We were up in Ullapool as part our road trip down the West Coast of Scotland. After pitching the tent we thought we'd head in to the town for some dinner and a few drinks to prepare us for the chilly night ahead. The first place we saw was the Seaforth and thought we'd head inside for some warmth and some grub. There was only one other table at the time, which wasn't surprising as it is out of season. We ordered a pint and some food and it came reasonably quickly. But this is where the positives ended unfortunately. The cheesy garlic bread starter was just a baguette with a mound of cheese on top and was likely bought from Tesco around the corner and fired off in the oven. The mains were not much better. My chicken burger was very dry, very bland and overall very disappointing. The fish and chips also very dry and tasteless, which is very surprising considering the same business owns the chippy next door. Despite the dry and tasteless food we had partially consumed, the hardest part to swallow was the fact that two courses each and one drink each amounted to £63. There was also a mandatory 10% gratuity. If this was peak summer period and the staff were running off their feet, I can see why this would be appropriate. It certainly was not like that on this occasion. Overall, I won't be back. The food was underwhelming, and the prices are just completely bonkers. We should've checked here first as there are plenty previous reviews that follow the same trend. Avoid.

My collegaue and I had dinner and a couple of drinks on our way for the ferry to Stornoway. First of all I'd like to say the staff are fantastic, very friendly and inviting, well looked after. As to the food, we had the prawn linguine and a chicken burger. The chicken burger was bland, not seasoned in any way, and served with a few chips. The linguine for £26 is embarrassing, a handful of pasta, 1 whole prawn and a few prawns from tesco, how anyone can justify this price? I don't know. The beer is fairly priced, my colleague had a cider was £7, again can buy from shops for £2.50. Overall over £60 for this meal is a disgrace. We went up the road after to the Caley which is very nice and more reasonably priced.

Last weekend we headed to Ullapool to celebrate our 15th anniversary and on Saturday night went to the Seaforth Bar for dinner. What I would like to know is how they justify the price of the meals. Before I go on my rant I do want to say that Debbie who served us was so lovely and and us feel really welcome. How can they justify £22 for the Haddock Mornay and £26 for king prawn linguine? Thats what I would like to know. The Haddock mornay was so disappointing!! There wasn't even a whole Haddock in there but there was plenty of cheese sauce and breadcrumbs!! Also... what's the deal with it coming with either salad or chips?? For £22!!! Why not some nice fresh vegetables and baby potatoes!! Jen had the Prawn Linguine which she did enjoy but it was such a small portion with 1 whole langoustine and 5 king prawns. It was a bit of a weird pasta dish and definitely not worth £26!!! That is a massive mark up! I know food prices have went up but not that much!! We had two unsatisfying meals for £50!! Thats nuts and I can't see how they can justify those prices! The best bit of the night was Debbie!! She was lovely. It certainly waste the food.

Bought a Chippy and most of it was thrown in the bin. The chips were hard in the middle obviously under cooked the battered sausage turned out to be smoked sausage asked if I could change it and was told they didn't have an alternative so I kept it but it was hard unlike the chips this was overcooked. Curry Sauce was out of a tub of knorr Ready to use and they just added water and microwaved it. My wife had Scampi and it was tasteless hardly any Prawn inside and mostly all batter. Obviously bought in cheap rubbish and charging a fortune . The lady who served us was very polite and apologetic in it wasn't for her I would make as a one.

We came to ullapool at the end of a Scottish holiday that included Glasgow Edinburgh and Aberdeen. This was the most expensive meal on our whole trip and really poor for value for money. £20 for very average fish and chips. By comparison, at the ashvale restaurant in Aberdeen we had the best fish and chips on our trip for less. £7 for a pint. By far the most drink and more expensive than even London £2 for a pint of soda. Everyone else we had a soda it was free £180 for 5 of us including drinks. We could have had much the same from the excellent chippy round the corner, and a pint at the local pub for half that price. Nor were we paying extra for "atmosphere and ambience" because there wasn't much of that either.

