Even not good as the restaurants at Türkiye, still I really enjoyed the food. However there was only one waiter and wasn't able to mind everyone which reason in I waited so long to order.

Friendly attentive staff, excellent food at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit ,me and my wife highly recommend and will be going back

Went here with freinds. Food was ok , but nothing special. It worked out at about £24 per person for a main course and a drink.

Delicious and freshly cooked grilled meats. Beautiful salad, rice and bread. Such humble and honest people, family run. We loved the cold meze starter with all the different dips. Don’t be put off by the exterior this is an exceptional place to dine.

Food excellent, lovely decor, busy and excellent food and service. Only given 4 stars as thought it was a bit pricey and especially the drinks which were more expensive than a pub. However, it was excellent and we would return. Highly recommended.

Authentic delicious Turkish. Found this place by chance, and had an amazing meal. Homely and humble atmosphere. Every single thing we ordered was so clean tasting and delicious, it felt as if we were eating at a Turkish person’s home. The homemade chilli sauce is so light and fresh. We cannot wait to return. DO NOT come here expecting glitz and glamour. The puddings were amazing also. We will be back.

Food was decent, I ordered a T bone steak, which I have to say was actually pretty good. The Lentil soup was a bit bland. My partner ordered the creamy chicken with rice, that was actually also pretty good and tasty. Price wise it wasnt bad either, I would reccomend definitely

Excellent food, freshly prepared by the owner / chef of this independent little gem set amidst many restaurants and bars. Clean place, friendly service and great food at a good price. We had the 3 course meal for 2 including a bottle of wine for £50 so enjoyed many new tastes and finished with delicious Turkish tea and a chat with some of the regulars. Unfamiliar with the area we had walked up and down Old Christchurch Road for 30 minutes trying to decide which of the many restaurants we should dine in; Trip Advisor reviews, FSA ratings and the menus on display were helpful. We picked Saray for all those reasons plus seeing seemingly Turkish diners eating there which seemed a good advert for authentic, traditional cuisine. We were delighted with our decision, enjoying friendly, personal service from the waitress plus the owner / chef who’s been running it for 14 years. Don’t be put off by the basic decor - the room and company were warm and welcoming. We had a great evening and felt happy to have supported a local business. We would 100% recommend Saray.

Went here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Great value for money and decent portion size on meals. The only let down was the chilli sauce it was more like a runny tomato sauce with bits. I live in London and visit lots of Turkish/ Greek restaurants that serve very good chilli sauce which in my opinion makes the meal. The place was warm and inviting and the gentleman serving us was very nice and nothing not to much trouble.

Visited this place yesterday and so glad we did. I can honestly say that this was the best meal I’ve had in a restaurant for a very long time. The service was excellent, we even learned a little Turkish!! Turkish red wine was lovely and very reasonably priced. The food was amazing. I had the sea bass, amazing!!! Will visit Bournemouth again just to have a meal here, it’s really that good!!

On 10/10/2022. Our experience at the restaurante was really unpleasant.  They don't know how to serve the customer. 1 The waitress does not know how to communicate in English properly. Sometimes this can be covered with charisma and good energy but this was not the case. 2 They made us wait for more than 2 hours for our food.  Without any explanation. 3 The food was sent incomplete with considerable time differences.  The side dishes also came very late. 4 The main meal was quite good but the salads were like Tesco salads with no dressing or flavor. 5 There was no formal apology for the delay or any discount for incompetence.  When we wanted to pay, the waitress did not understand that we want to pay some in cash and some with card (divided to more people). When the manager came he calculated wrong how much we had to pay by customer and made us pay more

We had the most delicious evening meal today. The food was truly scrumptious and terrific value for money. The service was first class and nothing was too much trouble. We can definitely recommend to others and we will return when next in Bournemouth.

Went there few days ago and was impressed by the result of the refurbishment, compared to what I knew it used to look like before.The food was delicious, pleasant atmosphere, the staff was very friendly, great customer service. A great place to come back to anytime.

No thrills but none needed the food is always exceptional. if you like grilled meat and traditional Turkish food look no further.

