Small restaurant in an old farm kitchen with just a few tables creating a very relaxed and intimate setting. The menu is also small featuring mainly classic meals but very well put together. We had a three course meal for a set price and everything was beautifully cooked. They catered well for me being unable to eat gluten including some GF bread when I arrived with olives which was a really nice touch. Also the wine list is very impressive although I was driving this time so didn't get to sample. Lovely food and recommended.

Booked a few days in advance (recommended), and had a lovely meal here. Started with the salmon and warm greek salad, followed by roast rack of lamb and filet steak (done blue), and oh it was amazing. And as for the wine list... lots of our favourites so we were spoiled for choice really. Felicity & Mark are great hosts and they have a little gem here. Would highly recommend their restaurant if you are in Llanfyllin for a night or so.

We came here to celebrate a bunch of family birthdays. As we were a largish group (11 of us) we had the place to ourselves for most of the evening. Right from the start Felicity made us feel very welcome and joined in some of the banter. All the food was excellent - between us we tried pretty much all the dishes. I personally had the sardines for starter and the lamb for main - both really good. At the end we also chatted with Mark, the excellent chef. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the area.

We arrived just after 6pm and were the first in. Warmly welcomed by Felicity and Mark, they quickly gathered our coats, sat us in the window and over the next two hours waited on us beautifully. The food really is fabulous, the wine list enormous, the welcome top notch. To conclude, and at the same time endorse my comments, we will be regulars from now on, not just as a couple but when our families descend: we will take them there. Value for money is the best I have ever had, anywhere. Yes, it really IS that excellent.

I visited Seeds with my friend on several occasions during lunch time 2 yrs ago but hadn't been for an evening meal. We weren't disappointed the sea bass was cooked beautifully the flavour was amazing. The veg and potatoes were very completing to the fish. We had dessert to follow white chocolate cheesecake with salted caramel. The service was excellent and you made to feel in a very relaxed atmosphere.

What a great restaurant - cosy, quaint, small and intimate, and with the most wonderful menu of food to choose from, and not the usual run of the mill options either. Steak was cooked to perfection and a main course of devilled kidneys was just exquisite. The restaurant is very friendly and we were made to feel extremely welcome. All in all, it was a great night out, so much so that we are already planning another trip to the area, just so we can visit the restaurant again.

What a lovely evening we had at the seeds. I love a family run bistro and this didn’t disappoint it was just perfect. Small and cosy with a fab host and gorgeous food. I had the mackerel pate and my husband had the soup both piping hot and tasty we followed with fillet steak and chicken both served with local seasonal veg and I then left enough room thank goodness for creme brûlée yummy I think one of the best meals I have had in a long time. It is also a fixed price with a vast wine selection. Thank you for a lovely time and we will be back.

If you are in this area and are looking for that special little place.... Look no further than Seeds it will not disappoint. We've ate in some lovely restaurants in our time but this is up there. The front of house is the right balance of care and attention but allowing you space to enjoy the evening, whilst the chef is all about taste. This is classic cuisine without the pretentiousness of some fine dining establishments that try to put on style over substance. This chef gets the balance perfect for me a true sage of taste nothing here that doesn't contribute to the meal. The finish of treacle tart for me was a true genius at work the little addition of lemon to counter act this often to sweet tart and the texture was excellent... Simply I've eaten no better version of this. Do yourself a favour and book... You'll have no regrets. I can't wait to go back. A true gem. Thanks Alan 👍

We visited the restaurant based on reviews and were certainly not disappointed. Seeds is a lovely restaurant, excellent food and really charming service. We enjoyed it so much we booked a second visit for a couple of days later. There is a great selection of wines to choose from and next visit will be by taxi!

We've wanted to visit here for a while but have never been able to fit it in so this holiday we were determined to do it. We booked a table for the friday night but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to ring and change our reservation, no bother at all. As it happened we ended up being the only two diners there. We'd heard how good the food was, would it live up to expectations? You bet it did, and more!!! We both had grilled sardines to start with, then welsh rack of lamb and chicken breast with port and cream sauce for our mains. We finished with treacle tart and coffee. The food was amazing, a cut above anything else and yes you pay a bit more for that privilege. Was it worth the extra.....absolutely!!!

