Kings Grill in Reading

Very bad experience. I had to ask for the chips to be done more than 3 times, they were dark and full of oil, after having a quick read online this means they are not changing the oil frequent enough. I would not use again.

Disgusting food with poor hygiene no gloves and rude staff talking foreign language and laugh while you stand and wait. They insist on cash and try to shortchange most horrible place in town AVOID!!!

The food is great but when you order on Deliveroo it takes 2 hours for the food arrive?!?! I cant understand how this is possible?

After a small inconvenience the restaurant replied to my review the same day and managed to resolve my issue especially one of the staff that was willing to help me even when the shop was closed i didn’t recall his name bit he was great help

i paid for 10 wings with fries and they gave me 9 wings with no fries wrapped it up nicely so i would realise till i got home tells u what kind of place this is

Food arrived cold Chips was very dry and soggy Kebab meat was under cooked and barley anything on there. Not worth 10.50 at all

Bad customer service, treated with condescending disrespect - guy didn’t stop saying derogatory things about me to the other staff member (while I was sat down eating 2 metres from them) incredibly rude & disrespectful, never be going back, food was lacklustre also. Male & female - toxic combo they are - small minded people. They need sunshine & Jesus probably.

I had a Doner kebab and chips,very nice flavour but expensive at £9.70,also it was a small serving compared to The Kebab Van at Hare Hatch. Addendum 2/06/22 The portion I had tonight was more the size of Hare Hatch. Addendum 28/10/24 The portion size presented to me tonight was unacceptable,I refused to accept it,after a discussion with the vendor,he increased the portion size to my satisfaction. The fodder is good,just watch how they portion your meal,I think I was served by the owner,an older short stocky chap.

Visited a few times during my lunch break. It's a lovely little place with delicious food. Tried the King's Lamb burger with the doner, and it was so delicious I went back the second time (quenched my craving for a burger and kebab at the same time)! 🤤 I would definitely recommend. Polite staff also. Thank you!

ordered from here a few days ago, the food is really good and fresh. the bread that came with the food aswell was really fresh and toasty. for the price the food portion was good aswell, will definitely order again

Normally good but I had a crispy chicken wrap and half way through spat out raw chicken - photos to show!!!! Never had this experience

I have been going here for years and every time the food is exceptional and the service is great one of the best kebab shops in Reading for sure.

I've never written a poor review, this is my first, and hopefully my last. Arrived late 25 minutes before closing, I could see they were closing up so I said sorry are you closed, they replied we have donner only, chicken lamb or mixed, I said OK I'll have mixed please and all the salad. They said we don't have salad, so I said I don't want it then thanks, one guy said don't worry I'll give you salad. They were semi rude also. Got home and it was cold, dry, no bread, barely any salad just a tiny bit, that's the worst stale kebab I've ever been given and I've had some bad ones. If you can't serve the premium say you're closed, don't charge full money for some yesterday's meat ready for the bin with a few scraps of salad.

Service zero don’t understand what you need and always miss same thing in take a way!! That 12,50£ for what !!!

Pulled in here on way back to work. Friendly guy behind the counter. With so much to choose from I finally decided on fried chicken wrap meal....wasn't dissappointed with my choice. Great tasting wrap with all the trimmings, salad, chillies, garlic and chilli sauce. The meal deal for £11 comes with a generous portion of freshly cooked chips and a refrigerated drink. My opinion..... value for money. Would definitely go there again.

Unfortunately I ordered from this place and got extremely sick after the chicken kebab. It clearly was cross contamination of raw meat. I would advise to never come here at all and stay away!

Have been there for a quick bite after arriving from London with the train. Took a lamb wrap, 7£ Food was delicious and really abundant. Owner nice and friendly. Will go there again and I suggest a visit if nearby.

The worst lamb doner i have ever had in my life, it was very light colour like soya and completely tasteless

Me and my partner have been getting Kings Grill for YEARS and it’s never failed us. We mainly get it as a takeaway option through Deliveroo but every time we’ve had it’s steamy hot and everything we’ve asked for. Their garlic sauce is so good, kebab is never overly greasy and the portion sizes are top notch!

I ordered a falafel wrap and a chicken donee wrap regular! Worth for the price. Taste was good! Chicken and falafel proportions was really good ! I would recommend this place. Staff’s behaviour was really friendly. Welcoming and warming behaviour 😊

Ordered a large chips and the portion size was ridiculously small. When questioned they assured me it was a large however when I ordered the same thing a few weeks ago the box and portion was twice the size. Will not be going back.

