Sanjugo London in Hackney

Had dinner with my daughter. Super friendly and hospitable staff. Food was very fresh and delicious. Recommended!

They're very flexible with the menu. I requested for no cucumbers and prawns in my chirashi. Chirashi had a good proportion of fish to rice. Miso aubergine was melt in your mouth and quite sweet. Nigiri was fresh according to my friend who had them. Service is a tad slow but they were busy and had only one lady trying to serve everyone. Definitely would be back.

Great food, really fresh and tasty. Attentive and friendly staff. A highlight was the soft shell crab tempura and the grilled aubergine.

Amazing restaurant with super tasty food and incredibly friendly staff. The vibe is fun and feels very Japanese. The food is absolutely worth it and the prices are quite reasonable. Definitely ranking as my favorite sushi spot in London

Sushi was soooooo good! The salmon melted in your mouth and the chicken karaage was to die for!

Small authentic Japanese restaurant. We went for Bottomless Brunch and tried almost everything on the menu. Everything was fresh and delicious! Can’t wait for our next visit!

The restaurant is nice, but very small! The sushi is okay, nothing spectacular that you can’t get elsewhere for cheaper. Because it’s in London it’s obviously accommodating for that price wise. It’s more of a place to go after work or when you want to meet someone quickly I would say! Staff were very nice and friendly!

Delicious fresh sushi, prepared in front of us and arrived quite quickly I loved them (salmon and avocado roll) Amazing Chicken Fried Gyoza 😻 The prices are relatively reasonable compared to London prices for a Japanese restaurant! The only drawback is the space, not a lot of space. I highly recommend it!!!

Lovely food and service. They had most of the popular/familiar dishes to offer. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Reasonably priced for London. Worked out at circa £40/head, and we were well stuffed for that. Highly recommended.

It is a Japanese restaurant chain. The one in Shoreditch is certainly beautiful and the food is good.

We came here for our Mother’s birthday lunch today and we all agreed that this was a great place to celebrate. All the entire staff (specials thanks to the Filipino chef for the complimentary bday dish) here were super friendly and kind. Great selection of food and drinks. Food was delicious and presented immaculately - we enjoyed it so much this might become our go to place to celebrate future family birthdays :) Thanks again to the staff for treating my mum to a piece of yummy green tea ice cream cake. Highly recommend

Barely worth it. The rice is really badly executed for a sushi restaurant. The staff did not offer me a place to sit when there were clearly places to sit, I had to wait 30 minutes for a table to be prepared for me, while there were empty spots available. Overpriced for the quality of food offered. Surprise cocktail was boring, although it was kind of the waiter to edit it to my suggestions. Waiters were kind, that was the good part. Just slow at following through. And they forgot one of my orders, so I had to remind them. Just not worth it all in all. I was hungry, so needs were satisfied. If every item on the menu were cheaper, then the restaurant would match its quality of service.

This is the best japanese restaurant in london, i thoroughly recommend it, the food, drink and service are perfect, with service and atmosphere which takes it into the stratosphere

Never have I had a more pleasant meal in London. Nicole was so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thanks Nicole for the wonderful care given to us. Forever repeat customers! Considering the fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes, you really get more than what you pay for. Highly recommended for those who want a quality meal without breaking the bank. Highly recommend the Super Don and the Tuna tataki.

Amazing food, very chill environment.

The dishes at this Japanese restaurant are very delicious and authentic. The service is also excellent. I especially recommend their Chef Specials. The staff, especially the Filipino servers, were very kind and accommodating, which made the experience even better. Honestly, I wanted to take photos but got too caught up enjoying every bite. 😊

Absolutely delicious! Surprisingly not expensive by London standards. We were served by Hamda (I really hope I’m spelling it right!) and he was so attentive, we really appreciated him double checking with the kitchen for a food intolerance. We will definitely come back

The sushi was lovely, i loved it alot. The staff were soooo kind and loving and talkative, made sure we got everything. we ordered a ton of food and all of it was quick and delicious. The atmosphere is amazing, aesthetically pleasing and clean. The toilets were also very clean. Really reccomend this place for a night out or a special occasion! I think the sushi was the best part of the food rather than the fried foods.

Honestly My favourite meal ever

It was busy (which is a good sign). I sat at the bench by the sushi bar to begin before being moved to the table I had booked (I had arrived a little early). The bench wasn’t very comfortable but I guess it’s reasonably standard for a busy place and it was very cold and breezy at the table by the front door due to the level of delivery driver traffic coming and holding the door open constantly (this is very minor feedback, more of an FYI than a complaint). The food was phenomenal. I had the seaweed salad (beautiful), the octopus balls (tried for first time, wasn’t a huge fan of the texture) and the signature roll (perfection). I asked for a wagu dish but it wasn’t available. I had 1 lychee soda and when I asked for another there was none left which was disappointing as the one I had was delicious. I would definitely come back but will probably request a table booking further from the front door. There is plenty more dishes on the menu I would love to try. The service was top notch too. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Had a birthday dinner here and it was fab. The food was a 10/10 and all the staff were lovely. Special mention to Nicole who gave me a complimentary dessert. :)

Got a table close to the toilet and the other room in the basement was closed to the public and a bit messy. Food was good but rolls seemed smaller than usual. Service was ok nothing special.

We had a little date day, something all parents know doesn’t come around too often! Being sushi addicts, we decided to try Sanjugo, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, full of flavour, and absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and super helpful too. Highly recommend!

I ordered dinner from this place at 19:40 ish, it is still not arrived and they are still packing. I tried to call the restaurant to see if they are coming but the phone box is full and they don't pick up the call. So horrible!!!! I used to order from this place but it will be my last order!

Lovely food, all very fresh and served promptly, at an excellent price as well. Hannah was our waiter, and ensured that everything came out on time and that we were enjoying the food and would 100% recommend!

Very fresh sashimi, and well made tempura. Don't go there if you're starving unless you want to overspend by accident because the food is too delicious and you'll probably order more. It opens until 10:30 so it's a nice option for a late dinner.

Good quality nigiri, average rolls, but excellent selection of sake and Japanese sweets. The service is a bit slow and the bill tends to be high compared to the quality in my opinion. Valid option but it will not remain an unforgettable dinner. Ps be careful with your clothes because you'll come out looking like a tempura shrimp too :)

Our favourite sushi restaurant - amazing both takeaway and eat in! Been here so many times we’ve lost count, and never been disappointed. Miso aubergine (Nasu denggaku) to have with the sushi is a must order. Staff are really friendly too. Came here recently for my sisters birthday, and Khush really made it special bringing some mochi with a candle ♥️ thank you Sanjugo!

Partner and I came here after a long day exploring Shoreditch. It was open until 10pm, perfect after having a couple drinks. We wanted to have a wee pitstop before a long journey back to our hotel for the night and to cram as many foodie stops as we possibly could. Khush was our waiter and she made us feel so welcome to London. She was friendly and bubbly, and when we asked about her favourite drink, she went above and beyond letting us try yuzu and lychee sakes. Hannah was also lovely, she made sure we had everything we needed at our table. Music is not too loud, very chill Japanese tracks. We ordered an eel rice and Tuna Toro nigiri to share. The portions were generous, the Tuna Toro nigiri was melt in the mouth. All very decent prices for a major city. We will be back! the service has been wonderful, thank you everyone.

What a little gem this place is. You’d walk straight past it, but don’t, food is so fresh and the quality of the fish with the sushi is 5* - thanks! *Update* - just seen the new premises on Great Eastern Street. Not a little gem anymore, can’t wait to try the new bigger restaurant!
