Scotts pie and mash should be rated the best in London in my opinion everything I bang on from the shops to the food I've been to a few others and they don't come close I've read dome stupid reviews on here saying awful well the are rival reviews no1 for me

This has to be one of the worst tasting pie & mash I have ever eaten. The bottom of the pie was undercooked but the top cooked. The mince was a weird grey colour with a powdery taste. The liquor was however nice and the stewed Eeles were also nice. I would not recommend ever going here I will stick to Cockney’s Of Bromley or my personal favourite Harringtons Pie & Mash in Tooting

It’s a pie and mash shop so what to have double double. I was whisked back to my childhood of the weekly treat trip to the pie and mash. If you after the traditional taste of an East London meal you will be rewarded. Friendly quick service the original fast food. There were a few locals in chatting to the staff giving a real community feel. I will be back.

Visited Scott's (Orpington Town Centre) today for a 'pie n mash' catch up with an old college mate (which we used to do some 28 years ago). Hadn't been to this particular place before but really impressed at the portion sizes, friendliness of the staff and quality of the food. Will visit again soon. Keep up the good work.

The pie’s being sold here have hardly any meat in them. This was a very good pie and mash shop up to recently. They have also cut down on the amount of liquor and mash you get served. Please put up the price and serve a proper meal as before rather than cutting corners. That way we will carry on being customers

I go regularly as it’s the best pie n mash around this area i believe, I’ve been to a few . Never disappointed

Visited Cotmamdene Scott’s. Received a warm welcome. Nice clean table by the window. Excellent Pie and Mash. Thick crusty top on robust pies. Very well seasoned finely minced beef with a light gravy. Liquor was thick and had a deep parsley flavour. Great consistency and well seasoned mash. Highly recommended local pie and mash for those familiar with central London top eateries. Authentic and deserving of the very highly rated reviews. Thank you Scott’s.

When I used to live in Orpington back until 2004, I missed it that much that when I went back to see family… I needed to go to my favourite childhood place. It hasn’t changed a bit! Everything still tastes the same. Just felt like it was back in the good old days. Customer service was and always has been spot on. So glad to see this place is still going. Thank you so much! No pie and mash will ever beat Scott’s ❤️

Customer service is the best I’ve had in a long time! Staff was so polite and helpful. Now the food… was absolutely delicious, everything cooked to perfection. Can not rave about this restaurant enough 5* all round.

Because of covid it had been a year since I was able to have pie & mash. I finally was able to come over from Belgium and decided to give scott’s pie & mash a visit this time. It didn’t dissapoint and tasted like heaven.

Worst pie and mash I have ever eaten. Mince in the pies was unseasoned and the liquor was like wallpaper paste. Never again

I have been all over London sampling Pie 'n' Mash over the years. This is as good as it gets. When I have eaten in, the staff are really friendly. So throughout the lockdown tried the delivery service and now get it delivered on a Saturday afternoon,the takeaway service has been perfect too. Hats off to them. Proper Pie 'n' Mash..

Excellent pie and mash in both shops. We have been using them for years and we just love it..... they are always friendly and the shops are always clean.

WENT FOR LUNCH WITH SOME FRIENDS ON A WEEKDAY LUNCH TIME. THERE IS PLENTY OF SEATS AND HIGH CHAIRS FOR THOSE WITH TODDLERS. THE Food is basic and bland The pie was ok the mash ok but the liquor was not good at all. it was tepid and tasteless. would not return again

always great food take away or eat in. Always service with a smile at all times and plenty of choice for those who are not aficionados of this great traditional meal. The eels are always fresh as well.

The only way to eat this is ask for a double-double. or if you only have a small stomach then just a single, but it really is worth a visit, in fact it's a must. super.

where do i start, the food is slopped on your plate with a dirty wood spoon like a medieval knock-in shop, the customer toilet has a sign on it which reads "not for customer use" which there should be by law because the restaurant has over ten seats. (Section 20 of the 1976 Local Government Miscellaneous Provisions Act) your not allowed to put your own sugar in your tea in-case you put in too much when i was sat there i saw a customer go behind the bloody counter with a fag hanging out her mouth looking for a light, which she then she then lit up before going outside with out being stopped by the staff. i know its a pie and mash shop and not a 2 star restaurant but come on!

What a find! Delighted to find a piece of East End history has made it’s way to the Kent border. Pie and Mash, plus other favourites such as Stewed and Jellied Eels - great service and prices - unsurprisingly it was busy. I’ll be returning....

