Ami Cafe + Bistro in Worthing

I was expecting a lot better quality of food for the price and the place has no atmosphere. It was completely dead and the staff just seemed really awkward

Fabulous food, generous portions, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, thank you all for a lovely evening.

We chose Ami for my Dad’s 75th Birthday - a booking of 20. We’d communicated weeks in advance regarding the deposits and pre-orders, and my mum called twice to check that the tables would not have anyone sat on the end (as head of table) - once on the day itself - explaining we had a seating plan with everyone opposite one another. We’d pre-agreed with the restaurant that the party would arrive at 6:30pm for drinks, with food from 7:30pm. On arrival, we found they’d split up the party into 2 tables! 1 table was so carelessly laid out that you couldn’t get in on one side and barely the other. Despite having just 2 tables for 2 people in the middle of the room, they wouldn’t do what we asked (and expected) and put us on 1 long table for health and safety. Even having the cheek to say ‘there was no prior discussion on either side about the seating plan’ - if you book a table for any size, you do not expect to be separated without being told at the time of booking! This meant me having to do my best to redo the seating plan rather than being with our guests as they arrived. It also meant 4 sets of people being on the end of the tables rather than 2, and 10 people with backs to each other. More importantly, separating my parents on Dad’s special evening. Having arrived for 6:30pm for drinks, they didn’t seem at all set up for this. One of the staff commented that ‘they’re not licensed to sell at the bar and are doing us a favour’. Asking us to sit down because of the other (4) guests…there’s a courtyard garden, not even an offer of the use of this. They took a long time to serve the drinks. Why would we arrive an hour before food to just sit at the table? We’d have gone to a bar! There was no attempt to offer us any compensation, i.e. some free drinks, for the obvious upset. To top it off, they added a service charge to the drinks despite the food also having a 12.5% charge! The only extra effort they did make was to put a candle in Dad’s dessert - pretty standard. Despite leaving it a few days since we were there, no-one has been in touch, which says a lot. Whilst the food was reasonable, the service we received was not. We’d spent Dad’s 70th there and had an entirely different experience. Apparently the ownership has changed. Were we surprised to see it half full on a Friday night? Sadly not. We won’t be returning again and the experience didn’t impress a number of potential new customers.

Very tasty food and friendly staff. This place is recommended for a fancy meal out, the menu is smaller than other places, but everything I've had was always top quality. The prices reflect this too, so for a special night out, I'd recommend this place.

What a fantastic hidden gem in Worthing. Five minute walk from the seafront. Very friendly, excellent service, food delicious. Appetiser, of olives and a dish of crispy jalapeño peppers. Which were very tasty. Followed with Brie and my husband had the calamari. Both dishes were fresh and delicious The calamari made from fresh squid, not from a frozen bag. I had the filet steak, blue cheese sauce, tenderstem brocoli and sautéed potato. Perfect, tender steak and vegetables cooked to perfection. My husband had the pork belly, fondant potato and baked cabbage again all perfect. I would highly recommend you visit if you are in Worthing.

Great service and ambiance, had the pork belly and sea bream for mains, both tasty and generous portions. For starters the goats cheese trifle was nice but served in a sort of glass cocktail dish which looked nice but difficult to eat, the calamari was good. Had a bottle of Argentinian rose which was very nice. The cocktails were disappointing, very sweet and not sure how they were made. I couldn’t fault the service, very charming and friendly.

Amazing food! My other half and I do like going out for dinner, not often but generally somewhere good quality. I can say with some margin that Ami set a new bar for us! The flavours in the food were incredible!!! Normally you expect taste but these were rich and indulgent. We will be going again as I need to try more things on their menu!!

Absoulety amazing food and atomosphere, As I'm Gluten free Amy went over and above to produce the same dishes in a gluten free option. The Chateaubriand was just perfect and we will be definitely come back for another meal very soon.

Very good, efficient and friendly service. The meatball starter was delicious. We did however think £10.50 was a bit over priced for 2 meatballs. The main course of pork belly was wonderful, tasty and melt in the mouth. The best pork belly I have eaten out. All the accompaniments were so well matched and complimented each part of the dinner.