On holiday for a week in Inverness and decided to do run over to Ullapool for the fabled Chippie fish supper. If the only reason i went there was for fish and chips, unfortunately it would have been a wasted journey. 1st impressions, clean and tidy enough, look up at the prices and think wtf! £12.50 for a fish supper! £4 more than my local chippie, whatever, i'm on holiday in the country i live and expect to be ripped off the same as the tourists. Ordered a fish supper, pulled out my wallet and presented cash.........sorry we only accept card! Really! Upon opening the box to add salt i thought this is the strangest fish i have ever seen. It was rectangular but had a tail sticking out. Taste. The chips are undoubtedly ranked among the best chips i have tasted from any chippie, however the portion was small, 1 scoop. Now onto the fish. Batter too thick and undercooked. I honestly had a piece of batter in the middle that was 3 or 4mm thick, crisped on the outside 1mm and the rest soggy. and greasy. I could hardly find the fish for the soggy batter and ended up binning most of it. Maybe i just visited on a bad frier day. Imo don't waste your money on a fish supper if it is cooked anything like i received but definitely do buy some chips. They are lovely. as may be some of the other thingd they sell.

Service pretentious and slow . Glass of Pinot no choice. Very average. Scallops well cooked very good only three, lack of sauce streaky bacon, one slice, well done. Black pudding neither here nor there. Service between courses very slow. Salmon reasonable size. Zesty sauce. Mash and spinach. Salmon over salted with sea salt. A mouthful of all three is incredibly disappointing. Probably not a good idea. The mash alone is dry. Clearly this restaurant doesn’t have to try as it has very little competition. Waiting an age for my bill. Waitress not engaged at all. Cost after refusing service change the cost was £47.40 for two courses. Really not worth a visit

After a long drive to Ullapool, we searched around for a suitable restaurant in which to celebrate our wedding anniversary and chose Seaforth. The people seated at the tables in the window and outside were a great advertisement. We were very glad to be served even though it was after 2pm. Thank you for operating extended hours. I had Cullen Skink for the first time. The saucy soup was delicious but the potatoes were not fully cooked, which spoiled the experience, but at least showed that they cook meals to order. My dessert was described on the menu as Scottish Tablet cheesecake, but that was quite misleading. It was basic cheesecake, covered with fruit coulis on a plate drenched in chocolate sauce, with very few crumbs of tablet, which I had been looking forward to so much. The fellows who served us were obliging and the space was pleasant.

This restaurant is popular. I went at 6 pm on a Friday and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. This wait was getting longer for others as time went by. It is easy to see why. I had Sea bass followed by lemon tart and both were generous portions with beautiful presentation. This is a fish restaurant with an interesting selection of fish to choose from. I chose from the Specials board but there was a wide range of choice in the main menu which was not fish based, so something for everyone. Once seated, the service was reasonable given how busy they were. This was a good find on my way to the Western Isles.

Both of the dishes was tasty but both was quite small compering to similar restaurants in highlands which I visited so far. Prawns from special board was served only with chilli sauce which tasted like the one you can buy in Tesco and garlic sauce which I do not think was homemade. Sea bream was a main course but the size was like for fixed price lunch. In summary food was really nice but in my opinion It should be less expensive or the dish suppose to be bigger. If you really hungry I recommend to go to Geirloch or Kinlochewe where the sizes are decent and food similar.

Ten minutes later it occurred to me that the hadn’t a bottle chilled and were attempting to do so, so I suggested to the waitress that it would be better to have two of the small cold splits and around ten minutes later she seemed to agree with me that the waitstaff agreed and we were served the splits soon followed by excellent fish and chips.

I understand that this restaurant is under new ownership, so I was interested in revisiting it. I was pleased to find that things had improved significantly since my last visit.

