Sea Master in Reading

A late lunch delivered by Gabriel from Deliveroo. Saveloy, haddock and plenty of tasty chips. Great meal with some cans to drink

Best fish and chips in town hands down! I used to live nearby and even now we still travel here to make sure we have the most amazing tasting haddock and curry sauce around.

Don’t bother. I’ve used this chip shop for a number of years. But recently it seems to be going backwards. But last night was a new level. The photo is of what was seemingly a medium size cod. Well I would call them two large fish fingers. It was more like a kids or OAP special meal. Lesson learnt I’ll not be back.

Food fresh and tasty as always. Have been eating here a while now and the quality have never changed. Great food, long waiting times but tasty hot food

Best chippy in Reading, hands-down. I moved here from London in 2021 and have been trying different chippies over the years, this one outshines them all! Great prices, huge portions, cooked to perfection. I’ve ordered a few times on Deliveroo and it always gets here piping hot and yummy!

Visited last night. While waiting for my order two ladies were behind the till standing around doing nothing. The gentleman frying was running around cooking and cleaning the hot plate. While he was doing this the ladies did nothing but stand and slag their colleague off, not only for him to hear but also customers. Typical case of bullying in the workplace .... disgusting! Even though the gentleman frying could hear this he remained professional and cooked some lovely food.

The fish and chips were well presented, generous, beautifully cooked, very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Could not fault anything, delightful efficient staff and no waiting at all. Such a good experience.

Although cannot fault the food in anyway, this also didn't happen personally to me but to another family where they went to take their purchased food to the seating area inside (as raining outside) and was stopped and told, cannot sit to eat as you have to pay more to sit. I was appalled to be hearing this poor family turned away without any complaints, but this shouldn't have been the case as seating is provided and all advertised as seating available, there is nothing around to say you have to pay more to sit, I did approach the lady once the family had gone to where is states you have to pay more to sit, but was basically shrugged off. I just couldn't understand this and wonder if this has happened to any other customers 🤔? Very disappointing 😞

Manager sister Amy, the chef with curly hair and the other people in general have consistently given me double portions of fried chicken burger, chicken strips and chips food! Thank you! It’s been serving me well every time I feel! Raza :)

excellent food coked fresh while you wait, well worth it. Always busy the ti see I have been but its worth it. Good portions to.

Found out today we're not the only ones who happily travel miles to enjoy the excellent food here. Eat-in or takeaway, Sea Master enjoys a well-deserved busy trade. The service is always very good and a varied menu. Outstanding food and lovely staff.

My family have just enjoyed another wonderful time here.  We ordered jumbo sausage, chicken nuggets (made with whole chunks of breast meat) and pea fritter. Honestly these has been some of the best chip suppers we've had.  Seamaster delivers consistently high standards all the years we've been coming here. Very happy to be back 

Fish and chips in the park on a warm sunny day. Perfect. Also had some mushy peas. I brought along some mini bottles of white wine to drink.

By far the best chippy in Reading. . Hot tasty food. Nice staff. 5 stars. Would definitely recommend.

Great portion size and really tasty fish and chips! Very happy as had been looking for a good fish and chip place since moving to Reading! Staff so friendly too! Will definitely be returning!

Have been using Sea Master for our fish and chips for a couple of years now and have never been disappointed. During the current lockdown they are a god send. Yes you sometimes have to wait a little while for your order but it is well worth it. Fish always tasty with crispy batter and chips generally cooked fresh such is the turnover. Staff always pleasant and friendly. My wife and I generally have the senior cod and chips which is excellent value. We don't tend to eat anything else after eating this at lunchtime. There is also a sit in restaurant which is obviously not in use at present. We have other fish and chip shops closer to where we live but pass these to go to Sea Master.

Since lock down we'd been craving fish and chips so decided to give the Sea Master a try. I arrived just after opening and had to wait half an hour for my simple order. I should have been informed that there was a back log of telephone orders to be fulfilled before mine. Fortunately, the girl who served me wore disposable gloves but the other two assistants didn't none of the girls wore face masks which was disconcerting as one girl keep touching her face. So one piece of fish was warm but good the other was Luke warm fatty and tasteless. The chips were tepid, soggy, limp and of poor quality. Needless to say we were very disappointed.

