Selby Garden Certre in Selby

We booked the function room/conservatory for a family get-together for 23 family members .Really impressed with the quality of food from the Sunday lunch menu. A big thanks to Tracey and her team for making the lunch go without any problems whatsoever everyone loved the cake choice afterwards really good portions . We are sure to be back again next year as the venue was central for our travelling families .

I went again after a year and half because I am gluten free and got glutened. So tried again this morning and was glutened again. I have gluten ataxia so no gluten in my diet. Unfortunately this place isn’t suitable for people with gluten problems. I’ve rang them and they said they are very careful but clearly not they have gluten free cake open next to normal cake in the display case. I definitely won’t be going back here

Not up to usual standard of food today, decided to try hunters melt sandwich when it arrived the bacon looked as though it had seen a grill was raw,asked for it to be cooked a bit more but when came back far to much BBQ sauce and cheese wasn't melted properly, all the meals that I have had previously have been great and took a doggie bag home as it was to much in one sitting for me unfortunately only had a couple of bites today and left it, They have changed the menu which isn't for the better as people in front of me asked for things that weren't on new menu and looked disappointed when they were told to choose something else, The previous menu was so much better,

Here at lunch time and decided to eat. This is a (good standard) light and airy cafeteria style restaurant. There is a very good choice on the menu supported by a small "specials" board and wide range of savoury and cake/pastry products. Orders are placed and paid for at the counter - after finding a table if eating in. Allergy requirements can be accommodated and great care was taken by the staff to ensure they were understood when ordering. There was a waiting queue to order, probably due to the peak time. Food that needed preparation was delivered to the table. When served the food quality and portion size was great and represented very good value. Service was excellent. Overall a very satisfied experience

Arrived at noon and although busy there were quite a few tables empty. We noted our table number and I went to the counter to order. This took a few minutes as the people taking orders also prepared the coffee / drinks. Anyone who has been in Costa or Starbucks will know that this does take a while but, on the whole, our drinks didn’t take long. I had chosen soup of the day from the table menu but getting to the counter I changed to Applewood & Mustard scone - which was simply enormous, and was really very nice indeed. My wife chose a more expensive prawn & crayfish sandwich. Expensive? Yes, but the size of it, with a hearty filling and an excellent side of salad was very good value. We chose a bowl of chips to share and were disappointed that there were a large number of small, or very flat chips, which were rock hard - perhaps been made a while and left in a heater. Even so, I won’t knock down the bubbles score as there were plenty of very nice, fatter, chips for us to nibble on. As we left, the place was bursting with people and the queue to get served had grown quite long. A word of advice! Don’t choose from the menu until you’ve walked past the serving counter to see the many tasty items on show that simply aren’t on the menu. And that applewood & mustard scone? Think of something the size of a large saucer about 3” deep. Fab.

We went for the special menu (Pie Week) nice to find a Vegan option, Vegetable Crumble it was very tasty. Here’s hoping for more Vegan options Come on Chef you know you want too.

Decent food. Seems more expensive than a few years ago even taking inflation into account but generally good for the money. Friendly staff and good cakes.

Whatever time you go, the service is quick and reliable. Not a massive menu but good quality food with something for everyone.

Great restaurant with a good variety of food available. Staff are friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable. Spotlessly clean and plenty of seating. Never had a bad meal here.

Superb value and food quality. The 'Small' gammon, egg and chips was too much and we needed a doggy bag. Proper gammon rather than thin sliced ham. Lovely service and a pot of tea to round off. Far superior to other so called 'restaurants' I've experienced in the past 6 months. This place is on my Go Back to Again list

My wife and I visit quite regularly and always enjoy the food, atmosphere and service. However, today was extra special as the restaurant was a bit short-staffed but the staff that WERE in were absolutely amazing; hard-working, efficient and cheerful. It was a real pleasure to be there.

Food lovely, but you SERIOUSLY need more counter staff at lunchtime! The queue was back into the garden centre and only one staff member taking food orders and one making the drinks. Such a shame that having to queue for 30 minutes plus ruins the experience

Got to admit I was pretty disappointed in my visit. We arrived it was pretty busy we had to clean our own table as we couldn’t see any staff around clearing. I waiting for 15 minutes before I was served. The server was rushing and I feel like I didn’t get the best customer service. The prices were very expensive I got a sandwich chips and a Coke and it was £15 which is a lot for a sandwich. It hardly had any filling in definitely not value for money. My mum got a bowl of soup which came with the smallest bread roll there could be. The chips were so dry it looked like they had been fried about 4 times I couldn’t eat them Overall wouldn’t recommend unfortunately but the cakes did look nice!

