Huge selection of beers. Drinks we had were lovely. Muscles were lovely. No grit or sad and were soft not chewy. Waffle burger was dry and chips were burnt compared to the other photos on their review. Pork was soft but skin wasn’t very crunchy. The medley of mash and veg along with the sauce was delicious though! Loved the fact service change is optional (obviously gave a tip). Staff were friendly and happy to help.

Food was absolutely lovely, I would have had the mushrooms on their own, ordered the steak et frites, steak cooked really well, cheese sauce is lovely, peppercorn sauce really nice, and proper chips mmm. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu, would recommend.

Excellent food with whopping portions! Great place to stop off for a quiet beer in the afternoon or for a meal out with friends in the evening. Great beer selection & atmosphere all-round!

I genuinely cannot fault it without being unrealistic its a lovely decorated place quite small which explains bookings are needed to dine at dinner at least but this also means the service is quick and attentive! Really nice waiters the best steak I've ever had I mean it very juicy and perfectly medium cooked 😋

Really surprised. Food was delicious and had a great selection of beers, that as someone who doesn't like beer, I even enjoyed. Service was great, staff were very good at offering recommendations and had very good knowledge of the menu. The onion soup was phenomenal. Will definitely be returning!

This has to be one of my most favourite places to eat in Pompey. I love love love the Pork! Mmmmmm! And of course the amazing selection of beer! Try it !

Came here for my partners birthday meal and had an incredible time. The staff were so friendly and gave great customer service, the drinks were great and the food was unreal. It’s pricey but completely worth it.

The biggest selection of Belgian brew is in this cosy little place. Food was delicious and service was good. It is a small place so book in advance if you want to visit.

The service was impeccable and an impressive feat of exceptional recall. The food was absolutely delicious and the beers outstanding. when I am next in southsea I will be trying the other items on the menu. Had a slab of pork belly with the truffle dauphinois potatoes and a cider jus even writing this review it’s making my mouth water again.

This is a hidden gem, the Belgiums can’t have it back, it belongs to Hampshire now ! Great hearty food, drink and service.

The food and drinks were great, however there was a small issue with the waiter trying to remember 4 orders without writing them down, which meant part of the order was incorrect when brought out. Also due to the table being restricted to 2 hours and the time frame of each course being delivered, when it came to dessert being ordered and brought to the table, it was brought up by the service staff that it might overrun the 2 hour timeslot. This however resulted in the dessert being delivered and then told the table was available for only 10 minutes more which was extra to the 2 hour agreed slot, although we were able to finish the dessert in this time it feels if there is a 2 hour slot they should ask at the beginning if you are planning a 1,2 or 3 course meal as this might ensure meals are brought out at an appropriate time to allow for all 3 courses to be enjoyed within the 2 hour time slot, without having to worry about being moved to a less acceptable seating position.

Just had my second visit to this restaurant. The first time was excellent and this time was even better if that is possible. Food was fantastic, very moreish but you can only eat just so much pork belly. Our waitress Lauren was wonderful, very pleasant and helpful. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.

A very nice venue with a great design and vibe inside. The moules, duck confit and celeriac schnitzel were nice but nothing particularly amazing in our opinion… it seems there is a focus on presentation and unique flavours like adding blackberries on the side of the duck confit instead of flavour. The kitchen seems small. Anyway, we had a lovely night here still and we would come back maybe to try the fries.

We were looking for somewhere different to eat & Huis didn't disappoint, excellent food & the beer & gin went down nicely as well. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing food! We had a big range of different dishes and they were all incredible! The service was very warm and the waffles are insane!

I had the pork belly and my partner had the burger. I have to say both were delicious, but my pork was super delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and the beers were also lovely. Very generous portion sizes. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. We live in Southsea so will definitely be returning!! We did return and it was delicious. Make sure that you book as it is always super busy.

My wife had the 'Belgium' onion soup and a stew dish. Both were extremely salty. My wife does like a lot of salt, more than I, so when I tried it, I found it almost unedible. My steak and chips, however, were very good.