Hubby and I popped in for a quick midweek lunch. Spotlessly clean, fab service and food to die for. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

I always come here for their chicken and rice... never disappoints me. Perfect portion size, salad is always fresh and tasty, and the Turkish tea is beautiful ! Always reccomend this place to people :)

Mi novio había mezclado pinchos de pollo y cordero con arroz y ensalada. Ambos estaban muy calientes y muy agradable.Nos dieron pan complementario y un chapuzón para empezar, mientras esperábamos a que llegara nuestro plato principal. Este fue un buen toque. El camarero era muy atento y educado. No se pudo culpar al servicio. Los platos principales no tardaron en llegar allí.Los precios no estaban nada mal. Tomamos refrescos Esos, además de los dos principales fueron 24.El aparcamiento está disponible en la calle cercana y creo que pagamos 3. 50 por menos de 2 horas. No es barato, pero es gratis después de las 8 pm.En términos de acceso, el restaurante no es el mejor (tiene un pequeño paso), pero es factible en una silla de ruedas manual si puede subir y bajar el escalón. Traer un amigo. Las sillas eléctricas no podían entrar. El personal abrió la segunda mitad de las puertas principales para dejarnos salir, pero nos las arreglamos para pasar por una puerta. Una vez dentro, hay mucho espacio para llegar a su mesa.Los baños son pequeños (masculinos y femeninos) y bajan por muchas escaleras empinadas y no hay ninguna deshabilitada, por lo que se recomienda una planificación avanzada en este frente. Aquellos con problemas de movilidad lucharían con las escaleras.Si te gusta la comida turca, recomendamos encarecidamente. No soy un gran fanático personalmente, pero no es lo mío (se encoge de hombros). Mi novio no puede calificarlo lo suficiente y está bastante enfadado conmigo por lo que no quiero volver. ¡Lo siento!

Very happy with our visit here. The food was very tasty (both starters and main) and staff fairly attentive. I would recommend.

Visited on Thursday 23rd August, Turkish families eating there, service was very good, staff friendly and efficient , had the meal for 4 people, plenty of choice and good portions, the lady chef! (makes a nice change) took a lot of care with the presentation and the food tasted lovely. The bread was lovely and kept coming.Would be a regular if we lived close by.

Stunned at the service we got yesterday, we were in the area and decided to go to Saray as it was quite empty, we had two 2 year olds, a 6 year old all and 4 adults. Upon entering staff told us to leave our buggies outside which we agreed but wanted full visual of them as they were not cheap, staff member refused then had us sit on a table for six people and no baby chair when we moved to an table for 8, staff member promptly told us to move back with no explanation. We tried telling him that we wanted to see our buggies and table was not suitable which he refused so we just left and went to a much nicer restaurant down the road.

I found the staff very friendly, the food fresh cooked, and very very real Turkish style taste. Lamb chops were tender, and nicely marinated, the fish was cooked on charcoals, Turkish Tea and Sweet dish. Wow. Great food. I am very happy finding this place.

Chose the Chicken Iskender which I find is a good yardstick by which to measure a Turkish Restaurant and found it very tasty and delicious. Restaurant was clean and well lit. Service good. Food well cooked and presented. Reasonably priced. Thank you very much.

We are a couple we had a dinner in there. Friendly and lovely staff, the waiter looked busy but he was polite and kind all the time. Taste food, good amount and price.

As a person who is Arabic, there is nothing I enjoy more than having an amazing meal that reminds me of home, this is definitely what you can expect to find at Saray. The food is amazing, the atmosphere of the Middle East and Turkey itself is there, as well with anything else one could want from a Turkish restaurant. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking for middle eastern cuisine. I’d recommend the Saray special!

Ordered via Deliveroo. It arrived very quickly but the food was horrid. The hot meze was greasy with inedible calamari. Main meal was also disgusting. It fact it went in the bin after the first couple of mouthfuls,not only a waste of money but had a bad stomach for the rest of the evening. Avoid at all costs.

Esta fue mi tercera visita con amigos y la comida y el servicio ha sido bueno en todas las ocasiones. Excelente pan caliente con un chapuzón chili mientras esperamos para nuestra comida. El vino de la casa aceptable. Las chuletas de cordero que mi amigo tenía que decía que eran los mejores que ha tenido en un restaurante turco. La mía era pollo gulac, que era preciosa y el pollo al también un color disfrutamos. Sin duda volveré.

