Service is very slow! My tea had no tea spoon. Sauces had no tea spoon. Mussels was undercooked, a lot of mussels shells wasn’t opened. Whitebait was overcooked. Standards definitely not up to scratch.

Great choices on menu for traditional "French" cuisine including plenty of fish and vegetarian options. Good value for money considering this is Islington. Friendly staff and very accessible location on Upper Street

The food was not the best, therefore 4 stars. But quite a good ambience and it’s not too expensive for a French lunch, reasonable prices. Onion soup and the other soup of the day (beetroot & turnip) was amazing. Snails/escargots were good too.

This is on oldie in Upper Street, but the quality of the food is somehow in decline. We had a lovely Bourguignon de Légumes, but also a salad where all the greens were heated. There might be different views on salads, but microwaved lettuce is not part of French cuisine. The Tarte Tatin was an insult: some microwaved pieces of apple instead. A French chef would call the police. Service was great though and if you focus on the wine you’ll have a nice time out

The beauf bourguignon was not amazing, too big pieces of meat that were not tender. We asked the waiter to tell us what the dish was like and he very reluctantly said it was a stew. This is not a French restaurant, it is An adaptation of French recipes for people unfamiliar with French cuisine. The taste was not bad but was definitely not a beauf bourguignon, was a stew. 3 stars because of a kind and lovely young waitress who served us.

We booked here for a meal before an event at Union Chapel. The meal was delicious - I had the tuna special, and Steve enjoyed an entrecôte. I had mentioned where I’d like to be seated, and that we had a birthday to celebrate too: we had a wonderful table near the window, and were delighted with a birthday song and lovely mousse au chocolat. The meal was reasonably priced and nicely served. We would definitely eat here again. Lovely atmosphere and clearly many diners were regulars, which is always a good sign. Merci!

Very good french restaurant in central London. The lunch and evening set menus give an excellent choice if you don't know what to go for. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Very good place to bring some friends who want to discover French cuisine that is different than one carrot in a plate for 100 £. Only down side is that the wines are expensive - only the Bordeaux is good (subjective opinion).

I have eaten mussels all around the world and come from a small fishing village. Little did I expect the best mussels would be found in London of all places! I have been a regular now for a few years. Nothing can top the quality of food and the prices and the whole vibe has a family feel to the team that make you feel welcomed. When I'm not eating mussels the beef bourguignon is my go to, a rich Red wine sauce, just like in France, delicious! Thanks Yagmur for the crepes! She's the crepe queen!

1) No-one at the door to greet. Standing in the entrance waiting over a minute for someone to notice you, isn’t a comfortable feeling, anywhere. 2) No acknowledgement that a reservation had been made. Tucked onto a small corner table between the bar and the door. 3) Asked for 2 of the cocktail of the day (Limoncello Spritzers). Waiter checked twice what we’d ordered (and it was written on the board at the bar), but brought to shots of Limoncello. At £10.50p each, they were not a good choice. 4) After reading the menu for 5-6 mins we gave our order, only to be told that Mussels (their speciality) was no longer available. We had booked because it is a favourite of mine, and it was my birthday. Should really have just left, but… 5) Ordered a champagne pate and sea bream which were listed as specials of the day. The ‘champagne pate’ was in fact a tough duck and peppercorn terrine served with a couple of pieces of toasted bread. The bream was cooked well and served on a bed of warm crunchy vegetables, but for some reason rocket leaves were then added which was unnecessary. Mashed potato was a stodgy gloop. 6) We didn’t stay for dessert. It was just a disappointing experience, when with a bit more thought, attention to detail (vital in hospitality) and honesty about the food would have been appreciated.

Used to come here a lot 8-9 years ago. Came back for their lunch deal as we fancied snails and mussels. Quality is good, also considering the price. I hadn’t been to this French bistro for yonks, but it really hit the mark as I strolled past while fancying a Sunday roast that wouldn’t break the bank. (It was just me and the dog). The beef was generous and tasty with good roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud and gravy. The other veg were ok. I thought it was great value. Not gourmet, but a thoroughly satisfying lunch. Coq au Vin was delicious, as was Moules Mariniere, Creme Brulee and Tarte Tatin too. All the French staples done well, and £25 for a perfectly decent bottle of French wine. What's not to love?

Our servers were Yagmur and Feyza and they really made us feel welcome and even gave us complimentary liquers and a birthday chocolate mousse with a candle for my friend. Special starter Beetroot Tartar (aubergine caviar, goat curd, maple vinaigratte aioli & crostini) was just your common beets with goat cheese. The accents weren't noticable. Another special starter of crab stuffed avocado needed a powerful aioli to bind the filling and enhance the flavor. Special main of monkfish was tasteless. Menu stalwarts of coq au Vin and rabbit in mustard sauce were strong in conception and well executed. Wine list needs vintages (and, in some cases, producers. You can't just say "Fine Tawny Port". It has to be [Producer] [Age statement] Tawny Port. E.g. Dow 10-year Tawny Port). Waitress appeared to be untrained in the art of service. Left the water she brought for us to pour. Asked people what they wanted in the order that needed least effort on her part. She would have been fine in a transport caff. She may have been a Sunday-night fill-in. Exceptionally disappointing lunch and a disgrace to French cuisine. We had the escargots, fried brie, mussels in cream sauce and salmon. The cream sauce was devoid of any flavour, as was the salmon. The brie was overpowered by the fried coating and the cranberry sauce. The escargots were the best dish but it is hard for anyone to screw up a garlic butter sauce. Out I went, for a thoroughly intense knees-up with Janto, Chunger and Big Mervyn. After drowning our sorrows with Big Merv’s inheritance from his deid Mam, and ingesting some lighter fluid avec workerman’s glue, we headed to The Joker for a knees up. First in, Chunger got in the pints which were all exceedingly tasty and helped wash down the acrid tang of glue at the back of my throat. It was only after Janto repeatedly and brazenly kept impersonating a couple on a date next to us, by doing the young man’s lovely, soft posh accent that things really got funny. ‘WHAT IS SO FUNNY?’ He boomed. ‘Please let’s just leave, these men are savages and I think they’re on something, they’re out of their heads!’ said his date. We laughed some more and Merv said, too right, we’re out of our heads on good times, and also a heavy dose of my deid Ma’s dosh. ‘You sick freaks’ intoned the gent. ‘You think you’re so funny!’ It was then that Chunger stood up and roared with the strength of a hurricane into his own pint glass - ‘I AM TRYING TO HAVE A LAUGH. MY FATHER WAS NOT VERY NICE TO ME’ We fell about the floor laughing and ordering more pints which flowed as fast as the beautiful currents of the Arno. Things became decidedly ugly when I took a gulp of the young gent’s gravy which was on his plate, but Big Mervyn settled accounts by leaning on the man’s shoulder and whispering a few sweet nothings. Overall, I had a cracking night and the craic was 90 as we Ho Ho Ho’d all the way home with the young couple’s umbrella which they very kindly gave to us, as well as £50, which was very generous.
