We ordered the platter for 3-4 people, the platter was not fit for 2 people. Portions were terribly small and not filling at all, the size of the lamb chop was actually shocking. It was our first time coming to this restaurant, however will not be returning.

Best Turkish restaurant in South East London

We ordered a mix grill and a selection of hot and cold meze. The food was a mix bag, some ok, some below what I expected. I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the other Turkish restaurants I've been to. The lamb chops had next to no seasoning.

Seasoned Lamb chops with salad and bulgur. Cooked to perfection. You can watch your food being cooked over an open bbq Staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely place and reasonably priced

Amazing authentic food, served with great service and lovely warm energy, run by a talented family of chefs. The adana dishes and the chicken Beyti's where especially good. We were cheeky enough to try the freshly made baklava too 😋. You won't regret it, I hop on a train every so often to enjoy it!

Arrived at 7 for a birthday gathering service was very slow 9- 10 still waiting for main meal. After order for 7 sea bass was told that there was only 4 people ordered lamb shanks they were told they wasn't any left. People were asking for refunds really bad service.

Wonderful food and the staff were very accommodating for our large group. The restaurant owner/ head chef personally came out to check that everyone was happy, and the waitstaff were brilliant. Would highly recommend the mixed meat platter and there some nice veggie options too.

The food here is always good and the prices are reasonable. We have been going here for several years ever since it first opened both for special occasions and sometimes just for lunch. The atmosphere is very relaxing.

Hello, paid an afternoon visit with the estranged one, food was very nice but certainly not outstanding, there again our 'outstanding ' Turkish restaurant is £25 more expensive, overall, for the same meal. Will certainly return as good value for money

King Prawn dish looked great but upon eating it I discovered the king prawns hadn’t been de-vained at all which made me feel sick! The £49.95 platter was overpriced for such little meat content and was also very under seasoned. All in all, not very impressed with this place. I can honestly say that this is one of poorest Turkish restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. On the plus side, service was decent and attentive. It’s a real shame the food quality and taste let it down.

I recently went here and was very proud. I was greeted by smiling staff and a clean environment. The food was very well cooked and delicious. The service was very good and the staff were really really kind. They always had a smile on their face and didn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend to everyone.

Saray is a family restaurant. The food is brilliant and so are the owners/staff. Highly recommended. The cocktails are equivalent to twice in the city.

Visited Saray as a party of 8 friends. It was a birthday celebration and we dropped balloons and presents etc in during the day, they couldn’t have been more helpful. Service, food and overall experience was really great. I honestly believe the negative reviews that were left during the eat out thing at the end of lockdown were only because of the restrictions and the whole way of life being unknown and uncertain. The staff here are lovely the restaurant clean and the food choice extensive. We were the last party to leave but never felt rushed or as though we outstayed our welcome. Give it a try - you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Service at this restaurant was top notch - friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious and the taste of the meat demonstrated high quality - recommend the Saray mixed platter!! Go and have a meal here, you wont be disappointed :)

Excellent food I have been visiting Saray well before lockdown and during. The quality of the food is always consistent and value for your money!

Went with a few friends on a Tuesday evening and had booked a table. Sat us down immediately but took ages to take our drinks or meal orders l. Drinks eventually arrived but a whole hour later the food arrived. There wasn’t a lack of staff they just weren’t any good I ordered a blue steak and received some shoe leather with cheap supermarket chips . Will never go here again absolute joke And even when it came to laying they just didn’t seem to have a clue We paid up as quick as we could and got out of there

We came to Saray during the Eat out to help out scheme and it's a lovely well-run restaurant in the heart of Welling high street. The restaurant windows open right up so on a nice warm day you could be on holiday. A good selection of turkish / greek style food, great choices for kids and very good portion sizes. Good cocktail menu and wine choices. Excellent value for money

Awful experience, went as a group of 4, no social distancing whatsoever, so loud you could not have a conversation. Food was of poor quality and extremely expensive. Had my husband and ourselves gone on our own we would have walked out. Got a bad headache and could not wait to get out of there. Did not bother with desert. Would not recommend.

Good value and good quality. Service was average. Very busy with no regard at all for social distancing. Incredibly noisy due to the sheer volume of people and no soft furnishings to soak up the noise.

Visited with 5 friends during eat out to help out in August for the first time. It will certainly be our last. The restaurant was absolutely packed and there was no regard for social distancing or government regulations, it also appeared they may have had actually introduced more tables!We waited an hour for our food which when it arrived was overcooked, bland and clearly very cheap cuts of meat. Hugely disappointed and won’t be going back.

We come to Saray often as we just can’t get enough of the delicious food! We have tried lots of different things from the menu and have been more than satisfied each time. The favourite so far has been Karides Guvec. We highly recommend it. Lovely, calm atmosphere and friendly staff. The perfect place for a meal as a couple or with family and kids.

