First class place buried deep in Somerset. Do find it as it is really worth it. Find your way to Langford Budville, have a great Mocha and a cheese scone with salt and pepper of course. Scarletts is next to a great garden centre that is small but stocked with great plants and bonsai trees. Scarletts is too good to miss for an exciting lunch.

Whilst looking for garden plants we stopped for a cream tea, the surrounding did the food and service justice ? A quirky little place that serves a good variety of well proportioned meals that matched the surroundings, Perfect ! the staff were attentive and yet not intrusive and the scones were top marks can't wait to return on a sunny day and sit in the sunshine enjoying some more of the delightful treats!! A little out of the way and off the beaten track place, but well worth hunting out !

Really enjoyed visiting Scarlett's Garden for the first time today. Three of us had Smoked Haddock with Lentils and all agreed it was fab. The fish was beautifully cooked and the dish worked well, it was a generous portion and I didn't feel I had room for desert. Lynda shared her lemon polenta cake and that was spectacularly good. All-in-all a very successful lunch with friends in pleasant surroundings with attentive staff.

As a couple of friends we were lucky with the weather in the sunny garden, but the attentive staff who regularly checked we were ok (as the table was just round a corner), and top class food is the result of great cooking and vision. We both enjoyed the best soup/broth ever, rice noodles in coconut milk and salmon on top, Thai style. Fabulous flavour and clearly made just for us. Well done!

A lovely venue for an all-age family gathering; wood-smoke from the pizza oven to welcome you as you drive in to the car park; versatile seating inside or out under awning or in the sun with glorious views to Wellington and the Blackdowns. Friendly service, and any special dietary needs looked after. Children can visit the nursery and chickens and play area. Recommended

The setting of this place is marvellous wth spectacular views across the rolling hills to Wellington. Wonderful cooking, making the use of seasonal produce and the flavours were notably Mediterranean on the day that we went. The menu is small and ever changing, if you are after standard cafe fayre then it's not for you. There was only one veggie option but on a small menu this is certainly not a point for complaint. What we did have was spectacular. The service was also pretty good, the wait staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. It is certainly relaxed but for me that is part of the charm. Price wise I would consider this exceptionally reasonable for what you are getting. This might be more than a usual cafe one would expect to find at a nursery but the food is significantly better and you get what you pay for. I certainly think that mains being priced between £8 and £12 is fine for freshly cooked food. We had nibbles to share, followed by mains and then a dessert to share and coffee (oh and a glass of wine) for £25 pp including a tip. Apparently they do Pizza on a Sunday so looks like I shall have to make another trip in the not too distant future!

Having eaten here before several times, we were looking forward to our lunch. However, we hadn't booked, and as all tables were booked indoors, we were offered a table in the garden. It was windy but we found a fairly sheltered table and had a blanket too. I ordered the wood smoked chicken and my friend the wood smoked salmon. On arrival, my chicken breast was very small, and overcooked to the point it was dry, my friends salmon was lovely but both portions were quite small. We had Luscombe cordial and a pot of tea each and the bill came to £34.00, which to be honest for the portion size was a little on the expensive side! It got progressively colder outside, and after an hour we decided to settle the bill and leave. It was reinforced once again as we left that we need to BOOK.

Was taken here for lunch by my friend and what a treat! It's a rustic little cafe with the most amazing view over Wellington towards the Blackdown Hills. The food is superb if I was going to be a little bit critical it would be nice to have a basket with some slices of the gorgeous sour dough! I will definitely be back maybe on a Sunday to try the pizza!

Daughters 8th birthday today and we made a last minute decision to go out for lunch. Rang for a table and arrived there within half an hour.We sat in the beautiful garden. Service was excellent. We are blessed with children that are foodies, they opted for meatballs and pasta. What a hit! Being the responsible parents we are,we had a taste test and silently prayed the kids would say they were full soon - no such luck. The meatballs were so tasty.Hubby and I had the salmon and salad- fabulous. Girls had puds that they devoured and weren't keen to share.Lattes were lovely too, nice and smooth tasting. Will most definitely return. One of our daughters has an allergy and the staff were very helpful. We also bought focaccia from the bakery- absolutely delicious, obviously made with excellent ingredients.

