We went outside Keele University term time. It was quiet. We got good service. I had the oatcakes. I am a local, and know oatcakes. Visitors (parents of students etc) might be really impressed. I was less so. I am not so used to a few large mushrooms with the cheese. I would suggest slicing them and spreading them all over. The cheese could have had a greater presence too. And maybe a less greasy oatcake. My friend’s fish fingers sandwich was however excellent. Apparently it came with an espresso cup of carrot soup; which I enjoyed. He said it was first rate, and he is a bit picky. We enjoyed a side order of chip. Yes really chips, not fries. So we will certainly return, but maybe try something different.

I arrived on Sunday for a breakfast, and was warmly welcomed by a waitress. The buffet brekfast I selected consisted of eggs, toast and bacon; fried bread was not available. The food was OK, but the toast was of the thinnest, basic quality sliced bread. The glasses from which you could drink orange juice were tiny; much smaller than the standard UK school meals glasses, so it was necessary to refill several times to receive an adequate amount. Other jiuices were available in very small cartons. Overall, adequate, but very expensive for what it was. Perhaps another meal may offfer better value.

We came after a recent flood and after ordering 3 club sandwiches which come with chips and a cheese toastie with an added portion of chips we were told the chip fryer was broken so chips were not available. Nevertheless, we were charged FULL price for the 3 club sandwiches with NO chips and more disgustingly we were charged an extra £4.90 for chips we did not receive. See the receipt. There are other tea rooms in Bradford on Avon that are worth visiting and you wont get ripped off.

Very good lunch, busy but were found a table quickly. Staff we dealt with were all excellent, special thanks to Amelia who recommended the BBQ chicken with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Will be another addition to our favourite lunch spots..

The food was fantastic. Fresh vegetables cooked to perfection, meat succulent. The chef has the perfect blend of herbs to enhance the food but not overpower the flavour. Great range of beer and cider. The pub was on the side of the canal so plenty to see as well. I would definitely recommend a visit.
