Great food again. We love this restaurant

We had an excellent time! Lovely food in a tapas style, and brilliant cocktails. Laidback atmosphere and the waiter who served us was so friendly. You must try the margarita cheesecake.

Entirely gluten free menu and kitchen! Fantastic tasting food in tapa sized portions, only negative was the small kitchen restricting service speed.

Little surprise find. As it turns out we were served by the restaurant’s head chef Lauren. Her food is nothing but divine!! Highly recommended if you are in Gloucester!!! We shall be back!! ❤️

It was OK.... The brisket was more fat than meat and the service was a bit overzealous, but it was alright.

They take a long time to serve you for drinks even though we said the restaurant was empty, we were the only table, they take much longer to bring the food and when the tacos arrive they are cold because they also put an ice cold mayonnaise on it which shouldn't be on it, the tacos are super small some dishes that all overflowed, the drinks in very small and expensive glasses, we did all this to the girl who served us and there was no apology or that she would pass the comments on to the person in charge, we will not return

Very slow service. When food eventually came it was stone cold. A real shame as it tasted good, but taking 75 minutes to serve cold tacos isn't really good enough!

Just passing this evening and tripped over the threshold… WoW and what treasure this place is! All food was served “hot” which is refreshing in itself. Staff are very attentive. A total pleasure to dine here this evening.

We booked for 12 and the place was more or less empty. However our order wasn’t taken for another 25 minutes even for drinks. It was after 1pm before any food arrived, even salsa and chips. The food itself was delicious but I would have appreciated it if the slow service was at least acknowledged.

Great welcome on arrival, choice of table. Relaxed dining experience with tasty food all freshly prepared. We had brisket tacos and sweet potato quesadillas and the most amazing patatas as a side dish all cooked by Amelia. The wine selection was impressive.

Great food, good vibe and lovely cocktails!

Music was too loud, we were a group of 4 on a small table and couldn’t hear each other without shouting. Food was nice but small portions so if you are coming for your evening meal you might end up spending more than you want to. Staff were polite, no recommendations on food or portion size which meant we had to order a second round of food because the amount we ordered wasn’t enough. We then waited quite a long time for this second round of food.

The food is really good, but the service is so incredibly slow that it's not worth it. We arrived, and about 10 minutes later, we ordered the first round of food. It took about 20 minutes for them to bring out two starters: nachos with three sauces and a cold corn salad with nachos in a small cup. Then, 20 minutes later, they served four tacos. Since the portions were small, and we didn’t know, we had to order more. We waited 30 minutes and nothing came. We asked the waitress, and finally, after 45 minutes, they brought out the three tacos. Seeing the situation, we asked for the bill, and surprise – nothing... We asked again, and still nothing... After 30 minutes, we went to the bar to pay. We told them we had been waiting more than 30 minutes for the bill, to which the waitress replied, "That’s not true..." So we paid, and even though the food is good, it’s not worth it because of the service.

Slow service but worth the wait in the end!! We were sat down for about 20 minutes before we were even asked what we would like to drink and then another 20 after that for food. Not all of the food arrived at same time which was frustrating BUT when it did come it was amazing some of the best Mexican I’ve had in a long time. Super fresh fish loved the tostadas! The chicken tacos were amazing too!

The food was fantastic, and the service was fast and friendly. The cozy ambiance added to the experience, making it a perfect choice for a relaxed meal.

Table for seven people in very quiet restaurant. First diner’s dish can out about twenty minutes before I got up to complain that two people hadn’t had their food yet. They ended up giving us those two dishes for free, but two or three sides we had ordered didn’t materialise and I had to ask for them to be removed from the bill (at a guess, 40 minutes after ordering). Some extra tortilla chips took about 15 minutes to show up. I feel bad giving a negative review, and the staff were apologetic after I complained but were not proactive. The food was pretty good, better than other local Mexican offerings which are all chain outlets.

Was excited to try the tacos from here, though the cod cheek one was the only stand out one. Portions are small, so definitely order more than you think you need. Price was a bit expensive for the portion size. The service was okay, but as we were still hungry after our initial order we decided to order some more and the second lot of food took some time to arrive. Understand that's it's cook to order, though would of been nice to get some follow ups to know that the food is on it's way. I would return if the menu had expanded to more variety into burrito bowls, more variety of side dishes, expansion of flavours... And increase in portion size!

