Honestly the worst place I have ever dined would not recommend at all, food was absolutely shocking tasted all frozen the waitress were lovely but the place is lacking a lot the owner is so rude do not recommend save your money and go somewhere else

A birthday dinner for our son...very good Italian food, a little bit over priced for what it was, but we had a great evening.

Went here with my wife and a few friends and I can honestly say that Sergio’s is one of the best restaurants in Bristol. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced, the staff were excellent and I cannot recommend this place enough.

After reading several reviews we were a little reticent about coming to this place but the food was was outstanding and we were not disappointed, the staff were amazing, very polite and welcoming, the restaurant itself was very unique and cosy and warm. We enjoyed our visit and will be back in the future 😀

What an amazing little find, this place is an absolute gem. The food is extremely fresh and presented beautifully. Warm and welcoming friendly staff that go above and beyond. Unfortunately we aren't local but the next time we are in Bristol we will most definitely be back. Thank you so much for looking after us and making us feel extremely welcome 🫶

Great little restaurant, so close to the Hippodrome, menu was comprehensive, we selected 4 meals from the Al a carte, every one of them was so tasty, fresh & plentiful, the ambiance was delightful, the service was spot on, with the usual flair from an Italian restaurant, will use next time we are in Bristol.

Sergio's is probably the most italian restaurant we've seen in UK. Proper italian pizza, with natural ingredients. Pretty nice house wine. Perfect for romantic dinner - with atmospheric music in the background, and Sergio himself ready to advise or chat if you prefer. The place looks great, food taste even better.

I met up with friends to have a meal prior to going to see Gaz Coombes & Johnny Marr at the 02. Its a bit out of the way but the meals were all well received. The pizza was mire than I could eat and two of us had a spicy beef pizza which was just that! Good atmosphere & friendly staff.

Too many tables. Tables too small for plates. We're used to eating in small places in italy, but this is uncomfortable. Staff stood over tables staring at us. cheap coloured napkins left stains on friends top. Antipasto was a rip off. Cheap meats. Bland breads. Pasta was bland. Pizzas over £20 each for what looked and tasted like frozen bases. Cheese was sour like dried cheddar . Staff forgot to take orders for 2 of the group. None of us could fake eating the food so we left everything. We couldn't get out of there quick enough. And when we went to the owner to pay he joked "give me the money". Pizzas were boxed for us, but we threw them in the bin. I don't think this is run by Italians. They'd never allow it. Bill was over £120+ 10% added on by owner.

Don’t get fool by the environment, food is overpriced, owner/manager is disrespectful towards employees, owner keep all the tips. Dirty utensils. Don’t have a good experience overall. Will never go back to that place.

Sergio’s is a quaint little restaurant serving great wine and authentic italian food. our waitress was waitress was so lovely and attentive. the atmosphere was great & Sergio himself was very lively. he took great interest into our lives & backgrounds as well as deeply telling us about his own. For great food & conversation with the owner, we’d definitely recommend :)

The restaurant suffers from a serious lack of space with a table for 4 not enough accommodate individual 4 pizzas When asked staff what would they recommend, we were informed none of the staff actually eat in the restaurant since it was too expensive. The pizza we ordered (vegatarian with goats cheese) was very salty and we could only manage to try 2 slices between 3 of us since it was so salty. For the money charged (our bill came to £150.00 between 4 people), I would strongly recommend try any other option.

Amazing food, although over priced (£20 for a spaghetti). Place feels a little tired, and small things like having no soap in the bathroom, unclean toilet area and hand dryer not working is not what you would expect, when you are paying over average prices. They also seemed a bit short staffed

My brother and I had an amazing time really great food. Very hearty and we received a very warm welcome from the owner and staff everyone was super nice. 11/10 would recommend.

