Stayed here for the Easter Break from good Friday till the Monday. Such a lovely feel to this hotel. The food on Saturday evening was to die for we had our friends join us and all had Beef Wellington and all agreed the best one we have ever had ! Second time staying at this hotel and would definitely go back as staff and management are lovely.

We both had the steak. I ordered mine well done and had to return it as it was still pink. The steaks were very tasteless as was the peppercorn sauce. The chips were not great either. They tasted like frozen chips. The manager did take my steak off of the bill as it wasn’t cooked as I asked the first time which I did appreciate. I wouldn’t return

I don’t recommend this for a large group, they were clearly overwhelmed. Service was incredibly slow. Over two hours before we were served and food when it finally arrived was inedible.

Fantastic Sunday lunch here, for the 3rd time in the last couple of months. Plentiful, tender roast beef, served in a beautiful dining room. Service good, though some of the staff do seem a little unsure. We still think it’s the best roast around. We have also had dinner at Seckford Hall, and that was a lovely experience. Don’t look at the old reviews, this place is very good.

The menu isn't extensive, but it is certainly different, to the usual run of the mill menus. If you were staying for any length of time, you would need to repeat your choices, as the menu doesn't change daily. Service good, discreet, possibly a tiny bit slow taking orders, but they were very busy and helpful waiters, explaing the dishes. Great place for a special occasion.

We had an evening meal at this restaurant which excelled our expectations. We believe it’s under new management so the previous reviews we read, were out of date. The food was really delicious and well presented and the staff were on the ball and very friendly. I’m not one for writing reviews, just reading them but felt this place deserved a true up to date review.

We could not celebrate my 80th birthday last year due to covid so booked a table for lunch for my 81st birthday this year. NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED. The restaurant was cold and drab with no heating ona very cold day except some portable noisy fan heaters and we were the only ones there for the duration of our lunch. The food was good but I had to chase up a waitress to get another drink and she never came to see if we were ok. I emailed a complaint to the manageress when we got home and it took several days to get her response. It was an apology with an invite to try again and she would personally take to booking: Who cares who takes the booking?? I replied and said I would expect a monetary incentive to come again and she offered me a measly 10% discount which is about 6 quid on a meal for 2. I emailed again and expressed my disgust that a milestone birthday had been spoiled was only worth six quid but have received no response. This hotel needs to sort its act out as we will certainly never go there again AND THE FOOD WAS VERY EXPENSIVE which with such a drab and miserable atmosphere in the dining room is unacceptable. Thought we'd try seckford hall again to see if it had improved since the last time we went perhaps 2 years ago. It hasn't. Probably worse. We asked to be moved from the charmless restaurant as it was so noisy because of all hard surfaces. Ate in the bar with sticky tables. Tasteless salmon fishcakes for starters. No condiments. My lamb Sunday roast was horrible. Veg ok but meat tasteless and soft, almost slimy. Other meals were good. One of us had the burger and was handed an almost empty bottle of ketchup. Another almost empty bottle brought. Salt grinder didn't work, a replacement brought and almost slammed down on the table. No attempt to compensate for inedible lamb. Won't be going again for another few years. Pity. Hall and grounds look slender but interior has been ruined.

This is a Restaurant review as we did not stay at the hotel. Really disappointed . We were really looking forward to returning to Seckford Hall restaurant for a treat on the last night of our holiday. Very limited pub menu on a one page paper menu . My request for rack of lamb to be more well done was basically ignored with waiter just swapping my meal with my wife's in a "try that one" attempt. All 3 of our meals lukewarm with my son's steak being very tough . We were offered cocktails as compensation which we declined so just paid the expensive bill and left very, very dissatisfied and disappointed. Such a fall from grace :-(

I was staying for two nights at Seckford Hall so decided to eat at the restaurant. Starters were okay but nothing special. For the main course my wife and I decided on the steak. My wife wanted medium to well done but received well done. I chose well done, which it was but was dry as a desert. The chips were hard almost under cooked. When I asked for some vinegar the waitress brought a bottle with 2 or 3 mm left. I had to ask another waitress for some more. I didn't want anything on the dessert menu, so I asked for an Irish coffee. I was given Tia Maria in coffee with cream! I decided to finish with a brandy. The only brandy they had was Courvoisier! Nothing better. I was given a discount on the bill for my wife's steak being overdone and a proper Irish coffee when I complained, but this is not something I expected in a place like this. Frankly, I have had better meals in a Beefeater.

We had lunch sitting outside in the lovely garden. The staff couldn't do enough for us - they even brought a water bowl for the dog! The food was lovely - we all had different meals and all enjoyed what we had. All the Covid safety measures were in place but did not affect our experience in any way.

I had a post-Christmas lunch here as part of a very large group (probably about 70 people). The food was excellent, considering the number of diners, as was the service. The price was reasonable too. I'd happily eat here again.