Fantastic, cosy and atmospheric little restaurant serving a refined selection of very nicely done authentic mexican dishes. The little taqueira tacos were all stunning, and the 12 hour, in house smoked brisket was superb, along with the charcoal grilled hispi cabbage and cod cheek tacos. Also, a superb elote! Hard to find in the UK. Presentation was brill and showed the chefs attention to detail, Well recommended if in the area

Tasty, smaller than I'd expected but maybe I don't have enough experience of tacos! We ordered 4 plates of tacos between the two of us and swapped some so we could try the different types. Wouldn't bother with the sweet potato ones again as I wasn't keen on the charring which I'm unsure whether it was by design or if they were just over cooked. Everything could have been a bit hotter in my opinion.

Amazing food! We had pork carnitas, longhorn brisket birria & tuna tostada to share and they were so so amazing and tasty we decided to order more savoury. We had baja cod cheek & chipotle chicken esquites as seconds. We would highly recommend all of these but the cod. The rest were so flavourful but the cod was less so. Still it was amazing! Highly recommend!

Great restaurant! Finally managed to try it and had the tuna tostadas, pork tacos, chicken tacos and butternut squash tacos. We also had the elote. My favorite was the pork— absolutely banging flavours! The tostada was also delicious with the fish being nice and fresh. The chicken was probably my least favorite but i think if it was coated in some kind of sauce it would taste better. However it was the one thing my kid would eat so… maybe a good kids meal option?? I admit the service was slow to start but it was because there are only one person waiting on tables, but when help arrived it picked up nicely :)

We sat outside as it was a sunny day. There's ramp access to the restaurants and outdoor terrace. Very exciting to eat somewhere where the whole menu is gluten-free, with vegetarian and vegan options. Delightful food - will definitely visit again. Three tacos and shared sides is about right for a decent lunch but order more if hungry. Chargrilled hispi cabbage with a citrusy sauce was really good. Really good corn chips. Beef tacos were excellent. Only minor quibble was the chargrilled hispi cabbage arrived after we'd eaten everything else and they didn't explain when they brought the tacos and other side that this would arrive much later.

A genuine slice of authentic Mexican food in Gloucester. The Elote was perfect, great char and good flavours, which is tricky when things like Cojita arent easily available in the UK. I sampled the pork, birria & fish tacos, all were great. The menu is small but very well executed, and the staff were quick and attentive. Will definately be coming back.

I visited Elote with a friend over the weekend and had to write a review because we were so impressed! We booked a table to sit outside as it was lovely weather and although it wasn’t quite ready for us when we arrived the server quickly prepped it for us. Every item on their menu is Gluten Free which for two people needing GF options was heaven! We went for the chicken and cod tacos, salmon tostada, corn and smashed avocado with chips. All of the food was well presented and tasted amazing. They are what I would call “small plates” so we added on an extra tortilla chips which arrived quickly as we have big appetites! The cod tacos were definitely my favourite as all the accompaniments with the fried cod went so well together! I could’ve eaten two plates! The server was really friendly and helpful and they even made us cocktails that weren’t on their menu, which were equally as amazing as the food! If you’re a Mexican food lover and/or require Gluten Free food in Gloucester you MUST try Elote! You won’t be disappointed!

I visited with my family for dinner. We were seated outdoors, but the serving seemed very slow. Our family of four ordered about six plates, mainly tacos, which were small in size and the taste, although not bad, was a little bland. One point of concern was that despite the tacos being served soaked in sauce and difficult to eat with bare hands, there was no fork and no napkin unless you asked for one. Overall, the portions are expensive for their small size and seem overpriced.

Food was delicious and can’t fault it however please get some additional waiting staff! The poor girl waitressing on Tuesday was completely run off her feet and service was very slow. The floor was pretty dirty with food where we sat and the furniture was wobbly and uncomfortable.

Leo was a great waiter - polite, friendly, funny and fast service! Made the experience 10 times better!!!

Really tasty food. It was a busy Friday evening, on a hot day, so the service was a little slower than ideal, but all staff were apologetic for this and friendly. Live music started at the end of the meal which was pretty loud, I was glad it hadn't started earlier or we wouldn't have been able to have a conversation during our meal.

Food is sooo delicious, atmosphere was wonderful in the sunshine. A visit is a must this summer…

We ate the nicest mexican food (outside of Mexico) that we've had. The service was a little slow, particularly on drinks, but this can be easily sorted with time. A few items weren't available on the menu which was a shame. Will definitely go again though and see how this lovely little restaurant gets better the longer it's open. Thank you.

Very good flavour and food over all! Although I which the chard grilled cabbage was cooked eventually. It was perfect on the thinner section, but no way cooked enough on the thicker end on it, so much even the knife provided couldn't cut through it Would have been a 4.5 if cleaning cupboard door was always opened and the staff didn't use any table of the restaurant as desk/office, laptop, printer, etc. This is really not what customers want see in a restaurant. It felt like we're having our meal in an office.