Went here for Valentine’s Day and left crying. The food was horrifically overpriced- our bill came to over 100 pounds for some of the blandest food and smallest portions I’ve ever seen, including a piece of cheese on some lettuce for starter and a bit of fish with one potato for main. Me and my partner are only 21 and students so don’t have much money, we asked to split the bill and Sergio began to bully my boyfriend for about 20 minutes about him not paying. He refused to let us split and got the table next to us involved and the waitress to come and laugh at us. He also informed us that he only told his daughters to marry for money and i should do the same. When he finally let us pay he proceeded to overcharge us by 20 pounds, which we failed to realise at the time as he didn’t give us a receipt of the payment even though we asked for it. Don’t support this vile money-grabbing misogynist.

Initially I was having a lovely time as a delayed valentines with my boyfriend. The service was slow but this was to be expected as it was a busy Friday night, the waitress was lovely. The food was adequate and severely over priced. Additionally the owner was the reason we shall not be returning. He was very condescending towards me. Essentially ’man splaining’ what my line of work was about which was what I’m a professional in. It made me and my boyfriend very uncomfortable. He also passed comment on the gay bar opposite the venue saying “what a romantic view”. Overall it’s a shame a lovely venue is being tainted by the management there.

Food is mediocre at best, and wildly overpriced. Visited for the Valentine’s day set menu and was disappointed by the bland food that was served to us, especially at £45 a head. The two paltry scallops I had for my starter were grainy and we did not find any of the dishes particularly exciting or flavourful in any way. Glasses were dirty. Our waitress was disengaged and didn’t seem to know what she was doing, but from what I’ve heard of the bullying way Sergio treats his staff I am not surprised. The worst part was that when we came to pay, Sergio came to the table and mocked us excessively for wanting to split the bill, ridiculing me to the table next to us and the waitress. After he did so, he overcharged our bill and did not give me a receipt for the payment. Please do not fall for this man’s deceptive outward friendliness. We will not be returning under any circumstances.

The waitress was really nice. However, the owner was very condescending towards my girlfriend which made what was a nice date one we wanted to exit the restaurant as fast as possible to go to another venue. The food was also very overpriced for the quality.

I was initially having a nice time in my couple and the food was good. However, the manager came over to chat and the conversation came across as condescending and rude. I felt like he was explaining my job to me as a medical professional and questioning my intelligence from what was meant to be just a nice meal out with my partner. It’s a shame as the venue is lovely however we will not be returning because of this.

For decades this has been my favorite restaurant in the city and it still doesn't disappoint! Absolutely amazing food!

It is a very cozy Italian restaurant, well decorated, accordingly with the theme of an Italian house, Sergio the owner is a very friendly and kind person, but for me the best part was the food, I ordered pasta meat balls and they were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place

Sergio seems charming - do not let yourself be fooled!!! The few months I worked at sergios were the worst experience I’ve had in my years of working in hospitality. He is cruel, he is a bully I was told initially that tips were shared on an honour based system. When I got tipped, he took the whole amount - it wasn’t shared between anyone. When I didn’t get tipped the next shift, he threatened to dock my wages He doesn’t give staff proper food and safety or steps of service training. He also doesn’t allow staff water, or to talk to eachother He sits in the kitchen, watching the CCTV and waiting for staff to make inevitable mistakes, due to the immense pressue he puts on them. Instead of helping them as a real manager should, he reprimands them, embarrasses and abused them in front of customers and behind the scenes - incredibly cruel. He made me cry on more than one occasion. Sergio is a bully and is undoubtedly the worst person I have ever worked for - which can be shown in his high turn around of staff. Who wants to work for a bully? Please, do not support this buisness - go to one of the many other excellent restaurants in Bristol city center.

Sergio’s is an excellent, intimate and authentic Italian restaurant. The food was lovely and Sergio was attentive and friendly finding time to talk to and recall all guests names. The Bolognese was delicious and the starters really yummy. I would definitely go again

What a little gem. We had good information to go here and it did not disappoint! Plenty of choice of food. Starter was incredible...Olives to simply die for.....that oil 💞. Risotto was delicious. The man himself, Sergio, came and spoke to us, a lovely touch. Wonderful man. We live in Lancashire......but visit Bristol regularly, so we will be back. Piece of advice for prospective customers......go to Sergios!

