Found this hidden gem while on holiday booked a table for two arrived to a very busy restaurant staff very welcoming service was great and the food was absolutely delicious .

Quite a delightful restaurant, the young lad who entertained us was very warm and welcoming-even helped with the correct pronounciations of names of local places which I found very refreshing and most helpful! Food was as expected from a chinese restaurant - what I found very generous was their portion of rice which we ordered for 2 people and was more than enough for the 3 of us and we are rice people! I was reluctant coming in as it was our son who asked to have Chinese as he has never had it before but he ate well which I was very happy about even enjoyed their wonton soup so much he asked for a second helping!

Tasty food at an affordable price.

What a superb meal. The food was really tasty and the staff were very attentive but not over the top. Top marks go to the super cheerful head waitress, she made the night. The only downside was that the fortune 🥠 cookies did not have a warning "may contain paper message" Rob scoffed it in one and did not get his lucky message.. Thank you for a wonderful evening.. Got really fresh fried king prawns, tasty beef with rainbow sauce, and nicely seasoned seafood hor fun with squid, prawn, mussels. Super duper quick, hot and fresh service time, fantatstic since we were famished. Free prawn crackers. Friendly service, too. Very retro decor and downstairs seating- def would go again!

Thoroughly recommended! There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were accommodating to our needs and warm and friendly with a great welcome. The food was delicious; we had the set menu for two. We thouroughly enjoyed the experience 😀.

Had a lovely Takeaway from here the other day. All our meals were superb, the batter on the sweet and sour was lovely and light. The Chicken was succulant. The Sharing Platter of Prawn Toast, Crab Claws etc. was enjoyed by us all. Everything arrived hot, we ordered so much it was put in a suitable cardboard box. Our relative places our chosen dishes, and it was ready within 10-15 minutes. Mind you, it was the night of the England Slovakia Euro Football Match, so wasn't that busy anyway. Thankyou to the Staff for making our evening Takeaway so enjoyable. One of the best Chinnese Takeaways we've had in a long while. We will be back again in the future. 🙂

Ordered as holiday makers in the area wanting a takeaway, food was fresh, hot when unpacked and delicious. Can not fault but can highly recommend 👌

A lovely place to catchup with friends & family. They have a wide variety of options, including few Thai dishes. We ordered chicken, prawns and mussels cooked in different sauces along with a side of rice and noodles - everything was served hot and on-time. The food was not as spicy as I have tasted in other Chinese restaurants in London.

Absolutely best I’ve been in Cornwall. Food was absolutely delicious, even my wife being more of an Indian fan. And she was really impressed. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was fresh and piping hot. 10000% recommended to anyone. Well worth the 30 minute travel down. Will definitely be going back again. Good price aswell. All thumbs up our side

The worse ever service, the owner basically denied to be even placing an order by saying "later". This is unacceptable what so ever. I understand it's busy but to tell your clients who want to place an order "later", it's unacceptable. The servers passed the responsibility of placing an order to each other and when the owner came she said "later". Waited few minutes but there was no one to be taking an order. No wonder Cornwall has the reputation that it has.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK. The restaurant design was nice and the staff were friendly. The scallops were delicious and I would highly recommend. The other dishes I had were equally nice, although the portions weren’t as big as I hoped, but overall it was brilliant.

One of the best chinese restaurants I have been to in the UK. You have options for free street parking as well as pay and display nearby. Traditional Chinese ambience with good lighting. Apart from delicious food, something else that's worth mentioning is the service. The staff were friendly and lightning quick. Would definitely recommend.

We fancied an eat in Chinese and there are none in St Ives/ Carbis Bay where we live. We thought we try this place and what a great decision that was. Quaint little place with lots of character inside. The food was delicious from mixed starter to sizzling platter and sweet and sour chicken. Very fresh and piping hot. We will definitely be back.

I have been ordering takeaway from this Chinese for the last 2 years. Today I ordered salt and pepper chips, which I paid extra for, and they are literally chips with added salt and pepper. I was told if I eat in the restaurant I would get them with chilli and onions (normal salt and pepper chips) but for takeaway they only put a sprinkling of salt and pepper on the chips (for an extra cost) absolutely ridiculous! Also I spent £27 and you have to ask for prawn crackers and fortune cookies. BAD SERVICE. this needs improving.

Our 2nd visit to this restaurant n Penzance. Wonderful Chinese food, absolutely superb flavours. Only let down by being served luke warm so hence the 3 stars. If it got to us hot it would have been a 5 star review.