Great food, and the place has warm and welcoming staff. Good atmosphere too, families came as well as other couples. Food was worth the wait (wasn’t an unreasonable wait though), and one of the gentlemen found out it was our first time in Bournemouth so he treated us to some Turkish tea and kunafeh! Would highly recommend

We have just eaten at the Saray Turkish restaurant.Not only was the service excellent but the food was as good as I can remember.

Having read all the negative reviews first, I was a little concerned but as my wife had spent a lot of time in Istanbul and was looking forward to go to a Turkish restaurant, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Yo opté por Saray y no nos decepcionó. Pan fresco hermoso con un chapuzón caliente caliente. Tabbouleh, pierna de cordero, por desgracia habían vendido fuera de pierna así nuestra alternativa y chuletas estaban bien poderoso. Una buena botella de vino Villa doluca lavados bajar red satisfactoriamente.

Family of 12 booked early evening. Food was tasty and all the 12 meals came together, everybody enjoyed the meal which was hot and plentiful. The restaurant was clean and pleasant staff.

Don't go! Our food came out raw had to be sent back. Ordered the meatballs and spicy sausage starter's rubish dry no sauce. They tried to make up for it and returned with a sizzling dish .had the £40 meal deal for 2 with a bottle of wine.

I came here on a weekend with a friend. we ordered our food we had to be asked to repeat ourselves three times because the women behind the counter did not understand what we wanted. then we had to wait 45 minutes for the food to be served to us. It was not well presented and they snatched my money out of my hand. I can honestly say I will never ever visit this place again.

We were so cold that had to leave without dessert, the food was no bad but we could not believe that the had no heating on when there was 1 degree outside

We went last year to this restruant and enjoyed the food. So we thought we would come again..This time to our surprise the place was empty. It was 8pm during holidays.We were seated and ordered starters which came without plates to eat from? All u can hear throughout is loud chitter chattering of turkish ladies working. There was no music? Or atmosphere..The starter came without plates no sauce no bread we had to ask for these things. When our adana came. We had a bite and felt sick it looked good but the taste was just charcoal?! It was so overwhelmingly strong i was burping charcoal fluid smell. It made us feel sick. We couldnt have three more bites although we tried... so we asked for the bill and explained but the lady did not understand. We paid for everything and left.I was just surprised because they use to be good?

Our first visit, Saturday lunch for 2. Lentil soup, stuffed vine leaves, 2 x chicken/rice/salad lunchtime special. A bowl of Turkish bread. A beer, a tea. Everything was tasty, well-presented and served politely. At £23, we thought the meal was good value too.Saray isn't posh, but it's what I'd think is fairly authentic, and most of the customers were probably Turkish. A total joy and we'll return.

Saw mixed reviews but decided to go in as we have always enjoyed Turkish food.At 8.30 pm on a Saturday night you would think it would be busy- wrong!! Still we thought we'll give it a try- schoolboy error.......It was terrible- Hot Meze starter was deep fried everything- no seasoning and just bland, dull and boring.Mains - Shish Kebab - rice, salad and grilled lamb - not even served on the skewer- again no seasoning- no attempt to make it anything other than adequate at best.Looks like the owners don't care - seems like the locals have given up on it too.My advice - try anywhere else first- even McDonald's!

The service was excellent. The only downside was they wouldn't give us a hot non-meat meze to start. The cold veggie meze was fine and the warm bread was fantastic!My partner had a vegetable moussaka which came with rice and a huge salad, and I had the simple boiled lamb hock with rice on the side. Both were lovely. We had a tea and coffee which were okay.Saray had a relaxed family atmosphere and the toilets were clean and tidy.

We're a family of four and have just eaten here and enjoyed one of the most fantastic tasting meals, (my first Turkish experience) ignore the recent reviews and make your own mind up it's excellent and the waitress service was great. Just a shame we live so far away or it would be a regular for us!

At first glance everything looked alright until we ordered food the waitress brought totally wrong orders for both of us and....(chicken instead of lamb) then she convince me she has brought what I ordered, we were hungry so I didn't argue. The food was soaked in oil and nothing like Turkish kebab. When I went to pay I was told credit card machine don't work and no working cash point anywhere near I had to walk 1/2 mile to get cash. then to top it we had stomach troubles all night...so overall great food great service and pleasant aftermath, as if!!!!!!!!!!