Seeds is a hidden gem. It's an intimate, boutique-style restaurant in the small, rural market town of Llanfyllin. It was a special occasion and 11 hungry souls descended on the little restaurant, including four boisterous children. We had the place to ourselves which is just as well because we were a bit noisy...sorry. We were treated, though, to three wonderful courses of locally-sourced food, including canapes. I had grilled sardines, duck breast and treacle tart...all three courses were cooked to perfection. Thank you very much for helping to make our special day one to remember.

Yes totally unexpected in this part of the world. Montgomeryshire bordering with Shropshire but a real gem of a restaurant. Run by a husband and wife team for well over twenty years, I wish I'd known that before. It's small so you need to book especially if you're a largish party. We were a party of 10 and without being specific all the food was lovely from the lamb shanks to the beautiful sea bass. Starters were equally delicious. He seemed very helpful, explaining what dishes should be OK as they were or if tweaked to needs. The atmosphere and decor were good, the food finely prepared and presented, though we normally reckon on £20pp being a treat---£30pp is what we paid, but we came away happy. We were looking forward to returning to Seeds again this year after a lovely meal and service last year whilst visiting the Phoenix Alternative Festival. It was a lovely warm day and we'd both been out running in the morning so decided to don our most casual steampunk attire and walk into the village. On entering we realised there was a large party in so grabbed a menu and sat outside in the sun. Several minutes later the owner came out and told us they were too busy to serve us! We were about to say that's fine we will wait, but he had obviously decided we were undesirables! Last year in our civvies we were treated with utmost respect - we work hard for a living to be able to travel the country and visit these festivals, just because we were dressed in different clothes does not change our social standing, how very judgemental!

My husband had steak and I had rack of Welsh lamb and both were sublime - the meat was so very tender and delicious. Portion size was great - not too much or too little - prefect. Vegetable accompaniments included cooked beetroot which is not something you usually see in a side dish and it was delicious.Overall the 2 course meal was flavoursome, filling and a joy to eat and we were happy to pay the price of £25 for 2 courses because it was a treat, however, we did feel £25 was a bit pricey.Having said that we would definitely eat there again.

Having planned a day at Lake Vyrnwy we had picked this restaurant to stop for lunch (from Trip advisor reviews.... ) In a nutshell we where told they didn't serve children's food. We hadn't asked for this information as our 2 children are well travelled and enjoy good food. Whilst quite surprised with this I explained it wouldn't be necessary to have children's food... We were then told the menu has sardines and things! I found this all a little amusing being a great fan of sardines... We were then told the tables were unable to be placed together for 5 people. A couple enjoying afternoon tea on a large table were then pointed at as the chef informed us they will be gone soon.I found this attitude and rudeness too much to bear. I apologised to the couple and told them they had no need to rush as we would be leaving. We left the restaurant quite shocked at the rudeness. The chef later apologised when we returned to speak to him about his rudeness considering we had picked his restaurant from trip advisor reviews. Rude arrogant and unacceptable. We had a lovely lunch at Lake Vyrnwy where the children ate garlic mushroom and rocket ciabatta (9 year old) and Menai mussel and smoked haddock chowder (8year old) We won't be calling for dinner on the way home. There are better more welcoming places to eat in the area.

Our server was haughty, acted superior and made us uncomfortable. We asked for water to start, received a single glass, no offers of re-fills or a pitcher as other clients were given. The food was good and well-prepared but my wife's salmon was dry. When this was mentioned at the end of the meal--the response was 'well, I did ask if everything was alright'. There was no apology or offerof anything in compensation. Overall, the prices and ratings are too high.

It's so easy to travel far and wide looking for restaurants and to actually forget the little gem on our doorstep. For more than 20 years Mark has been creating and cooking a glorious constantly changing menu using the very freshest ingredients while his wife Felix has been charming everyone front of house. They are a double-act beyond compare & when they are not about their restaurant is closed - that way standards are always maintained.Another stunning meal this weekend with plenty to excite on the menu including starters of the sweetest dressed crab and a very tasty goats cheese salad, mains of red mullet fillets on baked Mediterranean veg, and chicken in port sauce, and puds of lemon posset, white chocolate cheesecake and Mark's legendary treacle tart. Huge reasonably priced wine list too put together by a real expert.Heartily recommended

Our neighbours invited us to join them for a Saturday night out at this restaurant that they had visited several times and been impressed. Felicity & Mark moved from London 25 years ago to renovate this 16th century house which was Grade 2 listed a few years later. They run it single handed on Thursdays through to Sundays with 6 tables. It has a nice relaxed feel to it with old wooden beams and simple wood tables & chairs with cushions for added comfort! Felicity looked after us impeccably while Mark produced a thoroughly fulsome 3 course meal. We booked ourselves in for a pre-concert meal next Friday prior to the Allegri string quartet in the village church. I'm sure we'll be making it a regular treat.

