We went for a quiet Sunday Lunch at this charming little pub in Walliswood. I wanted the pork loin roast and my son wanted the roast lamb, sadly one was not on the menu and the other was sold out we think? We chose roast beef as an alternative which had ample gorgeous beef, lovely vegetables but drowned in a very watery gravy with no taste. I can only assume it was made with a few granules as it ruined the otherwise excellent meal. Big shame, please can this be resolved as I would definitely return otherwise. Maybe serve the gravy separately…?

After looking at reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided on the Scarlett Arms for our Sunday lunch. What a bitter disappointment it was. When you look forward to your main meal of the day, it makes it worse when you get a bad meal. We decided to have the roast Lamb. Whay can I say.. I got a plate of fat for my dinner. Just no meat at all. Our friend had half fat and Lamb. What I would like to know is, when the cook/chef puts that fat on a plate with no meat, they cant think oh that looks good. Talking about the roast. We all got 3 slices of carrot, 3 slices of Courgette (what the hell is Courgette doing on a roast dinner) ONE repeat One smallest Florette of Cauliflower you have ever seen. The gravey was as thin as water and not what was on the menue. At £17.50 this was very expensive for a roast dinner of this sub standard meal. The deserts were great. What is wrong with pubs putting the cheapest veg on a roast dinner. I did complain and my meal was taken of the bill without protest or an explanation.

I feel rather conflicted about this venue. A pretty and quaint pub? Absolutely! Interesting low ceiling, interior with a warm feel to it? Yes! Nicely maintained beer garden? Another ‘yes.’ Venue was pleasantly busy outside, when four of us arrived here, on a weekday, late afternoon. I’d been told by a couple from Oxshott that the food here is very good and the Fish and Chips which were ordered by two of our group, were apparently excellent. So, why do I feel conflicted? I think it’s me being slightly unfair, perhaps…. It’s the view, or lack thereof….Walliswood isn’t really remarkable, in comparison to many of the nearby, adjacent villages, and that was my only slight problem with the location, solely.

We came across this pub by accident after leaving Hannah Peschar Sculpture Gardens just a few minutes away. Really pleased we decided to stop. Parking immediately opposite the pub. A friendly welcome at the bar. A pub with character and obvious history. We took our beers and sat in the garden under a sunshade. Just as well, as it was a September heatwave. Sandwiches arrived soon after. Tasty and good value for money. Pity we live so far away as we'd happily return on a regular basis. Recommended.

Our neighbours recommended this pub so when drove over on the off-chance they might have a table for us. We were not hopeful as it was a Sunday and the car park opposite was almost full. But the really friendly staff managed to find us a table and we had a lovely Sunday lunch. My nut roast was top class. A nice couple of pints of Badger bitter too. The very hard working waitress apologised the food might take a while but it arrived quite quickly, piping hot. All in all a really lovely experience. Great service, good food and drink, and ample parking.

Great location and nice to visit a real pub as opposed to a gastro pub. Food was good although the barman who we think was the governor, was rather moody and not at all welcoming. Seemed ok with the locals but seemed to be preoccupied with us. There was a very friendly younger female who cleared our table at one point and had a much better attitude. Never got her name but she had quite long hair tied in a ponytail. Anyway, yes we would recommend the pub, food was good and location but due to the miserable attitude of the barman we will give it a miss.

Tucked away on a quiet road, this is the kind of pub you want to find but which usually evades discovery. A pretty setting with outside tables set well apart, a friendly welcome and a menu which some might find limited, but which caters for all tastes. No pretensions, excellent food served promptly and with a smile, and good value for money, even with the 10% service charge added. In summary, a place to revisit and discover that it's just as good as the last time we came.

Well this is a wonderful little gem of a pub, nestled in Surrey countryside, with a lovely garden, but a group of friends and I visited on 30th November and we decided to eat inside. The fire was crackling in the grate and the Christmas decoration were just being put up! Danny the Landlord is a very good host. The food offered on the menu was varied, and our group of 13 ordered a host of different lunches and not one of us was disatissfied with our choice of grub! The meals were all served spontaneously despite their varitation from sandwiches to curries! The ambience was very jolly and the fire crackled away beside us, making a jolly early festive feel to the whole lunch. When the meals arrived, (and it was pretty quick, considerering the diversity of choices), the food was simply delicious and I must say abundant - I couldn't finish mine and had to take the rest of it home in a conveniently supplied box. I would thoroughly recommend this fabulous little pub and have visited quite a few times and it never fails to disappoint.