Had a stunning birthday dinner at Sergio's last night with family! Every dish was gorgeous, with special mentions to the mushroom starter and the incredible fish stew. Service was attentive and thoughtful, and a lovely atmosphere. This feels like a hidden gem, under the bridge! Will be back 🙌

Sergio treats his staff horribly. No contracts and completely underpayed. If they are sick, he finds it unacceptable and fires them. I’ve known several people to work there and all have trauma from his actions. Please don’t eat there and encourage this behaviour.

Went to Sergio’s after my graduation today. The food was lovely and very flavourful. Perfect meal for a perfect occasion. Cannot recommend enough and plan on returning in the future.

Sorry felt it was overpriced. Most main dishes around £20 and quality of food doesn't match the price. Some of our dishes too salty. Quantity was fine. Service was good and we felt welcomed, although felt a little rushed through the meal. Overall, pleasant but just don't think worth the price tag.

Food was tasty and hot. Mix up on the order, when asked if no chilli in sauce was told no, only to find chunks of fresh red chilli in each dish. Servers were apologetic after the meal.

Absolutely delicious. Ordered as takeout and it’s up there with anything Ive had in NY and Italy…seriously good.

In my last trip to Bristol a friend recommended me the Tiramisu from this place so I went and it was one of the best Tiramisu I've tried. If you are in the city it is a must place to visit!

Lovely restaurant. Very Italian colours inside , tables nicely spaced and the staff are very attentive, friendly and polite. Sergio himself chatted to us as we came in and before leaving. Food was very tasty and good size portions. Highly recommended. I would definitely go again.

Group of 5 adults. We all enjoyed our meal. Restaurant was very packed and as we were seated near the bar and kitchen we felt the busy-ness of the waiting staff passing us constantly. I felt it would have been a more relaxing evening if the restaurant had less covers and each table was given more space. A little pricey at £20 for a pizza. However, that said we will return.

Exactly what you would want from a classic family run Italian restaurant. A lovely little hole in the wall, full of authenticity from the great hosts to the artwork on the walls and the rustic menu. We had a chicken dish and a venison dish that were both cooked beautifully and the service was personal and attentive. The wine could be argued as a little on the pricey side but overall a great experience and would definitely recommend and return!

Sergio's is likely to become one of my favourite Bristol restaurants. The food was exceptional including the best Tiramisu I've ever had! Service was perfect, Sergio himself came around and checked on everyone including personalised chats - the whole thing felt like a genuine family run passion project The atmosphere is very romantic, this is such a good date spot!

Still waiting for an apology. Google maps tells me 1,000 people have read my review, left in July 2022, yet.... I am still no closer to receiving an apology! I booked a table for a special birthday meal. 10 mins before the restaurant should have been open we noticed the kitchen door was open. We returned at noon but everything was closed, no answer when we knocked, only voice mail when I phoned. I sent 2 emails during the afternoon but got no reply. When I phoned again in the evening I was told Sergio would see my messages after service ended and was assured he would contact me today. The person to whom I spoke said the phone rings elsewhere and blamed the head chef for the restaurant not opening at noon. What a way to run a business! I won't be wasting my time booking again. As it happened yesterday was Bristol Uni graduation day so getting a table elsewhere was not easy. Thanks for spoiling our special occasion.

Went here for a quick dinner after work. We weren't very hungry and they accommodated that without any fussy. Staff are delightful and the food was very tasty. Would definitely recommend

Lovely food. Booked for 4 people and charged a deposit of £10 a head. On receiving the bill I was told that only £30 could be taken off the bill as one member of our party was unfortunately unwell and couldn't attend. I understand how deposits work however we had spent over £120. When I suggested that I wouldn't pay the service charge I was told that at Christmas time it wasn't discretionary. Point of law this isn't true. Although the meal was lovely, the owners attitude was very short sighted, we have dined here many times not sure we will again. 🙁

We really enjoyed our evening here. Booked for a Special Occasion and Sergio came out for a chat and gave us complimentary lemon shots. Massive vegan menu, lovely house red wine and a very family styled environment. Would definitely return.

