Savoy Restaurant in Carmarthenshire

Stopped here for some food with family and even though I haven’t been there in ages it’s still very good in there. The woman who took our order was very friendly and nice. Prices were good and the food was outstanding.

I honestly can't recommend this place to anyone. The level of cleanliness was appalling, everything just seemed dirty, even down to the salt and vinegar shakers and it's dreadfully dated, the toilet had black mould wall to wall, we found the staff massively rude, we asked very simple questions and getting blunt, 1 worded answers back. The portion sizes are abysmal, chip shops are meant to be affordable, filling meals, instead we wasted an awful amount of money on child sized portions. I hated the fact that my meal was literally swimming in gravy, they really should give the customer the option on how much gravy they want their chips to drown in. Nothing was enjoyable about this place, it was drab and dreary, with absolutely no life or soul to be found. I used to love going here as a child so we thought taking my son here 20 years later would be a lovely piece of nostalgia, I literally couldn't have been more wrong, it's sad to see it's decline. Please don't waste your time and money.

Asked if I could have a small meal, as I don’t have much of an appetite after being ill, the owner replied “No small meals are for under 10s”. I explained I wouldn’t eat a full meal but he just turned his back to us. £10.60 later for a can of pop and sausage beans and chips , which half was wasted as I couldn’t eat it. My friend then arrived where they had two jumbo sausages and chips a rissole and 5 nuggets and 2 cans of pop of a grand total of £25!! I’m sorry but I’m one to support local businesses but the attitude from the owner and the price on stuff, I think we’ll find another chippy. We also went to use one of the high chairs which was dirty. When we think we could have gone around the corner to go to a chain restaurant and have 4 meals for £15 and would have had great service and the meals that we would have wante. It does make you think why support local when the owner wasn’t fussed on keeping us there.

Went for a late lunch with my husband as I fancied pie and chips in Savoy. Havnt nmbeen there for years and they used to be the Hest chips un town.Have to say that in my opinion they still are. Service was really quick, the food was piping how which my husband and I both like, food was delicious and the portions were huge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the decor could do with an upgrade and it wasn't very warm in there, I didn't mind that as some places I find are too warm but it might put older customers off.

Took my disabled mum for rissole and a coffee, she's been looking forward to for days, he said we weren't eating with her so we couldn't sit inside with her and she wasn't allowed a single rissolle that she had to have a full meal..she said she doesn't eat that much and was adamant she had to only eat a meal, I left and went over road cafe bar across road and had to leave her there ...not helpful at savoy at all to.disabled People and very rude

Visited the iconic savoy for a spot of lunch with my two children (age 8 & 10), children meals were excellent, plenty of choice. Tried the famous rissole, tasted exactly as I remember 40 years ago! Restaurant was clean, served very quickly by a polite lady. Can’t rate this highly enough!

Called in for a spot of lunch with my 3 kids. Toasted sarnies are lovely! Rissole & chips were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Visited the savoy this week, had fish & chips…..food was first class! Service from two lovely ladies couldn’t have been better. Super clean and tidy place. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Fantastic lunch at the Savoy again! We both chose the cod and weren’t disappointed, the fish was fresh and white and the batter was light and golden - definitely the best for miles!!! We had ours with yummy homemade chips and mushy peas, slice of lemon, tartare sauce and a proper cup of tea. The service was excellent, friendly and welcoming, e would definitely recommend this gem and are looking forward to next time. Ps easy access for prams, wheelchairs etc

Last made a review back in 2017 all good then,how it’s changed popped in for rissole and chips to take away £4.80 what a rip off rissole £2.chips £2.80.when the lady served me I told her that chips weren’t fresh she said it’s the potatoes.rissole was dry as well ate half of chips left the rest.god knows how much it would have been to sit in.

I remember the savoy as a kid and how busy and fantastic the chips were. That was 20 years ago, I went in today and was saddened to see that it was staffed by 3 teenagers no adult to be seen, the decor was extremely dated and some of the walls needed a good scrub. We were given our food without the cutlery and the kid gave us a sullen attitude because he had to go back for our cutlery. The food was awful, the fish was overdone, the chips were bland and I couldn’t drink the coffee as there was hardly no milk in it and boiled my lips. I did have to help one of the teenager staff with the coffees as he was struggling to carry it and he overfilled the mugs. Only my 2 year old liked her beans on her plate lol. The toilet had a window full of cobwebs that looked like something out of Halloween. It’s a shame as I used to love the savoy as a kid. I really hope they redecorate and maybe put an adult on shift.

Was mulling over the menu when I witnessed one of the staff being unreasonably rude to two customers. The first customer was only asking how long his food was going to take to be brought to his table The other was a youngster who did not realise a take away meal could jot be eaten on the premises Both customers could have easily been dealt with politely rather than the rude manner they were. I decided to take my business elsewhere, and will continue to do so when in Llanelli Town centre.

