Sands Bistro in Ceredigion

Had the fish and chips, so did every other member of the group. It was good sized, the fish was fresh and batter was not soggy. Service was relatively quick. I personally would not sit outside as its right next to road/carpark and people walking past.Staff were friendly and professional.

Slow service and not great quality food. Food arrived but no drinks with them. After asking a couple of times for them and being told they were on their way it ended up where my husband had to go to and collect them from the counter.Quite expensive for the quality of food

On a recent holiday in Borth we visited the cafe twice, would have visited more but bad weather prevented this. Our evening meal was excellent my husband had bacon and chicken salad all fresh and no shortage of meat. I had a Farmhouse pizza and it was of the best I have ever had. Staff very friendly and helpful. All Covid measures in place.

We were staying at the caravan park so this was ideal and close by. Right by the beach too. Nice food.

We have stayed at Brynowen caravan site on and off for the last 20 years and have only ever stopped here for ice creams. However this year my husband and I were staying in Aberystwyth and made the trip over to Borth for nostalgia.We both ordered the breakfast box and a coffee and managed to find the only dry table and chairs outside. The food arrived quickly and my fried egg was perfect (with just the right amount of runniness) I think we just sat for about an hour after eating and watched the world go by.

Eaten here before pre covid,returned as staying at Brynowen,plenty of covid precautions in place,food good,nice location

The food was awful and completely over priced, we paid £17 for oven chips and the cheapest supermarket frozen fish. Don't waste your money been fooled that it's fresh fish and chips.

Always come here on my yearly holiday to Borth. Best bacon and egg bap I’ve had for ages. Bacon cooked to perfection and the egg just how I like it :-) oh and the dog enjoyed her sausages. Staff are always very friendly and welcoming also love the owner Kim she’s a legend :-)

We went to Borth for breakfast and stumbled across this place.It’s clean and covid safe and right on the sea front.We had two breakfast boxes and ate them in the conservatory.Food was warm fresh and matched any other breakfast I have had recently.We decided to go watch the sun go down in Borth so I said why don’t we grab some food from Sands bistro as the breakfast was so good.Wow I picked pizza wife had a panini both freshly made and the pizza had bags of meat and flavour.Would I go back 100% would I recommend 100%.

Called in here for a bite to eat before heading back to our caravan. Good social distancing measures and really tasty food. Highly recommended.

We had a takeaway pizza to eat on the beach from Sands it was made freshly and tasted great. There was plenty of choice and we all loved it! We also popped in for drinks as it sells good cappuccino and alcoholic drinks too. A nice outdoor seating area when the sun is shining

Ordered food for a delivery to holiday park. Easy to do, quick delivery. Food was really good, would recommend.

Viaited for a breakfast, large group of 12 all had breakfast boxes. Great service, beautiful breakfast can definitely recommend 👍🏼

The pizzas were tasty and the waiting times were as advised. Only issue was one item we ordered not being available, but they apologised and refunded.

We ate here several times. The first was breakfast which was average. We would have liked the bacon to have been crispier. The coffee was very nice and was consistent. The second time was ate very late. We phoned for a take away. We had a pizza, chips and onion rings but the pizza and onion rings were slightly overdone with the pizza being burnt. It was still edible. The third time we had a bacon roll which was delicious. The fourth was a panini and chips which was again delicious. The staff were lovely each time we visited and the cafe was very organised. We would definitely recommend this cafe.

After a braising walk needed a coffee, friendly staff service a little slow good coffee. The cafe is clean and tidy would go again.

My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch and ordered Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Baguettes with chunky chips plus tea and coffee respectively. The service was friendly. The drinks arrived and a little while later the food followed. The baguettes looked good and were served with colelaw and a salad garnish plus the chips which were superb. I took one bite and noticed what appeared to be a small hair on the bread which I lifted off and put on my plate. I pointed at my plate at which point my husband leaned across and took hold of a hair sticking out of the baguette filling. He putted out about six inches and it was still coming. At this point I summoned the waitress and asked if she would eat what was on my plate. She was clearly very concerned and took it away offering to produce a fresh one. I declined as I really did not want to eat anything in the light of this experience. When we left, the waitress was again apologetic but still charged for my husbands food and coffee and for my tea. She went on to say that she did not understand where the hair came from as it was a different colour to the person who prepared the food (for context, my hair is about a quarter of an inch long and my husband's head is shaved). Far from reassuring me, this compounded the problem since, if the source of the contamination could not be identified, how could it be eliminated?Sadly, there is clearly a food hygiene issue here and I would not eat here again nor would I recommend it to others.

