The waiters and the lovely waitresses were most attentive, though not overly so, like most American restaurants. The meal was not long in coming, perfectly cooked and at a price a pensioner like me doesn't mind paying.(Note to Chancellor - please don't cut my pension because I went here!)

A good general rule is: avoid deserted restaurants. A desire for beef took me here. Deserted. Early indications were poor. Red velour with canteen style layout for well over 80 covers, with a curious mix of plinky lift "ambient" music over laid with Frank Sinatra's to 100 hits. The music was sorted when I pointed this out, but the ecor should be consigned to the 1970's. The steak was good. The Beaujolais was a real surprise, Louis Jadots's 2011. Marvelous. The rib-eye was a bit undersized, slighlty under seasoned and the salad presentation was from 1970 too. Chips were way too oily. Having only English mustard was another downer. Another was tonight it was not able to take "plastic". Frankly this is poor getting punter to raid the ATM. The VAT man's visit is not far away. Having said that £40 all in within the "Smoke" compares well with way more poor options.

Complete rubbish if I'm honest. Food was disgusting when they finally got the order right. Toilets had urine all over the floor and cubicles clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. Worst resteraunt I've ever been to

Fuimos al lugar por cercanía del hotel. Pedimos mesa para cuatro, nos asignaron una y liego de ordenar, nos pidieron que nos cambiasemos de mesa. La comida, horrible, sin gusto. La atención, mala y, el remate, cuando fui a pagar me sqlieon con que era solo cash, cuando no había ninguna información al respecto ni nos lo habían dicho antes. Muy mala expeeiencia

Uno scandalo e non per la qualità del cibo, discreta senza toccare punte di eccellenza. La posizione pure è ottima ma cavolo.. che giudizio si può dare quando ti invogliano ad entrare mostrando grandi cartelli al di fuori del locale dove pubblicizzano dei piatti di carne più contorno incluso a prezzi modici e poi ti fanno pagare la sola carne 4 sterline in più e con il contorno a parte. Uno scandalo. E non c'era scritto che i prezzi si riferivano all'"early evening" come in altri locali. Ho controllato. Devono ringraziare mia morosa che non ha voluto che facessi storie dato che era l'ultima sera a Londra e non voleva rovinarsela. In più il servizio è scadente. Dai camerieri alla qualità delle ceramiche. A come ti trattano. Meglio in un self service. E poi ti portano come acqua una perrier da non so quante sterline. Non si capisce nemmeno se vogliano apparire come un posto in o da poco. Unico pasto che non avevo organizzato mi sono preso la fregatura. Che dire. In ogni locale a Londra mi sono trovato benissimo con gente gentile e sempre ben disposta. Al personale di questo ristorante avrei voluto tirare un pungo!

Where to start. First of all we were informed only taking cash as cards not working. That's fine we thought. Next the manager was sat at the bar having a full blown argument with a member of staff on the phone. Embarrassing. The decor is 80's, I love a bit of 80's, but this place has clearly not been painted or cleaned since then! The food. Oh my days. Myself and my partner ordered fillet steak, mushrooms and chips. With a side order of peppercorn sauce. The mushrooms were tinned, the steak definitely not fillet, and the peppercorn sauce was thick bisto with a few peppercorns thrown on top. It was so expensive too. Which we expect in London. But a steak house that doesn't know which steak is which and how to make pepper corn sauce, come on! We actually can't stop laughing at our experience at this restaurant. It was tragic. We felt so sorry for the poor waiters and expected them to mouth "help us". Just don't go!

This was one of the worst eating experiences of my life!!! Please do yourself - and your wallet - a big favour and avoid at all costs. Disgusting.

Worst meal ever, do not go there. Bad steaks and only cash payment, no real bill. The medium cooked steak was really bloody and did not taste good at all.

Elegimos este restaurante entre los muchos que existen en la zona con la intención de tener una agradable despedida en nuestra última noche en Londres. Un error. Nos suben al primer piso. Tras escoger los platos y pedir nos comunican que !no tienen Hamburguesa¡ y tampoco un plato de cordero (bastante típico). Pedimos otros platos en su lugar. Nos traen la comida, tras una larga espera, y el Steak de mi mujer está seco y sólo templado a pesar de haberlo pedido medium. Los cuchillos cortan poco mas que aire y agua (todos los de la mesa). Pasamos del postre, ya tenía ganas de salir de allí. Al ir a pagar me informan "Only cash" así que me toca bajar al cajero "just on the left of the door". Antes de bajar le solté, educadamente, lo que pensabla del servicio recibido y que podía retirar el "service" de la cuenta. Me temo que ya ha oído muchas descripciones parecidas. El colmo fué al bajar y ver, al salir, a dos chicas comiéndose sendas hamburguesas en la planta baja del local. Espero que esta opinión sirva para evitarle a otras personas la desagradable experiencia.