Would not recommend, food was just ok, no social distancing what so ever, they could not get more tables in, and I am sure they tried. The noisiest restaurant I have ever been in, I was with 3 others and could not hear a word they said, now home hours later and my ears are still ringing. Not music, just packed with so many people and everyone trying to speak over the noise of others! Only stayed as we was with others, if it was just me and my wife we would have walked out. Not one face mask in sight, waiters, cooks. There was a child in the kitchen, a young girl, looked about 10 years old! Would not go there again.

We were sat in a corner where the table next to us was literally at our backs and no distancing at all. In the one hour we were there the next table was turned over twice and a table for two was literally given a wipe and re-set for the next people. No evidence of any form of cleaning or the measures needed in these difficult times. The food was fairly bland and the service not great. Shame we had been here many times before which bought us back today. On today’s evidence we won’t be returning for some considerable time for our own and others safety

Have visited this restaurant quite a few times over the years. Always enjoyed the food & atmosphere but sadly went back this week after lockdown and was so disappointed to see that there were no social distancing arrangements in place. Tables were just as they were before the pandemic and on the night we went, there must have been at least 60+ people in. Food was good but service not particularly good on this visit. Won't be returning.

A nice place for a Turkish meal. Calamari cooked to perfection. Garlic mushrooms to die for. And lovely moussaka. Easy quick service from friendly staff.

Great food, seemed like everything was a rush and the manager never came back after asking about allergens, but we worked it out.

Popped in for a last minute bit of dinner seeing as we had no children for the evening. Decided to take advantage of being able to just go out and have a nice meal. When we arrived we were immediately seated and offered the menus, then a lady who I presume is the owner? (Really friendly and lovely) brought over a small bowl of olives and some complimentary hummus and tzatziki with warm bread. It was delicious. Me and the hubby ordered a platter to share, it contained lovely lamb chops, chicken Shish, lamb shish, kofte and gorgeous chicken wings with rice and lots of salad. All of the meat was cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavour. The platter says it serves 2-3 people but I would say it was perfect for 2 people if there was a 3rd person we would have had to order an extra dish. The service was great, very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. The restaurant was quite empty which I guess most restaurants are during the week. We both had a couple of drinks to go with The meal which went down a treat! The overall bill I found to be reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant as a good place to go if you fancy a nice Turkish meal. We will definitely be going back again, next time we will bring the kids too!

Service was good food came fast but was fairly average and a bit bland overall. With the quality and amount of other turkish resteraunts around these days hard to give more than a 3.

Terrible experience. Waited over 20 minutes to order drinks, then a further 20 minutes for drinks to come. Calamari starter came without the tartar sauce, which we waited another 10 minutes for, by which time the starter was cold. Garlic prawns looked fresh from a supermarket frozen packet. Waited over an hour a half for our mains (chicken shish) in the end we left as people who were seated after us were being served their main before us. Some people’s ‘mixed grill’ was being served without the chicken and staff were telling them the chicken would come in 10-15 minutes - not acceptable. Deliveroo drivers and Uber eat drivers were also in and out getting their takeaway orders like clockwork. One of the waitresses serving drinks told me she didn’t even work there, she was a family friend having a meal who got asked to serve as they didn’t have enough staff.....Really disappointed by the extremely slow service, and poor quality, of the food that we did receive....will not be recommending or returning.

Excellent service from friendly staff

I was recommended to come here all the way from London with my husband and young boy who's such a fussy eater and we all loved it! I'm not a big meat eater but I can never say no to adana kofte with rice and salad, classic combo! Lovely family atmosphere, run by a Turkish family themselves who are hospitable and friendly, we'll definitely be coming back here again! Thank you Saray! Nina and the family x

I've been coming here the past 2 years with my family and friends for different birthdays, gatherings, Sunday lunches and finally made an account to write this review as I love this place. I'm a local to welling and this is our go to restaurant! food is absolutely delicious, I usually have the garlic prawns for starters and lamb and chicken shish for my mains, my little ones love the chicken shish! Cant recommend enough, we'll be coming back at some point within the month im sure!

Last 4-5 year we r come in to this friendly and warm welcome in Turkish restaurant , owner serdar he’s wife and all the staff are so friendly , food is always great and lots of drink choices including cocktail so do not hesitate and have a try best in the area highly recommend

Went there on a Friday. Lovely place food was very nice. Staff where really pleasant and the service was good. Had the mixed platter very good value for money and a lovely cold beers as well. It’s a very nice place to eat the service was good and very polite staff.

Absolutely awful. Ordered meal and after a good while our starters were brought out. And then the appetizers that should have come when we first walked in.My starter of liver and onions was literally small quite dry chunks of liver on a bed of raw onion slices. No sauce or gravy. Ok!Eventually main meals came and shish meat was ok. However the rice was bland and came in chunks.My wife's vegetarian Kremit was flavourless and swimming in oil. People all around were complaining and couple left after an hour without having food delivered. When getting the bill asked why everything was so bad. 3 people on holiday. No excuse for bad service and taking people's hard earned cash. Only benefit was they took the price of Kremit off. And rightly so.Really disappointed as was looking forward to returning here after it first opening. Never going back. Awful

Only 3 waiting staff for huge restaurant. The lady (owner I think) works extremely hard and smiles, however the man (husband I think and owner) is moody and unfriendly.