Good food at fair prices dished out in a nothing special takeaway interior. Service can be friendly or gruff depending on who happens to be there. The kebabs are always brilliant and reasonably priced. Being open late is a definite plus.

Horrific portion sizes!! £14.99 for a mixed kebab that looks like a small, would be the best kebab house in Reading If they worked on their portions, will not be ordering again

Judge for yourself. I paid £11:50 for a large lamb kebab. Meat was chewy and not great. They cut the bread down to just about cover the bottom of the tray, and even the salad seems to have been on ration. I asked for plenty of chillis and onion. I know that times are hard, but seriously?

This place used to be good, but seems that now they are trying to scrimp on the basics like salad and even the bread in my £11.50 large lamb kebab was cut in half and just about covered the tray. Meat was poor quality, chewy and more suited for a stew. Even the chilli and onions are rationed. It's a shame because 5 years ago this place was great. They messed up last month, but I gave them a second chance. Sorry guys, I won't be back again.

Our takeaway food was served in decent time, and hygienically. It was tasty, and a large portion. She even adjusted the heat of mine to be slightly less than my friend's.

I mean good food but the amount of garlic sauce they pour on it is a borderline war crime

this place is truly awful. very rude staff and the food is overpriced for what it is. wouldn't recommend going here unless you like dusty kebabs or if every other kebab shop in reading is closed.

I went here last night with my friends and was greeted in a very rude manner. I asked if they had ‘vegan’ cheesy chips which they soon laughed at and said what is vegan. Very expensive and very rude owners. Would not go again.

It's OK, better than most in town, it's easy for me to get to as it's on the east side of town, definitely go if you're in town.

Staff is not good and not good at their service. They will never ask you of any sauces to add and will give you only sheesh without any sauces which will not edible without sauces and if you ask them to add more than one sauce , they will start staring on you or else make you uncomfortable as if you asked something out of order .

Have been here a few times but not for a couple of years. Used to be really good, now the kebab, even with sauce, is the driest I've ever had with the meat bring bruised. Such a shame that it's got as bad as it is now.

Went to this place late at night and ordered barbecue chicken on a pita with a side of chips. They gave me barbecue chicken wings when I clearly specified twice what I wanted and even pointed to a picture. They reassured me it was what I ordered when it was clearly not.

I brought food from here last week and I was expecting a lot better,I ended up giving my food to the dog, complete waste of money, never again for me, must be drunk people giving good reviews, funny thing is my dog didn't even like it

suprisingly good mixed doner kebab in a wrap. I will come back for more. would be nice if the meat is not kept hot instead cut it down when ordered. But hey, we can have all...

Had two takeaways from here during my stay in Reading, about 9 days apart. It mightn’t be as stellar as it was a few years ago; but Kings Grill is still my favourite takeaway in Reading. They cook your food while you wait, and chat in a friendly manner, so it’s a human transaction which makes you want to go back. Real food cooked in real time by real people. The first time, I had a chicken doner on rice, with salad. Standard size, which, to my eyes, was large. £9.00. “Cash only,” said the boss apologetically. I shook my head at him sadly. He said, “Next time, have a shish, it’s our best thing, guaranteed.” Trying to make up for his obvious shame at saying “cash only”. (He knows, deep down, that if they want to be serious, it's time to accept cards.) But anyway, the food was absolutely delicious and filling. He remembered me the following week when I went back, and that I’d had a doner. Lovely guy. He won’t see this review, of course; but the fact I returned was review enough. This time they did me a shish. I watched it cook it on a skewer over a fire. We chatted about Turkey, which I’ve visited, and Turkish films, which I like. He said he was half Turkish, half Kurdish. His colleague this time was a student, here to improve his English, back soon to Ankara to continue his studies. And the shish was brilliant, of course. (Better, and a lower price, than one I had from La’De Express in the Market Place, which, to be fair, was decent enough.) Lovely rice, salad, sauces, etc. Filling. Much love to Kings Grill, as ever.

The management has changed and I don't think for the better! 1 person ordered his kebab but wanted everything separate, which wad done by a member of staff, for which he got shouted at by a small angry guy in front of a shop of about 6 customers. Maybe the customer had a reason for having his food this way. Next customer placed an order and went to pay by card, only to be chastised by said small angry man got having no cash. The only good thing was the chilli sauce has not changed!! But the sizes have.

