This was a surprise birthday treat. The welcome was amazing. All the staff were helpful and very attentive. I loved the whole ethos of the place. The food was incredible. We have had taster menus in many places and this was probably the best. A perfect evening. We will be returning.

We were accompanying friends who were celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary; they chose this restaurant with the Relaxed Tasting multicourse course menu, where every course is a surprise! The food was absolutely excellent, taking some 3 hours to work through, and yet not feeling bloated at the conclusion of it. Paul Hugill is a very talented chef, who appears from time to time to inquire how the taste buds are coping with experience. The support team are just as passionate about one's experience as the chef is and help make for a very entertaining evening. An eating extravaganza not to be missed!

Great evening at the Relaxed Tasting. Food was excellent and to support this venture run by Paul Hugill is important. The hotel supports their local community and provides opportunities for vulnerable persons.

A memorable meal at the Serendipity combining Fathers Day, my birthday and 45 years celebrating them with my wife. We chose the 'taster menu' (the only couple doing so on this particular evening) based on reviews and it was an undoubted success from start to finish. Personal service was expected as standard, but the chef's attendance at each course (lost count after No 13!) describing content, source (all local) and his take on how he intended to deliver them enhanced the experience. We also enjoyed the surprise allocation to our own dining area, a large bay windowed room overlooking the beautiful grounds to the rear of the hotel. My memory fails me to describe individual courses in detail, but I clearly recall how much I enjoyed each one of them, often because they were new, inventive and meticulously prepared and presented. In short, I will return because service and quality of this standard is rare, and at such fair prices. Daniel, Lowan, Ben, Richard and Tom deserve special mention. However important the food and cooking is, results depend on the team delivering it. Their dedication, enthusiasm and passion underline why The Priory is so successful in it's aims. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I will return to savour it again. Thanks to all at The Priory.

For our annual weekend reunion (going on 25 years) we always try to find a good local restaurant/dining experience. Serendipity did not disappoint. The service, staff and chef were all brilliant. For a local taster menu, the food was excellent(we think we had 11 plates (the wine list was good) . it's not Michelin but is interesting, varied and very well prepared. The chef did a great job of accommodating our 'no red meat' friend and we were very impressed the ambience and ethos. Overall a great dining experience.

We visited as a large group of friends which the venue really lends itself to with several small rooms acting as private dining rooms. This was the first time any of us had visited but certainly won’t be the last. The food was excellent, not one of the numerous courses disappointed (we had the taster menu) and the wine was really good too, although we would gladly have bought more. The staff are attentive and clearly passionate about what they do which is refreshing to see these days!! I did feel they undersold the wine (we are quite a keen wine drinking group!) so maybe missed a trick there but overall it was a great dining experience and so nice to see such a passionate team of people. We were even treated to a tour of the place where the history and ethos were explained to us which really enhanced the occasion. Well done Team Serendipity, we look forward to seeing you again.

OMG! First time we have ever used the restaurant and what a treat! We had the taster menu, which was such an extravaganza of different tastes to set your taste buds wanting more. Portions were perfect and the time between each dish was just right. It is advertised as 7 courses but Paul, the chef gave us 10 course? All the staff, Lowan, Tom, Ben and Daniel were such loverly people, friendly and just couldn’t do enough for us and this is just a small part of the Serendipity Charity (Brilliant Paul, such a worthwhile cause) well fantastic food, excellent service for a very special girl on her birthday Eleanor x

The Priory was excellent! The staff were very courteous and nothing was too much for them! We had an overnight stay in the four poster bed, room 12, for my wife’s 70th birthday! Although the building is in need of a little TLC, the the ambience and decor more than make up for it! We had the Priory Taster Menu, advertised 5-7 course, but we had 10 courses! The food is not Michelin star, but the food served was local, fresh and cooked and presented well! We ate in the Captains room, just the two of us and had a great time! We were dining for over 2.5 hours! Paul, the chef came out and explained what ingredients were used etc and was very affable! Our only moan was breakfast was not to a very good standard! This did not spoil our stay and we fully intend to visit again!