I visited during my stay in Borth & found the staff to be very friendly (to me & my dogs). The cafe was clean & had a great selection of food especially cakes & ice creams. They cater well for those on a gluten free diet.

After decades of avoiding this place because we prefer the other cafes on offer,We popped in over the August bank holiday, Sands was quite busy but still we found a table outside. We found the staff friendly and efficient. The drinks and cakes were bought out to us within about 5 minutes. Cakes were really very good. It was nice to sit outside as the weather was good (we did have to share to terrace with many many wasps). Prices were fair. Toilets were clean, a hand dryer in the gents would be preferable, that’s about the only negative. The car park is extremely handy. This isn’t the most exciting cafe and does feel a bit canteen-like but what it lacks in quirkyness it makes up with space.

Visited Borth area on Sunday. Called in to Sands for a quick breakfast. Lovely position, free car parking, excellent and friendly service. Great food. A very pleasant stop. Lots of seating inside and outside. Visited later in the day for dinner for ten family members. Again staff were brilliant and food was served all together and piping hot. Would recommend. Many Thanks to all the staff. Dog friendly too.

Borth is our favourite stop at the seaside. I wish, we'd stop here before as the food here is very good and not to expensive. We enjoyed the dinner and stopped again next day for breakfast. Very friendly staff.

Nice cafe with very friendly, helpful staff. My son has learning disabilities and they are always extremely welcoming and patient with him. They sell Northern Bloc ice cream and always have a few vegan ones.

We visited Sands Bistro on our stay in Borth. The staff were friendly and apologetic at the wait for our food (it was a busy time and we didn't expect any different). When the food came it was a good portion for all meals, adults and kids alike. We will return!

been to the sands for lunch today very disappointed always come here every week through out the season we live local, but the bagutte today was soft tasted like it was a parbaked one that hadent been in the oven to finish cooking or a left over one from day before that had gone really soft over night , didnt enjoy it, so sorry to say wont be going there for a while ,

Popped in for icecream while passing and so glad we did, great tasting and very generous portions! Highly recommended.

Was visiting the area on a camping trip recently and thought I'd treat myself to a cooked breakfast on the last day. Found the Sands bistro through an internet search. The bistro was very clean and tidy and all the staff were very pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was great and one of the highlights of my trip! Highly recommended.

Me and family popped in after a day out at the animal kingdom. Service was quick even offered to grab us a high chair for our daughter. Order was taken promptly. Ordered kids chicken nuggets, cod and chips and huge breakfast. Asked if I could swap black pudding and mushroom for more eggs this was no issue! After we cleared out plates my partner and daughter had 1 scoop of ice cream each and I had the red velvet fudge cake. All extremely delicious and all came to a satisfying price. Would 100% recommend.

On holiday we went here for breakfast twice! Lovely food, great staff! Will definitely return next time we are here 😊

We ate here on Bank Holiday Monday. I had a fabulous gluten free breakfast inc fried bread ! The staff know their stuff about allergies/ intolerances. Will definetly be back !

Visited Easter Saturday lunchtime. When we ordered we were told there would be a 45 minute delay for food. We accepted that.

We visitied Sands cafe everyday whilst staying in Borth. The staff are friendly and very welcoming of children. The coffee, breakfasts and homemade cakes were delicious and suited a range of tastes and allergy requirements. Would highly recommend

Fantastic little seaside cafe, My wife daughter and I ate here and I have to say the quality of the food was exceptional valve. Dog friendly and the staff made us feel very welcome. We ordered puddings and forgot to ask for no nuts on our banana split, the staff didn’t hesitate in offering to remake it without nuts even though it was our error.

We visited here whilst on holiday. We had previously been on another holiday and it was great, we were soaking wet and apologised for the puddles and the staff we fine and joked about the weather. This time it was very different.

Very over priced cafe, I have visited a number of times. And gets more and more expensive compared to the quality of the food. I visited most recently on mothers day - the guy who took my order had terrible english and rushed my order which was very rude to not only my table but other members of staff. Perhaps he is the manager??! resulting in the wrong food arriving to the table. its shame as if it was better priced and better run it could be a great cafe by the beach.

Good food,, peaceful with space between tables. Fair choice but quite expensive for a cafe. Good location with parking opposite.

What a place, Such nice people running the cafe and gift shop, Lots to chose from with the menu and the food is so reasonably priced. The ice cream is lush. Cakes also very tasty. Very clean. Loos also very clean. Will be back real soon

You will not get a better cooked fresh cooked breakfast of this quality for miles around let alone the wonderful service. Superb to say the least.

