The owner is an incredibly rude and odd man who hasn’t learned how to say “please” or “thank you”. He just holds out the card machine and doesn’t even acknowledge you. I’ve been in several times over the last five years hoping he’d grow up a bit and also learn those two vital words that you need when running a small business. Guess what- He hasn’t! The flour pot and real patisserie both have the same quality bread (and much better coffee), but you get manners and a smile thrown in for free. I won’t be going back.

Pantry is my absolute favourite place to get lunch in Worthing. Everything is delicious and of such great quality and all made in house. The sandwiches are very large and tend to fill me up for the day Best bakery in Worthing without a doubt

Staff are rude not welcoming at all, especially the owner, they don't bake the goods themselves all brought, twice now I've come home with the wrong goods, brought a mutton pie came home with a chicken pie and a plain sourdough and came back with an olive...nightmare.

Tried the curried lamb/mutton pie as a takeaway today and can honestly say it was absolutely delicious. It’s a gem of a bakery with the most amazing tasting produce.

My mother was thrilled that i bought her the sourgh dough bread. It was really lovely. The brownie with my tea was delicious. 😉

Coffee and croissant for late breakfast for me and my French partner. We think as croissant goes, this place has the best ones in the market.

This is undoubtedly the best bakery in town . There is a large variety of choice and the custard chocolate croissant is dangerously delicious .

I go to the Pantry anytime I find myself in Worthing, and it is always the highlight of my day. The food is amazing (today I bought walnut bread, a croissant, a marzipan brioche and a slice of salmon and broccoli quiche, all of which were absolutely delicious) and staff are lovely. Just wish they'd move closer to Brighton so I can go more often!

Probably the best patisserie in town! I have a weakness for their almond croissants and the staff are lovely. The freshly made sandwiches are excellent value for money too, if you're a light eater they can easily be your lunch and dinner.

The bread and cakes are delicious and a great cup of coffee always with a friendly smile..definitely worth a visit.

I ordered sandwiches for a lunchtime company meeting, after a few of our staff had raved about The Pantry. The bread was beautifully fresh, and fillings super tasty, staff were friendly and efficient. Thank you, we'll be back :)

I recently purchased two loaves of sourdough bread from The Pantry and I can honestly say they were both absolutely superb. I have been enjoying them for breakfast ever since. Great quality home baked produce. Cant wait to try some other things!

Went for the first time today. Wow! The counter was stuffed with an amazing selection. I went for the croissant - superb, my wife chose a ham sandwich. Understatement of the year. It was massive, well stuffed and freshly made. This will become a regular haunt. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Best place for lunch, staff always friendly and lovely

Really nice little place but don’t expect any smiles or politeness. Staff are very rude very abrupt, very blunt, but if you can look past that it’s a nice place to eat.

Staff member on their phone when I came in. Took cash off me as then passed me a ciabatta roll with the same dirty hand completely unbothered. This put me off big time and won’t be coming back again. Also all bakery products are super overpriced.

This is some of the best bread, pastries & cheesecake I have ever had. You can sit inside or out and have coffee, a simple but wonderful experience

Absolutely delicious, made from scratch goodies. Quiche, sausage rolls and pies are divine. And the bread is so delicious it must be good for you. All made fresh everyday and made on site. You can't get any better...

Amazing pastries, sandwiches that are made on the freshest of breads, cheesecake that is creamy, velvety and warms you through and through. An amazing positive vibe and the best staff to ensure your visit is everything you want.

The food is well priced for the sandwiches which are huge and delicious. I don’t go as much as I would like due to the appalling manner one particular male thinks is acceptable to speak to customers. I once called whilst walking to the pantry to order a sandwich to pick up so I didn’t have to wait and age and take up room, he was so rude and very much did not want to take the order but begrudgingly did, I then asked what the veggie options were to which his reply was ‘THIS IS WHY WE DONT TAKE ORDERS OVER THE PHONE. Come in and order! And hung up!’ I would visit much more often if I knew I did not have to deal with him and friends and family of mine feel the same.

I won an online competition but to no avail did I receive item. After writing a review I got a message stating they couldn't take a pot of strawberry jam out of the freshly made afternoon tea which I'm allergic too because of Natasha's law.my last correspondence was February 26th the negative message I received was 6th March. Communication has been appalling & negative. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Lovely food,shame the owner is unfriendly, I think it's an Alpha Male thing as I have spoken to other male friends and they say the same thing,I think he needs to deal with his insecurities and treat all customers in a respectable manner and be grateful for the custom in these hard times.

My mum and I stopped off on the way back from running some errands randomly and wow… what a find! The quiche was the best I’ve ever had in my life and so was their cheesecake! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to top them! Coffee was nice enough too but the food was the star of the show.