We were taken to this amazing place whilst staying with our friends who have moved to Louth. What a great night it was. Out 10 courses were all very different and really tasty. Lovely food experience in a beautiful setting. The staff are helpful, polite and welcoming. I had the vegetarian taster menu and my friend who I went with, had the standard meaty menu. It was advertised as 7 courses, but the chef had made a few extra and we were lucky enough to try 12. Really tasty options. Make sure you leave space for the desserts. The chocolate fondant was delicious. If you are in the area, you definitely need to go!

A truly fabulous night. The tasting menu was amazing - 10 different dishes offered, every plate returned empty, no mean feat for 7 individual tastes. we all especially like the miso and butternut tea, the pulled pork and the strawberry fool, but each course was a favourite with at least one person round the table. The staff could not have been more welcoming or attentive and the ambience of the building lent itself to a truly wonderful evening. Highly recommended.

Where do I start! We went for the taster menu dinner last night, the biggest welcome hug from Daniel! Looked after by Ben and Tom very well. We relaxed in the garden first so peaceful and pretty, then seated ready for the main event! We certainly were in for a treat, in fact 10 courses!!…. Course after course of tasty treats that certainly got the tastebuds flowing. Rowen popped out from time to time to make sure all was well and talk about the ingredients. A very pleasant young man with big ambitions, watch this space!! Daniel popped in from time to time for a chin wag, telling us of his latest happens and movie talk. It’s always lovely to chat away with the staff, so very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Paul also checking how things were and taking the time to say hello. We really love The Priory, and absolutely love the ethos of the place giving amazing people the chance to shine, whilst been a hub of the community. We so looked forward to our seven course taster meal but we were so dissatisfied from the the beer that smelt horrible to the ridiculous courses that started with an egg cup and a tea pot with what tasted like an oxo cube and hot water and then a small round tart which was overcooked and then asparagus which was raw followed by a bowl with ham hock enough to fill a teaspoon followed by something swirled in a bowl that was possibly potato and something vegetable , at that point we asked for the bill we were charged £87 and we went home and ate a cheese sandwich. I know it is a charity but something is seriously wrong and clearly people are scared to leave an honest review , for me a terrible embarrassing experience

Really amazing atmosphere at this place. Kind of magical. Or maybe it was the wine and the beautiful ambience of this place. We throughly enjoyed our night. The best chef I’ve ever eaten from. Delicious taster menu full of fresh locally sourced inventive seasonal dishes. We had about 11 different courses at a reasonable price. We love it here and will keep coming so long as it is there. They have a great policy with their staff. The waiters and cooks are part of a second chance scheme and some have learning difficulties, they get the opportunity to work there and gain valuable life and social skills. We had a fantastic wedding, some said it was the best they'd ever been to. Just saying. Our room was nicely appointed with a great touch of an anniversary card from the team. Then a knock on the door preceeded a complimentary sherry for us. Wow. The food comprised their famous taster menu. Fantastic local produce, not pretentious just nicely presented. Each course was fantastic. I think I counted 7 mains and 3 deserts. Included was a shot of tequila mixed with ginger beer and coriander. Amazing taste. Paul had time to chat after service with his guests and I'm sure received glowing praise for his food. The rest of the team were awesome and worked hard whilst being very nice and polite. The food is of a high standard, the same as the tasting menu and yet I have given it an equal rating. The reason for this is the price £15 for 3 courses as opposed to the £42.50 for the 7 course menu. The quality of food is better than average, with the desert being amazing. The service was great from start to finish But the building itself is in many ways the star of the show; We ate in a gin room and had it too ourselves.

