Sauce And Flour in Windsor and Maidenhead

Just had a lovely comfort food meal here. Lamb special ragu for starter, cheesy lamuche (I think) with -well effectively pancetta. And salted caramel tart and chantilly cream. I had an old fashioned, a bottle of montepulciano and a pudding wine. Delicious. And the first time I’ve been told a restaurant is fully booked - I was sat in the window - and it was totally true. The restaurant was packed so I should book in advance.

Since Covid19 ruined our lives for few years, I find myself rarely think, let alone say, “coooor that was great value”. If anything, I have become so accustomed to a £7 pound pint and £17 starter that I have almost forgotten the ‘good old days’. Then came along Sauce and Flour. The is not a review based on price. Sauce and Flour is a perfect restaurant. The starters, WOW. The nduja meatballs are incredible. The croquettes are amazing; don’t get me started on the prawns. Pasta for main course, the Shin of Beef ragu is superb. Everything is made fresh in an open kitchen. I don’t need to say anything else. The wine list is well thought out and sensibly priced. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is the epitome of cool with an atmosphere to match. It is busy and popular, booking is a must! The first time I ate here I came back consecutively for three days. I have been countless times and will go countless more. Congratulations guys, you should be so chuffed with what you have built. Perfect.

I confess this is one of our local restaurants and has been for the last couple of years. I just want to thank the guys for yet another fabulous meal in wonderful surround as always a great vibe. Never ever a bad dish, fresh, innovative and simple the best. Flavio is a master in the kitchen, Sandra charm personified and Andreas who never ever misses a beat, thanks again guys. Kev & Di. X

We dined here last night with friends. It was a return visit. Food was excellent. Prawn linguine delicious service, polite and perfect atmosphere. Great! We will return

We had the most wonderful lunch at Sauce and Flour! The restaurant has an authentic rustic feel. The menu offers a range of Italian starters and homemade pasta mains. Food was executed excellently at a very reasonable price (they would be worth 50% more to me). The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Overall, Sauce and Flour is an outstanding restaurant on all fronts - no wonder it is hard to get a booking! Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a special meal, this place is a must-visit.

We sent back the Zucchini fritter starter that were 1mm strips that had dissolved in the batter, so you just got a mouth full of oil. However the meatballs on toast and the croquettes in fairness were delicious. Main courses, the beef ragu was outstanding, beautiful dish full of flavour, but both the sausage dishes had this awful grit texture. At first I thought it was those disgusting refried onion flakes, but it materialised it was deep fried breadcrumbs that were inedible and ruined both dishes. Where anywhere in Italy have you been served gritted breadcrumbs thrown all over a pasta dish ? I agree with the other review it is so noisy in the restaurant that you have to shout across the table to engage in any conversation, but every table was full at the time. Bit a shame overall, the lighting is right and its a pleasant set up, but gritty breadcrumbs on any pasta dish and thin shrivelled courgette in batter just doesn’t work!

Visited the restaurant on the recommendation of my wife’s friend. Great advice as the food was lovely and the service attentive. Special mention to the nibbles selection as I could of had plateful’s of the croquettes, especially the beef and macaroni cheese ones.

A really fantastic experience. Visiting family in the area we visited twice. Both occasions were perfect. Staff extremely friendly, efficient and professional. The food was probably the best Italian we have had. An imaginative menu with all the dishes being fresh and full of flavour. A good wine list too. Looking forward to our next visit