Firatly it may be worthl pointing out that we are from London where there are amazing Turkish restaurants and majority have a certain level which we have come use to therefore the the experience hereay be alot worse for us.The food was bland, no tadte what so ever in out dishes. I ordered chicken guvec whicj was clearly made using tinned tomatoes, mushrooms etc. There was no flavour not even seasoning. Barely tasted sweetness from tinned tomato. In order to eat the foos I uad to pile on chilli sauce which wasnt hot amd want flavourful either but was better than the dish. The salad ere is nothing like Turkish salads in restaurants that we go to, a cheap imitation.My wife ordered the lamb shank, that too was bland only taste was that similar to bone marrow which was off putting to her The potato amd Carrot tasted as of they were boiled and added to the dish. I was hesitant when we went in as there were only 2 other people but decided to give it a go owing to the good reviews. Nothing like Turkish food.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Bournemouth. It was the first restaurant where I discovered Turkish cuisine. Delicious food, excellent service. Once I visited it with my friends, kept going there, also with my relatives. Definetly recommend it to everyone.

Cold mezze starter is great for two with lovely bread. Husband loves the mixed kebab and rice. Chicken shish is good but needs more spice. Clean open kitchen.

Had evening meal at Saray while on a holiday in Bournemouth place is nice and clean set out like cafe but food quality is lot better then you expect service is very good and owners are hands on and the daughter was making sure we where happy with food and service nice family run business

Well,I lived in Turkey for two years and could write a PhD on kebabs and Turkish food,considering how much of them I tried .Also,I happened to live in London and been to so many Turkish restaurants there as well.Their is a difference between the Turkish restaurants in Turkey and here.I was never eating a chips with the kebab when I lived in Turkey(because it's always either with the rice or salad) but then when in Rome,or in this case in the UK,we must have chips with everything so I became very British like that.In this place food was just like in Turkey.The taste was the best kebab that I had since I left Turkey and that's 11 years ago and God knows that I had lots of kebabs outside of Turkey since then.This restaurant it's really doing the things the way it should be done and I could eat there day and night.It was just unbelievable .I felt I was back in Turkey.The Turkish music was on the TV,the restaurant is really nicely done ,in black colour and it's very affordable but also could be used if you are on the date or want to impress someone.The staff was very friendly and really nice.I am going to be back in future for sure.Thank you very much for giving me a taste of proper Tuskish food after such a long time.

The decor is a more cafe style affair, than fine dining, however the food and service were ok. The food was fresh and plentiful and all for a decent price.

I have been for the fourth times in this Turkish restaurant and I never been disappointed. The t-bone steak ' a la creme' I took for dinner is absolutely awesome, soft and really delicious. It's the second time I went just for the steak. However, I have tried also the moussaka some time ago and it's also unbelievable tasty. I would highly recommend this place, good value for food and money.

I am in Bournemouth for work and the hotel I am staying at is not providing evening meals, so I had to source my own. Came across this restaurant and had a really authentic meal, so have returned for a second night. Service really good and friendly, really made feel welcome in a strange and unfamiliar town. I could not believe how bad this place was. We were on a trip to Bournemouth and came across this Turkish "restaurant" by chance. Obviously not our lucky day. The place - I would not call it a restaurant as it is not - was not busy at all. We sat at a table that was just wiped and very sticky. The waitress was busy mainly with taking selfies with her friends. We ordered starters and some raki, only to have to keep asking for the missing parts of our order. Not even halfway through the starters the main arrived... The waitress was just about to just drop it at the end of the table with not a single word. We pointed out we're still in the middle of the starter and without a word she just turned around and walked off with the mains. I saw her going to the kitchen area and then putting the mains on top of a oven alongside with some dusty pans. Not where I want my main to come from. I could hardly believe it.After a few minutes the owner (I assume) appeared on the table and yet again attempted to just drop the mains at the end of the table. When we Again pointed out we're in the middle of the starter, his reply was - Its your choice, have them now or they will get cold. Hm, really?To cut a long story short - a shocking experience. Those people are firmly stuck in past ages and have not got the faintest idea how to serve customers. Not once we were asked if everything is ok. Not once the word "Thank you" was used. If you do say "Thank you" when you food's been dropped on the table, you would be completely ignored. Not once we were asked if we need more drinks or anything else. Not once we were asked if we're finished. Just absolutely unbelievable. I was wondering if it is hidden camera stunt or just a bad joke, being played on us.The food - well, if I've never had Turkish before, I could have possibly think that its just the way it should be. It is not. The starters were just old, bland, horrible runny mixes of something. The meat - we ordered the lamp steaks. Those were not steaks. They were very cheap random fatty pieces of lamb offcuts. The rice was just horrible. The salad swimming in cheap vinegar. To top it all up - I was quite ill for the next couple of days with sickness and all the trimmings. My boyfriend, who is much more resilient than me, got away with just upset stomach for a couple of days. If you're still reading, thank you and simply avoid.

