Seaview Restaurant at The Chine in Bournemouth

We had a lovely meal in the Amalfi restaurant in The Chine Hotel, The grounds of the hotel are wonderful with some fantastic gardens to explore & a lovely short walk to the beach. The restaurant is decorated wonderfully & you are whisked back in time to an art deco period, with so much memorabilia of famous people who have stayed here in the past. The meal was great, there was a lot of choice & it was cooked to perfection using locally sourced fresh ingredients. The staff were helpful & friendly & this made our experience fantastic.

My husband and I had three courses. All were delicious. The staff were very friendly. Shame about the hotel which I’ve reviewed separately.

Me alojé en el hotel Chine con mi Golden Retriever por 3 noches a principios de este mes. El hotel tiene una decoración fabulosa y el restaurante es encantador. La comida excelente, a un precio muy razonable y todo el personal fue extremadamente amable y el servicio fue excelente También cené en el área del bar ya que mi perro fue bienvenido allí y todo lo escrito arriba también se aplicó allí Definitivamente me quedaría otra vez

Die Kommentatoren verwechseln offensichtlich das Bar-Menueü mit dem Dinner-Menue im Seaview Restaurant ! Das erstere ist ganztägig erhältlich, verschiedene Nachos, Fish&Chips , Sandwiches etc., wird im Barbereich oder auch aussen serviert. Das Dinner als solches findet ab 19.00 Uhr statt, vorher wird - wie zumindest jetzt im Juli/August - ein Kids-Buffet aufgebaut, mit Burger, Fish sticks, Säften etc.; tolle Sache für Familien! Das eigentliche Dinner besteht aus einem Wahlmenue mit fünf bis sechs Vorspeisen bzw. Hauptgerichten ferner etlichen Nachspeisen. Zwei Gänge 20, drei 22 Pds.; Jeden Penny wert !!! Wir haben zweimal dort gegessen, und es war jedes Mal erste Klasse!! Beispiel eins: Lachsröllchen gefüllt mit Forellenmousse auf Salaten, Pork Belly (mit Kruste !) und Gemüse-/Kartoffeln; am zweiten Abend gegrillte Prawns und ein großes Stück rosa Roastbeef mit Sauce - alles in mehr als reichlichen Portionen und köstlich!! Unbedingte Empfehlung !!

We enjoyed a lovely meal in the Chine Hotel,whilst staying as guests in the hotel. The service was good and there was more than one vegetarian choice.

Good food, not overpriced. We had nachos and it was very good. Drinks were great too. Closes quite early at 9pm though.

Arriving at The Chine Hotel we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere. We had a drink at the bar, where the bar staff went out of their way to make sure we were served promptly and very polite. We were shown to our table in the restaurant, where we had fantastic service by the waiting staff. We all ordered the shoulder of lamb which was beautifully cooked. We all enjoyed our meals and will definitely be returning. 10 out of 10 for service, decor,and fantastic ambience. A big thank you to The Chine Hotel we will be back.

Dined here recently, meal was pretty good for the price. But, the decor could do with a upgrade. Overall I would Recommend. Very polite staff.

The food is excellent - well presented and not as expensive as I expected. The tables are set out with sufficient room so that your meal is as intimate as you wish.

We used this restaurant every evening of our three night stay at The Chine Hotel. Every meal was very good, well presented and of good quality ingredients and prepared beautifully. The service was excellent, helpful and attentive. Would definitely eat there again whether we stay at the hotel or not.

A fantastic place to eat , not only a wonderful view but the food was amazing, service very very good and made to feel very welcome, really an enjoyable place to be .

An excellent menu albeit limited offered a good choice, all nicely presented and excellent service. Staff very efficient and friendly.

Cant really fault the hotel BUT food is poor and over priced and a small language barrier at times with the staff.

