Sekforde Arms in Islington

What a lovely lovely day. We were here for my son's wedding. Well done to the staff, what an incredible day it was, so many people approached me and said that it was the best, ceremony and venue that they have been to. Your staff worked incredibly hard. They food was outstanding, as we're the many many different drinks. You all helped to make a special day memorable. For that we are extremely thankful to you. all. Well done again

We went to the Sekforde Arms on Saturday for a friends wedding. What a wonderful day it was! The team worked endlessly to look after everyone and make sure everyone had what they needed. The food was incredible. Awesome canapes, gorgeous starters and main courses, then roving puddings and fish and chips cones later in the evening! There were 61 of us in total and how they pulled off the quality of food for that many people I don't know. The icing on the cake for us was we had booked an Airb&B 'nearby' and it was only when the booking was confirmed and we got the full address we realised the flat was in a building directly attached to the Sekforde Arms and is part of the same business. We didn't even need to go outside as there was a very short link corridor into the pub and function room. It was fabulous! We never got chance to thank the team for looking after us on Saturday so would just like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you for making a very special day even more so. If we ever come to London we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Sekforde Airb&B and to have a meal in the pub,

I reviewed this place a few months ago but felt I should again as it was a even better experience. The last time was good, but today's roast was better. The potatoes were crispy and fresh this time. I always enjoy the veg they serve with the roast and the lamb shank was really tender. It could have done with maybe a bit more flavouring, like rosemary and garlic through the actual meat. Apart from that it was great. Others had the chicken and pork which were thoroughly enjoyed. I do wish they could bring back the pork loin though, as I really don't enjoy belly. My friend loved it however so that's just my taste. It was busy and we had to wait about 5 mins for our table, but luckily there was a seat for my disabled Mum who can't stand for long. Only thing I can think of I was a bit displeased with was the fact they refused to switch on the heating. I think if you are spending around £70-80 it wouldn't have killed them to put it on, even just for the duration of our stay. I guess I do get cold easily due to a health issue so everyone else was probably fine temperature-wise. It is worth noting that they sadly do not have a disabled bathroom. I think they can't due to the age of the building, so not really their fault. Definitely would recommend for Sunday lunch, and a pint during the week.

We hosted a music quiz in the basement at the Sekforde. The space is great. Quirky and cosy. The food was delicious (great chips!) and the staff were fantastic. They really went above and beyond to help us set up and to make sure everything went smoothly. Thank you very much!

To the Sekforde for Sunday roast with the landlord ( who is, I confess, an old friend), a really lovely afternoon. The Sekforde is the loveliest pub, really nice staff, beautifully restored Georgian interior, fresh flowers in the windows, a really pleasant atmosphere, no loud music or flashing lights, just delicious food and wine, and lots of people happily chatting over excellent Sunday roasts ( 3rd best in London according to the Evening Standard). Fabulous puddings too - bread and butter pudding, rhubarb crumble, irresistible. If you feel like an excellent Sunday lunch with friends or family or both ( babies welcome, and well behaved dogs) in lovely surroundings, this is the place for you. Highly recommended :-)

We both had an excellent Sunday roast. The meats were nice (the chicken was our favourite), the roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the vegetables were good quality and cooked to perfection. The staff were all really friendly and attentive. Great reasonably priced roast.

Thanks a lot for the excellent food and service. We had a great time last night and will no doubt be back.

I booked the beautiful upstairs room of this pub for an office Christmas dinner. Despite a colossal booking error on the pub's part, the owner and staff made it right on the rescheduled night. The food was top-notch, and served in ample quantity. The service was well-paced and friendly. The overall vibe was welcoming and warm. We will be back!

First time in this pub won't be the last, very clean lovely decor, delicious roast and reasonable, staff really friendl, looking forward to going again.

Popped into the Sekforde for Sunday lunch with friends. Beautiful pub refurbished in a traditional style, tucked away on a side street in the heart of Islington- a real hidden gem! The staff were courteous and attentive and told us all about their extensive wine and a beer list. The pub boasts an impressive selection of beers, really supporting local breweries. Would recommend the Islington steam lager- a great pint to unwind over with friends on a Sunday evening. Out of my four friends, one was vegetarian and one was vegan, so it’s normally a mission to cater for all of us. But thankfully the Sekforde has us covered. There was a vegan roast and two vegan desserts- all delicious. The raw coconut brownie was an absolute winner. I could not recommend the Sekforde enough, and I’m looking forward to returning one evening after work.

To this lovely refurbished bar in Seckford Street to meet friends. Very pretty old fashioned bar with lots of wood and natural light. Perfect place for an early evening drink in late sunshine in the summer, and a cosy open fire in the winter. Lovely:-) And upstairs they have a beautiful room that can be hired for events, the ceiling painted like the sky, lots of sash windows and light flooding in. A lovely venue for a talk or a drinks party. There’s a restaurant too, tucked away downstairs, though I didn’t eat there this time. They do good barfood upstairs ( according to my husband!) but it’s worth ringing to ask about the restaurant too, as it’s a lovely space in a perfect location.

This is a lovely pub which reopened recently after extensive refurbishment and under new management. It is a very cool building. At present, on Mondays and Tuesdays the food is half price. It's haute cuisine and normally good value which makes half price very good value indeed. Areas for improvement: could be a bit cosier in the bar area on the ground floor, and they need a website!

As I say nice back street pub, good for a quick couple of pints, food acceptable, hearing rumours that it may be closing down, which is a shame as these traditional old back street pubs are what makes London great, rather than the trendy ones.

You know it is.Great service, great beer and on the best Street in the village. When you go around and look at the other pubs you know you are in a special area for great food and drinks.The Sekforde has the best kept ales tho.

With friendly,chatty staff and locals. Ideal location for quick bus or (Farrindon)tube hop into West End. From their reasonably priced guest rooms.

I do not know why you always feel in a such friendly and nice company in this pub, even if you stick with your friends. It certainly has to do with the extreme friendliness of the staff.

Excellent selection of beers and really nice food at a reasonable price. Definitely my favourite pub in the area

Great pub, very traditional looking. Nice outdoor seating, has sun throughout the day. Good menu and value. The staff were very friendly although they did add up the bill incorrectly! I would certainly recommend.

Serves good beer and apperas to have locals rather than tourists and drunken city "whizz-kids". A good place for a couple of beers.

Tropezamos con los brazos de Sekforde un jueves noche fresca mientras beber con amigos. El servicio es muy amable y la comida era excepcional por el precio. algo de comida adecuada del pub que consta de queso y bacon hamburguesas, chips, y salchichas y puré. Aunque llegamos allí con tal vez solo un minuto libre antes de la cocina cerraba el personal no podía haber sido más amable y servicial. Muy buen ambiente y encanto muy transitada pero no abarrotada de gente. Volveré cuando esté en la zona de Londres, gracias.