My mother and I went to this venue on Tuesday (6th December 2022) and OMG!! Not only was the food INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS but the staff were wonderful! Sergio was super lovely (as was the waiter) and really made us feel welcome. They were very kind and accommodating to us as we had a concert at the O2 next door and the food was quick and divine! The atmosphere was wonderful and the decor felt like we were actually in Italy! We are definitely visiting again!! What a beautiful gem in the heart of Bristol ❤️

Small local restaurant with good food, though some dishes were better than others (seafood spaghetti was very good). Food came out fairly quick and the waiter was attentive. The price is a bit steep but I'm happy with what I got.

The most picturesque Italian institution in Bristol. Not only the food is good but it s a rare place in Bristol where you can eat after 10 pm that is not a take away. This place has not deceived me a single time for the past ten years. Always an eclectic crowd of eccentric Bristolian, party goers, theatre actors, technicians, dancers, singers, I just love it. And the service is impeccable.

My husband and I had a fabulous experience at Sergio's while visiting Bristol last week. We loved the atmosphere and the charm of the place - you can tell it's a family run restaurant (but in the nicest way!). I am still dreaming about the food we ate - just divine. We ordered one dessert to share and after that went back for a second; it was just so good. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The service was so fast aswell - just overall it was wonderful

The worst in Bristol. Utterly shamblolic service. Was told we'd have a table at 19:45 which was honoured. We sat down and were not even acknowledged for 30 minutes. No request for drinks or food for the whole time. Following this we left and received a frosty response. Man cannot live by bread alone, and certainly not at Sergio's.

Sergio’s is top notch! I’ve been here a few times now and I can’t fault them, every experience has been great. The owner is so accommodating and genuine and the staff are quick with service and friendly. Also, the vegan options are amazing with a lot of choice which is refreshing. Wonderful! Sergio is so nice, seated 8 people with 20 minute notice, one hour from closing. Food was absolutely delicious, we plan on coming back tomorrow! The house white wine.

Nicely seasoned riso but was served an unripe tomato in caprese which for summer time is not ok. All in all an ok experience but pricey for the execution

Absolute shambles doesn't deserve even one star. My wife and her sister booked a table for lunchtime today. It was a birthday treat prior to going to a show at the hippodrome. The table was booked in advance and the booking was accepted so all was set for their day. They arrived on time only to find that the restaurant was closed. If this is how they treat their customers they don't deserve any stars.

No longer BYO WINE. Sergio's is a long established traditional Italian resaurant serving excellent, authentic Italian dishes. Quite romantic in a tightly packed in, noisy, kind of way. The antithesis of Pizza Express. And the experience is enhanced by their BYO wine policy with modest corkage (they also provide wine from their own list). The best Italian restaurant of its sort in Bristol.

Horrendously overpriced, poor service, incorrect orders and the prawn linguine is ridiculously spicy even though the menu states otherwise. Would avoid in the future.

What a shambles, owner/manager shouting at staff, poor waiting staff looked young, inexperienced and out of their depth. Uncomfortable to witness. Waitress told me the owner keeps the tips! Food below average, regrettable visit. Bristol has plenty of better restaurants. AVOID!!

This is an expensive, cheap Italian with lovely staff. What I mean by that is, the food is really mediocre, and the staff are lovely. The interior is kinda kitsch but it’s cozy and sweet and the staff and the atmosphere is so good that you don’t really mind. But the prices are astronomical. If the prices were lower I would be giving 5 stars. Or if the quality of the food was much higher I would be giving 5 stars. But you seriously can’t charge £18 for a pizza and £19 for a pasta if the quality is this average. I’ve had better pizzas for half the price in Bristol.