Phoned up a takeaway order. What was delivered was not what I had asked for. Wrong ribs, missing one item i specifically asked for the spicy chili tofu. Appreciate it was busy but we were relatively regular customers and had hoped for better service and response.

We chose the fixed menu and enjoyed each dish, even if the Bang Bang Chicken was a bit ‘non-standard’ but ok nonetheless. The place is a bit ‘traditional / sticky carpet’ but that wouldn’t put us off going again.

Whilst holidaying in Marazion, we ordered a takeaway and found the value for money and the food to be amazing. So much so that we ordered again on the last night of our holiday. Quality service, hot food, and very plentiful .

The best Chinese in Cornwall that I have tried by far! Used to eating Chinese food in central london and haven’t found a closer match in quality than Seapalace and the service is always amazing.

Great food, great service, great people all round. They managed to squeeze us in without a booking in the amazing space. The food was just what we needed at the end of a very long very wet day. The friendliness was the icing on the cake.

Today we went for dinner we are not from here we are from Cardiff we are in holiday we Oder food noodle with veg fries rice with veg tofu and fry mushroom food is very nice but noodle is very bland so I told the waitress then she gone to get owner she came then I told her she ask me is come like that but I told her there is no taste then she offer me spicy sauce but was useless anyway then they give to every table hand wipe and cookies they didn’t even bother us they forgot that we are not eating food for free we pay 35.60£ first I was thinking to give them a tip but they think we are Indian maybe that’s why not bother us I’m not happy with this kind of racist and treats I’m feeling really sad we just ask what we feel about our food and that is as we are customers we have right to ask .

The food was lovely, the staff were great and helpful and when you walk In the restaurant looks lovely, the reason my rating isn't higher is because we were seated down in the basement, it was hot and humid and smelt of damp/musty which wasnt very nice and a little off putting.

My first visit to this lovely restaurant & I was indeed impressed! Best Chinese meal I've had for a very long time. Chose one of the set menu's which was totally delicious. The staff were all great. Will definitely visit again 😋

I'm incredibly picky with Chinese due to limitations as a vegetarian but the food here is absolutely amazing! The staff are very efficient and they are incredibly kind. Normally in a Chinese restaurant you get 6 spring rolls in a very small size however here you get three spring rolls but massive size. Springrolls tastes really good, crispy and crunchy. The vegetable soup was really nice too however lacked a little in spice and flavours. The vegetable noodles was yummy but again lacked in spice. We ordered the spicy version but wasn't spicy enough. Parking can be a slight issue though. There's parking outside however normally it's full and no space to park. Overall the food was yummy just lacking in some spice that's all. I would definitely recommend though.

Food was great service very hit and miss. Premises were set down a side street and when you entered it had been themed to look like a Chinese street quite cool. Food was very tasty but we have a local Chinese restaurant by us here in Liverpool which makes the experience more customer friendly and cheaper. When the initial prawn crackers came out we got one little bowl for 5 which was my error as I didn't realise so I ordered more at which point a waitress who was sorting another table shot over to tell me the price of an extra portion - jeez thanks for that I was expecting to get meal for free! Just made it feel unnecessary uncomfortable. Then they forgot to bring them. For 5 with banquet for 2 and a few soups extra and 2 rounds of 2 bottles beer Nd 3 soft drinks £101 which they got that wrong so check your bill. Overall the rest of the staff were OK big shout out to the older English lady who was lovely and the young lad too.

Must admit I was rather disappointed with my meal. I ordered the following; Large Bang Bang Chicken 'Seemed to be fridge cold chicken with a spicy mayo which isn't what the dish should be like.' Chicken with pineapple 'My wife had this and remarked that the chicken was dry and not her cup of tea, with that in mind this dish she has eaten a lot from other places.' Roast Duck & Chicken Fried Rice 'Duck was okay but the chicken was dry and the rice was just a mess.' Char Siu Pork with Ginger & Spring Onions 'With this dish the pork was tough and tasteless and the sauce wasn't to my taste.' Overall can't say I will go back. When the best part is the prawn crackers something seems wrong.

Booked this restaurant as we were having a day out in the Scilly Isles and wanted somewhere right by the port.Decor is a bit bland but ice cold beer and delicious food soon made up for it. Service was good to start with but once it began to fill up, service became more hit and miss.Overall pretty good and worth the money.

The dishes were OK. Maybe we had high expectations because of their good ratings and were expecting fresh seafood.

