No volver jamás.

Food was excellent, especially the steak pie - really, really nice. Pizza also recommended. Portions were generous though can be a wee wait for them - totally worth it. Place itself is ok, and there are some toys for kids to play with (for under 6s mostly). Staff are quite entertaining too. Would go back again.

My family and I are regular visitors to this pub/restaurant and have been for around 2 yrs. Dennis the owner has created a completely unique environment here where he not only looks after the adults but also bends over backwards to make the children enjoy them selves too. Very often there are kids entertainers booked, there is a toy corner to keep them busy while the adults can enjoy the fantastic, very fairly priced menu. Gad my sons Birthday lunch here during the Christmas period and they bent over backwards for us, giving out free ice creams and cake!!! Great wee sun terrace to enjoy a cold beer in the summer too.

Our group of 8 chose the Scaramouche for a catch up sunday lunch as we had a young baby in tow and it was advertised as family friendly. We were asked to order ahead, which we did. Our booking was for 1:30 but 2 of the group arrived at 1:45 and my 2 friends with the baby had a problem and only arrived at 1:50. As the first 3 people arrived before 1:30 they had been told that one of the options people had made was not available so to make another order, which the only person present at that time who ordered that did.At around 2 we went up to the waitress (who was very nice) to ask what the deal with food was, was it on the way or were we to order etc. She went to check at which point the lady who may be the manager/owner/similar came out. She proceeded to say that they had all the food on the order piping hot and ready to go at 1:30 when the table was booked for and they have had to throw it all in the bin and have already started on another batch of the same order because some of our party were late. She essentially shouted at us for messing them about, costing them money, ruining the day. The accusatory anger in her tone was frankly shocking, i've never experienced anything like it at a restaurant anywhere in the world, let alone just in Glasgow. At no point had anyone come to say anything to us about food or whether our party was present other than that one of the choices we selected wasn't available. To top it off she was evident moaning (to use a polite word) to the chefs about us afterwards. The young waitress was very nice to us but this older lady was absolutely atrocious. Our friends who organised it felt embarassed, apologising to the rest of us for choosing Scaramouche (not my friends' fault at all) and swore off the place for life. No restaurant anywhere has food ready to go exactly on the time a booking is for, let alone the fact that one of the options wasn't even on so they had no idea what we would order instead! Also once we were told the food had already been put back on again, it didn't come for another 40 minutes. Clearly had just been started then. If we sit down at 1:30 on the dot, you order a drink, get settled, talk to the waiting staff about the food. What she said to us was either a bare faced lie, or if that is truly how they run the restaurant then it is scandalously bad management.Normally if I have a bad experience I just don't go back. But this put a horrible atmosphere on a long awaited catch up amongst friends and shocked us all with how we were treated. A restaurant should not be allowed to run with this kind of person addressing customers this way. There are a huge amount of other great restaurants in this region of glasgow, go 1 minute down the road to finnieston instead of here.

I went in with my friend and 1 year old son, mid week at lunch time. The food was average pub fayre with very large portions at very reasonable prices. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to shout from the rooftops about. The menu is extensive, and had I taken my 4 year old too, I would have been able to choose from many children's options for him. I took my own food for my 1 year old, and the staff warmed and even asked if I needed bowls, spoons etc.The 'play area' is a great idea, and I have been to another pub that does a similar thing very well. However, it appeared that the area hadn't been updated recently. Toys were broken and the area was filthy. There was no way I was putting my one year old on the floor in the area and my house isn't the cleanest of the clean. Added to that there was another customer's (beautiful, and very friendly) dog running around. The dog had done a big poo in the middle of the pub! The dog was into everything, so probably spreading mess everywhere. As we were there mid week at lunchtime, many other customers were people from nearby offices. I got the impression that many were not happy to be sharing their lunch hour with a one year old, but who would? So, do you visit? It was ok, but I wouldn't go back midweek with children. There are far better pubs that cater for children in the area without the glares of office workers.