I was very disappointed in the service and food at the restaurant. The staff got all our orders wrong and when we told them they seemed upset and defensive, instead of taking it constructively and doing something about it. The food was dry and their bulger wheat was over cooked and seasoned. I have never seen such poor service anywhere.

We ate there on the weekend (against the advice of a former waitress who worked in Saray, who told us some shocking stories about the place), and we just left feeling a little disappointed. The lunch menu seemed ok value at a tenner, but the portions were ridiculously small (and we aren't by any means greedy / people who need mountains of food on the plate). Not sure whether or not if you was to order the same dishes from the normal menu if there would be more on the plate, but I doubt it.

A group of us went to Saray 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately 2 of the popular dishes i ordered were sold out. Mousaka being one. The vegetarian moussaka I had instead was so greasy. The only positive we could take away was the very friendly waiter!

This was the first time I have been there and it was ok it the children’s meals were over cooked and the service was really slow don’t think I will be returning

I took my Mother to this restaurant for a Mother's Day meal, last Sunday. We were welcomed by the staff upon our arrival and were seated right away. The decor, lighting and furniture is absolutely stunning across the restaurant. The staff were also very polite, professional and prompt, during our entire time there. We ordered a variety of starters/mezes, mains as well as dessert throughout the course of the evening.

Had better from a kebab shop. Salad was basic and Chicken was not succulent but hard and dry. The calamari was very chewy and not of the best quality. What a shame. Our first visit. The waitress gave the impression that it was the last place that she wanted to be and was only there as a favour.

Visited with a girlfriend for an evening meal, the food was okay, nothing special just grilled meat and rice. There are other similar restaurants nearby which are much tastier and better decor.

We came here for some good food and drinks, having heard of its reputation. We were lucky enough to be able to book a table for 4, just two nights before for 7:30pm. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy, but we were seen to very quickly. Cocktails were reasonably priced, but not as cheap as they once were. That said, they were not small sizes so I felt we got our money's worth! We tried a few different ones and all were great, including pina colada. For starters the four of us shared some halloumi, calamari and garlic mushrooms. I felt the halloumi was a little bit undercooked, but still enjoyable. The other two starters were faultless and I'd thoroughly recommend them. For mains, we were a bit intrigued by the different prices per 'portion' sizes for the kebabs e.g small, medium and large. If I recall, a large was £18! The regular I think was around 12-14 pounds? I felt this was a little expensive compared to what I had originally been told about this place. One of its appeals was that it was pretty cheap, but prices have definitely risen. But heyho, business has to be made. The food was great, although the chicken was a bit overcooked. The salad was brilliant and the servers were super quick to top our drinks up and to bring sauces over. They also put up with how loud and giggly we were! Dessert was excellent; I had the coconut ice cream and there was just so much of it, whilst my friend had ferrero rocher ice cream- which she loved! We were the last people to leave the restaurant and we were not made to feel rushed or anything like that. The night was brilliant. I'd definitely return.

This was a impromptu evening mid week the restaurant was quite but the food was great and we had good attentive service.

We had a lovely meal here tonight. Had a fantastic friendly welcome when we arrived. Owner said we are like family and would love all customers to feel like a big family. This was lovely to hear. We had the lamb chops and lamb ribs they both were so tender and delicious. The restaurant was clean and tidy and staff very friendly i highly recommend a visit

I’ve been to other local Turkish/Greek restaurants and this is hands down the best. staff were very friendly and welcoming, I had the mixed grill and the lamb and chicken were perfectly cooked, every time I go it’s brilliant. Highly recommended.

Four of us went on a fairly busy Friday night. The welcome and table were fine. The draught Efes great. We ordered quite a varied selection of starters, mains and desserts and everything was as expected. The service was good even though it was busy. Certainly one of the best places to eat in Welling.

We decided to go to Sarray last night as a couple of our friends hadn't been before. It was just as good as I remembered! Lovely staff and amazing food! The chicken shish is so yummy and all the starters my friends had looked amazing as well.

Location is not great. Hard to find parking. Food was good and the set meal's price was OK. A la carte prices were a little bit steep.

Thus was our third visit to The Saray. The food is constantly good, restaurant very clean and staff are friendly.

Visited the Saray for a quite family meal. Food was delicious, chicken was cooked perfectly. Service nice and quick and Efes on draft was a massive bonus.

I took my other half for out anniversary tonight had a lovely meal waiter was so friendly when I said we was here for our 30th anniversary he brought us a glass of prosseco thought that was a nice touch definitely going back friendly relax non rushed place thanks sedar and waiter for all you done tonight x

My friends and I met here on Saturday for a get together for three birthdays. My friend ordered a prawn cocktail for starter but when the mains arrived my friend said I haven't had my starter yet, but instead of apologising, the waiter simply said "you didn't order one"! no apology at all! The food was good but a bit overpriced

Nothing prompts indigestion more than the unfriendly demeanour of staff. Worrying too, when you can see the plates already prepared with salad portions. Disappointing when the first tastes indicate that this is not quality food, but standard produce. Upsetting when the prices are high and the total cost a shock.