The Seaforth is right beside the ferry terminal so it's handy if you're early for your crossing to Lewis. I was there early in November when most tourists have left so it was quiet and that meant I didn't have a long wait for my dinner. There isn't a full menu until 5.00pm but they serve a couple of options before then. I had fish and chips and a soft drink. The fish was lovely and fresh and the chips were good. The bar staff were friendly. It's a nice big pub and I'd return if I'm waiting on a ferry again.

Couldn't get a park at our first choice, so popped into Seaforth, what a lucky find, nice fresh food and friendly service at a reasonable price.

The Seaforth restaurant offers a large menu and a number of daily specials. Unfortunately my Butternut salad appeared to have none. The server checked with the kitchen for me. Turned out what I thought was thinly grated carrot was in fact butternut squash!! I had been expecting large chunks of it what with it being the main ingredient of the dish and all. I asked to speak to manager who was good in dealing with it. He apologised and deducted the salad price from the bill. He said he would speak to the chef, I do hope that he did that and they improve on what could be a very nice salad. My husband had the hake from the specials board which was very good as was the service we received. Do book ahead if going to Ullapool in season. We were there in September and still had a lengthy wait.

Visited the Seaforth bar , had a drink and sat down for food , not a great atmosphere , food very basic but expensive , sat with empty glasses , not even asked if we would like another drink , the blonde lady was nice but the guy didn’t have a lot to say , he didn’t look the type to be running a bar actually , sorry if I offend but I need to give my experience .

A perfect whole welcoming place to come to in a cold and wet end of October evening. Having a late summer or is it early winter weekend break in the west of Scotland. The weather wasn't on our side but walking in a warm and busy bar for some hot filling place is the most welcoming. The place was full but the staffs have plenty time to welcome you in. Food was hot and filling just perfect for a cold and wet evening.

I have had great fish and chips from the takeaway in the past but have to say unfortunately that wasn't the case on my most recent visit. It was a sunday afternoon with minimal staff so I'm not sure if it was a different cook /staff to normal but it was the worst tasting chips I have ever had. Ever. I hope this wss just a one off but I'm not sure I'll be going back again.

Visited for the first time today wanting to sample the fresh fish, as its by the fishing harbour ! I ordered Haddock and chips, my partner ordered Fish cakes with salad and chips. Friendly staff but quality of food very poor. Firstly my fish was a very small portion with hardly any batter, the chips were inedible as extremely hard ? ie far too crisp. My partners Fish cakes in tempura batter were so Over-done they were inedible too. Needless to say the chips too were inedible. This even put her off the salad, which actually looked quite nice. All in all - would not recommend here to eat. The price of each meal was about £14 each - not worth it at all. My partners chips were changed kindly by a lady, but the new ones were exactly the same ! she also gave us some money off her fish cakes she didn't eat ! which was nice. But i still would not recommend this eatery !!!

We had dinner here twice while we were in Ullapool. The food was well-prepared and tasty. Each of us had the steak pie for one night. I had fish and chips another night. They had many seafood specials. Service was very good.

Over priced. At the pier so convenient and when we arrived there were people out front sitting. Realised afterwards they had only been waiting there and not eating in the place. Staff were friendly but food was below par.

Expensive drinks the menu was pretty average verry surprised at the lack of sea food on the menu as this restraunt is on the west coast of Scotland and the harbour has many small fishing boats to provide. Its basically a overpriced weather spoons in the wrong part of the country.I would give it a swerve next time I’m back

I used to frequent the Seaforth a few times every year and back then it was a pub which sold food. It appears now to be just a restaurant with less of a welcoming pub atmosphere. We had fish pie which was actually very good, however the service was poor. Ok it was busy but the staff seemed to be split with the "older" members doing all the work and the "younger" ones either chatting to each other and ignoring patrons (I had to ask where do we sit a couple of times before being acknowledged) and then a nice lady with Glasgow? accent seated us.
