Great meal here tonight. Excellent food & friendly service.

I have been sampling Jungle Curry in many towns & cities for years along with other Thai dishes and have to say for me, Saro's are the best for authenticity, taste, quality of ingredients and value for money. In an ideal World I would have a jungle curry every day, with a takeaway on a Sunday as the.yvsre closed on Mondays. Quite often I achieve this on a weekly basis 😂

We had a quick lunch here today and the food was outstanding! One of the best green curries we’ve ever had and the crispy pork belly was delicious as well!! A great find and we will definitely be back!

So delicious. I’ll never forget the taste and will try next time again.

This is an amazing place for someone looking for an authentic Thai food experience! Everything we tried was fresh and delicious, namely the pad Thai, chicken satay, fried rice and a coconut sour soup. Our 2yo daughter enjoyed them too. The service was quick and friendly and the prices very amicable. I highly recommend them!

As a creature of habit I have the tofu pad thai and it is excellent, the staff are good and it's cooked fresh and quickly Infront of you.

I came here yesterday Sunday evening to have dinner and chill out , this was my second visit as a friend took me last time and I said the food was great can’t believe I didn’t know about this place sooner, even ordered the pork meal once to my work place on Uber eats. Will come here more often

Lovely little cafe, friendly service and great value

So pleased we found this place. Best Thai food we’ve had in ages. Freshly prepared - you can see the food being cooked. Generous portions. Green curry was really creamy and with a good amount of heat. My favourite was the sea bass and mango salad - beautiful crisp battered sea bass with fresh mango in a hot dressing - awesome. Would go out of our way to eat here again. 10/10

Best thai food ever. From singapore and here for an exchange, tried this almost weekly for 5 months. Authentic thai food and as a foodie whose taste buds have quite high expectations, this really exceeds my expectations and their food quality is always constant! Will be gone soon :( Will miss the food. Come singapore pls!!! Love your curries and pad thai

One of my favourite Thai restaurants in the UK. Mainly because it has Crispy pork belly basil stir fry (Ka Prao Moo Krop) which seems so hard to find sometimes. All the dishes we’ve tried are always delicious. My partner works in Portsmouth and he has a Saro’s weekly!

Found this little gem when trying to find somewhere to eat. The service and the quality of the food was amazing. Could not recommend highly enough.

I crave soro’s food every week, coconut rice with crispy chicken is to die for.

Wow! I would never imagined to have such great a food in such a small place. The chicken rice coconut is delicious.

AVOID! We went nearly an hour before closing and the food and service was awful. We were told after being sat down that kitchen closes in 10mins and to order the starters and mains together. Fair enough but when the food arrived it looked like they added all the scrap vegs to make our food. The Thai curry was watery with big chunks of broccoli and courgette and about 4 pieces of chicken. We couldn't find any of the Thai spices or herbs and it looked like they added chilli powder to water and added vegetables and let it all boil! We have been to a number of Thai restaurants within Portsmouth and England this was one the worst Thai food ever. The customer service was non-existent. The young lady behind did not greet or smile when we were enter the restaurant, not a single smile or thank you throughout the service. We have a young child with us and when I asked if I could get some plain noodles by any chance she pointed at the pad Thai! Awful place, £45 wasted and won't ever return! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!

The food here takes me right back to Thailand—the pork belly on rice and som tum are just like what you'd find on the streets there. It really brings back memories of Thai street food. I'll definitely be coming back.

usually I’m too lazy to leave reviews but the food I ordered was so delicious I had to send my compliments, I ordered the crispy pork for takeaway and it was one of the best crispy pork’s I’ve ever had & im a serial crispy pork enthusiast lol the customer service was great too the staff are lovely I’ll definetly be back

I highly recommend Saro's food the best Thai food I had in UK, just visiting Portsmouth last weekend and I dine for two consecutive days and even order a take away to bring it wiith me at home 100 miles away. So delicious and comforting meal and excellent family team service.

Saro’s is the definition of quality! I’ve been to a bunch of Thai places but I honestly believe that Saro’s is one of THE best Thai places I’ve been to in the UK. The aesthetics of the place are absolutely lovely as well. The place screams quality and authenticity! Highly recommend it to anyone who’s a Thai Food lover. It is on the slightly pricier side, but it’s worth every penny!

The place is hidden. The name donot show up if u reach there by map. U need to stand just opposite to the Iceland and check the glassed entrance behind the bus stop. It is hidden gem , literally untill they lit the hoardings in the their name, which I could not find on that evening of our family visit. However , The food was delicious, the ambiance is nice , and the choices are very well laid. We all loved it. Parking can be done at the St John’s church parking space which is the only best option near by. Good interiors and feel good ambience. Hope to make a visit soon. Again.