Cos the food just doesn't match up. Had high hopes after reading positive reviews but left disappointed. Ordered duck pancakes and 4 main meals to share including 2 sechuan dishes as these are a favourite. The duck was over cooked to a point of dryness, when it should be both crispy and succulent. As for the main meals they were a mixture of blandness and basically totally incorrectly cooked, ingredients wise. If you can't cook sechuanese style please don't try. Just adding a bit more cheap chilly sauce to a dish to provide heat does not make it sechuaneze. There was not the tiniest hint of the hot and numbing flavours that the sechuanese peppercorn should provide in such dishes. As suggested in the title the attentiveness and friendliness of the lads serving was the only positive .

Very fresh piping hot food with good quality meat and prawns. Large potions and service with a smile. The Chinese lady who answered the phone was lovely too. All round very good. We are here on holiday so we are going to eat in later in the week so should be even better. Thanks.

Staying in Cornwall we decided to give the Sea Palace a try based on their wide selection of vegetarian dishes and I am so glad we did!The food was delicious with large portions and very fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. In addition to the fairly standard vegetable dishes offered by all Chinese restaurants, Sea Palace also offered extras such as battered tofu balls with sweet and sour sauce. It’s not rocket science but as a vegetarian it’s so so appreciated to be thought of, and my goodness they were good!The food was ready to collect in the stated time and still piping hot when I got home, the cost very reasonable. Thank you Sea Palace, I’ll look forward to a return visit.

If you do NOT do home delivery then say so right at the beginning nit at the very end. Complete waste of timw

Lovely food and friendly staff.

It's been quite sometimes since our visit to Sea Palace. Authentic as it is for it to be restaurant. Well, it was crowded when the time we arrived, staff are attentive and gently requested us to be patience for our turn. While waiting, they recommended the menu to us and took our orders. Well done!Overall, it turns out that the food we had ordered are still as tasty as before, no cutting in cost and reasonable to its price. Glad to be here again for the second time.

We ended up eating here for lack of another option (restaurants in Penzance get booked up early!) The food was just about edible I’d expect more for the price). The staff were mostly slow, uninterested teenagers. The decor would have been outdated 20years ago!

This was not a good experience The setting is unusual as it’s in a cellar, the staff were pleasant but need to pay attention to the orders given.The food was lukewarm at best and considering it arrived so quickly this was a worry also my order was wrong.The served dishes were tasteless the rice was gelatinous mass at sin tasteless

Visiting Cornwall because our holiday abroad was cancelled, and looking forward something other than fish and chips, we noticed the Sea Palace was open. I ordered Special Fried Rice and my husband Beef Ginger and Broccoli. We were brought a little dish with 6 prawn crackers. Well, about 5 minutes later our food arrived. Mine looked so underwhelming, with the tiniest shrimps ever, and slivers of chicken. My husband’s had spring onions instead of broccoli, which the staff said they would replace, but he declined. 25 minutes after arriving, we left, fastest meal ever.Plus points - no damp smell in the basementHot platesMinus points - food brought to the table so quickly after ordering, I hope we’re not illI think we must be spoiled with our Chinese food in the North-East, as special fried rice up there is packed with sliced meats and king prawns

This place is set in an old cellar of a warehouse or public house. Great service and real value for money. The meat is exceptional with no grissle. We had the Chinese curry, which wasn't too hot but had plenty of taste. There is a wide variety of traditional Cantonese cuisine to choose from. 5 stars plus from us!

Nice place. We went there twice, very good food. My girlfriend was disappointed of the noodles selection offered in the menu, so maybe avoid if you are crazy for noodles?

I have came to Cornwall to enjoy and meet some close friends. We decided to dined at Sea Palace restaurant which are highly recommended by my friends. We ordered a lot of food, the taste is good. we found that the environment offered is comfortable, as well as offered good services. seeing a few comments in the preview, i recalled the dinner that night with my friends from Penzance whereby we have ordered Bang Bang Chicken, it tasted great. it is to said that different places will have their own unique local cuisine. even if it may not to my satisfaction but i can't simply condemned it is poor. Doing business these days are challenging especially during COVID- 19 , we should be at least more understanding when giving our review. if we are not sure about the menu that we select, we can simply just ask for assistance and getting the chef recommendations. will definitely be back to Sea Palace again the next summer to taste the other delicious delicacy that it has.

