Wonderful spot. The quality of the food is great, the atmosphere is wonderfully understated and French and the also it’s not crazy expensive. I’ve been a few times, I always get the entrecote for main (fantastic portion, prepared expertly and good quality). I’ve tried various starters and desserts and they have all been delicious. Underrated little gem - highly recommend for a lowkey special occasion or for a date.

I don’t often dine in that part of town, but when I knew I’d be near Angel for a concert, Le Petite Auberge was the first place that came to mind. I hadn’t been there in over 10 years, so I was thrilled to discover it was still there. The atmosphere, ambiance, staff, and food were just as I remembered them—like reconnecting with an old friend: comfortable, easy, and a delight to return to. The food was wonderful. I started with the Salade de Chèvre Chaud and followed with the Entrecôte Grillée—just as delicious as I remembered. I cannot recommend this charming restaurant highly enough. It’s a gem, and I won’t let so much time pass before my next visit.

Standard French style food. Super busy and very, very noisy. Our starters came quickly and were good, but then had to wait over an hour for our mains. We had ordered the Xmas dinner. The turkey was ok, the broccoli & carrots were good. The toast parsnip was hard and tasted like it had been boiled then briefly fried in oil. Awful. The roast potatoes were lukewarm, hard inside and inedible. Overall not good.

Very wide choice of menu. Might have been better to limit it at lunchtime. Restaurant empty when we arrived at 12.30 but full by 1.30. Book early for a table. Food a bit variable - some very good, rabbit stew tasty but a bit tough. Coq au Vin first rate . Chocolate musse for dessert not dark enough! Billed as dark chocolate but didn't taste more than 50% cocoa. House red very good value. Service genial and efficient.

Great food and fantastic service. This is on oldie in Upper Street, but the quality of the food is somehow in decline. We had a lovely Bourguignon de Légumes, but also a salad where all the greens were heated. There might be different views on salads, but microwaved lettuce is not part of French cuisine. The Tarte Tatin was an insult: some microwaved pieces of apple instead. A French chef would call the police. Service was great though and if you focus on the wine you’ll have a nice time out

We booked here for a meal before an event at Union Chapel. The meal was delicious - I had the tuna special, and Steve enjoyed an entrecôte. I had mentioned where I’d like to be seated, and that we had a birthday to celebrate too: we had a wonderful table near the window, and were delighted with a birthday song and lovely mousse au chocolat. The meal was reasonably priced and nicely served. We would definitely eat here again. Lovely atmosphere and clearly many diners were regulars, which is always a good sign. Merci!

The beauf bourguignon was not amazing, too big pieces of meat that were not tender. We asked the waiter to tell us what the dish was like and he very reluctantly said it was a stew. This is not a French restaurant, it is An adaptation of French recipes for people unfamiliar with French cuisine. The taste was not bad but was definitely not a beauf bourguignon, was a stew. 3 stars because of a kind and lovely young waitress who served us.

Very good french restaurant in central London. The lunch and evening set menus give an excellent choice if you don't know what to go for. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Very good place to bring some friends who want to discover French cuisine that is different than one carrot in a plate for 100 £. Only down side is that the wines are expensive - only the Bordeaux is good (subjective opinion).

1) No-one at the door to greet. Standing in the entrance waiting over a minute for someone to notice you, isn’t a comfortable feeling, anywhere. 2) No acknowledgement that a reservation had been made. Tucked onto a small corner table between the bar and the door. 3) Asked for 2 of the cocktail of the day (Limoncello Spritzers). Waiter checked twice what we’d ordered (and it was written on the board at the bar), but brought to shots of Limoncello. At £10.50p each, they were not a good choice. 4) After reading the menu for 5-6 mins we gave our order, only to be told that Mussels (their speciality) was no longer available. We had booked because it is a favourite of mine, and it was my birthday. Should really have just left, but… 5) Ordered a champagne pate and sea bream which were listed as specials of the day. The ‘champagne pate’ was in fact a tough duck and peppercorn terrine served with a couple of pieces of toasted bread. The bream was cooked well and served on a bed of warm crunchy vegetables, but for some reason rocket leaves were then added which was unnecessary. Mashed potato was a stodgy gloop. 6) We didn’t stay for dessert. It was just a disappointing experience, when with a bit more thought, attention to detail (vital in hospitality) and honesty about the food would have been appreciated.

Special starter Beetroot Tartar (aubergine caviar, goat curd, maple vinaigratte aioli & crostini) was just your common beets with goat cheese. The accents weren't noticable. Another special starter of crab stuffed avocado needed a powerful aioli to bind the filling and enhance the flavor. Special main of monkfish was tasteless. Menu stalwarts of coq au Vin and rabbit in mustard sauce were strong in conception and well executed. Wine list needs vintages (and, in some cases, producers. You can't just say "Fine Tawny Port". It has to be [Producer] [Age statement] Tawny Port. E.g. Dow 10-year Tawny Port). Waitress appeared to be untrained in the art of service. Left the water she brought for us to pour. I bought a coffee here yesterday and was surprised to see just how dirty it is. Outside tables were littered with empty Costa cups and food wrappers, ashtrays were full. Inside tables, many remained uncleared and the bathroom was disgusting, loads of used tissues all over the floor. Costa management you need to visit this place it's way below the right standard.