I don't normally write reviews but in this instance I thought I'd make an exception.It was sh1t... under no circumstances should you eat at this restaurant!Everything about the 'experience' was awful, oh and watch out for the additional 'cover charge' per person. Still not too sure what this was for, I think it was in return for allowing us to eat in their disgusting building.Only positive part of the night was turning others away at the door!

I had dinner here with my daughter. There was a warm welcome and we were shown to a first floor table with great views of Theatreland. The steak was tasty and overall the food was good and reasonably priced for London.

I'm on a business trip with colleagues in London, and wanted to eat traditional fish and chips for dinner on Thu eve. We saw this place while we were walking in London it has a pretty nice location. And there was traditional firs& chips on the menu. First I wanted to order cider. They ran out of that. Then I ordered beer with ginger alle to have something similar to cider :) They ran out of that. At the end I ordered light coke. For food I ordered traditional fish&chips as planned. guess what! They ran out of that. I ordered salmon (which was fine actually but much more expensive) We ordered starter as well from the Starters to share section. The girl was very surprised (and it seemed like she didn't understand) that we all want to eat from that as that is a starter for share... The food was more or less good. At the end when we was about to pay my ginger and bill and everything was there on the bill!

Unfortunately we went into this restaurant on a Thursday evening. We just wanted to eat a fish and chips. We were put on the first floor which had a nice view onto the street but this was the only good experience. The space was quite busy downstairs but upstairs we were the only ones. The place was cold, only an electric heater was in operation. We ordered beers(budweiser, kronenburg, stella artois) and ginger and we ended up receiving budweiser, some kind of bitter beer and coke. They run out of ginger but forgot to mention that they don't have kronenburg neither. On the bill there were all 3 beers plus ginger. We asked for a shared plate but waitress didn't understand what we asked for and needed to speak to the main waiter. For the main course we ordered fish and chips and some other meals. But they run out of fish and chips. Iit was only 7 o'clock. What supply do they have? They served the starter after a long wait and we couldn't finish because the brought tha mains. The waitress said "Sorry, we needed to bring it becuase it was ready". But not us with the starter. The waitress could barely understand english asked back all the time. As I mentioned when we received the bill it contained more items that we ordered but at that time we just wanted to get out from the place. The waiters seem Italians as I heard them sepaking in italian. Never go there!!! It's expensive(fish and chips advertised for 15 punds, was only 8 in the next pub). And as I see from the reviews all the restaurants in London with the name "Scotch Steak House" have very bad reputation and reviews. What a shame...

We went here as it was opposite he theatre we were visiting later. It was quite quiet which should have given us a clue. A lady outside showed us the pre theatre menu which looked quite good value. We went in and sat down. Two of our party wanted sparkling water and two wanted white Pinot Grigio. They had no Pinot and when the water came it was still. The waitress did tell us she wouldn't charge for and brought us a bottle of sparkling. A couple of us decided to order chicken dishes from the pre theatre menu, but before we could the waitress told us they had runout of chicken. The menu heavily features chicken and steak and this was before 7 pm. She seemed really surprised when we all stood up and walked out!

Please note the actual name of this 'restaurant' is the Scotch Steakhouse and not Scott's. It is situated on the cornor of Shaftesbury avenue and Wardour Street. I won't bore everyone with another full review on this listing as I have completed one under Scotch SteakHouse. Needless to say I completely concur with all the other reviews left here.Enter at your own risk

This has got to be the worst restaurant I have ever had the displeasure to visit. We visited on Saturday 24th November at around 8pm. The floor under the table was covered in rubbish, used forks and dirt. The shelves along the side that the wine sits on were covered in dirt and dust. I had to ask for my wine glass to be replaced twice as it was covered in fingerprints and dust.We both ordered ribs as starter and I ordered a ribeye for main and my partner a rump. When the ribs arrived there were from frozen stock (not fresh) and when I bit into them there was blood in the middle and they were still frozen (on both portions). These were immediately returned. When my steak arrived it was a sirloin instead of a ribeye (a steak house that can't tell the difference in steak cuts). ,y Parthers steak was meant to be medium but was cremated and my chips looked like they had been cooked several hours previously. Finally the guys eating next to us (two pilots from Norway) asked if we had been to the toilets yet..we hadn't... they suggested the the best things to do was not to as they were disgusting.We sent back our mains, asked for the bill for the wine which we had only half drunk. We paid for the wine and left. The waiter came after us to ask for the bill back and we asked why. He said they needed it for their records and said he would write out a new one. When we went back he tried to write out a bill which only detailed the wine and not all the items we had sent back so we said no as we wanted proof that we had ordered and returned the food.On our return home I emailed Westminster environmental health as the standard of cleanliness and overall food safety were exceptionally poor.