Top bloke, gave me a drink for 20p off and the food was top tier. Big up kings grill

Late opening Halal food joint in the heart of Central Reading. Had a chicken wrap that was tasty & filling but nothing special. The space inside is limited & not too comfortable. Service was great & staff were truly nice. Would recommend it for a late night grilled food & doners.

Cold mixed doner wrap not fresh and poorly cooked fries. Very very disappointed I had to reheat the wrap and re-cook the fries in the oven. Not worth the expensive price! Poor options for sauce, not an authentic Turkish grill they just used a tortilla wrap. No Humous, no seasoning options to fries, their hot sauce was essentially just ketchup.. Very disappointed.

ordered a chicken wrap and chips , the chips were very stale and seemed as if they had been reheated and the chicken wrap seemed like it was the same way .. it was very hard to breath bites into my meal

East of town centre long-standing Kebab House. Fair priced, generous and tasty kebab with some of the best house chili sauce around. Serves pitta bread rather than fresh naan but the salad is crisp & fresh and the kebab authentic Turkish style (quite oily). Recommended post pub fayre; make sure you have a napkin or two.

Had a shish here and it was banging.

Had great potential but then left half of the meal out, because too many different people were dealing with our order. Which when called they did then deliver to us the missing food but didn't make it fresh, didn't seem to be that bothered...

It Smells good , It tastes even better, Great service.

So a kebab was delivered, nice enough meat. But with no salad….or sauce….or peppers?just meat? Really? Do you comprehend how wrong that is?

Hi i was on my holiday and i come to Kings Grill after shoping. I get my food very quick and i was very delicious. ;)

One of the worst experienced that I have ever had in my life so far because I was treated awfully by one your staff (but don’t know his name). If I describe him, he is a Turkish man with spike hair and his height about 5.6 or 7 ft. More to mention, he has no friendly manners as well as he was not being helpful at all. On that note I just want to add slightly information about incident time which was happened at roughly around 10:45pm. Frankly speaking I was totally new customer there to order my food which I was kind of struggling into it. I thought I could get help from him but it wasn’t expected as I thought. Instead, he gave me an impression of rudeness and harsh. Due to his bad behaviour, I felt so horrible at that time and made me feel like I have no other choices accept leaving restaurant with the empty handed. Well to be honest, my intention is not to damage your reputation of your business or neither demanding for firing him from his current post but just put you in request to educate him or give him a training about how to deal with customer with professional manners? Your cooperation would be highly appreciated. Many thanks

Small portions , customer serivce is really poor and really expensive

Highly dissapointed with the serivce, paid £25 for two kebabs which did not meet our expectations as to the portion and quality. When we contacted them, we were told that the portion is small because deliveroo ate it. Poor quality and an ever poorer service.

we had a chicken shish and a kofte kebab with one side of chips costing £26.28 and there was hardly any salad and very little meat - i can go to another shop pay 5.95 for a chicken shish and have so much salad and meat I cant even eat it all! Avoid at all costs! my boss has ordered regularly from here I said no more that is absolutely a rip off

Good selection of salad with Kebab. Kebab is less greasy than other kebab shops in the town. Good selection of sides and meal deals as well. Only downside is that they accept only cash. If you have to pay using debit/credit cards, you need to order via just-eat or deliveroo which will cost more.

Avoid - How is a meal not acceptable after 11pm You have to buy everything separate absolute rubbish service paid extra for lettuce , complete Nonsense AVOID OH SORRY WE DONT TAKE CARD CASH only HMMM MAKES YOU THINK ENJOY THERE COVID SAUCE!

Best Kebab in Reading Town Centre by far. Good value for money! Portion sizes are good & the service is great! Mustafa went about an beyond with his service! I also recommend trying their Chocolate Cake it’s lovely! Great place to grab a bite after a night out, but also a quick lunch or dinner option.

Driver couldn't find the address but didn’t even call to let me know. I called the restaurant after waiting an hour and a half and was given the drivers phone number and told to call him and ask him where it was. Food arrived cold and the chicken kebab was tougher than a sailers work boots. First and last time I go here.

This place is a little gem, great tasty food cooked on the bbq.

Cold kebabs are not the one. Cash only in a pandemic is a bit dodge too. Don't eat here, it's veryyyy average