Lovely place, old fashioned, local staff and so very friendly. I have been coming here for years and also use the take away service as my wider family love the treat of Pie and Mash, so I take it to them if they can't get to the shop

This place in terms of the pies, mash, licker......has always been on point.Single pie, mash and licker haha £4.70.Can't go wrong with that, in tge middle of Orpington high street, parking spots round the back (in the walnuts car park).Family run, very friendly and the food is consistently good.Cant go wrong here.

judging by other reviews maybe I just went on a bad day. having eaten pie and mash in every part of London over 50 years the first thing I would say is this is not a pie and mash shop in the traditional sense. it's a cafe that sells pie and mash as well as breakfast sausage and mash and all the other bits. The staff are friendly and the place was clean but the pie a d mash was poor tbf. doughy pies too thick liquor and the vinager far too strong. it was warm and not hot. After I left I felt sick and had a bad after taste left in my mouth from the vinegar. All in all not a good experience. unfortunately I can't recommend and won't visit again.

Didnt order much just egg sausage and beans. And a cup of tea Staff were friendly enough . Have had better sausages but it was ok. Didnt wait long.

Have been here a couple of times now,as we were visiting my sister and family we stopped in for a takeaway of pie’s mash and liquor as ever brilliant top class grub. We both enjoyed our meal and will go again. Great. This is the other shop not 51 The Walnuts.

Pie and mash and liquor seems to be a favorite in england. My partner loooves it !!! I don’t so I have the baked Patato when I am there ! Really funky shop and gives you what you come in for.

Consistenly good food - yes, it's not a high-end venue - but you get exactly what you expect and it's got a good menu range for those not wanting P,M & L!

For me it was 9 out of 10 for the pie and mash, whilst not the best I've ever had it was very good. They also do a lot of other foods to eat in or take away. They have also tried fairly successfully to reproduce the atmosphere of the old Pie and Mash shops of 60 years ago, with the tile walls and floor, the table tops are no longer marble type slab stone but Formica with a marble effect finish. Prices reasonable. Overall very good

Been here a few times and found it to be on par with the old school London P&M; gaffs ! Best place to eat in the ever changing Walnuts centre, forget the pizza n coffee joints !

We called in here on the spur of the moment. It was pretty busy with most tables occupied which is usually a good sign. The counter service was quick and my other half enjoyed the pie, mash and liquor. My sausage sandwich was also good. Now for the "BUT". . .the tea mugs were disgusting! I know this place has recently received a 5* rating from "Scores On The Doors" but something is wrong with the hygiene of the china. My mug had assorted shades of brown dribbles down the sides and something yellow like congealed egg welded in the middle of the front of the mug. My other half's mug wasn't quite so grubby but it still looked dribbly as though it could do with a good scrubbing. I know these were not spills that happened as our teas were poured or as I carried them to the table as the mugs weren't full and I didn't spill any. Yes, I know I should have complained at the time and asked for replacements but my OH reminded me we were at a pie and mash shop, not at 'The Savoy' which I interpreted as he didn't want me to create a fuss so I dipped a clean napkin in the tea and wiped the rim so I could drink from it. The tea was actually a very good cuppa but please, please, please do either buy some new mugs or sort out your dish washer!.

My brother came to visit. We were both brought up on pie and mash in Bethnal Green so we have a fair idea how it should taste. I went to Scotts thinking that Kelly's in the Roman Road couldn't be beaten. Well it can't but Scotts comes pretty close. Took my son too but he wasn't sure about the whole concept of green liquor so opted for gravy. I think I will have to educate him!! Scott's is a really good place to visit if you want a 'pie' fix. Staff are friendly and the shop is very clean. Mouth is watering as I write. Think I may be making another trip there very soon.

My Sister has used this shop many times in the past as she and her family live near by. We used to live near to the Old Kent Road so a bit of choice there. My wife and myself now live in Kent and when we went to visit my sister we stopped off to get pie and mash to take back home with us, it was absolutely brilliant, took me back to the old days. Good pies good mash and liquor very nice. Will use again. great.

Very traditional Pie & Mash eat in shop. We travel from Gatwick to experience this delicious grub! If your suffering from withdrawal systems then this is the place to go.

Always visit here on a regular basis for the one and only pie and mash. Although this cafe does serve other food which is great as well. Service is always good and always manage to get a seat. Lunchtime very busy, but fresh pie and mash always served nice and hot. Lots of locals - very popular. Fantastic !

Highly recommend Scotts, it has the look and the feel of a real London Pie Mash shop, right down to the real tiles on the walls. If only they could make the journey there easier, the traffic is horrendous............but its still worth it

I was brought in London with all the pie & mash joints , moved to Orpington in 1976 , scotts is the best in the south east !!!!