In these troubled times, some takeaway fish and chips is a comfort. 3 Large Cod and Chips (curry sauce for the leftover chips tomorrow). Had a few minutes to wait for the cod as it was cooked fresh but boy was it worth it! My wife is a harsh critic as she is trained in catering but hers got demolished with relish. Was offered Mushy peas for free because of the wait - proper service. Second time we have had takeaway from Seamaster and it was as good as the first. Excellent and thoroughly recommend it.

We've bought our fish and chips here for years. The number of customers is high, so allow time to queue, but that's always a good sign of being popular. Good service and OAP discount!

en Lectura hoy para ver a mi tía de 91 años que llamamos a esta tienda / restaurante de pescado y papas fritas junto a Asda después de leer las reseñas en tripadviser.tuvimos una corta espera ya que el pescado y las patatas fritas estaban recién preparados absolutamente vale la pena esperar, fueron muy agradables.los 3 los disfrutamos mucho ¿Los compraría de nuevo? ? Sí, cuando estemos de vuelta en el nuevo año.buena comida la señora que sirve fue muy agradable y el lugar estaba muy limpio.

No es para llevar Fish and Chips, pero la esposa tuvo un día difícil en la peluquería, así que dijo que le apetecía un poco. Recordé que hace años utilizamos una tienda en el Recinto Meadway, así que fui allí. ¡La pista estaba en la cola! Notó que había cambiado su nombre pero aún tenía asientos para comer (¿la próxima vez?). 2 bacalaos grandes, una papas fritas grandes (más salsa de curry disimulada y pastel de pescado para mi brunch mañana?).Bueno, el pescado era enorme pero muy bien cocinado, no graso, perfecto rebozado y patatas fritas también delicioso. Bien impresionado y ahora está en el radar cada vez que el deseo golpea.

Tried this Fish and Chip shop for the first time and I won't be going back. Worst savaloys and sausage in batter. It seems the art of Fish and chips have long gone and the great British tradition has deteriorated over the last few years.

El personal es más que cortés. Todos están más que felices de poder ayudar de cualquier manera para hacer que los clientes estén lo más felices posible. Por ejemplo, me ofrecieron dos bacalaos medianos en lugar de uno grande para evitar que esperara diez minutos.La comida sabe increíble también. La mejor tienda de chips. La mejor salsa de curry que he tenido también ????

Want to sit in comfort and enjoy a fish and chip meal, look no further, good staff, good atmosphere.

I love this place. The staff are friendly and efficient and the fish and chips are great quality and freshly cooked. I eat the chips, OH eats the fish and chips. They are also open on a Sunday which is the best for a snack after exercise.

You pay expensive prices and you get small portion sizes and rude waitresses. One of the cooks takes their time in putting stuff in the fryer and you’re sat waiting for a small chips for about 10 minutes.

We go once a week for a sit down fish and chip meal, I can honestly say we have never been disappointed, the staff are friendly and good at what they do, the food is excellent quality and well cooked, the service is beyond reproach, I can honestly say I/we have never had better.

All fish is cooked fresh. Can lead to queues out the door at peak periods. recommend ordering over the phone and going straight to the head of the queue

Poor! Dry, burnt, stale. The single star is for the perfect portion of chips. I guess I just spent £15 on 2 portions of chips! I should have driven straight past...lesson learned.

Rang up at 9.40pm to check if they had anything; owner said he could keep me a fish and two chips. I was there within 5 mins and home again fast. The fish was absolutely stunning! It usually is, but at nearly 10pm, I wasn’t expecting to be raving about quality! Thank you Seamaster!

Table service when you eat in, excellent service when you order takeaway. Easily the best chips, fish, spring rolls in Reading. There are alot of chippies around, many of whom have ditched their previously high standards. Not here, it's consistently good, clean, friendly and good value. It's 3miles from my house and worth the journey. You must try this pla(i)ce.

In my opinion, it's the best chippy in Reading. Prices are good, portions are huge, and always very tasty. Very very rarely have I ever come across any bones in the fish.