Pop in here for celebration high tea. The surroundings are pleasing and the view is excelent with tables in an arc around the windows overlooking the sea

Breakfast every day with a great choice, and dinner one evening which was also excellent. The evening meal was actually 'fine dining' with food beautifully cooked and presented. It takes a lot to impress me but I cannot fault this restaurant.

No puedo quejarme de este, tuve una semana fantástica allí. el personal encantador, la comida excelente me encantaría volver, sentirse totalmente relajado y descansado, lo que yo llamo un verdadero vacaciones.

The restaurant has great reviews with very good food and great service. Will use again the next time we use this hotel.

I was staying at The Chine on business and ate in the restaurant on 2 occasions in the evening. The set 3 course menu was varied on both occasions,well though out menu and elegantly delivered. Excellent value for £19.95.

I decided to eat here on the last night of a 3 night stay. Reception, seating and service eas pretty good. Prompt and fairly friendly. Bread and water. Got a bit of a short measure on my wine. Foodcwas a set menu, a few choices. Overall it was fair quality and fair price. Desert was v good, strawberry and clotted cream with a brandy snap shell. Still a bit hungry, will pig out at breakfast!

I felt that I had to leave this review as I simply cannot understand why places like this spend money on advertising to get people through the door and then allow their staff to deliver non existent, no, in fact rude and obnoxious, service.I need to say that we did not eat here, my parents and I were looking for somewhere to book for a few days in the Autumn as we visit my son who lives in Bournemouth on a regular basis, and so called in here just for a pot of tea.Firstly we waited for around 10 minutes at the bar and despite a waitress popping back behind the bar on a couple of occasions we were never acknowledged, simply ignored. I then went to the reception to ask if it were possible to order some tea as there was no one at the bar. I received a rude comment from the young man on reception ( who was not busy) and was directed back to the bar as the waitress had re appeared. She then promptly disappeared again! When we eventually were served, 2 hot pots of tea, cups, saucers and milk were placed on the bar. No offer to bring them over to a table, just left on the bar and payment demanded. I asked if it were possible to have a tray and the waitress plonked one down and walked away. Despite the attitude of the waitress at no point was I rude, so this treatment was totally unjustified.I am sure this review wont stop people booking, the hotel has lovely views and gardens but the management need to note that there is absolutely no point in employed quality chefs and spending thousands of pounds on advertising when basic staff let down the hotel on first point of contact with potential guests. Guests such as ourselves who visit several times throughout the quieter winter months also. I appreciate that the staff were busy but the unfriendly way we were treated by junior staff will ensure we never set foot in the place again.

Nous avons partagé un dîner à 20 heures 15, en pleine saison touristique estivale, dans ce restaurant avec vue sur la mer. Seules 3 tables étaient occupées dans une grande salle à manger au décor quelque peu vieillot. Point positif : le rapport prix-qualité du menu servi (entrée, plat, dessert) pour 20 £. Point négatif : le service peu professionnel caractérisé par l'envie d'en finir au plus vite (la cuisine ferme à 21 heures). Dommage car les plats sont assez bons, bien que sans grande originalité.

Stayed here for a long weekend 12-15 June. All staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Nice room with a sea view, clean, tidy and comfortable bed. Only downside was large hot water pipe running through bedroom which made it really hot as the weather was hot anyway. Great breakfast buffet with good choice. We had an evening meal the first night which was good value. Pool, jacuzzi and sauna clean and well run. Outdoor pool closed for maintenance on the Saturday/Sunday and no sign of the outdoor jacuzzi, although we think it may have been "decked" over.

This is a restaurant where the portions may seem modest but the quality and flavours are excellent. When you come to leave the table I think that most people will feel that they have had more than ample.

breakfast was a travesty. 25 minute wait for each food item to turn up and never enough for the queues waiting. no tea or coffee offered. Total waste of time and wouldn't advise others to waste their money on a £13 breakfast which consists of no hot drink, and only two sausages. Pathetic.

The serving staff were the least attentive I've come across in a long time! We had to ask to order drinks, main course and deserts. Waitress was miserable and almost threw the cutlery at us!