Absolutely superb coffee & scones after a cycle ride in an idyllic setting. The owner George climbed from his slumber at 4.30 am on a Sunday after a call requesting sustenance. Lovely location, difficult to find especially when you forget its attached to the local garden nursery. The owner has had signs out but been asked to remove them by local council, but he has plans a foot. Follow signs to White Post Nursery and all will be fine. It's a bit of a rough lane past a couple of houses but the experience is worth it. We arrived just after 1.30 for a booked lunch with friends, most of the food and drink on menu was not available, reason being it's the first week open this year and been let down by suppliers. What we did have was delicious! The smoked charred chicken, salmon and a veggie tart. The accompanying salads were probably the best I've eaten out. Desserts were also limited, the tiramisu was good, so was the rhubarb and rose custard cream served in an antique teacup. Only disappointment was the granola slice which tasted like sweetened sand. Staff friendly and busy, took our banter in their stride. Setting is great with lovely views of the area. All in, a couple of beers, soft drinks, mains, desserts and coffee for four totalled £89. A well spent couple of hours catching up with friends in a charming tearoom in Somerset. Happy to return, hopefully food stocks will have arrived!

I was initially taken here for lunch by a friend and pleasantly surprised by the care and attention to detail in both the environment and the menu, albeit limited. I have been back with family and would only gripe that not everyone wants to exist on sweet stuff - would it be possible to cater on a lite bites menu in addition to the tea and cake after lunch service? Deliciously quaint, a very specific clientele of posh fifty somethings enjoying each other's company in the sun. I haven't been to the wood fired pizza lunch shift on Sunday's, but only because it's booked weeks in advance, so I guess it must be good!

We arrived mid morning, so we decided on just toast, jam and coffee. We had 6 small and thin slices of toast between 3 people and was charged £12 plus £8 for coffee, a total of £20.20 I cannot comment on the main meals but I concider £12 for a quater of a loaf of bread a rip off. Yes the cafe is quirky but there are plenty of cafes around that are far more reasonalable and just as nice. Sorry Scarletts but I cannot recommend you.

We chanced upon Scarletts Garden through the visitors' book at the cottage we rented, and despite being rather difficult to find (it's not that well signposted from the road), we were really gad we found it. Scarletts Garden is a small but totally delightful restaurant/tea room next to an interesting nursery. The building itself isn't that big but we were able to sit outside as it was a nice day and that's probably the best way to enjoy Scarletts Garden. I think one word to describe it would be eclectic. We found the decor and ambience delightful, the staff were really friendly and helpful and it was a lovely place to have lunch and relax in the sun. However, the stand out for us was the food which was superb, the best food we had by far while holidaying in North Somerset. I had the pappardelle and my wife the shakshuka eggs and both were fantastic. The sourdough bread with the shakshuka was also superb. Followed by a wonderful tiramisu and great flat white coffees (which are pretty hard to find in North Somerset), the whole meal was a delight. This is no ordinary restaurant/tea room. Don't expect the usual kind of stuff. Our advice is to take a look at the menu online. If, like us, you finds this intriguing and enticing you will love Scarletts Garden and you should make the effort to visit. If you think it looks a bit weird, it may not be your kind of place.

We visited Scarlett's yesterday for the second time since its reopening ( it closes during the winter months). As it is in my village, my husband and I love to walk up there for morning coffee or afternoon tea. Last week we chatted to George, the owner and mentioned that we had visitors coming to stay this week and one had gluten and dairy intolerance. He advised us to phone the day before we were planning to come and they would ensure there was something suitable on the menu. Well, we walked up to Scarlett's yesterday morning in glorious sunshine and sat outside. We ordered coffee and a slice of the special cake! Oh my goodness, it was amazing, so delicious. It was a hazelnut and orange cake and three of us opted to have it served with greek yoghurt. What amazing service! Our visitors were very impressed. My husband and I love Scarlett's because of the setting, the food, the relaxed atmosphere but most of all the staff are wonderful, always so pleasant and welcoming. We are looking forward to many more visits and especially excited about the new bakery that is opening soon.