Over the last few years I have written a few reviews of hotels and restaurants that we have visited but for some reason neglected the ones we use on a fairly regular basis. It is a little like our very own corner of beautiful Mid Wales here at Llanfyllin which is so breathtaking, but we take so much for granted. However this weekend`s true treat at Seeds is one that I am unable to push aside or almost take totally for granted without a review of appreciation. We attended an evening of celebration as our friend reached a special birthday. We all knew that we were to be treated well as we have visited this restaurant regularly but the quality of superb food was only matched by the service-well done team Seeds !! The lovely atmosphere and ambiance was really wonderful and each course a treasure. Some years ago I read a review by Mavis Nicholson on this, her choice of eating places-it glowed about Seeds-now we know why. Thanks to Gwyn for reaching his special birthday and thanks Seeds for making his treat so very special.Diolch,Alwyn and Judith.

We booked the restaurant for a party of 14 for my husbands 50th. The owners were superb, designing a menu around his tastes and ensuring they got in the freshest ingredients. Even though we were a large party they didn't require us to pre-order and were even accommodating of some last minute food tastes. Our host was delightful, cheery, with the right level banter, drinks were flowing and we didn't have to wait for anything. We had a lovely time, great food, great atmosphere and great hosts - well worth a visit

We had 15 of us at a birthday party food was great cooked as asked with plenty of it. It was a set price per head and very reasonable for quality and quantity. They don't stock lot of real ale so best to forewarn them if your a crowd of drinkers. It's a lovely old building with a nice atmosphere we will definitely return.

We were staying about half an hours drive from Seeds and the restaurant was recommended by the owner of our lodge. Although he hadn't visited for quite a few years, he still held the place in good regard. We needed a place to eat last minute to celebrate a birthday on the 2nd January and thankfully we were lucky enough to acquire a table. The welcome was informal and polite and fitting with the venue. You feel as though you're in the dining room with friends. We were welcomed by the Chef, a first for me and promptly waited on throughout our stay. Our party of 4 had a 3 course meal and enjoyed every peice. In addition, we particularly enjoyed the engaging with the entertainment which was a collection of books by our table. The restaurant is quaint, food superb, prices appropriate, decor interesting and service second to none. I later learned that Seeds is one of the recommended places to eat in 2015, you can certainly see why!

We were passing and wanted a small light lunch. This was the perfect spot, a lovely friendly owner/chef who gave us the history of the place, and perfectly cooked fresh sardines with a dressed salad and warm bread. We wished it could have been nearer to us so we could go in the evening and sample what looked like a wonderful menu.

We were looking for somewhere for a light lunch or snack on our drive, and having eschewed Mac's Snacks, Grandad's Cafe and a hotel that advertised home cooked food but was clearly closed, we saw a sign saying 'Light Bites' in Llanfyllin. This turned out to be Seeds, and although all we wanted was some grilled sardines, to which we added delicious bread and a glass of wine, it was absolutely delightful - beautifully grilled plump sardines (though we could have done with a little sea salt sprinkled on them), a lightly dressed green salad and a lovely chat with the owner. We wished we lived closer, so could have come for a full evening meal - for a light snack, this was a lovely find.

This is an excellent restaurant deep into Wales, run and owned by the chef and his wife. We live half an hour away and on many visits have never been disappointed. As a medium priced restaurant it is excellent value for money. It is the best restaurant in the district by a long way. Previously the chef worked in several high class restaurants and this shows in the quality of his food. The menu is relatively short but changes regularly. The food is superb; I recommend the kidneys. The atmosphere is very friendly and the service is faultless. Perhaps the outstanding feature is the long wine list - the chef is very knowledgeable if you are interested. We recommend this restaurant highly; it is well worth 5 stars.Sue and Nigel Tubbs, Rhydycroesau.

We stayed here with our two dogs for one night prior to attending the Welsh Kennel Club Champ Show. Our room was really well equipped and very nicely laid out, and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The full english breakfast was spot on, and they went out of their way to ensure it was ready for us promptly as we had to head off to the show. We will definitely stay here again.

Went to find this pub for Sunday lunch, Aug 2021 The pub is no longer operating. Also tried The Dragon in Montgomery which was only serving food to residents at present.