I found the Pantry during lockdown and it’s become somewhere to go every week or two for fresh bread, delicious cakes and pasties, and yummy quiche slices. Have I mentioned the cheesecake?? Try the cheesecake. Other reviewers have mentioned the attitude of the staff but I’ve always found them friendly and efficient. I’m a very happy customer!

Great coffee and sandwiches but service could be better- just find the attitude sometimes a bit much.

Brilliant place - absolutely fantastic coffee. Sandwiches are delicious, very reasonably priced and twice the size that you expect. The staff are lovely and it's just a great atmosphere, great music. A hidden gem.

Popped in today for a hot chocolate a sausage roll and a smoked salmon roll oh my god the size of the roll,it was amazing so tasty,I just had to take some home with me.lovely place really nice people will definitely be back.

Can’t knock the food, but the attitude of the tall guy behind the counter is unbelievable! I recently visited and ordered a sandwich to take away. I was the only customer and having ordered went outside to wait. After ten minutes, during which two staff stood doing nothing behind the counter and the baker/manager continued with his baking. I looked through the window to see if there was any sign of my sandwich.....He came to the counter and said ‘ Why are you looking at me as though it is taking a long time?’ ‘ Do you want your sandwich cold?’ Taken aback, I replied ‘ Probably because it IS taking a long time’ . His response was to give me my money back and to remind me that I wasn’t in McDonald’s! 😂. I don’t know whether he was having a bad day or is naturally aggressive.....I do know that I will never use his shop again!

To the Baker, popped in this morning after recommendation from my daughter and the baker was right the croissant’s are as light as Air good taste~good consistency the only disappointment was I just bought one..... mr K.

Initially was excited to try this place but then.... Pies are half filled, with just a desert spoon amount of shredded meat mixed with shredded carrot. Wondered why they were so lightweight!! A complete rip off for over £3 for a small pie consisting mostly of pastry. Stop trying to cheat customers!!

Great bread and pastries with a good selection of made to order baguette or ciabatta sandwiches. Good service. Local baker. Worth supporting!

I'm really sorry to mark this place with only 2 stars! I love the food, although coffee is pricey! I went in yesterday morning and had a brown sugar brioche which was lovely. Unfortunately no gloves were used, I was particularly concerned about the lady serving my coffee who had bare hands! Sorry but I won't be going again for a while! What a shame...

This food is so good I find myself mouth watering just at the thought of it. Probably does the best sausage rolls I have ever tasted. 10/10

I really love this place. Amazing coffee and really nice pastries!

My partner and I come to the Pantry at least once a month for a treat. Some of the things we have tried include the sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, almond/chocolate croissants and the cheesecake. The sandwiches are huge and at £4 good value. It always takes me at least two sittings to eat one. I either have the goats cheese and roasted veg, or the mozzarella and pesto. Both are outstanding. My partner prefers the smoked ham. I am told the sausage rolls are delicious. The quiche is light and fluffy and they always have a meat and veggie option. The cheesecake however is worth a try. The biscuity hazelnut base is absolutely delicious and the creaminess is the cheesecake is so moreish. The bread speaks for itself - the ciabatta is unlike any I’ve tasted before and the walnut bread has such a lovely texture to it.The staff are friendly and knowledgable about the produce. Sometimes there can be a little wait for coffee and sandwiches but that’s because the staff take care in making sure you are given the best quality possible. I would thoroughly recommend a visit, particularly for anyone who is going on a long train journey and needs some cake!

The sandwiches here really are in actual fact the best in the world. The bread is fantastic artisan quality, the fillings are imaginative and generous, and they are amazing value for money at 4 quid for a takeout. One sandwich is so chewy and substantial (in a good way) that it will last my whole train journey home from Worthing to Brighton.

An amazing place! We visited this shop in the summer and we enjoyed everything. Also the coffee was excellent.

I go to this bakery regularly and the quality is consistently excellent.Clearly a lot of care and attention goes into the food and the coffee is also first rate.The ciabattas are especially good and today I tried the blueberry cheesecake which pretty much blew my mind.Sitting as it does next to the Brooksteed Alehouse, this is a great little spot - best bakery in Worthing next to the best pub.

The food is very good especially the bread.I've been there for a take out and eaten there with friends on many occasions, the problem is the staff, especially the girl that serves and makes the hot drinks I don't think she has got it right once!!It's so frustrating and she has the I don't want to be here attitud.Shame but I'm not going back.

This small and unassuming bakery delivers the finest bread and pastries I have enjoyed in this country to date. The is care, respect and understanding in the production. I sincerely recommend. I even know someone that travels specifically for the spelt. Simply wonderful.