After at stay at Seckford Hall we arranged a round of golf . On arrival we were told that the course was busy and that we must stick with our 10.50 tee time. This was no problem as we followed another 2 ball ,however by the 10th we were held up on every hole as there were two groups of 4 in front and these slowed down our round. The course although short is a good challenge with mainly a mixture of par 3 and par 4 holes. The greens although wet were in good condition and ran truly. The tees needed some work as they were quite scruffy but the fairways were ok and with winter rules in place were a fair contest. The green fee of £20 per person represented good value we were told that this was with a discount applied as we were hotel guests. We did not try the catering facilities. Overall a good place for a round of golf

I put a review on here about an awful stay we had for dad 70 birthday. The manager gave a reply saying he was unaware (he was aware) and to call him which I did he said he would look into it and call me back that was about two months ago . Thank you Sean Riley for not getting back to me much appreciated. Not good that a manager would not deal with problems that occur in this hotel .

We took my 93 year Dad for dinner. Dad's very unstable on his feet. There were no lights to light the way to the front door which wasn't helpful. Dad asked for a room temperature ginger beer and lime. It came with ice in it. I asked for sparkling water and lime and got soda water and lime. We waited 45 minutes before we were taken to our table. When we went into the restaurant three tables were occupied. The leak and potato soup was OK. There was then a long wait before our main course arrived. After the main course had arrived there was then a long wait before the side dishes arrived. The sea trout was OK. While we were eating the unoccupied tables were being set for breakfast. This is supposed to be a four star establishment. Another guest, at another table, complained about something and wasn't dealt with at all well. The guest was unpleasant and our evening was spoilt. On the way out we were asked if we had enjoyed the cabaret (in reference to the unpleasant guest). The following day we went to a fish and chip restaurant in Felixstowe and had a great meal, with great service, for less than a third of the price. The service needs to be greatly improved. It felt like we were being looked after by people who hand't been trained, didn't have much of a clue and didn't particularly care.

My aunt and her husband went for her 80th birthday. They had been married at Seckford Hall many years before and been every year on her birthday for a special meal. They had never before been disappointed. They arrived first in the restaurant. They ordered the Dover sole and lamb. The dishes were delivered after over an 1 hour and the sole was a plate of chopped up fish that was tasteless and thick lumps not like sole. On complaining they were informed it was the correct dish and because lots of people ordered it they had decided to chop it up.They were given a discount and an extra glass of wine each but it was the lack of apology that was most dissapointing and they felt that the standard of food had deteriorated.

The house is extremely impressive and I use to go their with my parents many years ago so my expectations were quite high. However this was extremely disappointing the pigeon breast starter was over cooked, my walnut and cheese soufflé was slightly burnt on the outside with no favour of walnuts whatsoever. The steaks were superb tender and flavoursome however the dauphinoise were quite solid and the chips my husband ordered were not homemade. He also ordered marmalade bread and butter pudding which was ok but it did feel that to much of an attempt was made with the presentation. With a bottle of wine some water a pint of Aspels and 1 coffee landed us with a bill of £95 which I felt was extortionate. Sadly not a great experience!

Visited today with my husband for two vegan hotdogs. Waited 30 minutes and went to counter to see if we had been forgotten, was told with no apology they had some big orders. 15 minutes later our food arrived with an apology about the wait. My husbands order was in correct, they took it away and corrected the order but his hotdog was cold when it was returned. When we went to pay we offered feedback as none was asked for and the response was that there was only two of them working and they were busy. No discount offered or compensatory cake or such. It cost £22 for a thoroughly poor experience.

Over-priced food - an unbelievable £4.75 for a stodgy, tasteless cheese scone with one pat of hard, cold butter. Only managed to eat half of it, really unpleasant, threw the rest away. The cakes were not covered and crawling with flies. Sandwiches even more over-priced at £8.25 for a small cheese sandwich with white bread. This cafe used to be so much better. Will drive past in future and not stop here.

Ver disappointed. Two young girls on duty who were indifferent to our questions. We sat down and neither came to ask if we needed drinks before ordering. There was only one other family in the restaurant. Left without ordering. Have been before with better results but not happy with the lack of service.

All the staff were attentive, happy, and cheerful. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go again when visiting Aldeburgh!

We took advantage of an unexpectedly sunny Sunday to take a friend in a wheelchair for a stroll on the prom and brunch at the Alex — where we knew there was an accessible loo, should it be needed. Our order included a vegan breakfast, muffin and poached eggs and smoked haddock fishcakes, plus cake. All were good, fresh and well-cooked. Hats off to the chef who perfectly poached those eggs. The staff were friendly and professional and went out of their way to help us with wheelchair manoeuvring. The place feels well-run.
