff, speed of service and quality of the products are at home here! Impeccable cleanliness, especially the plates and cutlery (shiny!). Great food, very friendly staff!

Fantastic restaurant, been a couple of times with family and friends and always ended up having a wonderful meal and fantastic drinks. The staff go over and above to look after you and couldn't be more helpful. Definitely a special place to visit and can't wait to go back.

Most of my food was burned, I had sea bass, once I scraped off the skin I was able to eat it. The veg and bits were blackened. My wife's pizza was burned to charcoal many places it was horrible. Only one type of ale. The waitress was pleasant and polite. I will not be returning. Why do these places burn food. This is unacceptable.

9/6/2024-Sunday. My husband and I went to this Family-run restaurant, Settebello, that serves authentic Italian food. This is our 1st time to this Italian restaurant. Nice restaurant with spacious seating area. The serving portion is massive. I love their Seafood Pasta. We ordered from starter finishing with Dessert. Every dishes were superb. Thank to the waiter name MARCO for his excellent service and the rest of the teams. They're very helpful and attentive. This is one of the BEST Italian restaurant, I have ever been so far. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can’t wait to return to this awesome little restaurant. Food was fantastic and big portions, waitresses very lovely indeed. But for me the cherry on the cake is the location, being able to eat and watch the lights bouncing off the docks water …. aww awesome and limoncello on the end 🙌🏼🫶🏼

Only popped in to pay a deposit for a booking in August. Staff were great but I had a beer while I was there. £6.45 for a pint of Peroni which I thought was extortionate. Otherwise would have been 5 stars.

Brilliant experience. Food was fantastic, very tasty & well presented. This was our first visit & will not be our last. Setting is also remarkable being in the Docks. Server Lauren looked after us perfectly. Definitely worth the 20 mile round trip.

I visited Settebello with my family during the Tall Ships festival and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were a party of 5 and were seated outside which was enjoyable to watch the festivities. Most of us enjoyed a pizza and another a chicken dish, the pizza is delicious with flavourful and fresh ingredients, the only minor complaint was the chicken dish was a little dry but they were incredibly busy and the flavour made up for it. The staff were attentive and my cocktail was lovely! I’ve visited a few times before but the pizza tasted better than past experiences (around when they opened), the topping options were also better. Keep up the great work and I’ll be back!

The starter is good, a creamy goat cheese with freshly made focaccia, the pizza is not good, £16 for a frozen pizza full of senseless things, really not good, I think the restaurant is better, the pizza is not the case. Prices too high for the food they serve. Mediocre location. Excellent service.

Our meals were very nice, but the water offered was bottled and almost £4. Some restaurants offer free tap water.

Really nice food but the only criticism is that the tables are all crammed together and it felt claustrophobic. It was difficult to have a conversation as it was so loud because of so many people. Also I’m not sure if the air con was working but it was really hot in the restaurant.

This restaurant was a highlight on the docks. A busy restaurant where we could sit outside. The staff looked after us. We started with bread and focaccia. The dough was just so plump and tasty. The focaccia was oozing in garlic. We had pizza main course. Fluffy dough was just perfect. I had four cheese. The size of the pizza was generous and it was a great dinner. Highly recommended. Book ahead.

Visited around 6:30pm on Saturday 18/05/24 as a party of 4. Booking definitely advised as it was very busy. Staff were very welcoming on arrival, seated us straight away and after a few minutes browsing the menu, they took our food and drinks order. Between us all we had garlic dough balls, mozzarella sticks, and calamari for starters. All were delicious, especially the mozzarella sticks. Main course we had pizza, risotto, salmon, rigatoni ragu, and again we all agreed it was great food. Desserts we had sorbet, pannacotta, tiramisu. Lovely finish to the meal. With a couple of rounds of drinks as well, the total was about £170, which we felt was worth it for the standard of food. The only slight niggle was it was a warm evening and although there did seem to be air conditioning, it was either only switched on sporadically or it wasn’t working. And with the restaurant so busy, it didn’t feel as comfortable as perhaps it could be had the air conditioning been working properly. It’s a minor thing, not so bad that we wouldn’t visit again that’s for sure.

