Elote Tacos in Gloucester

Visited for my birthday lunch, sat outside in the sun and highly recommend the chocolate pancakes!

Took almost an hour to receive our food. Staff are nice and polite but service was slow. Personally, we didn’t enjoy the food.

Absolutely amazing, staff so welcoming and the food was outstanding. Decor so pretty and a wonderful way to spend my birthday! Cannot recommend enough.

Food is incredible me and my partner walked past and could smell the hot coals and it took us back to Mexico! We had the pork tacos which were lush the brisket tacos which were even better again! With a side of papayas mojo verde which accompanied our meal perfectly! Service was brilliant in a great location don’t miss out on this great restaurant

Food is fresh, would recommend booking a table as they said they were understaffed due to not many reservations but had a lot of walk ins. Hence, service was slow but understandable.

Arrived & took a while to be greeted, despite 50% full restaurant. Loud machines going in behind the counter. Front of house & kitchen staff clearly weren’t getting along. Took ages for someone to take our order. Drinks took 20 mins. Margarita was watered down, and I sent it back. Food took ages - after having been there for an hour we left. We went to the ramen restaurant nearby which was great. Also the male cook was intermittently wearing gloves, then taking them off to go on his phone, then finishing dishes & touching food with gloves off. It was really off putting. Really disappointed as we had wanted to go for ages!

Great service and a lovely atmosphere by the docks. Well done interior as well. I am from California and would honestly say these tacos are delicious and authentic... it's just missing that spice I crave in my salsa. But, that's the British palette for ya! I would just suggest having Tapatio or Cholula hot sauce on hand for the spicy lovers!

The beef tacos were a doner kebab by another name… the pork was a bit better, but nothing special. The cocktails were disappointing. Not really Mexican food. I wouldn’t go again.

Absolutely loved our meal. Probably ordered too much food as we were so full but with all the lush flavours but we couldn’t leave any!! The recommendation is 3-4 small plates each, I would argue 3 is right to leave enough room for pud too but I am pleased we tried so many different meals! Highly recommend going. Worth booking first as it is a fairly small restaurant that fills quickly due to its size

Ordered refried beans (£8.50) for takeaway. I opted to eat elsewhere as the indoor area was smoky. While the beans were fine, they were served without any utensils or accompaniments - no cutlery (not even bamboo), no napkins, and no bread to help manage what is essentially a liquid dish. (I asked for cutlery and was repeatedly told no) The beans were very oily and difficult to eat as served. Found it ironic that a traditionally accessible Mexican dish was made both expensive and impractical. Would recommend confirming exactly what's included before ordering, particularly for takeaway items that require utensils. For £8.50, expected more thoughtful execution of this simple dish. Really poor overall unfortunately.

Brilliant service, amazing food and drinks.

The Birra brisket tacos were the best tacos I have ever had In my life, the flavour was sensational and like no other.It tasted like a true Mexican taco.I had Amelia cook for me and her enthusiasm and work ethnic was very good,she is good with customer service and knows how to make a good taco.I would recommend to anyone wanting tacos.

Wow, so good! An actual taqueria with food cooked fresh over charcoal in their open kitchen, and using proper corn meal for their tacos and tortillas. We enjoyed everything we ordered.

Had a lovely meal at elote, would highly recommend the tuna tostadas and the pork carnitas! Also the margs’ are special!

The food tasted really good, a lot of flavour and I was impressed. They were small portions but we were told this and we were only having lunch so it was perfect. The let down was the fact we had to wait an hour to get the food. They did not acknowledge they were slow at orders that day, or let us know at the beginning they were short staff. We felt forgotten. This was very frustrating! I would try this place again though

Wow, 1st time there as they offered a fully gluten free menu and it does not disappoint. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice gluten free lunch, they can also do most things as veggie as well

Fantastic food, everything we had was delicious. I wish I had space for more so I could try the whole menu. Cod tacos were my favourite but don’t miss out on the side dishes too like spicy potatoes and roast cabbage. Thanks to Leo for looking after us.