Absolute class service, and properly nice food, nice experience to eat in or out

We were so lucky to have stumbled upon this place! The food was stunning and seasoned beautifully. Trying to please 3 kids isn't always easy but they all loved it. We didnt leave a grain of rice!! The service was fantastic and the meals came out really promptly.We highly recommend the Sea Palace! I would travel 7 hours back to Cornwall just for this again

From salad cream on chicken and lettuce to flavourless food it was inedible. Would not recommend this.

I don't know what happened with the previous reviewer, but when I went in for a meal yesterday, nothing like that happened to us. The service was top notch, honestly some of the best I've seen. It's not like the waiters know these cool tricks or whatever, they're just so friendly and down to earth. They don't treat you like mindless creatures who need some attention now and then, they treat you like people. You can tell they love their jobs, you can tell they're all smiling under their masks and they were very nice to us. We've been going here for our food since July and we've never had a problem.The waiters are indeed boys aged between 16 - 18 but that is not an issue whatsoever, it's refreshing to see some young waiters who enjoy their jobs and do great service. When I went down to the basement which is where the majority of the restaurant is, there was no bad smell at all, there wasn't really any smell like good or bad. The toilets were very clean and didn't smell bad at all. The staff were very attentive, they asked us a lot if everything was okay or if we need anything. I truly believe the last reviewer simply came in to cause trouble.Even the owners were very nice and the head chef Eric came down personally to greet everyone and check if everything is good. We love it here!

the first thing I will say is the food is good but the service is shocking they employ kids that really don't want to be there and I will agree with the last review it smelt like a mouldy cellar as did the toilets and good luck getting attention from the staff they don't care good luck to all who sail in her its my first visit and last and I'm a local

I was horrified to read the previous rude review and had to counter balance by saying the Service and food here is excellent and our favourite Asian restaurant; so much so we are planning on booking our end of season staff do here because the place has a lovely unique atmosphere and it is very accommodating.

This place came recommended - avoid, its a dirty mouldy cellar, now the food may be brilliant but we shall never know, we left without sitting down! As it looked like someone had pissed in the seat my wife was offered.

This chinese restaurant super nice and recormended for dinning in. Food are nice and reasonable price, the most important is workers are very friendly. Will come again

Not the first time visit Sea Palace. I love the environment, staffs are very friendly, and foods are absolutely fresh and delicious. Even take away is still taste good. Price for me is reasonable. Overall happy, good and high recommended =)

I spent £25 for a takeaway for two people which in my opinion is quite expensive. The chow meins all came with only 1/4 noodles which were really thin and the rest vegetables. The chicken balls were mush and hardly any chicken in them.... went straight in the bin. £6 wasted in our opinion. Sweet and sour sauce even had veg in it which I had never seen before. Wasn’t the worst Chinese but defiantly something we aren’t use to, wouldn’t eat again.

Criticism, if it is one, is we ordered a set menu for 5 people (there were 5 of us) and there was enough food for probably 8!! This may be a good thing :-)Set menu ‘A’ is great.. Take away food was absolutely excellent. Highly recommend.

Cantonese-owned Chinese restaurant - we sampled the takeaway menu and were blown away by its authenticity. Can personally recommend the 揚州炒飯, Singapore fried rice, beef mushroom and beef curry, but sure the tastiness extends across both (English and Chinese) menus

During the recent trying times we have all had to suffer, a touch of normal life is always a good thing. So we visited here for a takeout, it’s situated on a small side road near the weigh bridge in Penzance.Now by enlarge takeout restaurants don’t always warrant reviews, largely because they tend to have a fairly consistent customer base. However I believe that every restaurant what ever it’s genre is entitled to be noticed. Now this venue has been a regular haunt of ours mainly because they have a dedicated vegetarian menu were as most venues tend to bury their meagre vegetarian offerings in their standard menus, & they have been very accommodating for my wife who has very specific dietary needs. So when they announced that they were opening for takeout (using very strict safety measures) I was ecstatic & since, we have enjoyed a weekly slice of normal (I know so greedy Now whilst I didn’t order anything to exciting what I did, has been consistent & very tasty the Singapore Vermicelli noodles were loaded with aldente vegetables and they had left out the mushrooms and onions as I requested. I also ordered the Szechuan salt ‘n’ pepper chips, & you could be forgiven for thinking that these were mundane & boring, but you’d be wrong, I have tried them elsewhere and yes they can be a feeble attempt at trying to mess with the humble chip,and generally they fall very short of anything worthwhile commenting on. But these chips were fantastic still crisp but with the added seasoning were lifted from the humble chip. We also added Chinese curry sauce, heaven only knows why it’s different but it does add to a meal. Now you may wonder why someone would review as many takeouts as I do, well that’s because every restaurant, weather it’s a Michelin stared venue or a humble hidden away takeout, deserves to be shouted about weather good or bad & as you may know if a place is bad everyone shouts & if it’s good the shouting isn’t as loud.Well I recommend that if you’re in Penzance that you give the sea palace a go you won’t be disappointed, I haven’t been, Eric the chef patron is serving a slice of normal right now & it can lift the sprits. I think they’re only doing takeout just now but it’ll be worth it