Unfortunately I can only describe our dinner at Sergio as a huge disappointment. And hugely overpriced.

After an unexpected delay on return home to France we had a night in Bristol, a city myself and my wife had lived in for 27 years previously. A lot has changed since then and weirdly every restaurant other than a take away in the city centre and park street seems to shut at 9 30pm? Anyhow we remembered there was a restaurant on frogmore street and we were pleased to see it was open. Sergio is a great host, made us feel welcome and we really enjoyed the pizza and dessert. I do not understand the negative reviews as it certainly was not what we experienced. We will be back when we next come back to Bristol.

Visited here tonight 4th Feb 22 was really looking forward to a good evening service was terrible waited ages to be seated even though staff looked at us several times . Once seated took another 20 mins to give a menus and take our drink order which took another 15 mins to arrive finally took our food order . I ordered the roasted veg risotto off the vegan menu when it came the veg wasn't roasted it wasjust chunks of courgette and pepper which were hard and cold rice was raw and the meal was cold ordered more drinks had to ask twice more for them as waitress seemed to have forgotten very dissappointed would have complained there and then if only we could have got the attention of staff to complain

Food was excellent but owner was very rude indeed. rushing us to order food as he said they were to busy and the couple next to us walked out in disgust due to the very poor service The other staff were lovely but the rudest restaurant owner i have ever experienced we wont be going back ever

Good atmosphere, worth the price

Nice local place, that gives off a vibe of a family owned restaurant. Cosy sitting and good food. Staff is very kind and welcoming. They have good selection of wine and lots on the menu.

Been here many times and always had great service and excellent food. Down-to-earth proper ‘home cooked’ Italian food and very tasty it is too. Can get busy when the nearby theatres are open for business.

Sadly, Sergios was not what I hoped it would be. The service was fantastic however the food just wasn’t up to scratch. It felt very overpriced for what I was served. The pasta looked and tasted like the dried pasta you get in tescos for 20p a bag. It tasted nice, but definitely not worth the money paid. Would I come back again? Probably not. The price and quality of food just didn’t quite match despite the friendly staff and service.

Recently spent a weekend in Bristol with my partner. We hadn't booked anything on our first night, and the hotel food, whilst looking good, we opted to wait for another night for. Venturing into the evening, I spotted a flag on the street below advertising Sergio's Italian. It's dimly lit, off the main track, with brilliant service and excellent food. It's a perfect slice of Italy in the heart of Bristol. A reasonable length wine list is enough to accompany everything on the menu, although you can bring your own bottle should you wish. The menus adorn every wall, and it's a bigger venue than it first appears. My partner had the Penne Chicken in Blue Cheese Sauce, and I had the Sausage Risotto. Both were delectable, and I'm reliably told that the Tiramisu is one of the best she's ever had. Simply put, this is probably the best Italian you'll find outside of Italy. I look forward to returning.

Food was ok... but didn't blow us away. It was a good job we went at lunch time and took advantage of the (limited) lunch menu as this restaurant is pricey! At nearly £20 each for pasta dishes. They actually got our food order wrong but we didn't have the time to have a new dish cooked with it being lunch time on a working day so we just ate what we were given but they still charged us the service fee which was a little bit of a blow. Probably wont return.

Charming old world Italian with over priced, not overly authentic Italian food. What Italian puts coriander in pasta or peppers on a four seasons pizza. None We have ever been too. Extortionate prices for mediocre food. Shame as we were so looking forward to it. Sergio himself was charming but watching him and the staff it seemed they were out of their depth.

Food was really good... but.. had to ask where our drinks were after 20 mins. Were charged for 5 meals for 4 of us but only spotted after paying. When asked for a refund it took 3 attempts, and had to point out they should also refund the mandatory 10% service charge, when service was non existent.

Cosy place, great food, but wouldn't allow an elderly lady to have a smaller meal.