Went down one Saturday evening with a friend. I ordered the Vegan burger, he had the home-made pie and we both had a pint. Service was really good, food fantastic and the beer was very nice as well. So good in fact that I took my daughter down a few days later. I had a warm salad, she had the vegan burger and the staff kindly made us some Pimms, which was excellent as it was a warm summers evening and we were sitting outside. Again, service was really good, food fantastic and the drinks excellent. Happily I am a local, hadn't been down for years but now its going to be a regular occurrence as cannot fault the food, service or drinks. Well done to the Scarlett Arms team!

This is a typical old English country pub - not so many left these days. I love everything about it. Low ceilings, big warm fire, locals propping up the bar on a Sunday afternoon, free (and generous) off-cuts on the counter if you have missed the Sunday roast, grea beer and general bonhomie - all of this goes to make for the perfect English pub experience. The only thing missing is the sound of a ball against the bat...but then it is winter! They even have conker competitions. Brilliant.

Once a year we make a beeline for the Scarlett Arms so we can sit outside in the sunny yard, surrounded by trees, and eat an English ploughman's lunch. They are increasingly hard to find and past experiences have taught us this is the place to go. The choices are beef, ham, cheese and the servings are generous. On Sundays they don't do ploughmans but offer a good selection of meals. This is a real English pub in a green and pretty spot. Children's playground on site kept our 10yr old busy the whole time. Free parking across the road.

Food was nice but rather strange, asked for vegetables rather than salad with a meal and was told we do not have vegetables, which is fine. Main course of rump steak which was pleasant but over priced and served with chips and side salad, bit bland. Ordered dessert of Scarlett Mess asked if this was with strawberries or raspberries and was told 'strawberries' it was chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, bit of whipped cream on the top with one cherry. Not a strawberry in sight? A beautiful pub but a bit disappointed.

The Scarlett Arms is a beautifully authentic pub in Walliswood . The beer selection was good : we were especially pleased with the inclusion of "Ghost Ship". The good quality Sauvignon was served at an appropriately chilled temperature . The garden - well kempt and comfortable. The food was of good quality ( we had roasts ). However the table waiting system seemed disorganised and unable to serve us all together. This may have been the fault of the kitchen's organisation . Another faux pas was to bring out hot food to clients and then fail to provide cutlery. I had to chase in for it myself . When one eats outside keeping food warm is surely of importance. So, a suggestion: get the kitchen organisation sorted and get the waiting staff trained up a tad more and it'll be a brilliant place for a beer or a luncheon with drinks !

Some of the group were eating off the starter menu and some decided to order cheesy chips - we were charged nearly £12 for 3 portions and each portion consisted of about 6 chips - outrageous. I wish I had said something at the time but the family didn't want to make a fuss - the pub was exceptionally quiet with no atmosphere - not sure what's going on there as this has always been a busy lively place to go!

Happened upon the Scarlett Arms totally by accident when out having taken a wrong turning. Pulled into the ample car park opposite and crossed over the road. You enter a lovely garden surrounded by magnificent mature trees and beautiful flowering shrubs. The building has considerable age and character. The garden wraps around the pub and to the rear there is a very good children's play area. Whilst we were there, there was a varied mix of families, children, mature citizens such as ourselves and a number of customers dogs ( all very well behaved, but still on the lookout for scraps). We ordered a burger and the sharing meat platter. The food was delicious and I have to say the meat platter was quite excellent. The cured meats were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and the staff super friendly. We have since returned recently but during a week day and our experience was as our first, through less people as our first visit was on a weekend. This really is a great pub in a beautiful location.

We lunch with our friends who live in Chichester once or twice a year. As we live near Dartford we have chosen the Dorking area as being about half way.For two of three years we have suffered at The Parrot which is in nearby Forest Green and are very pleased to have made the change. The Scarlett Arms is beautifully situated ( think The Darling Buds of May and you'll get the idea) and completely charming. I had bubble and squeak , egg and smoked salmon as a starter and then scotch egg and chutney. All home made and extremely tasty .Each of us chose different dishes and each of us were happy with our selection. Make sure you go there if you are in the area . You won't regret it!

