A lovely vegan & vegetarian cafe. I received a warm welcome when I walked through the door. The menu had a wide range of choice, including full breakfasts and toasties. There is a specials board that had a good choice too. I chose the soup off the board and it was tasty and plentiful. I had a look at the vegan cakes, again there was a lot of choice. I went for the brownie, and just like the soup, it was delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely eat here again next time I’m in South Shields.

Love this cafe and what it stands for helping adults with Autism and disabilities get into work and teach them skills. The food is great and the staff are very friendly and happy to be there.

Great little cafe with great values. We had the toasties and they were just fab. Service was so friendly and efficient. Would defo go back and try more of the menu.

It's all vegan menu.. the chickpea curry was great. The cafe is run by people with learning and other disabilities - autistic and dwarfism etc. Nice decor and a relaxed feeling, great community spirit within the cafe.

Went for Breakfast on Sunday morning, just about first in through the door, ordered the vegan breakfast. I have not had an "egg" for 4 years. They did a poached "egg" which looked like a real egg. I asked the staff what was in it, she kindly popped out the back and found out what ingredients were in it... Lovely atmosphere in the cafe, nice to be in an ethical, community based and supportive cafe

This was my first visit to Sea Change and it was excellent. The cafe is very welcoming and comfortable, but what makes this place so good is the staff. They are friendly, attentive and really make this place feel special.

This was my 1st visit after hearing great things from colleagues. The menu looked great. We had cake and coffee and it was all very tasty. Staff were welcoming and there were more seating options than I thought there would be. Will be going back

The cafe is a lovely and comfortable to sit in to have your meal. All staff are lovely and respectful. All the staff are king and they are showing good customer service .all food and drinks were very nice. I would recommend all my family's and friends to come to this cafe.

Great vegan and vegetarian cafe. The vegan saveloy dip was delicious. The staff are all very friendly and helpful making for a very welcoming environment. They hire people with autism and learning difficulties and are dog friendly. What more could you ask for?

Food isn't great. Its okay in a pinch, being vegan there isn't a lot of places to choose from when you don't have time to cook, its super overpriced compared to a vegan cafe I go to in Sunderland and the food is much lower quality. The consistency of the food is terrible, I bought the same thing I had before and it was inedible due to how spicy it was, despite nothing in the description saying it was spicy. For this reason I won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone sadly.

A lovely little coffee shop! Very nicely made coffee and the food was off the charts! I had poached eggs on sourebread and it was definitely one of the best I've had in a while!

Not totally vegan/vegetarian myself, but places I can go to eat healthy seem to be few and far between. The food and service were excellent and spot on for my dietary needs. And they even have board games and books! We will definitely be back.

Nice food but as a person with allergies they should at least check what drinks There staff are handing out for a vegan vegetarian diner they should at least take there costumers needs into consideration

Visited towards the end of meal service however was not rushed and food came out in a timely manner. The food was great and the menu very varied. The service was friendly ,effecient and polite. We stayed afterwards for a cocktail which was a nice finish to the evening.

Stopped here for a cup of tea yesterday and decided to come back today, Sunday , to try the food. I’m not a veggie or a vegan but I thought I would give it a try. Once again I had the dog with me and the staff were very, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Despite having the dog I could sit inside and he was spoilt by the staff with dog treats and a big bowl of water. As it was sunder there was a set menu, chose 1,2 or three courses. I opted for the soup starter and it was a good choice, huge bowl of steaming hot well seasoned veggie soup accompanied by toasted wholemeal bread. It was delicious and a very generous portion. I followed that with the vegan steak & ale pie. This came with mashed and toast potato as well as well cooked fresh vegetables. Veg was perfect for me still had a bit of firmness to it and the mash was very smooth and creamy. If I was to be hyper critical the only weak link was the vegan Yorkshire punning. A bit stodgy and cake like I’m texture but I couldn’t fault the taste. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Was very reasonable price wise, I had two courses and a beer and the bill was just over £17.

8th June 2023. Nice place and nice food, while waiting for drinks the staff always talking over the drinks already made on tray, not good, lattes always just luke warm and have to take them back to be reheated.

Brilliant cafe, serving excellent vegan and vegetarian food. We stopped for lunch looking for somewhere a little away from the madding crowd of the sea front. Food and service and ambience ere spot on.

Everytime we visit Shields this is our go to place to eat. The food is great, lots of choice. Staff friendly and professional and we love the ambience of this little cafe/ restaurant. Wish we lived nearer (we'd be there every day!).

Genuinely the best place I’ve ever been to get something to eat! The staff were absolutely lovely , my vegan bombay cheesas was unreal, my vegan biscoff frappe was sensational, atmosphere was absolutely lush too. There is a vegan option for pretty much everything on the menu too! Me and one of the staff even had a bit of a chat about art since we’re both artists! Couldn’t recommend this place enough seriously:))

A social enterprise where I'd gladly have paid more. The atmosphere was the highlight - a perfect blend of unobtrusive and genuine welcome, the right music there for when you wanted to listen between conversation, and quirky décor that wasn't trying to hard either. The range of choice on food was dizzying, which for a veggie who enjoys vegan was a treat. I wish I had an equivalent to Sea Change near me in central Birmingham. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Nice and very clean place with friendly staff. Only popped in for a coffee and it was nice, will be back at some point to try some of the food on offer.