The staff obviously love what they are doing the enthusiasm shines through and is so good to see. Superb taster menu, fabulous staff and stunning surroundings, love the quirky rooms. If you haven’t already, give this place a try, it’s not just a restaurant/hotel, it’s an experience. An overnight stay with the taster menu is a must for the lovers of all things interesting, rare and historic. The Priory offers a wonderfully ramshackle step back into the surroundings of a small country house hotel, still with the grandeur and personal service you will not get at main stream corporate venue. If you are looking for that, then don't go here. But if you are looking for an experience of truly wonderful food and surroundings which are interesting and eclectic, then book and enjoy. The grounds are open to guests and a visit to the Natural Spring fed pond is worth seeing, as it the force the spring still has, and the beauty of what we thought was a summer house, which is in fact the mausoleum of one of the founders. Paul and his team are a force to be topped by anywhere else I have stayed. The evening was topped off by a surprise Birthday Cake for my partner that we were able to share with others in the Hall dinning room. An amazing touch, and this being remembered from the booking made with Paul and an unexpected demonstration of the values and detail the team will go to. Book and enjoy.

Attended a family wedding held at the Serendipity and enjoyed a fabulous 9 course wedding breakfast. The menu featured wonderful and imaginative dishes topped off with lovely hand-made chocolates. Paul and the Team were amazing and made the day so special with exceptional service and family atmosphere. The hotel has lots of character and the grounds that the hotel are set in are beautiful.

My daughter had her wedding breakfast at the Serendipity and it was stunning. The Chef Paul picks local produce and we had 5 courses followed by a desert and cheese table which were outstanding. The regular taster menu has also been outstanding each time we have eaten there.

We had a tasting menu this evening, every course was faultless!! I can honestly say I found not eat another thing. It was a nice finishing touch to have the chef serve the final course, well worth the price for anyone wanting to try this kind of food. (There was also a choc brownie but it got eaten before remembering a photo)!!

The family decided to book a table for my husband's 60th birthday on a Saturday night. We wanted somewhere that was different from your normal meal out. This was definitely the right place! There were 8 of us and we were positioned in one of their private dining rooms. It was beautiful: full of charm. The tasting menu was just perfect. It's not just the delicious food, it's the way each course is presented on different crockery and dishes. It's exciting, as you don't know what's coming next. The staff are so accommodating and friendly - they love to chat and it's a pleasure to engage with them. We were extremely well looked after and would recommend this fine place, without a doubt. A birthday cake was presented to my husband at the end of the night: that was a nice touch. Paul, the owner takes care in all that he prepares and presents - it's all in the detail. Thanks for an exceptional evening, from us all.

We have pleasurably dined many times at the Priory and have never been disappointed by Paul , Loretta and the boys and girls. Service is excellent, the food is varied and well cooked and presented. The atmosphere of the quirky building adds to the overall delight of an evening spent there. Their B&B; rooms are lovely too.

This is our third visit to the Serendipity for the taster meal and it just gets better. The food is superb and the staff are brilliant. We went to celebrate a birthday with friends, one of whom has quite particular dietary requirements. We spoke with Paul a few days prior to our night out and he ensured the needs of all our group were catered for. Yes, the place is quirky but in a nice kind of way. The staff looked after us in a professional and caring manner, without being intrusive, they truly are a great team who mad3 our night so special. A big, big thank you to you all. We will be back!

Came here for a birthday celebration with family. Tasting menu was very interesting / exciting. The staff and chef were all stars, very keen to explain what we were eating etc. The room we ate in was cosy, intimate and spectacular (The old Headmaster's Study). The wine list was very well chosen and not overpriced. We had a great meal and a very memorable evening

Paul and his team did it again, a charming welcome to the Priory; attentive service, luscious surroundings and a delicious meal. Three of us had the ten course taster menu. One of us is veggie and she appreciated a really high standard of interesting dishes, rather than other restaurants' "same but without the meat" approach. The progression and range of courses was balanced and varied, including some lovely kofte and a catfish chowder. The bubblegum ice cream split the pack, but I liked it as it sat well with the warm chocolate brownie. Thanks again to the Priory for the unique and welcoming experience.

We visited for the tasting menu and it was a great evening. It's difficult to sum it up as it's the concept/ethos of the place, combined with a unique style and service from people who seem to love what they do and are thrilled to welcome you in a genuine way. The food is a good talking point and it was good just to be presented with dishes not knowing in advance what they would be. They adapted the menu for me because I don't eat meat which was really welcome. Thanks for a memorable evening!