We ate here on Sunday lunchtime before a visit to the nearby Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden. Surprisingly for the time and day there were very few other people eating. I ordered roast beef which I was told would be rare but was at the very least medium. Service was on the slow side, especially considering that there were not many diners. Also I thought it was on the expensive side. Altogether rather disappointing, especially in light of the many positive reviews.

For many years we had been fans of the Parrott, a pub nearby but change of owner has caused a drastic drop in standards.Despite getting lost on the way, we are delighted to have found the Scarlett Arms run by Tracy and her staff. They are warm and friendly as is the log fire that is at the heart of the bar/dining area. We were there for lunch (beware they close at 3pm) and my husband had the small serving of bubble and squeak, fried egg and bacon - it was a generous serving and bubbling freshly cooked. I had chicken, bacon and avocado salad beautifully served in large white china dish. I couldn't eat it all but really enjoyed the chargrilled chicken and bacon, Various local and special beers on tap and the wine I had was very pleasant, Substantial lunch for 2 for less than £30 was excellent value. We will be back with the grandchildren etc to enjoy the lovely garden - too cold today! Thanks girls, it was a lovely visit

Went to Scarlett Arms for dinner and drink. The staff were very friendly and bubbly. Great sense of humour. Great dish and pudding. Love a pub that serves up a nice cold glass of Peroni! Just what I needed after a long day at the office. Food was excellent! Had my favourite confit duck and gave my compliments to the lady chef. Definitely recommend if your passing by in a quiet location and plenty of parking. Large garden to the frontage catching the evening sun. Five stars and thanks to Molly for looking after me today. Very professional and superb service.

Visited today for lunch. Friendly, helpful staff who made you feel really welcome, so nice. I opted for the rare roast beef and horseradish ciabatta served with a side salad and crisps and my friend had the bubble and squeak topped with fried egg and smoked salmon and salad and of course a side of chips. Despite the fact that the pub was busy it arrived within about 10 minutes, beautifully presented and served with a smile. One of the nicest pub lunches we've had for a while.

Lunchtime. First visit to this pub. Very pleased. A warm atmosphere, real fire lit on a damp and cold December Friday. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect pint of Ranmore bitter. I had the chilli, others had fish and chips. All good. Hopefully will return again soon. Thanks!

A lovely venue, beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were warm and comfortable. The staff were in the main very friendly and helpful however the service was too slow with an hour wait between starters and mains. We ate from the Christmas menu which was a nicely varied menu with options for veggie and vegan. The beetroot salad starter was odd - serving it on a bed of raw oats was a mistake. It was truly indelibly unpleasant. The menu said it was granola however it was raw oats. They congealed, tasted floury, were unpleasantly soggy and chewy and ultimately not something to be repeated. The waitress agreed how unsuccessful the option was when I chatted with her about it. The Venison haunch, red wine and smoked bacon hotpot was absolutely swimming in grease. The meat was minced and unidentifiable as venison haunch, it could have been any red meat. Given the volume of grease it is perhaps reasonable to question if it was the infamously lean venison. Any bacon was also unidentifiable. Perhaps the grease had once been bacon…? The potato topping was quite dried out and meagre. The Butternut squash, beluga lentil and spinach pecan nut roast was also not good. There were a small amount of pale nuts but I would have struggled to identity them as pecans. I also found a piece of spinach but I couldn’t identify any lentils. It looked and tasted 90% breadcrumbs. The accompanying vegetables were really tasty as was the drizzle of gravy. Requesting additional gravy really saved this meal. For dessert the Black Forest waffle was pleasant but SO SO sweet. It did not need the addition of sickly sweet white chocolate. It would have been nicer with bitter dark chocolate and/or unsweetened cream. This is usually a nice pub with good food but something went wrong with the chef with the Christmas menu. No one should ever have to negotiate raw beetroot poorridge. Not that I am validating the idea of cooked beetroot porridge!!

Good beer and a nice location. Staff good and friendly. No food, but you can take your own in (apart from crisps and nuts). Function room available if required and food can be supplied if required.

Great spot for a morning coffee and a sweet treat, why not. Go there if you are in the area.