I called in here on my way to the rugby league at Stebonheath Park. Friendly prompt efficient customer service, delicious filling plate of food, and cheap too. I'll come back here when I visit Llanelli for rugby union

Spacious venue in need of redecoration. Basic chip shop food of average quality and taste. Nothing to write home about and we won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Better off popping down the road to Dhamis or visiting any other of the lovely cafes in town. Tiny portions at extortionate prices. The child's portions were exactly the same size as the adults. Far better places in town.

Not for years have i enjoyed chips this much. Service was very quick. Food was piping hot. Chips were properly cooked, soft and not greasey. even this bits were soft and very edable. Staff were super friendly and chatty.Why cant all places be this good. Shame im not local. Id go alot more. Very cheap too

I ordered a chips on its own and 2 rissoles and when I got home it was a squashed rissole with chips .. £3.10 charged ... disgusting! Charged for food that we didn't receive.. won't be going back 😡😡😡😡😡

made a complaint about a bad taste with the fish ,fobbed off by two staff women, that it just came out of the fridge ,was not offered an alternative option, as a regular here that's bad after spending £10.00.pouds.

Been here a few times when i was doing training at the LRC and always enjoyed the takeaway. but visited there with my girlfriend the on the saturday just gone and as always the food was lovely but the Lady who served us was quite the opposite my girlfriend made a small mistake and the look and the tone of voice she talked to her was not acceptable and even when bringing the food she seemed to care nothing about good quality service so feel very let down hopping next time we go if we do that the service is improved

En el Savoy llamado hoy por primera vez en muchos años. La comida y el servicio eran tan fantástico como siempre. Mi esposa y yo tuvimos el faggots con guisantes blandos, chios y salsa, mientras que nuestro hijo tenía una casa igual de sabroso pastel de pollo - hecho. Las cenas de asado también son, junto con otras ofertas y el típico "fish and chips".

Estábamos visitando Llanelli no te saldría, y visitar las relaciones que decidimos entrad en el Savoy para el almuerzo. Fue mi primera visita, y no sabía que esperar ya que no estaba seguro de si se trata de una cafetería o restaurante, chips. Me pareció que la respuesta fue que las tres.

El personal está siempre dispuesto y servicial, el servicio de atención al cliente significa todo aquí! La casa curry de pollo es deliciosa. El sobresaliente especial es igual de bonito. Puedes pedidos telefónicos a través de ellos si estás en un grupo o en una prisa. Estoy a menudo en prisa así que este lugar es genial.

If I'm famished, I will call here as its hearty food on a budget, quite a few things to choose from but I like the rissoles and chips

very impressive from the word go.seen to straight away our order taken by this efficientwaitress.no sooner had we sat down our meals were brought to us on more than ample sized plates together witha free coffee.we both had cod and chips the cod was the b est i have eaten no batter the real product.the young waitress who served us was good and friendly .will most certainly come to the savoy again well done as we left we were wished well a rarity these days

nice bite to eat , convenient to town , nice staff . local chip restaurant and coffee stop . will visit again .

we walked into the grill basically to see if anything had changed since our lat visit years ago.it looked the same and when we ordered our food, it came several minutes later showing us it was fresh.it was a plate full, full till it was falling off the plate

I love going here for a cheeky takeaway but it depends who is working on the quality of the food. There is 2 lovely women that work there that give great customer service and make everything just right but when the younger staff are on the food and attitude is not the standard you expect when you are spending money there.

The best lunch we have had at the Savoy my wife and i had 2 roast lunches which were beautiful fresh and well served also quick friendly service throughout and on leaving we were wished well and thanked for our custom

This place used to the beat for food. Staff don't smile end of and very expensive but if you get passed that food was delicious but now it's gone down nothing tastes like it did years ago, so will not be returning

as i hadn't been to the savoy for years all 3 of us went to lunch on saturday 31.1.2015 we ordered three meals at the counter.The service was quick and the food good,the place wasclean

Went here on carnival night last year with our two grandchildren, asked for two childrens portions and two adults, was told sorry dont do childrens portions on carnival night. Payed for four adult portions which came on the smallest adult plate I have ever seen. They will never have the pleasure of ripping me off a second time. My advice don't go there

Decided to take my daughter for a walk into town centre. My husband had mentioned very fond memories of eating at the Savoy as a little boy with his grandmother so I thought I would buy some chips for our lunch. The price for the amount they served up in the to go box was fantastic BUT the quality of the chips was abysmal. They were cold and greasy and tinged with a sickly greenish yellow. They tasted like old refried chips. Had to throw the entire tray in the bin. My toddler summed it up best, "Chips taste nasty! Blah!"

We had to call again, we hadn't been here for years.The place doesn't change, that smell of fish and chips being freshly cooked!!The taste is the same to, fresh, crunchy batter,still a good meal