Everything amazing x couldn't fault anything

We ate here on fathers day. The staff were fantastic and as I have alot of food intolerances they were amazing at catering for my needs. The food was delicious and we had a fantastic meal.

Sadly not what we expected from reading other reviews . Service was average. Starters were good , but on the mains my Tuna was over cooked . As it was late I didn’t send it back . Probably won’t return.

We visited this restaurant recently with a group of friends & the food was fantastic. We all had different things from the menu & everyone said how good it was , I had the tuna steak which was cooked to perfection & highly recommendable. My friend and I like to go somewhere different around our birthdays. With a week before my friends birthday I suggested Ami as a change. I loved the warm atmosphere and the attentive but not intrusive service. Food was beyond my expectations. After being very disappointed with fine dining restaurants in the past, I was won over by the amazing flavours and care put in to the preparation and presentation. My favorite was the chickpeas in the aubergine dish. I will definitely return

Many recommendations left us to finally book a table. We weren't disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed all of the food served. Service was excellent. Cost is certainly above average and thought was slightly pricey. A nice experience and enjoyed watching their winning 'come dine with me' episode afterwards. Would recommend others to visit

First visit to Ami Bistro and was not disappointed. My brother and his wife have eaten at many restaurants across the country so for them to say the food was exceptional was the highest compliment. I had the lamb rump which was very tasty with a lovely soft fondant potato accompanied by a fabulous jus. They had crispy calamari followed by sea bream and tuna. It was finished off with homemade ice cream. This restaurant is an absolute gem and not to be missed for those who love fine dining.

We recently visited Ami’s and tried their Come Dine with me Winner menu. Wow wow wow! We had amazing meal, the service was great, very welcoming and accommodating staff. Lovely atmosphere too! Well how can I say this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited the service fantastic the food was out of this world

The food was beautifully cooked and presented. The Ami Smokie was a delicate and smooth fish starter. The Lamb rump cooked just right and present nicely follow these with the chocolate torte with honeycomb crunch which was smooth taste and crispy honeycomb. Their “come dine with me” winning meal. Front of house was warm and welcoming. Not overbearing and led by Ryan. Excellent evening and recommended.

We had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant so thought we'd try it. It turns out that they are all true. The food, service and restaurant are 1st class and can't be faulted. I ordered the Come Dine With Me Winning starter and main, which is smoked haddock and mackerel in white wine and parmesan sauce, followed by the lamb rump, and my wife had the brie followed by pork belly. Both meals were superb. I just wish we had a little room for a dessert.

3rd visit to this place and not dissapointed. New menu which can be a worry but not here. Beautiful food,probably the best eatery in worthing if not west sussex. Fab wine and great service to add to what was an amazing evening.

Had a lovely meal here for a friend’s birthday. We were a large group and the staff were very friendly. I had an issue with my meal which I brought to the attention of the staff and the dealt with it amazingly and the food was incredible! I honestly believe if a restaurant can deal with a small issue and make it perfect that shows how well they run! staff lovely, very friendly. Credits to the chef who turned my meal around, it was so tasty!

Litarally the best dessert I’ve had in my entire life! The entire was also amazing but holy crap the dessert was crazy good!

Enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch, very quite with not much atmosphere, also my pigs in blankets turned up with no blankets. Bit weird for a "Top class restaurant", should have taken them off the menu, not dish up 6 chipolata's. Hey ho

This was our second visit,well what can i say...perfectly created dishes,beautifuly cooked and presented. I do aim to try everything on the list. Sadly no food pics as i was too busy enjoying a lovely evening with fab wine. Service is professional and prompt. Overall i would say this is the best eatery in worthing.

Came with 5 friends and every plate was clean at the end - says it all! We ordered bread and balsamic vinegar, prawn crackers and home made tortillas to nibble on along with a round of lush cocktails whilst choosing the rest of our meal - proper cocktails with a kick too, none of this sugary nonsense now in many of Worthing’s cocktail bars. Felt spoilt for choice with the menu but the salmon starter was absolutely delicious and can’t see how it would be topped with a different choice next time I visit! Everyone in our group raved about their mains - pork belly, monkfish and fillet steak (which was cooked PERFECTLY!) We finished our evening with a cheeseboard and some amazing dessert cocktails. Mint matchmakers with an alcoholic twist? Yes please! There was a good selection of wines - can recommend the white Rioja - and service was efficient and friendly. Also loved the playlist in the background. Will definitely be back!

