I don’t recommend this for a large group, they were clearly overwhelmed. Service was incredibly slow. Over two hours before we were served and food when it finally arrived was inedible.

Another excellent meal at the Terrace restaurant. Lots of choice and plenty for all diets/vegans. Can’t wait until party night in a couple of weeks.

I had a post-Christmas lunch here as part of a very large group (probably about 70 people). The food was excellent, considering the number of diners, as was the service. The price was reasonable too. I'd happily eat here again.

After at stay at Seckford Hall we arranged a round of golf . On arrival we were told that the course was busy and that we must stick with our 10.50 tee time. This was no problem as we followed another 2 ball ,however by the 10th we were held up on every hole as there were two groups of 4 in front and these slowed down our round. The course although short is a good challenge with mainly a mixture of par 3 and par 4 holes. The greens although wet were in good condition and ran truly. The tees needed some work as they were quite scruffy but the fairways were ok and with winter rules in place were a fair contest. The green fee of £20 per person represented good value we were told that this was with a discount applied as we were hotel guests. We did not try the catering facilities. Overall a good place for a round of golf

This is a great place to go when they have a quiz night. The quiz master is excellent, the questions answerable and fun and the supper pretty good and all for £15 per head. Always a thoroughly enjoyable evening / and prizes for the teams coming 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Roll on the next one!

We booked a table for a birthday celebration. At first the entrance was really nice to look at. An old Tudor’s house with an impressive hysteria over the front. The restaurant was not busy and we were early. The menu is mediocre. There was nothing on the menu that stood out. I chose a crayfish and prawns cocktails to start, by the way it had a lot of mayo on it... a little over bearing for me followed by a rib eye steak , 8oz , it is on the small size with a £30,00 price tag. The service is slow, almost inexistente. Bread was only offered once and after we finished our starters we waited over 20 minutes to have our plates cleared. At any given point no one came to check on our food. They must be very confident they serve good food here. I have ordered my steak medium rare and it was served blue. Once again no one came around to check on us. I had to find a member of staff and I ask to re-cook my steak. At this point I was hungry and I ate it. It was not nice. It did not taste nice, it tasted burnt. Once again no one came to check on us. I guess this place was the place to be but it is not. It lacks atmosphere and service. We had four different members of staff attending our table what I think contributes to the lack of personal service and attention. At the end of our meal, we decided to leave and pay at the front desk because no one bothered to come and check on us... and we will not be bothering to come back. Always check on your customers after serving their meals. don’t put the plate on the table and assume your work is done.

As a birthday treat my husband booked a meal for us at the restaurant in Seckford Hall. The setting is stunning and when we arrived we were asked if we would like a drink before dinner. We were offered a table in the lovely garden and the restaurant manager said she would bring us drinks and the menus. When these didn’t appear after twenty minutes my husband went into the hotel to check up on our order. The manager was apologetic but she had forgotten us. My husband came back with the menus. Drinks eventually arrived and our dinner order was taken. When we were informed we went into the restaurant. My starter was prawn and crayfish cocktail Marie Rose sauce. No Marie Rose sauce to be seen except for a watery pink splodge under the lettuce. I asked for more sauce which came in a separate bowl and was the correct consistency. My main course was a rare rump steak. The steak was cooked perfectly for me, but may have been a little on the ‘French’ side for some people. The fries though were definitely under seasoned, I tried to add some salt but the grinder was empty. Eventually I was able to ask one of the staff for a grinder with some salt. She said she would get a new one but no salt was forthcoming. I had to call her to our table to remind her and she was not very amenable to this, I felt very uncomfortable. After the main course my husband decided to have a desert, Eton Mess. This took over twenty minutes to arrive. I asked for our bill when my husband had finished but I had to go and find someone for this. The member of staff asked if everything had been all right with our meal. I said ‘no I wasn’t happy’ and listed all the above. She said she would tell the manager, I said I would like to talk to the manager. After ten minutes we gave up and left. A very disappointing evening.

Personale eccellente ;)

We were given a dining voucher for Seckford Hall as a Christmas present and had looked forward to using it for 5 months before we had the opportunity to visit. The venue and surrounding grounds are simply stunning and you know you're in for a treat when you arrive. Food and wine were up to scratch. Service was good but not too formal. Overall, the experience of dining in this restaurant is made special by the building itself.

I put a review on here about an awful stay we had for dad 70 birthday. The manager gave a reply saying he was unaware (he was aware) and to call him which I did he said he would look into it and call me back that was about two months ago . Thank you Sean Riley for not getting back to me much appreciated. Not good that a manager would not deal with problems that occur in this hotel .

We took my 93 year Dad for dinner. Dad's very unstable on his feet. There were no lights to light the way to the front door which wasn't helpful. Dad asked for a room temperature ginger beer and lime. It came with ice in it. I asked for sparkling water and lime and got soda water and lime. We waited 45 minutes before we were taken to our table. When we went into the restaurant three tables were occupied. The leak and potato soup was OK. There was then a long wait before our main course arrived. After the main course had arrived there was then a long wait before the side dishes arrived. The sea trout was OK. While we were eating the unoccupied tables were being set for breakfast. This is supposed to be a four star establishment. Another guest, at another table, complained about something and wasn't dealt with at all well. The guest was unpleasant and our evening was spoilt. On the way out we were asked if we had enjoyed the cabaret (in reference to the unpleasant guest). The following day we went to a fish and chip restaurant in Felixstowe and had a great meal, with great service, for less than a third of the price. The service needs to be greatly improved. It felt like we were being looked after by people who hand't been trained, didn't have much of a clue and didn't particularly care.

My aunt and her husband went for her 80th birthday. They had been married at Seckford Hall many years before and been every year on her birthday for a special meal. They had never before been disappointed. They arrived first in the restaurant. They ordered the Dover sole and lamb. The dishes were delivered after over an 1 hour and the sole was a plate of chopped up fish that was tasteless and thick lumps not like sole. On complaining they were informed it was the correct dish and because lots of people ordered it they had decided to chop it up.They were given a discount and an extra glass of wine each but it was the lack of apology that was most dissapointing and they felt that the standard of food had deteriorated.

The house is extremely impressive and I use to go their with my parents many years ago so my expectations were quite high. However this was extremely disappointing the pigeon breast starter was over cooked, my walnut and cheese soufflé was slightly burnt on the outside with no favour of walnuts whatsoever. The steaks were superb tender and flavoursome however the dauphinoise were quite solid and the chips my husband ordered were not homemade. He also ordered marmalade bread and butter pudding which was ok but it did feel that to much of an attempt was made with the presentation. With a bottle of wine some water a pint of Aspels and 1 coffee landed us with a bill of £95 which I felt was extortionate. Sadly not a great experience!

Our last visit was for New Years Eve and it was themed evening involving a Murder Mystery with other activities with a meal halfway through the evening.Although this was a special function (open to all), I need to mention the varied hot buffet menu which was again excellent and along with the hard working and attentative staff made the evening a very happy and enjoyable evening.Don't be put off by the "golf club" title, its an open venue with good food and open to all.Its located just past the Elizabethan Hall and shares the same fantastic views.I have been with friends on several occasions and would return again both foor eating and other functions.

A fantastic night was had by one and all, a murder mystery evening with a bit of a twist......it included a quiz, a song to write appropriate lyrics which one member of each team preformed and of course the murder to solve. The 2 course meal was excellent, all followed by a glass of champagne at midnight.
