Kuzey Turkish and Mediterranean Restaurant, in South Tyneside

Been for the first time tonight, for my grandson's 18th, not only was the food amazing, but the staff were fantastic the young lad who greeted us when we went in was so friendly and helpful so much I had to mention it to the owner can't wait for another family meal 😀

We have been visiting this restaurant to celebrate family birthdays and enjoyed every one of our visits however on our last visit in June something was missing. The food was still good but the atmosphere had changed tremendously there had been major staff changes and the sparkle has now gone which is unfortunate. Nothing now different from any of the other Turkish eateries in the area.

First time at Kuzey. What took us so long. Best Turkish restaurant in the North East. Manager is a fantastically nice guy, so hospitable and friendly. We had the falafel and hummus and the kisir, for starters, both were delicious, served with fresh bread. Then for mains we had the lamb ribs and the chicken Shish, both served with pilaf rice and very fresh salad, all fantastic. All washed down with draught Efes. This will become a regular night out. Thanks for a great night.

Perfect meal. We've turned in without booking on Thursday night and we're seated straight away. Although there were few big parties already there, our starter has arrived very quickly. We were told that we might wait for the mains a little bit, but we didn't have to wait long. Service is excellent.

Friendly welcome and quickly directed to our seats. Food was excellent, large plates of Turkish meals. Very reasonable, complementary range of starter free. A 10% discount was offered if paid in cash.

I went with my family for a great dinner on Saturday night. The food was exceptional and fresh. The pricing was great value for the huge plate of food. The staff were great and friendly. A great place and we will be going back

Amazing food and fast delivery

This was the tastiest takeaway we’ve had in a very long time. Chicken and lamb was amazing and really good portion sizes even the salad was tasty! First time we’ve ordered from here but will be back!

Have been to Kuzey twice recently, first as a party of two, we popped in just to try the place, shared 4 starters and 2 drinks - an apple tea and a Turkish offer, which are both delicious and walked down the park with a takeout bakalava, service and food were both fantastic. Then having recommended it to a mate we came for her birthday a few days later and it was a roaring success, we were about 8 people, everyone thoroughly enjoyed everything they had, including our groups vegetarian :) Staff are lovely and hilarious, helped us talk photos and joked with us, combined with amazing food and the great atmosphere - I'd deffo recommend it for anyone wanting an authentic taste of Turkish food Can recommend most all of the starters, the kuzey mixed grill was had by three and all three complimented it highly, and definately the lamb iskender which was accompanied by beautiful thick suzmi Turkish yoghurt, a new favourite of mine - Thanks Ramazan (sorry if I've spelt it wrong!) And ofc the bakalava!!! Deffo worth a try

Refreshingly great spot. Popped in to order a take away. Lovely couple of young staff and the restaurant looked great. Ordered chicken dishes, one lamb and a couple of starters. Everything was top notch. Great fresh salads, lovely sauces, well cooked rice and quality meats. So often the meats let places down. Not here. Excellent quality and beautifully cooked. AND very generous portions. We will be back within the week for another visit. Tried most of the Turkish restaurants in the north east and delighted that we’ve got such a brilliant one in South Shields. You could pop in order and then grab a drink at the Marine while you wait. Highly recommended.

Having never had authentic Turkish food before I was really happy with what we had, the hot platter was amazing & the mixed grilled meat with rice was excellent (the lamb chops were sublime). Will without a doubt be returning and bringing more people!

Absolutely delicious and surprisingly authentic. Meat is super tender and flavourful. Wish they had dips with it that’s all.

Ordered food tonight and part of the order was incorrect (ordered no mushrooms on a wrap) called up and within a very short space of time the driver returned with a new correct fresh order, thank you, mistakes happen it’s how you correct them that is important) these guys resolved very quickly and with sincere apologies. My wife and I came across this place on a Saturday evening in a recent trip to South Shields from Bradford. We were met with a very friendly smile, and showed to our table. The staff could not do enough for us. You could also tell they enjoyed working there which was so nice to see. The sharing starter came out first, in very good time. It looked and tasted absolutely incredible. I would definitely recommend it. The price was very reasonable too for what we got! The main courses were equally as enjoyable. I got the mixed grill and my wife got a mixed shish. These too were so tasty and fresh. Again everything came out in very good time. The atmosphere was so nice and relaxed, the background music was good, and on a street where the majority is curry houses (which we see alot of in Bradford!) It was nice to see a unique restaurant! We payed in cash and got 10% off the bill for the effort, which they offer to every customer who pays this way, which also helps them avoid hefty fees from banks which we are all for! We'd definitely visit again if in the area and would recommend to anyone! The food was so tasty we forgot to take photos!!

Lovely food. (If you like meat, I highly recommend the lamb chops) Well priced. (They kept the prices the same, even on Valentines night) And the staff are so helpful and friendly. A great place to eat.

Me & my friend came here on a Sunday afternoon. Restaurant is beautiful inside. We shred a starter then had a main each. Food was beautiful & staff were lovely & friendly.

