A lovely view from the front window. We ran into this cafe to get out of the rain. They were welcoming and I enjoyed a chai latte. Unfortunately they'd run out of gluten free cake. The toilets were very nice. When we arrived they asked whether we'd just come for drinks. The menu that we were given just showed the drinks. If they had given us a menu showing the food, we may well have decided to have food after all. A missed opportunity on their part. People were having nice looking all day breakfasts.

Yet another bad review about service at this place. Last time we came here we walked out as we were ignored. Ok, that time they were busy but recently not so. This time person taking orders was busy… talking to another table and in my opinion taking far too long. No apology for keeping us waiting to order, in fact appeared slightly belligerent. To top it off, the normally excellent Bristol Twenty coffee was weak as water. Won’t rush back!

Lovely cafe/restaurant situated near the Pier with excellent views across Bristol Channel. Surprisingly very good selection of bottled beer from local breweries. We sat outside on the terrace on a table that was full of used crockery, after waiting for 15 minutes to be served I asked a waitress for a menu and could they clear the table, she replied positively but unfortunately nothing happened despite the fact there was plenty of coming and going by the staff. It was like we were invisible. Waited a further 15 minutes and left. Don't bother going there

Booked a table in advance for 5 people we were advised there was a half hour wait for food which was fine. However, having ordered 5 meals three of which were ham egg and chips the food took at least 3/4 of an hour to arrive with no apology. The food was fine. Teas ordered were sadly luke warm. but the when we asked for the bill that came really swiftly! Would sadly not return.

Nice view, nice food, but service akin to Fawlty Towers. A special reservation (for particular needs) was overlooked, with no apology. Service was slow, items forgotten, but still put on the bill (which we had to ask for) even after we’d cancelled them. Is it really a surprise that people might want sugar with their tea, or salt with their meal ? The young waitress was nice but needed more training, the older lady was rude with it.

Ordered a veggie sausage for partner and bacon door step sandwich for me . Asked if I could have a fried egg in the bacon sandwich. What arrived were two sausage sandwiches (one veggie and one meat version) with a cold rubbery egg in it. Coffee and tea were okay but had to ask for some sugar - waitress came back with three cubes of sugar in a pot (that is rationing to an extent). My partner had a table knife with his sandwich whilst I was given a steak knife which was useless. We had to ask for sauces (arrived in little pots like the sugar) and because of my knife situation, I ended up just pouring it over my sandwich. Not a napkin offered or to be seen. Waitresses (3 present) not over friendly or welcoming and one loo out of action so queue. Overall, not the best of experiences given that they were not overly busy at the time of our visit.

Not a good experience. The order taker and deliverer was very short of manners or finesse. The order taking and food delivery was very slow and no apology or excuse offered. Twice in a row left due to some poor customer service. Very polite about it and of course if you want to have rule that says you can't move tables together to accommodate 6 people, that's entirely within the owner's rights. Still, a good reason to head to the superb restaurant on Clevedon Pier who seem to want your business. EDIT Returned to Clevedon yesterday - this time decided against Scarletts we tried 'Number 5 The Beach' a few doors down. Couldn't have been more different. Just drinks and a cake for 8 - but the kids fancied an ice cream, which wasn't on the menu. Thought we'd chance our arm anyway - and sure enough they cobbled together glasses of ice cream for each of us. As with Scarlett's they'd have been perfectly within their rights to say no - yet SUCH a difference in attitude.

It never disappoints. On the one occasion that it was super busy and we had a long wait we had lots of apologies and a free drink. We weren’t in a hurry, the dog was behaving.. it wasn’t a problem (apart from the threatening rain clouds!) The staff are friendly and professional. We had a table outside with a view of the sea and the pier directly opposite, so an ideal setting on the sunny day we attended. We couldn't find fault with anything, we saw our table being disinfected after the last customers as we arrived and it looked obvious that covid rules and regs were being abided by well, not always our experience in the few days we've been in the area. Our lunch of a panini and sandwich were both excellent and plentiful, I ordered an extra portion of chips to share that really wasn't necessary but enjoyable none the less. The wife had a pot of tea, I opted for mocha coffee which was probably the best I've had and a highlight, all for just under £20 which we thought good value. The staff were well turned out and pleasant and we waited barely 5 minutes for drinks and about another 10 for the food, considering it was fairly busy and everything was freshly made we had no complaints with that. Overall a very good lunch and would recommend!

Efficient cleaning of the tables before we sat down. We did notice that someone who had come in after us got served before us and another table. They also got their food first although another table ordered just before them. The teacake and the coffee that both I and my husband ordered was lovely but we didn’t want the jam although we believed we were charged the same price. Two small packets of butter each wasn’t really sufficient for the size of the teacake. They also didn’t have sufficient menus for everyone so we decided just to order without looking at it as it was quite busy due to another cafe nearby having trouble within their kitchen so it was closed.

I suspect this place is better in non-Covid times. Health guidelines are followed very well and the location by the beach is excellent. The staff seemed stressed and although friendly to customers were a bit snarky with each other. There was no kids option on the menu and they wouldn’t put a sausage and chips together ‘Because there’s no button for that’ (even though both items are on the menu). So we had to buy a toddler a full on adult meal or plain chips. However they did make the child’s hot chocolate cooler without us even requesting it, so that was a thoughtful touch. The food was nice takeaway kind of food. At £8 for a no frills sandwich was a little steep. If I went again I’d only go for a drink on the terrace.