The pie 'n' mash is always good so we often go there.Only downside is that there are no customer loo's...

Sad to say these places are a dying breed across London RIP the CUT among others, so while it's still about defiantly one to try this basic but hearty traditional English meal ! double double please !!

We go here quite often they will do you a smaller size meal for the little ones or give you one meal with two plates to split it between them. Staff are lovley.

We have been looking for a pie and mash shop and found Scotts .tucked away in a new shopping complex , this traditionally fitted out shop was great . It looked right , stalls and lovely tiles .Set up for efficient eating and good basic foods . We had jellied eels and steamed eels with mash and liquor . The first taste for my son ! The menu had lots of other things ;pie and mash ; eggs and chips all hot and fresh . It was right !

There is a reason why this place is always busy - it's great! Quick service and good food. Staff are really good - they are polite and extremely helpful. We'll be back.

This was the first time I have been to a pie & mash shop in over 50 years & I wasn't disappointed. I had eel & mash which was great although I did think there could have been more eel in it but as eel is very expensive, I think I got value for money. My friends had pie & mash which they thought was excellent, so we intend to make this a regular occasion. There are various other dishes available, including desserts

I was brought up on Pie and mash in the 1950's and this is as close as I have had to the original. They have even tried to replicate the interior with the marble tables and wooden seating. Top marks.

From outside it doesn't look great but the Pie & Mash was as it should be. The food & service was great especially considering how busy it was. Very clean & tables were cleared quickly. Will definitely be going back soon

Good pie and mash plenty of meat in pie unlike other pie and mash shops I have been to. Good deserts with custard too. Prices very good and quick service. Need I say anymore.

A family favourite.The pie and mash here is some of the best around. Double pie, mash and eels is my favourite. My mum loves their ham, egg and chips.Regular haunt whenever I'm home from Ireland. Always busy which is a good sign. Highly recommended!

Never go North of the Thames for Pie 'n Mash; the liquor just isn't the same. Scott's serves it up traditional "South London" style. Of course the meat looks grey, it always has! And the pies are meant to look "burnt" on the top. I've been eating Pie 'n Mash for the last 65 years and have no complaints about Scott's.

Service is always friendly. Good prices but most of all great food been a customer for over 20 years. Often get take aways always ready and always the correct order. Just good homely place to go and eat.

Visited last week after being recommended - have to say I must be missing something! We really wanted to try this traditional dish and ordered the pie mash and liquor for three people - staff were friendly enough but one was sipping from a coke can whilst serving customers - the food was pretty bad, the meat in the pie was grey, the pastry was soggy on the bottom and burnt on top, the mash tasted very watery and almost like instant potato and the liquor, well not really sure quite what that was meant to taste like but it was not pleasant.

I have been having pie and mash since I can remember! I use both the Orpington and Cotmandene shops. Now to be honest I take away normally for the whole family but certainly remember the times we used to eat in when hungover to try and sober up on a Saturday! Simple food and flavours but just amazing especially with lots of liquor with salt and vinegar! I am still amazed when I find people who have not had this amazing experience just last year we introduced pie, mash, liquor to a friend! Great value, try it!

A popular eaterie offering a varied menu for a pie n mash shop. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is freshly cooked and the portions are generous.

It's so nice to see a good old pie & mash that hasn't been taken over by a posh restaurant as there are so many there.The staff are always friendly the pies & mash are lovely and always hot.My only gripe is its not big enough mind you you can sit with a variety of different people.There are also a range of different things on the menu cheese burgers lovely.Jacket potatoes etc.On the whole a nice place. Highly recommended not over priced I just hope it stays given the regeneration of Orpington

Lovely food, clean tables and friendly staff. Best cup of tea I've had in ages, 2 lots of pie mash & liquor 2 cups of tea and a can of coke for £10.80. Absolute bargain!

Popped in for a double double, sausage sandwich and a cheeseburger. All very nice, cost around £17 with 2 teas and a water. Would happily go again.

A (Native) traditional Pie & Mash establishment run by a number of family generations full of character that reflects in their simple traditional pie and mash cuisine, which is a far cry from the commercial processed slop, which the meat closely resembles (Cat food) that is served by (Non-Native) Pie & Mash establishments in the area. Come on, it's not rocket science to make Pie & Mash.Customer Service at the establishment is always welcoming from my point of view and eventually the family grows on you when you visit as often as I do with my family.

Food was ok but seems lady serving didn't feel need to wash hands after going to the you toilet. Won't see me again