We went here yesterday for a mixture of late lunch / afternoon tea depending upon your mood and greed and were more than pleasantly surprised. Driving up the little lane to the cafe / bistro / restaurant I must admit my heart sunk a little and I believe I ay have been a little rude to my wife; whose idea it was. I'm so glad I didn't turn the car around. On walking in my heart lifted a little, on reading the menu it was clear someone was thinking about what they were cooking and on eating it - well yummy. The compact building is eclectic in design, with artwork on the walls for sale and cookbooks dotted around to read - all a bit of a jumble but in a good way. Ingredients are clearly sourced carefully and locally and I imagine that almost evrything is cooked in the tiny little kitchen. A real gem of a find.

Scarlett's Garden is the successor to Moorish and 10 The Square, which were in Wiveliscombe, Somerset, a few miles west of Taunton. For the next few months Sally Edwards, founder of 10 The Square, will be cooking at Scarlett's Garden two days a week, so you can choose your days to visit and enjoy the food of two excellent cooks, the other being Aurora, the present owner along with George, who is the pizza whizz on a Sunday afternoon. Booking for this is usually essential as it is a very popular event. The rest of the week there is a regularly-changing choice of food cooked to order with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I have always gone there, and to its predecessors, as often as I can, and if I and my friends were to list our favourite dishes it would look pretty much the same as the menu! From soups to salads, souffles to summer puddings, and with vegetarian options, everything is well-prepared and presented. Service is always friendly and helpful. Last time a friend and I went they had a wedding-party of 50 people coming for cream teas but they still managed to fit us in. And whilst you are waiting for your order there is a spectacular view, from the large garden, across Wellington to the Blackdown Hills to enjoy. Afterwards you can potter round White Posts Nursery, who always have some interesting plants for sale. If you have sprogs, Scarlett's is very child-friendly, with toys and books and crayons available, and a playground just down the drive.

There were 6 adults and a few children this time and we sat under a tree in the garden. We didn't mind that they had pretty much run out of cream teas, nor that they totally forgot the hot chocolate ordered for one of the kids as we were all too busy enjoying ourselves in the slight drizzle.Upon paying we were lucky enough to receive a complimentary black cloud courtesy of the grumpy owner who made it clear kids were not welcome to explore and play in the garden. Thanks to his less than kind gesture we left safe in the knowledge we would not be returning. It was nice....but generally somewhat lacking in topping and original taste (our party had three of the pizza options, and I tried them all of course) Service was adequate, had to be prompted, but stretched........ things were forgotten, and I left sheepish as I had bulled up SG to our guests. Although the food was o.k the poor level of service really let them down and spoiled the lunch. On arrival we sat down and waited for somebody to offer us a menu, which was not forthcoming. My sister got up and asked a gentleman for a menu and was told he would be with us soon, which he was. After quite a long wait lunch arrived which was o.k if not a little overpriced. We then waited for our coffees which we ordered when the meal order was taken but again nothing was forthcoming. My sister had to find somebody to ask when the coffees would come which prompted them to finally bring them over. When the coffees arrived my sister asked for a scone and was told it would be a couple of minutes. After half an hour the scone hadn't arrived and as we couldn't wait any longer we had to leave. On paying we mentioned the scone and although an apology was given it really was too little too late. The cafe didn't seem overly busy but the gentlemen did seem very pre-occupied chatting with another table. I'm not sure if that was the cause of the well below expected level of service we received or not, but either way it certainly wasn't acceptable.

Aurora and George have continued where they left off at Moorish - with all the trademark brilliance in the cooking, in a fresh, beautiful new setting. This is so many things: a bolt hole to read the papers mid-morning with an amazing coffee and muffin; a great place to meet up for lunch; a brilliant place to fall asleep over your computer in the afternoon; and, of course, George's pizza evenings for the ultimate in rural artisan chic. As someone else said, I'm not sure I really want to be reviewing it, in case our secret is ruined; but I think we owe it to Aurora and George.

