What a great find! We found this place on the internet and drove around an hour to get here and it wasn’t a wasted trip. It’s not a big place but is just right for having a good look round. We had lunch in the Gardener’s Tea Room, both of us ordering the lite bites from the menu. It was fabulous! Fresh ingredients a hot chips as well and great value. The staff were very polite and accommodating and the place itself was clean and inviting. We would certainly come back and recommend to anyone.

My friend & I visited here for lunch but later than usual. Lovely friendly welcome as always & shown to our table. We ordered tuna sandwiches plus chips, prawn jacket potato & cold drinks. Swiftly served by a friendly member of staff. The place was full of happy looking customers & the whole atmosphere was one of relaxed, cheerful folk enjoying each others company. The food was fabulous, fresh & extremely tasty. We ordered the scones with butter, jam & cream plus two pots of tea. The scones were probably the best we’ve ever tasted. They were huge & obviously freshly baked. The whole bill came to £32 which we thought was extremely reasonable. We would highly recommend this lovely restaurant/tea rooms to anyone who loves a friendly atmosphere coupled with super food…cannot praise this place highly enough. Thank you so much & we will return!

We stopped by to get some pots and plants and perhaps have a coffee and cake. Unfortunately we didn’t even get to the tearoom as dogs weren’t allowed in the garden centre! I can completely understand maybe not allowing dogs in the tearoom but why not in a garden centre?! Most garden centres are happy to welcome dogs and usually sell lots of doggie treats, toys and food. Not here, you are just greeted with two big signs on the door saying ‘No dogs allowed’!!

Staff in cafe lack friendliness. Thought we’d give it a try as like to use small to help. Waited at the chain rang bell. 5 mins a girl came over didn’t speak just gave us menus. Waited 10 mins no one came to take order so had to go up to counter and order. 2 ham and cheese pani. 45mins it took fir the most basic pani. So was pleased never ordered scampi. The staff are mute. Not even a little smile. Will never go their again or the garden centre. And we will be telling everyone we know avoid. Disappointing poor food poor service.

Lovely, friendly, clean, very nice food Coffee a little strong for me. I can imagine during the warm weather it gets very busy. Luckily we pick a quiet time

My husband and I were staying not far from here in self-catering accommodation. We called in to see if the tea room did a cooked breakfast on a Sunday. Unfortunately they don't, but the staff were so helpful and friendly and advised us where we could go, that we stayed and had a meal with them anyway. We hadn't booked a table, but they fitted us in, during these very difficult times. Nothing was too much trouble. Had a good look around the gift shop and bought a few small Christmas presents.

We have stopped off at this tearoom many a time and always find a friendly welcome at this family garden centre. Plenty of seating - outside also in good weather - and you can opt to sit in the cosy section or out in the light, airy gift shop area. A great selection of 'proper' home-made cakes and scones. We tried out the cherry and fruit scones, both delicious, with a good pot of tea - and very good value.

I regularly attend here for a coffee, which is always good, and sometimes one of their excellent cakes. The seating is good and there is often convivial company. After enjoying my refreshments I love to wander around the garden centre and stock up on any items I need for my garden.

Generally having used this cafe for many years I have found the quality to be good. However today I had a toasted teacake and asked for an extra pat of butter and was advised this was 20p extra. Won't be gong back.

We often call in for a coffee, usually accompanied by a scone. The first thing you notice is the good value, the next the quality of the freshly made scone. Simply outstanding. Have taken grandchildren there a couple of times for lunch. Although nearly everything comes with frozen chips and peas the food is more than acceptable. Afternoon they offer a coffee and cake deal, again excellent value. All cakes home made. Nice comfortable layout of cafe which is clean and tables cleared quickly Cafe staff are always pleasant and professional. Pity the majority of the garden centre staff are not the same. They can sometimes question your loyalty of supporting local businesses. If you want to try what are in our opinion ( as scone addicts) the best fruit scones in Lincolnshire make sure you go well before lunch as they are often sold out