Visited for lunch. Great place! The food was lovely. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Board games are available! My son and son in law played chess. Love the whole concept of this cafe. We will definitely be back!

Please tell me you lot are taking the royal piss charging £6.60 to £7.15 for a jacket potato with 1 filling on just eat.. you lot wear ski masks whilst you work, I'll stick to making my own jacket potatoes thanks, be 100 times better than yours I guarantee as are my fillings, also 100 times cheaper.. anyone who pays this lot that kind of money for a jacket potato I suggest you seek medical help.. rip off merchants

What a lovely little cafe. Menu was brilliant, loads of choice. We have 2 fussy children and they loved it. Staff smiling and helpful. Really quality place.

Really enjoyed our visit here. We explained what we wanted and got exactly what we requested by a very helpful gentleman. A member of staff explained how the restaurant worked and who were employed. All very helpful and I purchased a painting by a local artist and will definitely visit again and encourage others to try this restaurant. We'll done to you all.

Brilliant cafe, my food was all lovely and it was a great cup of coffee. N's veggie breakfast was good, the black pudding was undistinguishable from the non veggie version and should be applauded but the sausages were not to our taste. This is definitely one that will get our support when we're out and about.

Fantastic atmosphere, great 'cheesa' toasties (with onion bhaji - yum!) and a really powerful mission statement to create a unique place to enjoy food and drinks and conversation in the area. Great playlist too (love Paul Simon's Kodachrome and hadn't heard it for years!)

Great attentive service! The coffee was great, I had a vegan biscoff frappe and it came with vegan cream which was a huge treat! The food was also great, me and my partner had the veggie and vegan full English. He loved the runny egg and halloumi and my favourite part was the sausages and scrambled tofu. I will defiantly be coming for brunch again and maybe for a few drinks because their beer selection looked amazing!

Best breakfast in shields, really worth a visit!

Lovely place to sit in. The coffees are always lovely and so was the mango, pineapple and orange smoothie. Great prices for food and drink, the staff were friendly and we would definitely visit again.

Amazing little vegan and vegetarian cafe in the middle of ocean Road. Warm and friendly atmosphere and the food was so tasty Only downside was that I was so full after my meal that I didn't have room for a dessert. Will definitely be visiting again. A lovely, calm atmosphere ... chilled and relaxed. The vegetarian and vegan menu gave a varied selection of snacks and main courses. The vegan lasagne with garlic bread and side salad was very moreish. I would recommend Sea Change to anyone who wants to take a break from their busy lives.

This has out of nowhere because my favourite cafe in shields. The chef really does know how to cook food and has opened my world up to how good food can be without meat. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian but am looking into the possibility and the fact food can be this nice without meat is something I was ignorant on. The wait staff are fantastic and friendly and most of all the place has a nice atmosphere and chill feel. Amazing for solo diners like myself and would recommend every one give it a try.

Best vegan breakfast in the area! Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We will be returning and recommending to others. Great place if you have dogs with you and want to sit indoors to eat.

Great place lots of choice for vegan and vegetarian food to choose from

Fantastic to find vegan food in such a relaxed, cosy, stylish setting in South Shields. My girlfriend is also coeliac and she was over the moon to be able to have a cheese toastie. Staff were attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the whole experience and ethos of the cafe. Also picked up some delicious wines and beers to try at home. Recommended.

Hubby and I popped in for a look see. Hubby was impressed by the several different cans of lager plus bottles of lager, amongst the guest lagers on draught. This bar cafe is not for the people who want to shout argument or talk so loudly they don't need a mobile. This cafe/ bar is different as is the staff members, if you venture to attend, your amongst parents, professionals and former students, some whom, now work in SEA CHANGE. Peaceful, friendly, genuine change from your typical cafe/bar. The aim is to enjoy, the service from individuals who strive to make your attendance a experience that is never forgotten . Respect for each other is mandatory when entering Sea Change! It's akin to a moment when you realise you're still smiling, it truly feels good.

Lovely Vegetarian Saveloy dip - first time I tried it! Chocolate Fudge cake was warmed with a pot of cold cream - so lush. Mochas were really chocolatey too which is just how we like them. Service was friendly also. Definitely going to visit them again.

One of my favorite places to eat and drink. The cheesa and mezzes are my fav. Lush coffee too! Lovely ambience, and the concept behind Sea Change is incredible. Supporting adults with autism and learning difficulties to gain real life work experience. They've recently launched a craft beer club and sell craft beer's/ciders- draught & cans/bottles (available to order and takeaway). Lots of rare ones to choose fromm Definitely worth a visit (still open for takeaway in Covid times)

Local cafe staffed by special education/Autistic teens. Really friendly staff, great range of food, coffee is lush🍵, lovely little place well worth a visit. Most importantly (Dog friendly too) 🐶 🐾 and they have a lovely little play area for your little ones.

I really like the ethos of Sea Change and the empowerment it gives to its team. The food is really nice and there's a broad range of choices. It sometimes has irregular opening hours, but do make the effort to go.
