Sawtry Balti House in Huntingdonshire

A big shout out to the friendly folks at The Bell - towed here after my car broke down they let me hang out with a hot chocolate and crisps well past their bedtime. Really kind and helpful….i’ll be back!

I ordered a chicken burger tonight from the bell sawtry and was disgusted at what I got for £9 it looked like it had been in someone’s back pocket and sat on all day.It was my first order and safe to say it will be my last.should’ve gone down the co op and bought a rustlers burger for 99p or got a burger from the new burger stand in coopers car park !!

Just had the Xmas menu. Wow what a meal amazing food and service. Cannot fault the meals or staff that looked after us on tues 12th Dec 2023 will definitely be returning x

I have just been here for my dinner with my friend from Scotland and had the best curry we have ever tasted. We would highly recommend the food and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and keep up the good work

Eaten in and had a takeaway since the new owners have taken over The Bell and the Nepalese infulence is very nice .Service very good and very good to have somewhere such as this in Sawtry long my it last !

Lovely restaurant-with parents both chefs, I always feel something is missing from most menus/meals however I was very pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the food served. The naan breads were beautiful and fresh, light and crisp and all the mains were excellent-everyone had clean plates-10 in our party. Tandoori’s king prawns exceptional also. Thanks for a lovely meal and will definitely visit again.

This is a sister pub to The Railway at Whittlesey, a regular haunt, we went to The Bell with family friends and were not dissappointed. The Nepalese food is just that bit different from Indian to make it interesting. It was superb. Service was very attentive. A bit of noise from mthe bar and music, but that was turned down when we asked. Its a vibrant atmosphere with Superb food and it does Take Away. Another BIG plus is they will change the strength of any dish if you don't like the heat, or want more, or change things round, like chicken instead ot King Prawn. All in all a great pub!

Hubby and I visited the bell for an impromptu curry. We arrived to be met by a friendly member of the bar team who directed us to a table. We ordered our food from an equally friendly member of the restaurant team. Food was really good and we both enjoyed our dishes- I had chicken jalfrezi, hubby had chicken vindaloo and we shared a plain naan. Staff were friendly and attentive and were genuinely appreciative of the good feedback we gave them. We will definitely visit again ( goat curry next time for me!) and it’s great to have this eatery in the village. I really hope people support it!

Had a family meal at the bell last night, and it was fantastic. Starters and main meals hot and tasty. Service as great. We will be back again. Great new addition to the village.

Four of us ate here on a Friday night. We pre booked, strongly advised as the restaurant was busy. Nice menu with lots of dishes to choose from. Also a few choices of non Nepalese food available. We had a choice of starters, samosas, dumplings, all very tasty. Mains we opted for traditional dishes. We had a vegetarian in our group and she had as no issues finding suitable dishes. The staff were really nice and the service excellent. The portions excellent and tasty. As other reviewers have suggested , it would be nice to perhaps to try and “soften up” the restaurant, few pictures/photos on the walls. There was music playing which for me was a little to loud and we struggled to hear each other. SkY TV was on with no sound, so good if you want to eat and watch a sporting event. As some of the dishes come out on sizzling hot plates the air did become a bit smoky. Would recommend this venue for nice food and friendly service.

Couldn’t wait for some life and energy to be ploughed into the spit and sawdust pub in the village. Our table consisted of four couples and although we set off to a slow start as some of the party was delayed, it didn’t stop us from having a great time. The staff were friendly and didn’t mind that we had to wait to rake our order. The food was hot, quick to be served a delicious. The only criticism we had was that the spit and sawdust feel was still there. We did feel like we were sitting a soulless magnolia box. We no curtains, pictures on the walls or decorative effects the room was very basic and echoey. Can’t fault the food or the service, just needs some money spent on the look and feel of the place

The new management took over a couple of months ago. They've refitted the kitchen and started serving on 14 September after a taster offering on the 13th. Excellent food and service. The team aslo run the Railway Arms in Whittlesey

I’ve heard about the Nepalese food from colleges who live in the village. They weren’t wrong! The food made it all the way back to Bishops Stortford and I earnt lots of “Brownie “ points as it was delicious!

Undet new management just had dinner absolutely fantastic meal well worth the money and floor staff were so friendly

Totally unfriendly barman. Walked in and he only spoke to confirm the ales available. Rather than serve us he turned away and fiddled around until a local came to the bar whom he served while he still ignored us. We walked out.

Best Indian takeout by far. I ordered the sawtry special set for 2 and it was excellent! The portions were great and food was perfectly spiced.

Popped in for a pint and had hot dogs and chips. Food was amazing beer was awesome the guys have worked hard to open hats off to them both.