Great location and Atmosphere food very delicious service spot on

First time I had been, went with some friends for a dinner on a Friday evening. Although a little on the expensive side compared to some other Italian venues near by, there is no comparison when it Comes to the quality and taste of the food. If you want to try authentic Italian, cooked well, then you should try Settebello in Glouchester Docks. I arrived ahead of my friends and had a drink in the bar, the staff were really welcoming and were all Smiling and enjoying themselves… which made the entire atmosphere a welcoming change to most venues I go to. I wasn’t drinking and was disappointed in selection of non-alcoholic drinks, but they did have some. Definitely one to try if you want a nice out with friends, some Bubbly and good wholesome Food!

Quality food and great friendly atmosphere

Great staff who were very welcoming and accommodating. I had the Carbonara which I have to admit was presented lovely but in terms of flavour was pretty bland. The eggs had scrambled and the amount of bacon was very small. Pasta was undercooked also . Very disappointed as I had seen the reviews prior to coming.

Came today and sat outside weather so nice sitting on the waterside Must say staff so fast I think there names Niamh and Ben but it was so busy so fair play to them in this heat aha!

Come to Settebello often enough must say food always on point had salmon and wife had sea bass. The 2 people who served us this lunch such good sense of humour and really did make us feel welcome!

Visited for lunch yesterday with some friends. Despite the restaurant having an issue with the gas and electric the food was great. The standout meal was the spaghetti carbonara. It was very similar to food I’d had in Italy. Just the most delicious carbonara I’ve ever had. So rich and creamy. Others had the Sunday roast and said it was delicious.

Fabulous food, friendly staff. Save room for the panacotta (Or the tiramisu.)

Great experience with my family. The food is authentic, the staff were always on hand but not overbearing, and the atmosphere is relaxed. I will be going back, and my son (23) says he will ne taking his work colleagues.

Nice place, although I'm not quite sure that it's worth the 4.7 it's got. The pizza was pretty good, although a little heavy on the sauce and cheese, the dough however was absolutely superb. Our biggest gripe was the NOISE in the restaurant, my wife and I quite literally couldn't hear each other talk without shouting at one another, so we ended up eating near enough in silence and leaving as quickly as we could.

This restaurant is in a nice setting in Gloucester keys and is a nice place to have Dinner. The atmosphere was great and the staff were superb. The food was good but not excellent and its a bit on the pricier side . The service was really exceptional and the restaurant was full inside and out so well done to them.

Amazing food and amazing service

This place is brilliant. The food is so good. My family are from the same area in Italy and the food is comparable but they also do some really "cheffy" dishes like the whipped goats cheese is amazing and nothing like anything I've tried before. Its a shame it's so far from where we live or it would be a regular haunt. I would definitely take a detour to go back and try something else. If you're in the area you have to go here

The food was lovely bit expensive for portion size the drinks are very expensive. We went for our daughters birthday table booked for 6.30 pm there was one table that was really loud and didn't care about anyone else around them spoilt any conversation. Our waitress was very pleasant and very helpful .

Highly recommended, the best meal we have had in England to date. The pizza is second to none and the carbonara was also al dente. We'd love to come back

We only went for cocktails on this occasion and sat outside. The cocktails were excellent and when one of them did have too much lemon added it was changed straight away. Friendly staff and good service.

The biggest problem with this restaurant is the acoustics, it's so loud that you can barely hear what other people at your table are saying. This wrecks the atmosphere. It could be improved if they fitted noise dampening panels. In chilly weather, if you're offered a table within sight of the door, ask to sit elsewhere or you'll spend all evening frequently blasted by cold air. Another atmosphere killer. Food is good quality but portions are a little on the small side. Desserts are not worth bothering with. I once had polenta chips from the specials menu and they were so salty they were barely edible. I couldn't complain because friends were buying us dinner and I didn't want to spoil the evening. Settebello is OK but there are much better restaurants within a very short walk.

Came here with friends to enjoy a meal out. The table was booked but unfortunately the people at the table were quite happy to sit and chat past their 2 hour mark. Not a problem for us as they kept us well informed so we had drinks at the bar. Once sat service was prompt and it wasn't long before food came out even though it was really busy. I think we all came to the same conclusion that the food was great! Overall it seems to be the place to be! Only gripe is that it's very hard to have a conversation without raising your voice but it was a Saturday night. But despite that I'd come again.

Lovely looking place. Food average and expensive. Told waitress about hair in daughters pizza. Nothing done about it. Heard them talking about rushing us for the next party. Won't go again

I can say with my hand on my heart that it is the best Italian restaurant. Bar, top-level cuisine and amazing staff. And above all thanks to Jane, the girl who never stopped smiling and taking care of us.