To this day i am not sure what i was doing ordering a salad in a pub but after this experience I am more inclined to do so in future. Really tasty, light, fresh and overall very nice. Everyone else seemed happy with their meals as well so all in all a good wee local.

We were staying at The Acorn Hotel next door and after a long day at 9pm, we didn't want to travel into town for a meal. These guys closed at 9pm, but still accommodated us with delicious meals and excellent service, so thank you!

Excellent service even though our party arrived in dribs and dabs. Orders taken quickly and regular visits from staff to take drinks orders. Food was lovely and very generous portions. Full marks to the chef for his chilli nachos, steak pie, fish pie, roast chicken, fish and chips, roast lamb and BLT - everyone enjoyed their lunch. The board games kept the two boys amused for the whole lunch - great idea. To top it off, a very reasonable bill with lemon sherbets. Definitely the place to go for a lazy Sunday lunch.

I brought my family here for Mother's Day this evening. The conversation throughout the meal and on the drive home from my parents was simply how excellent the quality of the ingredients, the way in which they were prepared and how they had an wonderful evening helped on by the people who work within scaramouche I can highly recommend for a beautiful meal and a great family experience. With us was my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she was a dream due to the fact she was given toys to play with by the scaramouche. From my point of view I left more relaxed than when I entered as normally having my daughter out for dinner I worry about everything from the way she will act due to restlessness and disturbing other guests through to the food available to her. Lexi was catered for so well to the extent when I was looking at the menu the waitress asked what I would like made for my daughter, if not on the menu they would tell the chef. I cannot rate this highly enough

I popped into the scaramouche with my partner cathie on a thursday afternoon for one drink before a meeting....the relaxing atmosphere with background music and the chat with dennis the owner convinced us to stay for 3 drinks lol.He is such a nice guy.....he took the time to chat to us across the bar very openly about his business and our proposed house move, yet this was the first time we had been in his establishment.....and before we left he asked our names and introduced himself as Dennis (I'm Tam(thomas) by the way). The bar/restaurant itself is very well laid out and larger inside than it looks outside. It is very upmarket inside yet as i looked at a board on the wall the food prices were very good (we fully intend going back to try the food menu)....as we didnt have the time.Looking at the surroundings i get the impression that in the evenings the clientelle would be very relaxed and respectable...............................................Thanks again for the welcome Dennis.

Visited here with friends and it's a lovely pub with great staff. Quite off the beaten track which it why it's good as does not get city center drinkers in which in my opinion is a good thing. I can recommend the pizza's and salads, yum. Will definately be back again.

I've been going to The Scaramouche for a couple of years now and love the place more and more each time. Why?The service is ALWAYS great, friendly and fast, the food is without fail always delicious and so affordable, which means we can enjoy a couple of drinks more there than in any other places. My friend had a birthday party in Scaramouche a couple of months ago, which I also attended and the amount of care and communication that has been put into the party from the moment of booking the table until the moment we all left was fantastic! But I'll get my friend to write her own review about her experience.I have primary school kid, who loves popping in there for some lunch after school with me. I guess it's the cartoons on TV, home-made pizza (£3.50 with soft drink, Bingo!), colouring-in books and all the toys they get to play with all afternoon... I noticed that bar staff always interact with all their customers, which is important for me as it shows they treat everyone with equal care, not just the regulars, plus it makes me feel very welcome - some bars don't seem to even care you are there, especially if you're with kids. There's a real friendly vibe in The Scaramouche every - something a lot of bars tend to lack in Glasgow. I was in Scaramouche last weekend for a Sunday Roast (28 day mature sirloin beef I must add) with my family and had to write this review after our last visit. The bar looks fantastic inside and outside after they had some work done to it, but they are also stepping up their game on the food and opening times... Can't wait to spend my mornings in the there with a croissant and coffee whilst doing some work on my laptop after dropping my little one off to school! 5 stars out of 5 for being so dedicated to improving and for accommodating to customers of all ages!See you after school! :)