Fancied Turkish food and of the two other offerings within 100m., one was closed (Monday) and one was empty and looked a bit modern-pretentious. So Saray it was. Clearly a (Turkish) locals joint: a place to eat, not dine: plain tables, TV on, no-frills. All the better for it.Good sucuk, hot and spicy: fine plain grilled halloumi; well-made patlican ezme with chili, garlic and onions. Followed by a plain (too-plain?) grilled adana kebab; two skewers and plenty enough. A good place to feed; authentic and reliable. Minuses for still bringing the rice with the kebab even though I'd ordered saute potatoes; for those saute potatoes being not crisp and golden but slathered in a tomato sauce; and for charging me for mineral water brought with my Raki, when a small jug of tap would have sufficed.£28 included 50cls of Raki and an Efes. You could do worse. And probably better. It's fine.

A great place for some delicious food. I have been coming here for years whenever I'm in the neighbourhood and find the restaurant always to be clean, warm and welcoming, with good service. The food is really super, tasty, and fresh with authentic Turkish dishes providing excellent value for money.

My husband & two of our friends went wondering around to find somewhere to eat, we 'tried' 3 other restaurants before coming across this quaint little restaurant... The service was friendly, the service was quick and I have to say the food was very tasty.. This is not a Michelin * restaurant but it is an honest & well priced option if you aren't precious about the environment, would definitely eat here again.

I,ve been to a lot of turkish resturant but this is far worst one, Had to wait long time to order as no one was coming to take order and same for the bill.As all Turkish returants in london offer free salads, breads etc when you sit down but not here dont expect anything from this resturant. Food was not that great compare to any resturant in london.Would not recomend this Resturant at all

Walked in and waited for over 15 minutes for a menu. A waiter and waitress were cleaning tables around us moving from one table to another and when we got up disappointed they pretended not to see us. This kind of D grade service in today's day and age is very disappointing. Spend your hard earned money where you will get quality service

An excellent Restaurant with polite attentive staff. Clean and efficient yet a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was amazing! I had never tried Turkish food but I will be putting this cuisine at the top of my list of favourites. I will be visiting this restaurant again.

This is our favourite Turkish Resturant in Bournemouth by far.Great food at a fair price with good service....we have been back so many times especially after our trip to Istanbul. We think it's as good as in Istanbul. Happy days

good turkish restaurant a classic kebab with very good cooked food and a very friendly service. the portions are quite small for a turkish restaurant. a tip for the chef: garlic sauce is something a bit more than pure mayo. otherwise we enjoyed our meal.

Glad I chose to go into Saray as the food was excellent and the welcome was very friendly for a single diner. The guy in the headscarf (the owner I think!) was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Superb stuff..!!

When you are hungry and want something different but at the same time you want it to be traditional and fresh then this is a good choice. As I I walked in the place it gave off an aroma of welcome and have a seat. The service wasprompt and friendly...i was hoping they would crank up the heating I was very cold. I sat down down and browsed through the small, simple well worded menu, I was cold so I choose the lentil soup. The soup arrived very quickly served with freshly baked bread. This was well needed and the cold soon disappeared. I finished my soup of and started on the there traditional rice pudding, which to my surprise was soft and had just the right amout of sweetness. I completed my meal with there turkish coffee with sugar.....nice and light but at the same time full of flavour. If you fancy some good turkish food cooked to pefection ....give saray a chance.. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Friendly and cosy, traditional no frills Turkish restaurant. Excellent food and decent price! Definitely would go back there again.