Super evening at Huis for a birthday celebration. Food was excellent a d worth the price, and as for beers would recommend trying the Kwak. Will hopefully be back at Huis soon!

Had a wonderful meal and some nice beers with my mum and little sister. Be warned - the portions are huge! The food is very tasty, and well prepared. Went for a starter and a main for lunch and wow was it good, just so much food. The owner was very pleasant and happy to chat, there was also a cheerful lady with him and they joked that he knows all about beer, and her food. I will definitely be returning, and likely the evening so I have more room to eat!! Saw a pud being served and it looked divine too, shame I was too full to try one. Thanks :)

Always have a great time here. Easy to reserver tables, service is always brilliant. Food is always amazing, I'm vegetarian so they don't have many options but I always go for the mushroom crocque and ta to die for! Great selection of beers always.

Cosy little restaurant with a ton of beers. Meetballs were cooked just right and the satay sauce worked well with it.

A gem of a Belgian bar. The cherry croque and waffle burger were excellent, their own beers are very good and the choice of bottles is excellent - we particularly enjoyed the chocolate cherry sour.

Been wanting to try this place ever since getting back from Belgium in December for a few days away. Tried this place spontaneously last night and was not disappointed. The traditional chips and large choice of Belgian beers took us right back to Gent! The staff were so friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. I can't wait to come back and try more of the food (and beer!) Would definitely book next time but was extremely pleased we did manage to grab some food as a walk in!

Southsea’s best independent! This place never disappoints, staff are always so warm and friendly, massive selection of drinks expertly paired with any of the meals. Specials are regularly updated and you are never rushed out of your table. New favourite, Bloody Mary moules! See you again soon guys.

Really good! Felt authentic. Everything you'd expect from a Belgian restaurant. We had the sharing platter on the specials menu, which was lovely but did get major food envy when the table next to us Mussels arrived. They looked and smelled amazing! Beer selection was top notch. Staff were friendly and helpful despite it getting increasingly busier during our visit due to it being lunchtime. We visited on a Saturday and did not book a table. Think we were lucky to get a seat so would recommend booking. A few disappointed people were unable to get a table shortly after we arrived. We were too full to try the deserts but they all sounded amazing. We will be back. 😁

Look, I'm not happy. To start this review I would to sincerely state the positive facts in the experience: My husband was offered water when he was choking on his 8% beer, also they have delicious Liendermans and other Beligium craft beer. My friend Rachel will go back! As for me, I shan't ever return despite the other friendly bartender who gave my husband a free beer. As for me, I'm venting and unhappy due to the genuine lack of coat hooks at the bar. But that's nothing... How would you feel arriving at a nearly empty establishment and being told "There are no tables" in this sub antarctic temperature (the air conditioner was set to '#@%*&! you' minus 2). We were sat at the bar, with zero people filling the multitude of no tables. Also there was no lego like there usually is. Basically, my rant here is I WAS LIED TO, cold, and disappointed. This has nothing to do with the fact that I wanted to sit at the bar and not at a table (so actually there was no problem). But it has everything to do with the guy with the long beard lying to me. I was so proud of myself for holding my tongue and not creating a scene. In all honestly, it would have been nice just to have been asked to sit at the bar. Just say, please sit at the bar. #seriousnotserious

Highly recommend. The beer selection is incredible and the staff are very knowledgeable and more than happy to help. Nice setting, quite intimate and lots of interesting decorations going on. Staff are friendly and good for a chat, if you want. Get the Pork Belly - you won't regret it!

Can’t believe I’ve been a student here for 3 years and only have discovered this place on the day of my graduation. I don’t usually do reviews but never have I seen my family all be in agreement that everything was spot on. The portion sizes, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food you would most definitely be comparable to top restaurants in Belgium/brussles. Yes it’s slightly pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Only draw back was how long the food took but there was 5 of us and everything came out fresh and hot so we can completely sympathise why it took some time. Thank you for brining my journey in Portsmouth to a tasty end. We will definitely be back soon hopefully 🤞🏻 Tot ziens!