Fabulous. We had no trouble booking in for a large party same day, and I really don't understand why this place isn't much busier. Seems a really different kind of menu for the area -- tucked among curries and takeaways. Everything was super fresh, pacing of the courses was spot on, drinks never empty. Chicken shish was delicious, especially paired with the cucumber garlic yogurt dip. Wish I'd thought to ask for that for the falafel because I know that would have complemented those so well. Owner is very involved and hands on, incredibly personable and sweet to the children in our party.... Even brought out dessert with a candle for the bairns birthday. Highly recommend this restaurant. Also gives a cash discount! Love that!

Visited 22nd Dec, hadn't been to this restaurant for a while. The restaurant is very relaxing, clean, nice decor. Starters were tasty and generous. Mains were delicious, I had chicken and the other half had lamb, the meat was cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed our visit, will return.

Shared a hot platter with my wife. Beautiful food. Served with three of everything. I have prong marks in the back of my hand when we were fighting for the food. Had moussaka for my main course. Enormous portion. Made a special effort to finish it. Can’t wait to go back!

Expensive , ordered mixed kebab, was 4 pieces of chicken that were very dry , 2pieces of lamb , they were nice , rice accompaniment was bland , salad accompaniment was nice but tiny amount, £14 … paid extra for Turkish Bread £2 and garlic sauce £1 , they were ok

Fantastic service and great food. We were a party of 5 plus a baby in a pushchair absolutely soaked through after the Great North Run looking for a place to shelter from the rain and wait for the Metro to reopen. The staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful even when we literally left pools of water on their floor! The food was excellent as well - both tasty and very generous proportions ! Thank you to all the staff for being so good and for letting our bedraggled party in out of the rain - you were amazing !

Overcooked Lamb Chop which was burnt, dry chicken and lamb as overcooked also, a lot of this was unfortunately inedible, salad was nice and fresh and tasty though

The team were so hospitable to us after my cousin and her friend had completed the great North Run. The food was fantastic and they didn’t kick us out although we stayed well after they were supposed to close due to the roads being gridlocked and the metro being flooded. I can’t say enough good things about their customer service and their food - would highly recommend 😁

First time here tonight, as a table of 4. Food was absolutely top tier, really nice grilled meat good quality , great price in my opinion for all the food we got. Service was fantastic too from all the staff , we will definitely return on a regular basis

I first visited Ocean Road almost 50 years ago. It was famous for Indian restaurants. My favourite Bengal has long gone and over the years there have been many here today gone tomorrow restaurants. Some good, many awful. Casta was recommended this Middle Eastern restaurant so six of us went. Two x two person starters( one hot and one cold) were very good and filling. Thus the mains though good were far too much! We needed doggie bags. We also got a cash discount. All in all very good but I still miss my old favourite.

Have been in to Kuzey both as a couple and a family. The staff have always been friendly, professional and courteous. The food has always been of the highest quality and if there was a criticism, too much to eat but they always offer to box it up and you can take it with you. An excellent meal at a great price in excellent surroundings. Highly recommended.

Another fabulous visit to the Kuzey. 4 of us for my son's 21st birthday. The food was fantastic as usual (love those lamb ribs). The service wàs brilliant, staff wonderful and the guy who runs it is a true gentleman. Thank you we will definitely be back again.

Exceptional Turkish food. We often visit Turkish restaurants but this has to be one of the best! We had the meat platter and mixed grill. Friendly and attentive staff but not overbearing. Will definitely be back!

Fast collection, friendly staff, food was warm but the Moussaka was a big let down - very bland sadly. Falafel was alright, the filo parcels were nice, and the baklava was very tasty. For £35 I’d hoped it would’ve been nicer and perhaps their grill and meat options are tastier than the Moussaka.

We visited this restaurant on the 28.04.23 and found the staff very pleasant we ordered two starters the beetroot and the sausage which were very good and for our main meals we ordered moussaka which was one of the best’s we have ever had and a Adana kebab with chip,which was also very good,we also thought that the price we paid for our meal was not enough for the portion size we ate,we thought that the chips that came with the moussaka we’re not needed and maybe some nice vegetables would suit the dish better instead of chips,and one strip of kebab meat was enough with chips for the price we paid having said this we couldn’t fault anything well done for giving us a pleasant meal

A fabulous night out with our friends, spent in an amazing restaurant. Delicous food and first class service as always. My personal favourite is a nice cold Effes and a plate of chicken shish , absolutely delicious. Can't wait to return.

I often visit this restaurant as it offers a huge array of authentic Turkish food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I visited with my husband and friends and as ever we were blown away by the high quality food, which was cooked to perfection as always. I always get the chicken shish, which is freshly cooked to order, served with fresh salad and chick pea rice. All complemented by delicious Effes beer and some feshly made dips. I can't wait to return soon

Had many meals from Kuzey which have been very tasty which is why I kept coming back. However I found the felafel rather tasteless and the mains very average. For the price it wasn't really worth it.

First time here and we will be back. All of the staff were friendly, helpful, polite and kind. Food was amazing. We did a platter for two with a hot starter. Absolutely fabulous and I recommend the pomegranate tea, too. Absolutely will be back.