We had breakfast here last week end and it never fails , great value for money and great portions .The staff are always polite and service with a smile .

The bread here is absolutely amazing, as well as the incredible pastries! The chocolate creme patissiere croissant is to die for!!

It was our first visit to this wonderful establishment and it was an excellent choice. We had coffee and pastries which was absolutely delicious and made further purchases as well and the service was friendly and excellent. Totally recommended to all.

Absolutely love this bakery/coffee shop. Fantastic pastries and bread made on the premises. Well worth a little detour to pick up breakfast. It’s a shame it is not in the middle of town. You want some top quality food make the effort and give this bakery a visit.

Great variation of handmade onsite products; ciabattas, loaves, cakes and pies. Excellent sandwiches with amazing varied fillings regularly updated. Stop in or take away, barista will sort you a drink to accompany anything you snack on.

Best bakery/cafe in Worthing! Such a cosy and friendly atmosphere and so many delicious freshy made breads, sandwiches and cakes to choose from! The sourdough bread is excellent and so is the cheesecake!

My infrequent visits to Worthing have not left me with the best impression of what a seaside town its size could (should?), be able to offer.

Went for the first time in December and found the coffee and cheesecake absolutely delightful. I cannot comment on other items displayed at the counter but they look just as good as the pictures shown on the website. Unfortunately there is little room to sit inside but we were lucky. It was dry and sunny so sat outside. Cannot wait to go again

Great local find just 5 mins away and you can get amazing freshly baked pastries, rolls and bread - you’ll get hooked after one visit! Plus, they serve my favourite small batch coffee :-)

Great selection of sandwiches and the bread is amazing. If only they were warmed up in a sandwich press then it would be the most heavenly place.

This place is simply the best in town , the bread is amazing , the lunch sandwiches are so tasty Great fillings like pulled pork , roasted peppers and goats cheese , awesome coronation chicken and the BLT is proper tasty streaky smoky bacon, can't fault anything about the food here, also awesome looking pastries pies sausage rolls , cheesecakes , sweet pastries etc but oh those sandwiches are so so good!

I heard good things about this hidden gem on Facebook, to be honest I didn't know where it was until I walked pasted it on my son's first day at Worthing High, today though (Thursday 6th of September) I had a opportunity to sit and have a cuppa whilst I waited for my son to come out of school, so I decided I would meet him here.

Popped In this morning..what a treat with friendly staff and a large selection of pastries and coissants to go with an excellent cup of coffee...

Just moved to the area and discovered this gem. Great bread baked on the premises and excellent filled ciabatta rolls and baguettes to order. Can eat outside if the weather's fine, otherwise good for takeaway.

Just pure bakery heaven! Delicious pastries, freshly brewed coffee, amazing breads and savoury snacks. All served with a smile and friendly welcome. By far the best brioche and croissants in Worthing if not in the whole of Sussex!

Love this place. Gorgeous baked goods. The cheesecake is delicious and as the bread! Who said carbs are bad for you? Awesome music too. Definitely the best artisan baker in Worthing.

Always get some great artisan bread, cakes here. Recommend a visit particularly when combining with a visit to the Brooksteed next door

The best and only the best ....thanks pantry

I have never been happier about bread! Nowhere else makes bread like this guy, and he doesn't just make bread. Croissants, pain au chocolate, the most amazing sausage rolls, fabulous quiche the list goes on. We can't wait for Saturday to come around and treat ourselves to the most tasty loaf of bread. If you've not tried it yet, get down there..... it before me though!

good food let own by Sh#t service. Avoid like the plague unless your a hungry masochist desperate for rude punishing service.

What this guy does with flour is outrageous. Ok so we are not talking about a pretty little tree lined avenue in Montmartre but step in side and you would think it difficult for the French to beat the quality you will find.

We just dropped in for a coffee and a snack. Coffee was good and the sausage roll was the best we had tasted for some time. Not the cheapest place but good quality.

Messy, but very delicious almond and chocolate croissant, yum!

The pies pastries and breads are the absolute best at the Pantry. They may seem a little more expensive but it is just like home-cooking and you couldn't make it yourself any cheaper, in fact I couldn't make food like this as there is a pastry expert at hand here to whom baking is a passion without a doubt!

If you like sourdough bread you'll be hard-pressed to find better anywhere. Eat your heart out Greggs for every ounce of lard oozing rusk filled sausage rolls you sell, you ought to be ashamed, this place knows how to make proper sausage rolls that actually contain meat and are far less likely to induce heart disease, seriously this place rocks, their cakes and patisserie are the best in Worthing and rank among the best on the south coast, or the south generally for that matter, they also serve great coffee, my absolute go to place for breakfast whenever I can get there.