Visited for lunch today with a friend. We ordered a couple of drinks, the pilsner was unavailable so was offered an alternative which was sufficient. I felt the service was a little lacklustre, we were seated by the waitress and it took a long time for our food/drinks order to be taken which felt odd considering the venue was empty, I started scanning the menu to check if we are meant to order at the bar. I ordered the beef birria taco and my friend the pulled pork, with a starter of (sorry can’t remember the name) but it was a sweetcorn/cream cheese dip with tortilla chips (was quite yummy!). The tacos arrived, they weren’t very hot, but I put this down to the toppings being quite cold, the birria tacos weren’t quite what I was expecting but tasted nice, the beef was quite chewy however. I tasted my friends pulled pork and the tacos tasted almost identical other than hers having something a little sweeter in it. I’d order the pork if I visited again. For a lunch the portion sizes were perfectly fine with the starter we shared, but I wasn’t blown away. I’m glad we tried it but likely won’t revisit. The bill was around £35 for the tacos, one starter, a beer and a Diet Coke and I think there’s better alternatives available in nearby restaurants.

Was really excited to try this out as a food lover / content creator and food reviewer and all love for tacos. The evening started off great , lovely atmosphere and aesthetically pleasing. Staff welcomed us and got to ordering. Sadly some things weren’t available on the menu but nonetheless there were a variety of items to order. The menu stated tacos in 3s but we only received 2 , this was explained as it was a bigger portion so was given 2 of each tacos we ordered. The chicken taco was a strong 7 but sadly it quickly became average in flavour. I also found some hair in my food and felt like staff wasn’t sincere in the apology and wasn’t accommodating to the fault. I was given the choice of having it remade or forgetting it , when i said I would have it remade the impression i got was there’s 40 mins wait on food so ? i then felt like staff didn’t want to bother so i then said leave it. The corn looked great but more so tasted more charred/burnt would get a 5/10. The sweet potato tacos were a 6/10. The cod was a 4 sadly needed a little more flavour in the batter but very crispy. Overall experience 5/10 , i would recommend because it’s a lovely atmosphere and a nice date night. Just unfortunate staff wasn’t accommodating to the mistake made.

Such a lovely new place that’s opened on the docks. My partner and I booked a table but were still given the option to sit outside on the sunny evening. The menu isn’t large but this is likely due to the restaurant just opening a month ago. Regardless, the food was so so good! I do agree the portion sizes could be bigger, but it’s a classy establishment that has that minimalistic rustic vibe going so we didn’t mind at all. The servers were super attentive and the cocktails were amazing. Will defo return!☺️

Just opened, great food and service, affordable too. 3 tacos, an elote each and tortillas split between 2 was a good amount of food. Can get an ice cream from upstairs after if still hungry.

Was excited to try out a New Mexican restaurant in Gloucester but was left a bit disappointed. Portions are more of a little snack/ lunch. Jackfruit tacos were so salty it was unpleasant, was offered the alternative of sweet potato tacos which had no sweet potato in them just black burnt charcoal bits. We left hungry. Such a shame! Atmosphere and decor was lovely.

Gorgeous interiors and was super excited from the pictures on Instagram to go in and try the food. Unfortunately when we were there a lot of the options weren't available (the loaded corn for example we were told wasn't in season although they have included on socials and summer is the season for corn?) and then two of the four sides were sold out making the menu choices very limited especially for a vegetarian. Drink service was slow and our margaritas weren't cold enough plus had no salt rim, when we told the waitress again told they had run out of salt. I would try it again but on this occasion very disappointed. Also left hungry as tacos are small, which is usually fine when you get options of sides as well, side choices have nothing substantial that would fill you up

We came here last night for my birthday 🎂 absolutely delicious 😋 food. The chefs Josh and Lauren were amazing. The guacamole was the best I’d tried (homemade) we need places like this in such a tranquil location. I would highly recommend you try this place.

We dined here as a party of 4 on day two of opening and were all so impressed. As an avid lover of Mexican food I can highly recommend this place. Not your standard Tex Mex, cheese n rice place, but authentic Mexican food. We 'mixed it up' so I got to try three different tacos and they were all delicious. The level of spicing was spot on the the flavours were fabulous. The salads were an absolute delight too!! Fab cocktails too 😁 The bad news is that I don't live in Gloucester any more but those of you who do are lucky to have this place!!! Although, I am planning my next visit...

Delicious food and lovely, kind service. Accommodative for our children who loved their tacos and guacamole! Highly recommended!