Menu is limited and you can not tell what you are ordering. Should state if fish is raw or cooked. Does not state this. The only thing was nice was the red wine

Came here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife on the Friday night before Valentine’s. Atmosphere was good, however after being sat we did wait about 15-20min before our server came to take drink orders. We got a Paloma and a Margarita with tequila instead of Mezcal. Drinks were disappointing but still drinkable, they didn’t have much flavor and the Paloma is stated to have normal tequila on the menu but they served it with Mezcal, which is very much an acquired taste as it’s extremely smoky. My wife had to drink my margarita and I drank the Paloma since she doesn’t like Mezcal. Food took about an hour to arrive after ordering, despite us ordering two appetizers which was the elote and salsa trio, which I’d imagine is already prepped and should’ve come out earlier than our main course. However, once the food did arrive, it was all very good. For the main course, we had the potatoes, tuna tostadas, beef birria quesadilla, pork carnitas, and the cod cheek tacos. Beef birria quesadilla and the cod cheek was probably our favorite, both very tasty. Carnitas were our least favorite, but still very good. The elote and salsa trio also really enjoyable, and nice to have salsa for our tacos. All in all it was a very tasty dinner, but really disappointing service and drinks. I would’ve ordered a beer before finishing our food but our server never returned until the food was done. We also would’ve ordered the churros as they looked good, but didn’t want to wait 30+ minutes for dessert and were ready to go home after a total of over 2hrs at this restaurant, most of which was spent waiting. I understand it was a Friday night and the restaurant appeared somewhat busy, but frankly I don’t think waiting an hour for food to arrive is acceptable, especially at what’s supposed to be a nicer restaurant.

Absolutely incredible experience. The food was 10/10, the best mexican food I've had to date. Atmosphere and decor are wonderful, clean inside and out, including the toilet. Service was warm, friendly and we felt so looked after. We shall be back.

Second visit to Elote and it didn’t disappoint. Cocktails were excellent food delicious and despite being rather quiet the atmosphere was charming. The best Tacos we’ve eaten in years and the presentation and service was faultless. If you’re looking for authentic scrumptious Mexican food or, simply something less ordinary please give this lovely little independent restaurant a try. You won’t be disappointed!

The food was divine, such gorgeous flavours. I would highly recommend the brisket tacos. Between three of us, we ordered two snacks, three starters and three mains which was just right. We shared a churros desert as we felt we had to try them. Definitely my new favourite relaxed dining venue in Gloucester. Service was efficient, relaxed and friendly.

Excellent cocktails, especially the Los Altos. We were here on a Saturday. There were only a few other tables, but we waited for food for about 45 minutes. I can't imagine how long the wait would have been had it been busy. The tuna tostada was very good, the brisket tacos were okay, though the broth really was overwhelming, taking away from the meat flavor. The jackfruit was very good, but would benefit from more exposure to the spices and a longer slow cook. The staff was nice.

The food was absolutely amazing, it is tough to find authentic mexican food outside of Mexico, but Elote’s kitchen staff nailed it. The service was absolutely awful, purely reacting to our requests and doing the bare minimum. We asked for activities or colouring pads/pens for the kids to keep them occupied, this was ignored by the waiter & upon leaving the restaurant, we saw they had a collection of colouring pens for kids by the till. What a shame, as we left feeling massively disappointed by the service.

2nd visit absolutely wonderful again food was beautiful cannot recommend this place enough 1st) Just passing this evening and tripped over the threshold… WoW and what treasure this place is! All food was served “hot and Staff are very attentive. A total pleasure to dine here this evening.

Had an amazing time with my friend, went in for a couple of amazing cocktails and some tacos and patatas, amazing Service from the waitress (i think her name was Lauren but i cant remember haha). Great experience, beautiful place with amazing atmosphere, and good recommendations for the area and later drinks! Will 1000% be coming again!!

This was my second time at Elote tacos. I was so impressed by it the first time, I simply had to arrange our works Christmas party to be held at Elote. We had the most amazing three course meal for a table of 15. The food was cooked to perfection with excellent presentation. All the team, Leo, Lauren, Amelia and Rani ensured our whole experience was exceptional from the minute we walked in the door. Would highly recommend to other potential Christmas party bookings or celebratory meals to book now, you won't be disappointed. Let's not forget the huge portion of amazing churros.

We visited Elote as a large group for our Christmas party, the atmosphere and setting of this restaurant is lovely. The service and the food was just exceptional. To provide this level of service is not always easy when it is a larger group but the team here were brilliant, they had everyone's order named so there was no confusion and also any drinks were added by name so there was not that awkward trying to split the bill situation at the end of the evening! The food was very tasty and all came out quickly and at the same time. Lovely evening had by everyone! Thank you!

Best Mexican food since Mexico ! Had a fab meal guys we loved it including the margaritas and tequila but the guacamole and the tuna ceviche were to die for.