First class food,menu and service

Only down side is the price to be honest but other than that it’s a great place. :)

We had our annual Christmas meal here and I chose the Fillet Steak,Calamari, Blue cheese sauce, green salad and Dauphinoise potatoes, all of which was delicious. Prawn cocktail starter was best I've had in a long time.

Have been to Ami’s before and its always fantastic food and great service. The chefs are amazing and everyone i have taken has always been really impressed. Its a diamond of the Worthing food scene and deserves the recognition

We booked this restaurant to celebrate a special 40th birthday which I told the restaurant on booking. We had a lovely booth and the waiting staff were attentive. However our evening was spoiled by a table of 8 the other side of the room who were excessively loud. They weren’t youngsters but were so caught up with themselves and with their loud communicationthey had no thought to the affect their shouting and excessively loud talking had on other diners: .we couldn’t hear each other talking on our table as a result. The cocktails were sublime but the food was average and no way fine dining. If I wanted to eat spicy food I would have booked a table at a top Indian or Thai restaurant which would have been offered diverse, tasty, and better value dishes. Very disappointed as it was a special birthday but nothing special about our choice of restaurant. Sorry we won’t return.

Absolutely superb from start to finish. Excellent, helpful, knowledgeable and professional staff. I have been fortunate for various reasons to eat in well over 100 different restaurants in UK, France, Italy and Spain this year and this would be in the top 3 of all meals. Four of us we had a tremendous series of high quality starters, mains and desserts - not fussy but all superb and incredibly high quality with interesting accompaniments. Even the coffee was way better than the average restaurant espresso or flat white. Worth booking ahead. Also, just to note, we visited on a very cold day and the restaurant was a pleasant warmth

Wow gutted it's taken us this long to find this little gem. Food lovely flavours and a good price.

After reading all the positive reviews this restaurant had a lot to live up to…………. And it did! A few observations other than the food was excellent. The place feels welcoming with modern decor and furnishings. The art was interesting. The cocktails were very professionally made. However this is a place to take your time, the food does not appear fast but that’s a good thing demonstrating the care with which it is prepared You will have a great meal, relax and enjoy.

Really loved this neighbourhood restaurant and can’t wait to return. The menu has great options for sharing plates - all of which were delicious. The desserts were amazing and worth saving space for. The staff were attentive and friendly and our table was well located being not too close to any others.

Just had an absolutely delicious meal here from unusual cocktails to start to sumptuous starters and mouth watering mains and followed by decadent desserts. If you haven’t been then this is a place for a special meal. Enjoy

Services was very good and Cocktails were beautifully made. Booth area by the front is far too tight, didn't feel too comfortable at all. Food generally looks nice and fresh. Had Fillet steak and asked for medium, and it's a little over cooked, more like medium well. Peppercorn sauce and potatoes were spot on. 1st day of trading after their holiday break, so it's forgivable.

Excellent food, fantastic service and my cocktail based on what the chef drinks was just wonderful. A great restaurant, well worth the prices. Approx a tenner per starter and between 20 - 35 pounds per main and the quality was top class. I cannot say enough good things about Ami Bistro. A firm favourite.

Don't miss out on this excellent restraunt! A true hidden gem in worthing. We ate last night for the tapas deal which was excellent value for money, especially considering the quality of the food and service. Each dish was carefully curated, flavourful, and absolutely delicious. You can tell that a lot of thought and effort went into each dish. There are fantastic options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike (I tried every veggie option from the tapas menu - all of them were amazing but I loved the cauliflower the most!). We absolutely loved our meal at Ami and will be returning in the future. This restraunt deserves the hype of the town! Please do book and support this fantastic business 💜

OMG!! What a fabulous place. From the moment we entered to when we left everything is on point! The food is simply delicious, presented beautifully and a real taste sensation. If you’re looking for a fine dining restaurant this is the place to go. The whole restaurant works as a team to present a wonderful and memorable dining experience. We have just had our second visit to Ami Bistro, and like the first visit the food and service was fantastic. This time we had a table of six family members, we had after meal comments like “that’s the best meal I’ve had in Worthing”, “outstanding food” and we will go there again. Well done to all involved at Ami’s Bistro we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Wine list deserves a creditable mention.