Just ordered food delivery from this place, and it’s horrible! Have to throw it away, food is not edible, overcooked and colourless and it’s shocking how this place has been rated 5 stars on google maps and Deliveroo, it’s not worth even one star and is absolutely misleading. Moreover, food arrived in plastic containers and plastic bag wrapped with cling film and sealed with sellotape, no attention to sustainability and absolutely disgusting. **This is in response to your business reply to our previous review: Thank you for your prompt reaction to our review. As requested these are more details: About the soup, this is not a 5 star soup with full button mushrooms and baby tomatoes floating, vegetables are not even cut, how can you eat it, fish them out from that coconut water and take a bite and drop it back? Food is colourless in a sense that it’s overcooked, spring rolls are dark brown colour, almost burnt and soaked with too much frying oil, nobody who cares about their health would eat them, and vegetables in a stir fry lost their colour due to overcooking. Not sustainable in a sense that all is delivered in plastic - plastic containers, plastic bag, cling film plus sellotape, we have never seen anyone providing food in sellotaped containers. There are containers which are sustainable and leak proof. We had to reorder our dinner from another Thai restaurant and took a picture of their containers which have reduced usage of plastic and their soup doesn’t leak from them. We add picture here, hope that can help your business to improve.

Great food, never been disappointed

Lovely little Thai café, the service is personal and attentive and the food is out of this world. I had Crispy Pork Belly in Chilli and Spices with Rice, my wife had Crispy Chicken breast with Katsu Curry sauce and rice. First Class! Will definitely be eating here again when we return to Portsmouth.

Very nice and they serve what local Thai people eat. Nice atmosphere too. Very clean. I think they need more staff to work and provide services as they seemed to be very busy.

This is a very good restaurant, the food is always at the high level, the pork leg rice is my favorite, yummy yum!!!!! Recommend to everyone :)

Grade A food, freshly cooked and excellent service. I thoroughly recommend this cafe. There are starters, mains and kids meals. They do not do desserts though but not necessary as the food is plentiful. I did not see any way for wheelchairs to get in but I wasn't looking. Even before we ordered, we were asked about potential allergies.

Took my sister out for dinner and we both had the Chicken Pad Thai, it was really lovely. The last time I had a good Pad Thai, I was in Thailand.

Another pot luck find. We were attending a music event at the Guildhall, and not being local searched Google for somewhere to eat beforehand and decided to try it. We arrived after 5 and it was already pretty busy. We hadn't booked but only being 2 they luckily had an unreserved table. Pork dumplings & duck spring rolls for starters. Then Pad Med Ma Muang & Chicken Katsu Curry Freshly prepared, piping hot and lovely crispy coatings. Staff were friendly and efficient and a sweet touch on the way out, the chefs thanked US for our thanks 🙂 Definitely on our list to revisit if we are in the area again.

I ordered today green curry and other gluten-free dishes from Uber eats. Dishes arrived after two hours. They contain gluten and make me very sick. Very oily curry. I would not recommend that restaurant.

Such amazing food and great service at Saro’s. We had the Pork Belly which was beautiful. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Was absolutely delicious. We were visiting Portsmouth but we will go again next time we are down. Throughly recommend.

Saro's has some truly authentic Thai dishes that I've only seen in Thailand. That being said they're not quite executed as well but it is nice to see them on the menu. The red BBQ pork was chewy. Not good. The knuckle though was flavorful and still tender. Will I keep coming back? Yes and I do. I the the chewy pork may have been a one-off. It happens.

The food here was really quite poor especially considering the price. The battered squid was not seasoned at all and very greasy. The curry was bland and lacked flavour. Really disappointed as the previous time I ordered, the food was good. I won't be ordering from here again.

Food was good and was served on time. However, it was a bit disappointing as we were given the wrong starter and there was no fan/aircon in the seating area. Very stuffy and we started sweating while we were eating.

Amazing quality of food. Had starters, Tom yam, mains and papaya salad and coconut rice to test it out and each course was superb. I included a photo of one of the wings cos it was french trimmed and I've never seen a French trimmed wing before. The attention to detail is phenomenal. Coconut rice was best I've ever had. Standout dish was probably the weeping tiger as the sirloin could be cut with a spoon, it was that tender. We will definitely be going again to try different things on the menu as we played it a bit safe.