Cannot recommend this place enough...I struggle to make a decision every time but always stick to my fave! (I'm never disappointed!)

Visited yesterday and as ever everything was first class. Delicious sandwich made in a rye and walnut bread. This was followed by a sour cherry and nut brownie which was exceptional so much so I bought 2 to take home. This guy knows his stuff using quality ingredients.

Went out of my way to visit this bakery as I have been on a mission to find a good pasty and sausage roll in worthing. This seemed the best, but when i got there, i found the choice very limited, and they do not even make traditional pasties. Feeling let down, I still got a sausage roll which turned out to be pretty small and cost over £2.50. The ratio of meat to pastry was far too much, and mine had raw onions inside - not to my taste at all.

The best coffee, sandwiches are delicious, breads, pastries etc. All is amazing, the man's an artist!

Every visit here is a delight. Freshly baked, delicious bread, cakes and pastries. The sandwiches are also recommended. A gem of a place.

Only just discovered this place and will use it all the time now. Not eaten in there but bought various bakery items and was definitely not disappointed. Have tried five different items and all have been first class.

Never hesitate, this place is ALWAYS great - great bread, fresh sandwiches (try the salmon and cream cheese!) and excellent quality pastries. Love the marzipan and brown sugar buns. Beautiful.

Being a baker myself I always seek out the bakeries in the town I'm visiting.

To make a sandwich utterly breath-taking is simple when you think about it – freshly baked bread with imaginative and high quality fillings. Why do so many places do it so badly? The Pantry in Worthing does it brilliantly. The best fresh sandwich I’ve had outside of France/Belgium. Utterly exquisite and the coffee is proper serious barista stuff too. I’m jealous of the residents of North Worthing to have this on their doorstep. We got some take out quiche slices as well and they were just beyond belief too. Shame we were too early for the apparently legendary sausage rolls (we were like really early!).

Popped in to meet a business associate as needed somewhere near the station. It's absolutely lovely. Fantastic food - amazing sausage rolls! The cheesecake looked to die for but as I'm on a diet decided that may have to wait for another day, so just shared a sausage roll with my wife! Friendly staff, wonderful coffee and reasonably priced bearing in mind the great quality of food. This little parade of shops is really up and coming.

Fortunate enough to live very close to this bakery. Always use it for 'elevenses' and opt for the delicious brioche or homemade slices of cake. The best cakes and pastries in Worthing by far and service with a smile!

We have been using the Pantry since it opened, mainly for its delicious bread and pastries. A recent Saturday however we also stopped for coffee and sandwiches..my son had told me how good the BLT he had was and so that was my order. It was delicious and highly recommended. We also had the sausage rolls which again I recommend. The chap who is responsible for the baking etc is very talented and it's nice that Worthing has this place that rivals anything similar I have experienced in nearby Brighton. Highly recommended!

Try the cheesecake if nothing else. I could eat and drink everything they sell here! Delicious!!! Visit regularly and have yet to be even mildly disappointed!!! Fabulous!

If the owner was in London he'd have customers queueing out the door. As it is it's Worthing's best kept secret. Warning! You won't want bread from anywhere else after tasting the artisan bread, cakes or savouries from here. Love the place.

The food is genuinely home baked and locally sourced, the service is authentic and friendly and it is Worthing's best kept secret, 5 mins from Worthing station. This is very much a community café although I know people who go to it from ten miles away.

I'm loathe to write this review as i don't want anyone else knowing how good this place is! I stopped by with my Dad at the weekend and was served quickly by the owner. The variety of pastries on offer is extensive and the quality is unparalleled. All i can say is the guy who runs this place has ruined croissants/pan au chocolat's for me. Nothing else will do!

It is a bakery, selling artisan bread (and even flour/advice for bread making enthusiasts!). Excellent food though, and a café feel - not much room, but really worth going. Went for lunch, and you get the feeling that there is a real passion for what they do. The ingredients have been thought about, and makes everything delicious... save some room for cake though - it's so good! Hope they will get a bigger premises, and maybe a more central location - having said that, I will definitely go there no matter what. Would be great to offer bread making class...?

Walking through the door tells you to expect something special! Choosing what to try is hard, but you really can't make a wrong decision - it's all DELICIOUS. Try a walnut loaf for something a little different - divine! I think you will find yourself coming back for more!

I was out with my mum's who suggested we pop in here as they had been in a few times and loved it. Well I can see why they have been back, they have a table full of tasty cakes and pastries as well as freshly baked breads and rolls.

Walked in to be greeted by friendly chatty staff. Bought some lovely bread. Wish we bought more. Wish it was open on a Sunday. Will return again.