I cannot praise the restaurant and the team enough! We were celebrating my Dad’s 70th birthday, and 3 of us arrived early, 2 of us arrived half an hour late 🙄 the staff were patient, attentive, we got set up with nibbles and drinks while we waited for them!! 🤪 Anyone who served us was charming, our starters arrived (they wanted to make sure we weren’t disappointed and to maybe order ASAP as a larger table had pre-ordered, and warned us there might be a wait for our food if we held off!) we had the Brie, the ham hock (highly recommend!) and the calamari - then for mains we had the sea bream, pork belly, chicken supreme and 2 lamb (ALSO really recommend!!) If I asked for their opinion on which dish out of 2, the staff were right every time! 👌🏼 A perfect spot for a special occasion or a fine dining meal out in a hidden gem of a spot - thank you, you made our evening really memorable and easy - thank you so, so much!

Food is outstanding but now priced out of my range. Such a shame as it has been a regular haunt. Also we had to interrupt the chat between the only 2 people working to place our dessert order having waited a considerable time for them to stop.

We had a very good meal for four and all enjoyed every choice from the menu and some nice wines. The experience was spoiled by the waiter being less than honest when challenged about a Prosecco order. The menu shows a 200ml bottle of Prosecco for £10. The waiter brought a single 125 ml glass of Prosecco. When asked for the 200ml bottle ordered he claimed to have poured out the Prosecco from the 200ml bottle over at the bar. Clearly not possible as 200ml gives you at least 1 and a half glasses making it worth £10. Really disappointing that he was not honest with us and that he still charged us £10 when he knew we had spotted what he had done. Shame.

Be sure not to mistake Ami Bistro’s single page of starters as being the lunchtime alternative to their a-la-carte. For, out of the most forbearing respect for the customer’s prerogative, the management will not so much as hint that sir and madam may have forgotten to order main courses. You, on the other hand, could find yourself leaving both pleased yet vaguely less sated than you would have wished, never to know how the pleasure you’d had from your choice of the chef’s delectable offerings was pretty well guaranteed to continue. This was possibly the case last Friday with a couple at an adjacent table, as the manager surmised when we wondered why our main course orders had not yet been taken. The thing is, it’s as much the chef’s well-deserved pleasure at pleasing you as yours in being so pleased. Parking's a pain, but don't let that put you off . . .

Was very disappointed by the food. The menu looks great but only on paper. I took the pork belly and ended up with 2 tiny pork piece on my plate...there is nothing extraordinary about the food and that's a shame as it is quite expensive. The service is great, nothing to complain on that part but the food is not...

The food here is simply outstanding. You would struggle to find a better restaurant on the South Coast. The service from Ryan is excellent, there is a lovely feel about the place and you can really feel the passion that has gone into creating delicious plates of food. Choosing what to eat was the hardest part, it all sounds and looks so amazing. Simply brilliant, well done Ami Bistro. Certainly Worthings No.1

Me and my husband came here for our 1st wedding anniversary dinner, and it was amazing, dining experience was very private, you sit in booths so you can't really see any other diner which I love, we shared 3 starters had a main each and a dessert have no faults with anything, it was all delicious and service was top notch, we'll definitely go back.

Beautifully presented food, well-balanced, perfectly seasoned but unpretentious. A must dining experience in Worthing. We came for a Spanish themed night with a great local sommelier. The quality, presentation and portion sizes are incredible. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great value for money. Couldn’t fault them, will be coming back again and have been recommending to everyone!

Second time visiting Ami Bistro and this time was for a Tapas and Wine tasting menu. The food here is exceptional, so big hats off to the chef and the vibe is very relaxed, but trendy. Highly recommend if you have not been - great combination of friendly staff, good service and just amazing food without breaking the bank.