I have just eaten here tonight and it is the worse meal I have ever eaten out in a restaurant!!! The staff are well odd and once you have ordered they then let you know they only take cash and there is a cash point next door! The drinks came and my gin and tonic was like water and my husbands pint was flat, worse he had ever tasted, he left it. We had our 2 daughters with us and one had water that she even said tasted odd. We ordered 3 steaks and 1 kebab, when it came it even looked vile! Chips were heated up, steak was tough as old boots, vegetable were also heated up. We were going to see Ghost the musical so we went here before the show, my god what mistake! The bill was £80.50 and it wasn't worth a tenner!!! Like the previous review wrote they wished they had gone to MacDonalds and that is exactly what we said to each other!!! I dread to think what the kitchens are like!

We ate here, as desparate to find somewhere to eat before an 8.30 show, and being strangers,we under estimated how busy the area was and how difficult it would be to find anywhere to eat. This place had spaces, and we soon knew why. It was grotty, with sticky tables,menus and cutlery. The waiter was weird and hardly spoke English. Having no time to move on, we chose from the menu and when ordering were then told it was cash only. We should have left then, but reluctantly ordered. The food was awful. Dried up chicken, terrible burger,poor quantity, all at a price that was extortionate. It wasn't worth a fraction of the total. The only reason people go there must be, because, like us, they are desparate to find somewhere in the area, and the owners know that there is endless passing trade of gullible customers. This place would not survive anywhere else but the manic West End. We should have gone to Macdonalds, it would have been better and cheaper, and i don't even like Macdonalds!!

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant during our stay. Upon entering the restaurant we were sat down, our drinks order taken (2 cokes which were flat) and then was told they could only take cash!! This annoyed us as we should have been told before being seated. I ordered the pork ribs and my boyfriend the new York steak. My ribs were Luke warm and out of a packet and my boyfriends steak was so thin the bacon on top was thicker. A couple in the table behind us sent back both there meals as the chicken was raw. Overall the meal was absolutely horrendous and the bill was £50 which to me was £50 to much!!

We visited this place on Jan 2nd 2012, and my wife and i both ordered beef stroganoff. What arrived on our plates might have come out of a tin of dog food, it was dire, very very dire and i refused to pay for such a foul meal, the manager said that as we had eaten part of our meals we had to pay the full amount, and he said this in a very menacing way. Being a 6ft 5inch ex para ( and having been there seen it and got the t shirt ) i took a great dislike to him threatening my wife, i said that i would pay for the wine and that was all, he did not like being played at his own threatening game but eventually agreed to waive the cost of the meals, when the bill arrived there was service a charge added and i again refused to pay this. I payed for the wine and we left and i then spent the next half hour stood outside this disgusting eatery turning over 30 people away. For the record i cannot stand Mcdonnalds but Mcdonnalds would seem like a 5 star establishment compared to this place. FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT EAT HERE

As the previous reviewer has said the standard of service and food in this place is appaulling. My partner ordered scampi with salad at £11.80 and I ordered the gammon steak with salad at £13.80 the oriental waiter asked if we wanted chips or Jacket potato, we both opted for chips. When the meal arrived I had a dessert spoonful of chopped peppers, onion and tomato which was the salad and a piece of gammon that resembled a old flip flop in more ways than one and chips. I actually bent the knife trying to cut the gammon, then when I tried a piece it was like chewing a lump of rubber. The scampi (6 very small pieces) came with the same salad and chips at £11.80. Both meals were inedible apart from a few chips. I asked for the bill and to make matters worse the chips were not included in the price of the main meals, so a further £7.20 had been added to the bill for these. Along with 2 glasses of flat warm coke the total bill came to £37.20. The 2 foreign gentlemen at the table next to us had ordered 2 steaks with jacket potatoes. When one of them asked the waiter for some butter for his dry potato the waiter replied that the "butter was only for the bread rolls" and he could only have salad cream or ketchup for the potato. Also, lady on the table opposite had starting to eat a burger that she realised was uncooked and bloody in the centre. I can honestly say I have never been in a restaurant as woeful as this. It really is the pits and I will never be returning. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!

We visited this restaraunt thinking that being in such a prime position next door to Queens Theatre - we couldn't go wrong - how naive that was. This 'steak house' is definately not up to par. Waiters/Watresses who do not speak or understand basic English brought out my tough as old boots piece of meat which was thrown on top of my salad - and then left. 5 minutes later we asked where my husbands meal was........they had forgotten to take his order because the chinese/asian waitress didn't understand 'ribs and salad please'I was mortified to hear a waiter offer an American family Worcestershire sauce when they asked for Soy sauce - the waiter said 'it is exactly the same' Other people left saying 'that was the worst meal of my life' and so did we.There are plenty of other GOOD steak houses in London - but AVOID this one at all costs !