This place is what we all want as our little secret. It's beautifully secluded, with amazing views and lovely atmosphere. You are fully welcomed on your arrival and can happily while away the hours over coffee and cake or a lazy dinner. I really can't recommend this place enough. There is a lovely big garden for you to sit in (which Hobbs our mutt thoroughly enjoys) and a play area for kids away from said garden! Go there, do it, it'll soon become your little secret too.

We had the most delicious late lunch/afternoon tea at Scarlett's Garden on Saturday. It is in such a beautiful spot with great views across the Blackdown Hills and the Quantocks. The cafe is in a great garden setting with the birdies singing all around you. I had a lovely wild greens and cheese tart with salad, we shared a selection of delicious cakes, there was great coffee, a good selection of herbal teas and we even sampled the home made ice-cream, which was really good too! This is the perfect spot for a sunny day out!

We spent a lovely sunny afternoon sat in the garden at Scarlett's. Beautiful views with scones fresh from the oven served with homemade lemon curd and loganberry jam. We were made to feel very welcome and this has definitely become a favourite cream tea venue! Thanks for a great afternoon, we will be back very soon!

My family and I had regularly visited George and Aurora in their previous home in Moorish, Wiveliscombe. So when it was announced they were closing, our lives felt like there would be something missing. We had never before been into a cafe where not only ourselves but our children were made to feel so welcome. (Plus the cheese muffins were incredible!!!) But then there was light at the end of the tunnel!! There were relocating to The White Post nurseries. We couldn't wait for our first visit, and we were not disappointed. I honestly didn't think they could improve on their reputation but they more than have. The children loved running round looking for moss to fill the animal sculptures for the birds to use for nest material ( Thank you George for the suggestion) I treated myself to a new addition to their menu, a cream tea. After having to wait for my scones to be freshly cooked, I was presented with scones which were like velvet. I fear a cheese muffin may never get a chance to pass my lips again.I cannot recommended Scarlett's garden enough. It is worth the special trip everytime!!!

Scarlett's garden is well worth a visit to find the Moorish team in new surroundings. Last week had fab crab bucatini pasta and this week gruyere cheese soufflé. Both delicious. My son had the pork ragu which he particularly enjoyed. Menu changes every week so may have to go every week for more delicious lunches. Oh and wood fired pizzas on Sunday lunch times.

I'd regularly been a visitor of George & Aurora when they were at Moorish & was in pieces when I thought I wouldn't be able to have my weekly cheese muffin fix. Thankfully Scarletts Garden is their new venture & the muffins are still on the menu. The children love visiting & wandering round the garden to find the wire animals to fill with moss. The setting is beautiful & calming, with a lovely safe play area for the little ones. There's a good variety of drinks on offer, amazing food & acrimony cakes. George & Aurora are very friendly & welcoming & I couldn't recommend a visit enough to people, it's always worth the drive to get there.

My favourite cafe in this part of Somerset has moved into a garden overlooking Taunton Vale with fantastic views and the same great coffees and cakes and a lunch menu that satisfies anyone who appreciates good food cooked well. Scarlett's Garden is great for families as there is a safe play area and chic enough for couples and friends looking for a relaxing meal with friendly service. They do sourdough Pizzas on Sunday lunch too.

The cafe is a great little hidden gem. Fantastic coffee, delicious cakes, a very nice owner and a beautiful selection of succulent plants and cacti, all very reasonably priced. Some of the plants are locally grown. I highly recommend trying out the independent cafe!

Please be very wary of booking any kind of function here. Our experience was of booking for my wife's 50th birthday one year in advance. Booking accepted, we sent out invites and people began booking hotel rooms etc. We received a phone call a few days ago, telling us that they were cancelling the booking. They had a story about double booking us with someone who made a tentative enquiry two years ago(!), but it is clear that we have simply been bumped for a more lucrative offer. It is so disappointing when a business treats potential customers like this. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for any important function.