Lovely food. Very expensive but big meals. Lovely staff. Very long wait to order at the tills, queued for at least 10-15 minutes and it wasn’t a very long queue.

Brilliant as always! 2 full english breakfasts, coffee and tea. All good was served in a timely manner, great quality with lovely drinks. Also, very good value for money, especially during the cost of living crisis we are all currently in! Thank you for such great service yet again.

Visited for breakfast and it was such a disappointment. We ordered at 11am I went for the poached eggs on toast which when they arrived looked lovely. I have never had tough poached eggs before once I managed to cut through the white the yolk was runny but barely warm once I got to the third egg it was cold and so was the bread. I can only presume that the eggs were cooked very early on in the day and then immersed in ice water and when needed warmed up. Obviously not heated up enough !!! My husband’s full breakfast was also lukewarm he did say the baked beans were warmer than the rest of the food I presume they had been in the microwave. The restaurant/cafe wasn’t very busy so no excuse for serving warmed up food especially eggs. So a very underwhelming experience.

Beautiful restaurant, with very friendly staff and excellent food and coffee from the hot food on the menu to the cakes and scones on the counter. Definitely worth a visit!

I visit here quiet often, but unfortunately on this occasion I can honestly say the food was terrible. I ordered beans on toast, the beans came in the smallest pot I have ever seen and the toast was rock hard, not worth what it cost. Coffee was good but again you have to ask for it extra hot otherwise it comes barely warm very disappointing.

This olace is really expensive for what you get. 2 cups of tea £4.30, sausage roll £2.85. A peice if cake 1& half inch square £3.00. That wasnt the worst. No one in that kitchen was wearing a hair net or a hat. The 2 people i saw bith had long hair, loosely tied up, preparing food & cooking food. This is the 2nd time i have been here ( was 18mth ago i first came) and i gave a bad review last time. I wont be going again

As it was getting late & just left Selby Hospital,decided to give the restaurant a try.We have been before but not since they expanded it. Very nicely done out,easy to order,disabled toilet handy. My husband went for the Haddock,Chips & Mushy Peas,I was past food by this time but did try a small portion of Ham,fried Egg & Chips,the ham was beautiful,tasty & lots of it,husbands portion on the small side for the money(£14),my small portion was £8.,we had a pot of tea for 2,this was£4.30,total bill£26.30. Food was passable but will not be in a rush to return,thought it a tad overpriced.

Lovely cafe in a large garden centre. We have visited before several years ago but since last time a small cafe has become a large restaurant! We had delicious jacket potatoes…can really recommend the cheddar cheese and caramelised onion!

We called in for lunch and spotted the national burger day specials they looked amazing, so we had to give them a go! The choice was great and the biggest challenge was deciding which one to go for! We went for The Greek and clucking lovely - a juicy lamb and mint burger and a succulent chicken burger, the toppings were paired brilliantly with the chorizo jam on the clucking lovely being particularly good. We really enjoyed both the burgers and the service and can’t wait to come back again.

National burger day so went and had a burger each. Had “The Greek”…..omg this lamb burger was to die for! And partner had “Clucking Lovely” and said it was the tastiest chicken burger he’d ever had. Tbh, there were 5 burgers to choose from and it was a very hard choice!!!! Always good quality fresh food served here, fabulous modern restaurant with hard working happy staff. Always a pleasure to visit, then obviously a potter around the delightful garden centre.

Lunch with a little extra! Went for lunch expecting normal great food and was pleasantly surprised to see it was burger specials! Had the chicken burger which was fantastic and added bonus burgers for the little ones! Never disappointed a lot of work for the chefs yet food came in great time and delicious to boot! Kids came out slightly earlier than adults which was a lovely touch!

My first time here and I can't wait to return. I was greeted by smiling , helpful and staff. I chose the Scampi and chips which arrived piping hot and well presented. Not only was it delicious,but the quantity was excellent. It was a real pleasure to enjoy such a clean, comfortable setting and to be treated to such pleasant attentive staff.

The scones are the best in Yorkshire !! My particular favourite is the caramelised onion ones but all are sooooo good 😊 The staff are always friendly and on the ball with cleaning the tables.

Disappointing… the Sunday Beef dinner was served with inedible potatoes. They looked frozen, none of our table could eat theirs and everyone left them. The beef was good but the rest felt like it was just frozen bagged veg. One on of our party had the Piri-piri chicken - the chicken was out of a packet and wasn’t fresh… the chips as a side were tasteless and obviously frost bitten.