We visited as a large party and were not disappointed the ambience of the venue is delightful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The drinks choices and prices are all very reasonable, in fact the value for money was excellent all round. Yes the decor is starting to look a little tired but the food and the atmospherics more than make up for this, I would definitely recommend the bang bang chicken and every person had plenty and all were very complimentary. Well worth a visit for some great Chinese food or I would suggest as a takeaway they would also be worth an order.

We are Singaporeans and we know what is quality Chinese food. The decor in this place may be gaudy but we value the quality of food more than ambience. The lady manager to our surprise was from Malaysia. The scallops were delicious and so was the sambal squid. Sambal is a spicy sauce familiar to Malaysians and Singaporeans. The aubergine/egg plant/brinjal(depending on which country you are from) with mince pork was as good as the one back home.

First time in Cornwall and was looking for dinner when we chanced upon this place. Service was great as they helped explained the menu to us. We picked the set menu. The food was served promptly and tasted delicious. The portions were also generous. For desserts, we chose Orange sorbet and Coconut supreme. Both were wonderful. Will be back again

Now as you are no doubt aware I like to champion the unsung venues, but I am also quick to chide if a restaurant fails to provide as good a quality & service as it can. The beginning of my last review for the sea palace, well credit where credit is due. The owner & chef from the sea palace read my review and contacted me conveying his apologies and offered to try and make it right. And they did, now whilst I appreciate that they were under no obligation, they couldn’t have been more professional and helpful when I went back I also got some food for my mother in law Chinese chicken curry and she said that it was very very tasty again with no onions or mushrooms. When she went to collect the order the chef came out and helped her to her car with the order & asked her to send us his regards. The little things that some venues do, can & do make all the difference and it’s safe to say that they have more than made up for their little slip, so it’s with a renewed confidence that I say don’t rule them out give them a try they really did go that extra mile.

Now as you are no doubt aware I like to champion the unsung venues, but I am also quick to chide if a restaurant fails to provide as good a quality & service as it can. To this end I have no alternative but to question the service that I received at the hands of a venue that I had previously praised for it’s food and service. Some weeks ago I ordered a takeout of vermicelli vegetarian noodles, salt & pepper chips & curry sauce, now my wife unfortunately suffers from an intolerance to wheat, & also can’t eat onions, Garlic or mushrooms, a little problem because two of them tend to feature heavily in Chinese food, but by enlarge we are able to ask for them to be excluded from our meal and the restaurant have been happy to help. So as I said I ordered the takeout asking them to leave out both the onions & mushrooms, & i was told this wasn’t a problem. The following morning my wife wasn’t very well & we couldn’t understand why, as I was doing our morning breakfast of refried Chinese ( a real treat I hasten to add) I found a huge chunk of spring onion, so clearly the restaurant front of house hadn’t been quite so insistent with the kitchen, unfortunately the resulting fallout was three days of painful cramping for my wife. Following a chat with my wife we decided that would after some time give them another chance, as you may recall I am mostly willing to give a restaurant an opportunity to correct their oversight, even the best places have off days so it’s important not to right them off quite so quickly. So I rang them and ordered the same & explained how my wife had been ill following our last takeout & the lady sounded a little embarrassed and ask if my wife was ok & I said well you can ask her as she will be collecting, & I once again asked her to please ensure that they didn’t put onions or mushrooms in our meal & again they assured me they would make sure.When my wife came home said they hadn’t spoken to her and the following morning I was again doing our refry & again I found spring onions in the noodles and once again my wife was subject to 3 days of stomach agony. Well you know what they say “fool me once shame on me, fool my twice shame on you” to say I was angry would be an understatement but ranting and raving would serve no purpose. So it is all I can do, to advise you to proceed with caution.

First time come penzance then search a chinese restaurant in google, got the sea palace. the food and service is lovely. RECOMMENDED

Has been travel to cornwall uk with family and have a great dinner in sea palace chinese. Those Asian Food endless aftertaste. Have the taste of hometown. They provided fresh and good service. Well done. Will come again on next spring holidays. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
