A classic Worthing pub which has recently been reopened under new management. The pub feels much fresher whilst they have managed to retain their emphasis on a large variety of modern craft beers, real ales and ciders. Their beer list changes constantly, and there is something new to try every time I've been there.

As average on the inside as its external appearance is. No TV so no sport. Lots of staring if youre not a local.

I was fortunate enough to spend several days on the South Downs with my girlfriend, getting away from the hustle and bustle of London, and in my research for places to visit I came across an online recommendation for the Selden Arms, in Worthing. I was trying to source a couple of favourite, hard-to-find beers, and the Selden sold them. So a visit was very much in order. I had reserved a table several days in advance, and arrived feeling like an excitable child on Christmas morning. From the outside the pup is discreet. Almost underwhelming. Upon entry though the staff instantly - and correctly - assumed we were the London visitors, and showed us to our table. The taps/pumps had an eclectic mix and I sampled several. I approached the bar to inquire about their cans/takeaway options, and made mention of some I desired - the White Mocha Stout by Susses Small Batch, in particular - and placed a rather substantial order with them. As we were buying so many the staff generously offered us a discount (taking £1 off each item). After paying and finishing our drinks our alloted time at the Selden was up and we said our goodbyes and slowly walked out with a box full of beers. I naturally, liked the Selden much more than my girlfriend, but she enjoyed visiting too, and was happy to attend for me. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Selden Arms if you're a real ale connoisseur or just want to sit down in an old fashioned, quiet pub, with an older clientele.

The Selden Arms is a proper local boozer ,not for the lovers of that fizzy foreign lager stuff, but a heaven for real ale drinkers.A small single bar with a good range of beer and a knowledgeable barman who will happily talk you through the attributes of the ales on offer. The decor is a little tired but still a good place to spend a couple of hours and solve the problems of the world.

Found this pub on our last visit and just had to visit again. A must for real ale drinkers with an ever changing range on tap. Word must have got out as on this occasion it was extremely busy - standing room only. Hence we only stayed for a couple but will definitely return.

Had to spend a night in Worthing on business. After checking the internet, found that this was only real pub in the area that was not a "restaurant with a bar". Walked the 4 blocks from my hotel (The Ardington is excellent, small and quite). Soon as I walked in everyone turned to look at me and greet me. Bob behind the bar was very friendly. Had a wonderful time talking to the locals and drinking hand pumped beer from the cellar. Wonderful selection of only local keg beer. Steak and kidney pie for dinner was wonderful (first time trying that!). The ceiling is covered with labels from all the beers they have served.Felt very warm and welcoming. Wish it was located down the street from me back home!!

Interesting quirky pub, unchanged for the 20 plus years I've called in here. Good selection of real ales and some decent craft keg beers. Not really a pub for carling drinkers or pseuds but a real friendly, lively atmosphere. Genuine unpretentious pub.

What a delight this pub is; fine selection of real ales, ciders and one or two Belgian beers. Go on a Friday and there is always a fantastic selection of curries. The atmosphere is of a traditional public house. Great spirit and friendly locals, this is what going to the pub is all about. Next time I plan to go on a Saturday, apparently they have some great local bands in.

What a joy to find a proper pub with no blaring music, basic pub grub and the most enormous and wonderful choice of real ale! We called in to get out of the Easter rain on Sunday evening and stayed for hours. The pub was not packed and it wasn't long before we had started a sing-a-long and, because the kitchen had closed, two local residents popped home and came back with what can only be described as a buffet which they laid out on the bar for everyone! Believe me, none of this is something we would normally do but it just turned into one of those lovely, jolly get togethers. Our party ranged in age from 27 to 88 and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to the barman too who kept the beer flowing! Don't look here for a theme or the latest ghastly musak, just a great pub!

A public house which I visit often at the weekends, and which offers a choice of curries on a Friday night (including a vegan option) and at a reasonable price too.

If you like a true English pub this is the one to visit. A free house with a great local atmosphere and a gem of a landlady.

Myself and my partner came here for dinner for the first time after wanting to try here for a very long time. The Service was fantastic. Can not fault it at all. The foot was great, especially the breads. Would definitely recommend and come here again. So much food. No risk of leaving hungry. Looking forward to our next visit.