Went today for a lovely trip with my mum. She is in a home but she has a wheelbarrow of her own there so we needed new plants. Had the intention of having couple of hours there for a nice afternoon treat. Little man whom I guess was same one as previous review was so very rude . I said I had parked in the disabled section of car park as mum in a wheelchair but didn't have a badge so if anyone asked he could let them know. He was so rude and just said its up to you. I was so cross and did not want to spend any of our money with them but had to as it wasn't fair to get mum flustered. Will never go again. I work with the general public and love them. LMS little man syndrome I call it but so much damage done. Rude rude rude and I NEVER write reviews. EVER

Having been here last year to the garden centre and spent a heck of a lot of money, I thought I'd go back today to get a few bits and pieces for the garden. Thought I'd have a coffee and something to eat, the girl at the till was not very talkative, didn't really want to respond to anything I said, so I thought I'm not going to spend anymore on this poor service! Then after that I went into the garden centre spent a small fortune only to have a 'little man' serve me who didn't speak or ask me for a bag if I needed it ( which I did, so I walked out fingers and thumbs with my things!!) couldn't be even bothered to say goodbye when I left! What is it with people now-a-days! So now, I decided to go back to the bigger garden centre in Lincoln from now on, at least they speak there and have a little conversing with you when I go, though it's a longer trip out I would rather have good customer service that this place! Appauling!!!

The tea room is popular with locals and gardeners, and is often used as s meeting place for the older generation to have a light lunch or a cup of tea and cake. Prices are reasonable , and the only other option in the village is the pub. I would say the average age of clientele is probably 75!! A shame as it would also be good for cyclists for instance .

We called at the Scothern Nurseries and decided to have something to eat and drink. I ordered a cheese toastie and it was one of the best I have had. It was full of cheese and cooked to perfection. We were served by a very pleasant young lady. My partner had a plain cheese sandwich which also was well filled with cheese. If in the area will certainly use again. The selection of cakes was exceptional all looking very tasty but unfortunately I had no room left.

We use the Gardeners' Retreat quite often and it does usually offer a varied menu. Today,Sunday,we were disappointed that the only main courses available were meat based, the vegetarian quiche had sold out...this was at about 1230,lunchtime. Whilst jacket potatoes were available,we don't consider this to be suitable fare for a Sunday lunch. On checking the bill,we found that we had been charged £4.15 each for apple pie and custard;this,we felt, was extortionate considering that the main course was a more realistic £6.49. I queried this with the counter staff, but this was the price we had to pay.The prices of puddings and cake are not displayed, although one particular slice of cake was on special offer at 99p.The main course of chicken pie was tasty, but the only green vegetable on the plate was peas;with the cafe based in a garden centre, this didn't seem very adventurous. The apple pie crust was hard, splashing custard when my spoon cut through it,but edible, whilst the apple was so bitter it made me wince,I had to add sugar to the dish. we would normally say the cafe offered good value, but the cost of the apple pie was a lot higher than we have paid in similar establishments, and in future,we will ask the prices before we order, but the old adage says "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.".

Too many dogs here. Personally I don't like dogs around food. I only had coffee and cake which was very unappetising but my friend had the breakfast which he said was great. Why can't cake be fresh and moist? The staff work hard.

The old faithful Costa. It is the universal meeting spot for anyone coming from outside of Gainsborough! Cheap parking, lovely outside seating area and good reliable drinks. The upstairs is particularly beautiful with its full length glass walls with a view over the fountains and the old marshalls yard buildings. Top tip.... if you're looking for a good spot to watch the reindeer being turned on at Xmas time, get upstairs early as you get a perfect cosy spot to watch the festivities

Two of us ordered steaks. Sirloin wasn't available so we settled for rump. Admittedly we asked for it well done, however I have never had meat as tough. It was so tough we could barely cut it let alone chew it and we left it. Absolutely dreadful! Informed a staff member who said she'd pass it on. So won't be returning