The best meal out I’d had all year ! I had the steak and Dauphinoise potatoes - cooked to perfection and the flavours were incredible ! Peppercorn sauce to die for. Lovely, friendly, informal service. If you haven’t been before you have to give it go - so much choice and variety I can’t wait to go back.

Went in for a few beers. Excellent range. Knowledgeable bar staff helped us out with our choices. Quite busy so sat at the bar on stools to begin with but then relocated to a table once some of the diners left. The food looked good although we weren't there to eat. Maybe next time.

Food was absolutely delicious - can highly recommend the croquettes and the raclette meatballs. Service was lovely and the place had a great vibe - love the little touches on the Belgian theme! Will definitely be back!

I normally eat her at lunchtimes and had a super time so decided to celebrate son's birthday with Belgium beer and mussels. Food was fabulous and the beer delicious. Sadly the service was so slow we were asked to vacate our table as our alloted 2 hours were up. We were relocated to a sofa and two stools which wasn't good for us. This was while we were still waiting (30 mins) for a waffle desert. I'm assuming there was a shortage of staff last night. Rather a disappointment.

Our friend went here for thier wedding meal. The staff were so helpful finding a way for us to send them a bottle of champagne and give them a card for us. I appreciate it was an unusual request and thank you for your help. Top service.

Great atmosphere with nice lighting, only around 8 tables so the chefs are really good at churning out beautiful and high quality meals. Everything made to order and fresh local ingredients. The beer is definitely Belgian, but they do have wine, too. I had a croque monsieur thinking it would be very classic, instead it came coated in beautiful cheese and seasoned beautifully, with roasted ham layered in the middle. The salad had thin courgette spaghetti throughout Italian leaves, with a sweet red sauce dressing, not too much. The chips were peppered with seasoning and salt, fluffy and crispy in the middle. The service was excellent and they made great recommendations too. The table is valid for 2 hours.

The pork belly in this place is to die for! The price and quality of the food cannot be beaten. Not to mention the wide selection of beers they have to offer. My favourite being the delirium red. There aren’t many seats and it is always busy so make sure you book. The staff always look after us can’t wait for our next visit!

I for sure know the food here is lovely as I have booked and eaten with family several times and I adore the lambic beer the most. I was most saddened when bringing my friend one night who suffers from agoraphobia and every time I manage to coax him onto a drinks night out I try to call in here to see if there is space to sit and have a drink. The 3 times we have tried the person behind the bar has rudely told my friend to get out as there is no room and I've not been there to explain his delicate situation. We will keep trying to come in for drinks as we want the drinks but knowing that the venue cannot remove google reviews and knowing that we will leave one everytime the bar manager is rude we will keep leaving them. Please speak to people with mental health issues like humans. Expect us to try again in a month! Be nice next time or the reviews keep coming.

On about my tenth visit here and am yet to have anything other than a fantastic experience. A chef on top of his game, interesting specials, loads of great beer - what more could you ask for!

In my books this might be the best place to get beer in the whole city. The huge range and quality of the beers here is astounding, but it's also well worth coming here for a meal, or at the very least a delicious waffle. The staff and service are brilliant and always happy to discuss beers that are available and will give good suggestions based on your preferences.

Excellent level of service from start to finish. I was so impressed with the menu and the selection of Belgian beers. If you are a fan of food and drink then this is the perfect marriage.

The bar staff is very smily and friendly!

The food was AMAZING, could not fault it at all. The only downside to our experience is the fact we witnessed the bar tender vaping behind the bar whilst everyone was eating and drinking.

I come here often and I absolutely love this place, favourite place in Portsmouth - so much variety and options for drinks with amazing food to go with it. Matt and Jay take good care of me and my friends everytime we come.

Booked this for dinner before a show at the King's. Never been before, was not disappointed. Never really had Belgian food before, so menu was different and to be expected a vast array of beers were on offer. We had croquettes and bitterballen to start. Both delicious. Then we both had moules, my daughter had marinere and I had the cider. Again both meals were delicious and well cooked. Only criticism was service was a little slow. As we were limited for time, we were unable to have dessert, but they did look good! Would come again, but would set aside more time and NOT drive, so I could try the beers!