We have just enjoyed such a fab visit to The Priory. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by Paul and his brilliant team. The hotel is quirky, stylish, comfortable, stunning and really interesting. We had our own dining room (probably best we can be a bit loud!) and enjoyed the amazing taster menu. Innovative cooking, local ingredients and so so tasty. We stayed over and cannot recommend this lovely place, highly enough. What a breath of fresh air, thank you all so much, we will be back.

When people decide to visit a restaurant they generally look on trip advisor and surmise the various reviews and then make their decision. If you had read the reviews for the Priory you would probably think is it really that good? Have the reviews been bought? Well, let me reassure you the Priory is up there with the top restaurants in the UK. The friendly staff were always on hand to help and everything ran like clockwork. If anyone out there is looking for quality food please visit the Priory, you will not be disappointed. Many thanks to Paul and all his staff.

I went here with my partner for a romantic dinner. We had Chef Paul's tasting menu. All I can say is wow! Being a very frequent traveller and foodie I can safely say that this restaurant could hold it's own with Michelin Star rated establishments around the world. From beginning to end this was a top notch dining experience. From the romantic candlelit table setting in the historic Gin room to the personalized service, we could not have asked for better. The food was an exciting and truly surprising blend of regional dishes (around 10 courses, so don't eat before you go) with international influence using almost entirely local ingredients, featuring delicate seasonings and unique presentation. The staff at Serendipity are first rate, professional and most of all warm and friendly. Everyone seems to truly love what they do. Special thanks to Loretta, Daniel and Thomas and of course Paul for doing what you do... Oh and one more thing, the real shocker came when we got the bill. The quality of food, service and surroundings are worthy of 3-4 times more than we paid for this fantastic culinary experience. Go to Serendipity at the Priory Louth, you won't be disappointed!!!

I originally booked to go for a tasting session on my wife's birthday in November but due to some miscommunication (from both sides!) we had to reschedule. We booked the only date in December we could do (20th) and are so glad we did. From the minute we arrived we felt at home. Everybody was friendly and looked like they were happy both to be there, and to look after us. The food was of a very high standard, the atmosphere second to none. We're already planning a second visit. Thanks very much to everyone for making it such a wonderful evening.

We returned to our favourite place for an overnight stay and to enjoy the amazing Taster menu thanks to a voucher bought by our son. On our arrival there was a confusion as we had requested ‘The Four Poster’ room as we had got married at The Priory and always prefer to stay in this room. Paul couldn’t apologise enough and to compensate he waivered the room fee and placed us in an equally comfortable room with complimentary wine.

Dined with friends last night to celebrate a birthday and what a night. The food was Amazing. One of the Best tasting menu' s ever. Each course was succulent, full of flavour and just melt in the mouth delicious and oh my goodness the home made chocolates were to die for! A true culinary artist at work. The private dining room with soft lamps reflecting off warm wood created a cozy relaxed and welcoming ambiance. All this topped of by friendly first class service from Loretta, Thomas and Ben and a Happy Birthday serenade from Daniel. Sincere Thanks to all the Priory Team for an Amazing night. Took my parents for Sunday lunch. It was busy. Staff were friendly and polite. The menu is extensive and the roasts are not just your standard meat and veg. I had the chicken breast wrapped in pancetta with apricot stuffing. The chicken was tender and moist. The stuffing was lovely but I would have like a little more of it. The Yorkshire pudding was excellent if you prefer your pudding not to crispy. Very nice cauliflower cheese but the stork of it needed more cooking. The beef was very tender but ask for a steak knife as the normal knives just pull it apart. We had extra gravy and it was very good.

Brilliant service, stunning food. The kids enjoyed the homemade vegan and gluten free food and have asked to go back for the tegg, sausages and faken. The wife and I absolutely loved our pick and mix breakfasts (and the free cuppa top up!) & had a lovely chat with the family that own the place while they prepared our food. First place we've been able to go where they can cater for all of our needs, fantastic! Will most definitely be back!!