Firstly I'd like to say that the staff were very friendly. I had to change my reservation at the last minute and they were very obliging and changed it straight away without any hassle. I booked for a Sunday lunch for myself, husband, baby daughter and 3 year old son, another couple and my gran. I read there was a play area and thought that would keep my son busy giving the adults peace to chat.On entering we were nearly defended be the noise of the screaming children running about. We quickly learned that there were 3 children's birthday parties that day, complete with clown and magic act. Which is a great idea, the children were all having a great time. BUT they only had 2 high chairs both of which were in use! 2? in a restuarant which caters for children? I had to feed her on my lap, which is not convienent when wanting to eat myself therefore she was passed between myslef and my husband the entire time we were there. We had to wait 15 minutes to be served (okay the place was packed). 3 of us had the Sunday roast which was unfortunately dry and tough. My gran couldn't eat it. I had the cottage pie, which was nice. My husband the lasagne which didn't taste nice at all, in fact it didn't taste of anything except mild cheese. My husband was the only one who felt like a desert. He took the cheesecake, which was very good. The staff acknowledged that we were not happy with the food and made a reduction in the bill. Which was nice, but I would have much rather have had good food than a reduction. I'm sure if there hadn't been 3 kids parties on at once, we would have enjoyed our visit but the noise was defening. The clown was loud which made the children even louder causing my daughter to cry. We could hold a conversation at the table even with the person sitting beside us. The only plus point on that particular day were the friendly staff. My advice would be, if wanting to go there for a meal, when making your reservation, remember to ask if there are any children's parties on :o)Saddly for us, becasue the food did not meet our expectations (other reviews) we won't be going back.

Heard so much about The Scaramouche Weekend Roast (lamb, chicken or beef), I had to try it for myself. Excellent value, great home-made food, super-fast service and great atmosphere! Kids seemed to get extra special attention which is unusual for a pub. Cartoons on TV (when football isn't on), free ice-lollies and sweets, lots of toys and space for them to play about. Can't wait to go back with family, co-workers and myself for more!Fantastic!

This is the second time I have popped in while waiting for an appointment and yet again I am impressed with the friendly service and the excellent food. The ambience is chilled and the overall feel is pleasant. I would give a 5 rating but have yet to spend a full evening or have a complete meal but the light bites I have had were top notch. I'll be back again.

Have been in a few times recently for lunch. Roast dinner was superb, good portions, hot and cooked very well as was the steak pie my partner had. Aurora works behind the bar, serves the food and takes the orders, but above all she makes you feel very welcome and is very professional. On last occasion they had no sweeteners for our tea - annoying in most places these days. On next visit Aurora had bought them when shopping on her own time and brought them in. Small thing to mention, but demonstrates the attitude, level of service and desire to get it right.Great food, great service, great attitude. Worth a visit.

Unfortunately I find this place has gone down hill significantly. Me and my husband have been regular visitors from when it first opened but I’d say from the past year it’s just not the same, the steaks have become smaller, the staff don’t seem very experienced in service and the lack of cleanliness of the toilets! Absolutely shocking. I went with my mother about a month or two ago and we booked a table for 5.30pm (opens at 4pm) the toilets had clearly not been cleaned from the night before and were disgusting to say the least. I had to hold my nose and watch where I stepped. The whole time the staff just standing about talking or sitting down on empty seats? Why not clean the filthy toilets. It’s gone down hill, staff has changed and it’s just not looked after like it was from the start.

Ross the member of staff today couldn't be More helpful. Came here today as my son had given me a gift voucher for wine and charcuterie. Excellent experience. Ross has to be so in love with his job. Gluten free not a problem. My wife was so impressed with service . Ross took the time to advise different dishes and showed different menus. The boars head croquettes were wonderful as was the pork. Equally stunning was the potato dish that Ross recommended to my wife. Free cocktail to the wife and a free pudding for me cos its my birthday. Wonderful service. We will.be back

Second time we’ve had burgers from here and they are phenomenal! Bacon perfectly crispy, burgers well cooked and juicy. They’re expensive but so amazingly tasty it doesn’t matter.