Very disappointed with the take away from here. Wanted to support a local business at these difficult times. They did not read, or ignored a request on the online order. Korma was very runny and tasteless, full of potato. King prawn biryani included baby prawns, runner beans and sweetcorn, almost no taste and little in the way of spices. Neither of us have not eaten it all so wasted food. Not what we were hoping for at the price. We would not spend our money here again. Appreciate these are tough times but this was very poor value for money.

Considering this is attached to the pub this takeaway is awesome. Chicken tikka Ceylon and king Prawn Pathia all day long

Ordered 2x doner kebabs, having tried another takeaway in the village a few weeks previously we thought this would be much better - unfortunately not. Salad consisted of lettuce, one slice of cucumber and one quarter of tomato. No red cabbage, onion or chilli. Asked for chilli sauce on both and additional garlic mayo on one of them. One came with chilli sauce and the other with just garlic mayo. I phoned through to place the order and wanted to pay by card but was informed that could only pay by cash on delivery. This is contradictory to what is advised on the website and printed material. Really disappointed in this takeaway and others that are in sawtry. We will be ordering from outside the village in future.

The pizza was so salty. I was gagging for water the next day. It's really put me off making any future orders. Hopefully a one off as normally so good.

King curry knocks it out the park again. 1 Rogan josh and one chicken tikka masala ordered and we were incredibly pleased. We'll be back.

Picked up another takeaway tonight. Always a good meal and generous portions. A nice welcome from Naz on my weekly visits.

No puedo recomendar este llevar suficiente. Uno de los mejores de pollo Shashlik. Siempre pedazos de pollo y ensalada fresca. He tenido otras curris de aquí también y siempre ha estado impresionado y más que satisfechos. Entrega a tiempo y con personal agradable y Baz el propietario siempre está amable y servicial a sus peticiones. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Probé el Balti hace años la casa y nunca volvimos porque el pollo estaba insípida y plaza, la salsa grasosa y salada y no me pareció bien y el pan de ajo con un terrible propagación empapados a ajo. Después de la reapertura que pensé que iba a intentarlo. No desearía tener. Lo mismo, excepto el naan era ligeramente mejor. Yo no se que le da otro ir.

Ordered a rube from nas, was spot on the best curry for miles from the 'king curry' himself 100% reconmend you can go in an order and have a pint whilst its cooking.

Siempre hemos pedido desde aquí, ya que mover a la población, con la excepción de cuando el pub y por lo tanto llevar cerrado por un número de meses y tuvimos que tratar de encontrar algo cerca tan bueno como este. Nos fracasado rotundamente como no creo que nada podría superar estos currys.

Glad that naz is back, he does a lovely range of food, I love his kebabs, they could do with more salad though! Not a bad word to say

Another great dinner Very prompt service within the specified time. We had between the 5 of us 2 pizza's, 2 curries and a chicken pita, all spot on. Great meal.

Regularmente objeto de ellos y hacer un buen trabajo. Se puede tomar un poco para llegar a usted en horas punta pero que es puramente a su popularidad. Que hacer una comida y un precio razonable. Sin duda volveremos otra vez.

very good and tasty food, good selection, English quick food or typical Indian, Punjabi to my taste. You can collect from pub or Naz will deliver it or get it delivered. Food is always hot and tasty and delivered with a smile and a hello

Have ordered a couple of takeaways from here and not been disappointed yet. Ordered for a specific time and it was pretty much dead on time! Food was delicious (butter chicken and prawn fried rice). Will order again!

We have just ordered a takeaway from here for the first time. We ordered a meat dish and a vegetable dish. Both were literally swimming in oil- it was overflowing the dish. As such couldn't taste any of the spices and flavours of the dishes. The oil left a nasty film in my mouth. After attempting to eat it, we have ended up throwing it away barely half eaten- we never throw food away! The naan bread was nice however and the only edible part of the takeaway. Will not be ordering from here again.

Just eaten here with my family. All our dishes were delicious and the service by Naz was excellent, and as described in other reviews. Note: you eat in the pub, so you can eat in either the pub, the family room, or outdoors. A good choice especially on a warm summer evening. Point for improvement: The mushrooms in the mushroom bhaji were tinned and a bit chewy/rubbery.

I have said it all in the headline. Great food, terrific service, you are always glad to have spoken to Naz. He can be rushed off his feet and usually is but he always knows who you are and has time for you. Nothing is too much trouble for him and his brilliant staff. The very best Indian take away food anywhere.

Have ordered many different dishes and all are very good. Never disappointed. Time given for pick up or takeaway is always accurate. Polite efficient service.