La convivialité du service est tellement agréable que j'ai envie de voyager en Turquie maintenant.Les plats proposés sont typiques du pays et vous garantissent l'évasion des papilles et une pratique première du turque en prime.La générosité est visible dans les assiettes et dans le sourire du personnel. On peut y passer une soirée très conviviale et même bruyante si on le désire. ( quand on vous dit que le client est roi, dans cet établissement c'est vrai!!)Les équipements du restaurant peuvent sembler sommaires pour des habitués de restaurant haut de gamme mais c'est un jugement trop rapide à mes yeux!

My friends who had the veggie meze options found their food ok however mine was terrible, The whole set up the place was wrong. We had to ask for bread as it wasn't offered any. I ordered lamb eskinder. I know how this is supposed to be cooked and served and half the ingredients were missing. Just a pile of dried, fatty lamb bits and a lump of yoghurt. Bland and no taste. I had to leave it. They cooked the kofte after I told them it was missing but wasn't really hungry by then. We all asked for baclava which is on the menu and you would expect in a Turkish restaurant. All they could offer us was some figs in honey - no thank you - or some strawberry or chocolate ice cream Yuk! There was only about 8 other diners on a saturday and night and loads of staff that didnt seem to be doing anything, Come on, the Asian shop down the road sells baclava. They dont really deserve any business.

This was the best food I ever had in bournemouth and I will try one more time tomorrow night that Adana kofta waiting on me <3

went there for lunch, seemed a nice place, starter was very salty and then we had to give our order again, I thought nothing of it at first .. then after 40 mins they asked again what did we order? we told them we had a train to catch and need to leave soon... the waiter came over 10mins later said sorry we gave your food to another table.... and then they brought a chicken kebab... which wasn't what I ordered... it had only 4 small chicken pieces on...it was terrible service...next time we go to Bournemouth ..never again. it seemed a nice place but other people who came after us got their orders on time... maybe its cos I am Kurdish and they turks...hmmm?

had all my fave foods;hummus,kababs etc my father loved his portion of spare ribs. great place with friendly staff.LOVE IT!

So good that we had to come back on the last night of our holiday in Bournemouth. Excellent first and last time we visited.

Went for the dinner deal for two (switched the house wine for a bottle of nice Turkish red for a few extra pounds - very good value overall.) The cold meze starter and lamb patlican kebabi were delicious. The chicken sote was declared to be okay, perhaps lacked a bit in presentation. But our waiter Ramptin (i hope i got the name right) was amazing! Very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable, really made the whole experience memorable.

By any measure this is a truly superb restaurant and easily the best value meal I have had. The staff hospitality is superb offering many free bits of bread which like the rest of the food, is superbly fresh. The Turkish dishes are all faithful to the cultural experience that even extends to Turkish television being on show. It is clearly a family run business and this pride is shown with the dedication conveyed to customers.I had Seabass with generous servings of fresh salad and bread that is not only very good value at under £13 but has a freshness that even Sea-food specific restaurants in Poole cannot even match. The humous is luxurious, Turkish beer is great and the staff so friendly.It is not as plush as the Pera Rose Turkish alternative for decor, but it is much cheaper and the food is superior.

Saray is one of my favorite restaurants in Bournemouth. Turkish food is delicious and I am a big fan of Mediterranean style. I have been several times and I have tried almost everything in the menu and they never disappoint me... Everything tastes absolutely delicious. Tasty and homemade food and with great prices. Do not miss the soup, Patlican kebabi, Kaburga and for dessert Baklava!

Had a nice meal friendly staff,clean,if they serve the meals with tortilla bread that would be much better!..first time visit I had a long green chile pepper with meal,but last two time didn't get any..but over all 5star....highly recommend....

We went to this restaurant whilst on holiday in Bournemouth. The food was delicious we started with Borek and had a main course of creamy chicken and mushroom with rice and salad. We also had a bottle of red Turkish wine called Yakut a favourite of ours when we go to Turkey.The staff were friendly and efficient and we would go back if we were in Bournemouth again.

Our favourite Turkish restaurant in Bournemouth. Delicious food. Efficient service. Meals are freshly prepared. Bar B Q is excellent.