We had just arrived in Clevedon and were looking for a lunch-time snack. Scarletts is in a excellent location facing the pier. It was a warm day so we had a table outside, good distance bewtten tables, staff wore masks, all tables and chairs sanitised as soon as customers left, well organized. I had a wrap and my wife had a goats cheese panini, both very good and good value. The service was attentive. In these troubled times folk need to be more tolerant about service levels and speed. Fewer folk in kitchens, fewer staff in general and good security practices such as sanitization all take time, so folk need to be patient.

My latest visit confirmed this, and won over my wife, who previously had a different first choice. The excellent breakfast menu contains plenty of vegetarian options, from which I chose the Eggs Florentine. Mrs Harvey went for the midi breakfast. All the ingredients are of a very good quality and the pea shoots that they use for garnish are wonderful! Fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked - what more could I ask? We visited Scarlett's after completing the coast path walk from Portishead to Clevedon , and so were in need of some serious refreshments .

We had an excellent full English breakfast here last Saturday. Other places along the road were packed and noisy. Scarlets was busy outside but was lovely and peaceful inside. The Staff were great, and the breakfast was served quickly. It was a full breakfast, and there was plenty of food on the plate. The price (£9.50) did not include a drink. It's cash only.

Scarletts, as was, is now called 'Number one the beach'. This was my first visit, though my wife and children have been before. There's a fair amount of seating outside, where you can admire the pier and sea. We headed inside, to sit at a large wooden table. The staff are friendly and service is pleasant and relaxed. My wife and son chose 'Midi breakfast' which is the smaller of the two 'full English' offerings. There was still plenty of food, though - quality ingredients, excellently cooked. My daughter went for an 'off menu' sausage sandwich: two meaty jumbo sausages, sliced length-ways and served in doorstep slices of very fresh bread. I had bubble and squeak with black pudding, and two poached eggs, garnished with pea shoots and a balsamic vinegar reduction. It was absolutely gorgeous! There are some lovely touches, at Number One - the sauces are in new-filled glass bottles, so you know they're fresh. The only thing I would flag up if you're visiting for the first time is that they don't take debit or credit cards: it's cash only. My overriding impression, though, was that we enjoyed great food and that, while it's not cheap, they could probably get away with charging more for it than they do. I'll go there again.

Had lunch for three people. Was very pleasantly surprised to find we were all served extremely good, exquisitely presented gourmet food at normal prices. My halloumi with tzatziki was really good, with asparagus, spinach, cress on sourdough. My companions were equally delighted & the meal made our day. Ice cream cone to follow was excellent, really good flavours (they also have cakes etc). Staff extremely friendly. No credit/debit cards accepted, you need cash. They could do with advertising outside on a board etc, as you can't tell if they serve food, from the road. But they certainly do!

Stopped by for lunch 10th May 2018. The tables inside were all full except one with everyone looking relaxed enjoying lunches or coffee chats. The ambience & atmosphere were very welcoming.

Show me a business that doesn't take cards in the 21st century and Ill show you one that has to turn half its customers away. If I had been able to pay by card I would have ordered so much more, but as it was we were scrabbling about in our purses for cash. As a family of 6 Im not in the habit of walking round with loads of cash in my pockets and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a cash machine anywhere close by.

We went to Clevedon for the day for the lovely walking. We had lunch - poached eggs on sourdough toast with roast tomatoes which was delicious. After our walk we were back for Earl Grey tea and pumpkin, fruit and nut flapjack and carrot cake - both were very tasty. The staff are always friendly and the service is great. PS they accept cash only.

We needed somewhere to rest and recuperate after my elderly brother was taken ill in a place we did not know very well. Recommended by a passer bye as being good and only a five minute walk from where we had parked.

Very friendly lady served us. Always nice to be greeted so warmly. Menu was good with lots of choices for a light lunch. The meal did take a while to appear but probably because everything is so fresh. Toilets were unavailable so we had to brave the snow showers and use the public toilets across the road which was not ideal but hopefully a temporary measure. The tea rooms will take cash only though we were told they were hoping to change this. We fortunately had enough cash on us but don't always carry cash so this could be a problem. A couple of people came in while I was there and didn't have cash so couldn't eat in

Sunny day so we took advantage and sat outside and ordered drinks to the app at 2.50pm. Pint and vodka & orange. At 3.10 I went inside to see how long they would be drinks a rude tall woman with dark hair shouted at me ‘our screen is saying 25 mins can u see we busy’ no sorry just rude! So we decided to go and get served at the bar as there was no wait. We actually drank these then at 3.35 went to see where our drinks where that I ordered at 2.50! We eventually got them at 3.45. Then we ordered food which came within 15 mins. 👌Chicken bites were lovely! Garlic bread had no taste of garlic and the cheese chips lol see photo - what cheese. The female staff behind the bar need to learn how to use manners and SMILE. What a mirsable bunch. At least the male staff were friendly and welcoming. Won’t be going to this place again.

The dining staff completely ignored my presence, so much so that I had to get up and ask at the bar for the pudding to be served. Their either need to train their staff to look the part and act the part or give up. Breakfast the following morning was similar, I had three staff not 4 feet from my table discussing their shift patterns at the top of their voices. I should have got up and asked them politely to move their discussions away from the paying guests but I did not.

Consistently the best carvery I've eaten which is why I keep on returning with friends and family. Freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Although it is very busy on Sunday, the staff are always polite, friendly and efficient. Movenpick Ice-Cream is a real favourite (not easily found in the UK, so even more extra special).

They do not serve food. Apparantly they have not served food for 5 years. Think the website needs updating