All meals hot and very tasty excellent service beef and lamb meals very good large choice of meals each day menu different each evening ,its best to book a table and ask for one overlooking the gardens staff are very attentive and helpful at all times.

We ate at this restaurant on Mother's Day, and had a good meal. The service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and the food was good quality, well-cooked and presented. We did not manage the dessert as the starter and main course were both generous portions. The dining room is pleasant, and window tables have good views of the gardens, and you can, actually see the sea!

The service was brilliant and staff were very helpful and friendly. The presentation of the food was beautiful and we enjoyed our food and were very happy and content when leaving.

It is one of the best parts of the hotel. It has its victorian charm and elegance in decoration , with red carpets, chandeliers , beautifully laid out tables and stunning views of the sea and the Chine gardens. It is a lovely place to eat a meal. The breakfast buffet is served from morning 7am to 10am and is complimentary to the guests of the hotel...however it is open to outsiders as well.Breakfast is very good and whole range of cooked breakfast is available . They also have 3 course fixed menu evening dinner/ Tea . Menu changes every day. packed lunch comprising of sandwiches can be ordered the day before.

The restaurant has a lovely feel to it, staff are great, food and drink was lovely, nice memories. We ordered a set menu which was £20 each. The choice was very nicely thought through. The food was cooked well and tasted lovely. We stayed at the hotel but you can also just come in for the meals which I would recommend if you want a nice meal at a good price.

Food was superb! A fine buffet, not a huge variety, but excellent quality and as much as you could eat! Had two night stay at the hotel and ate at the restaurant both nights.. Cannot fault it!

Fab views, lovely hotel, good customer service. Very reasonable Sunday lunch menu plus a discount if you a gym member at the hotel.

The views from the Seaview Restaurant are magnificent. If you ask for a window seat the views over Boscombe Bay will be memorable - but do not be disappointed if your table has views over the enchanting Chine Garden with its tropical plants and interesting pathways. The food is also excellent with the choices varying every day. We stayed four nights and both breakfast and evening meal were of a high standard.

We had a beautiful evening meal at this restaurant, and a very good breakfast the morning afterwards too. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are bright and cheerful and actually seem happy to serve you. I think this speaks as much for the teamwork behind the scenes as it does for the front-of-house staff.

Dinner menu changed daily but all beautifully presented and very well cooked. Portion size just right.

The food is wonderful, it is posh nosh in reasonable portions. An extensive wine list and knowledge is a pleasant surprise.

Bought a groupon for a spa day with afternoon tea and had a fab day. Have used similar groupons before and have sometimes felt like a second class customer but that was not the case here. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special,with all staff very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them. After a dip in the pool and lovely outdoor hot tub, we had a fab afternoon tea. Again the staff were wonderful, bringing another pot of tea when we finished the first. The food was wonderful too, the scones melted in the mouth and we had so much choice we couldn't eat it all. The afternoon tea is very reasonable priced if you pay full price, I would go back again and pay full.price!!

The service at the Seaview Restaurant was very formal and didn't match the 3* rating of the hotel. There was not a large selection, but the menu changed every evening. The food was cooked well, however the lack of choice was disappointing.

The lamb was really nice, duck good, strawberry dessert could be better and I'd rather have the raspberry coulis on the dessert, not on the plate.Service perfect.

The food is well cooked and presented by lovely staff. The wine is very reasonable. The mussels are a must. The views overlooking the gardens are beautiful.

Food very good, not massive portions so if you are starving it might not be for you. £65 off their set menu with wine.

We went for lunch to meet some old family friends. The menu wasnt extensive, though I like that, the service was quick and polite and the food was well presented and tasty. I had the fish an chips and it was good quality fish in a light batter. Walked through the gardens afterwards which were delightful

Main course cold. Sent back then came back so hot as if nuked through a microwave. Obviously so called chef getting his own back. Food also overpriced