We popped in here on an early November afternoon whilst on Holiday. The staff were friendly, and the food was nice. It’s a little pricey, but so are the other similar establishments in the area. It’s table service, but you can be left waiting to pay your bill. Still, I enjoyed my cheese and gammon style ham sandwich with chunky chips, washed down with a strawberry milkshake. Nice to see the remnants of an old ‘It’s A Gift Arcade’ machine in there too. The Sands is licensed as well. Hope to try some more of the menu next season.

Another happy visit to borth love this bistro the girls are always pleasant never too long to wait for food which is always spot on. See you in February hope your open.

Very nice food, the menu was unclear however the staff were good and the scones were delicious! The view from the front of the restaurant is a beautiful sea scenery, perfect for a light lunch or breakfast as not open in the evening, also perfect to nip in and grab an ice cream, they also own a car park dead opposite that’s free parking permitting you buy something from their or the shop next door to it.

Surprised to find such a good cafe, food was good and fresh, with a great deal of choice. Great to let in dog's and I think that could be a good way forward

Ordered 1/2 oz bacon double cheeseburger - the exact description from the menu. When the burger arrived it had onions on which is not stated on the menu and I can not eat - I spoke to waiter who said they could make another with no onions however shortly after a lady who I assume is the manager / owner came out very abruptly to say not only does it come with onions but the burger is a steak and onion burger, she spoke in a very rude matter of fact manner to say this is in the description on the menu and she knew for sure as she wrote the menu. Obviously we showed her her own menu and in black and white the description is as above no mention of onions! Even with the menu clearly in front of her she continued to argue that it was obvious onions were in and on the burger and her tone was as if to say I was stupid for not realising! I have visited The Sands a number of times and have usually had a good experience but the attitude of the manager / owner was awful, she even expected us to pay for the burger which I declined to do seeing as what was brought out to me was not as described. The whole thing should of been handled differently, I don’t often complain but I really don’t expect to be spoken to like I am idiot. The waiter and waitresses were brilliant and very polite it’s a shame the manager / owner isn’t.

Probably the best prawn Mary rose sandwich I have ever had. Lots of filling on lovely fresh bread, with a few tortilla chips. Lovely clean premises and friendly staff and a good choice of food from ice creams to fish and chips, cakes and sandwiches. Will definitely drive the 20mile journey to eat here again in the future.

We ordered food a bananna milkshake and carrot cake and pouring cream.

Need a drink with your dog no problem here take them in with you, nice food good cup of tea and good price, clean toilets

Met a party of friends and decided to eat in. I ordered the steak baguette with chips, the latter double cooked. It was ok. My friend had the cod in batter, which was ok. Our party of friends had the daily breakfast and left some of it on their plates. The speciality tea was stale and the tea pot had a lid that did not close, which meant the tea got cold. The crockery had seen better days and did not match! For the prices charged, I expected better. Service was ok, but one had to chase things up. I would not be returning to this establishment, other than it's a good place to meet, being a good land mark.

Stopped off with my 2 under sons both under 4 and grumpy due to sustenance. Staff were really helpful and instantly friendly. Place was clean tidy and plenty of room and bonus the free parking opposite.

There breakfast to die for. Fab staff , clean very injiyable. Good prices been every weekend all season and not one complaint. Dogs welcome

We popped in for takeaway chips; our youngest not of an age to sit and eat sadly, as the menu was really appealing. Would have loved to stay for lunch and a special gin and an ice-cream Sunday!!! The staff were lovely, the atmosphere relaxed and friendly, and we had the most incredible takeaway chips ever!!! Delicious, crispy and fluffy and such great value! Huge recommendation!!

Some of the staff were attentive but the majority acted busy to avoid serving customers. Although the food was fine we found the atmosphere awful. The noise in there was unbearable. Waitresses constantly slamming the the door loudly in and out of the kitchen. Also the door to the outdoor toilets was constantly being slammed or left open which let a very cold draft in. Staff have no concept of how loudly they were slamming plates, cutlery etc as they didn't even try to do it quietly. I left with a headache in the end.

We went there for breakfast ,nice staff dog friendly comfortable. All was good apart from when food came on cold plates utensils arrived few minutes later ,And the breakfast wasn't hot it was warm we also had to wait quite a long time. A minor thing I guess but usually I would expect it to be piping hot it wasn't . Sands is a wonderful place and generally very good . We were unlucky I think . We will defiantly go again as usually excellent .

I love going to the Sands Bistro in Borth. I find the staff very helpful and pleasant. Food is always nicely done and have never had to wait too long. Overall a great place to try. Dog friendly too

Nice little cafe in Borth, not that there’s many to choose from.

I've been to this cafe a few times, both as a group and as a couple. On the last few times I've experienced pretty slow service, and on the most recent occasion there were food items unavailable. I thought I would get these negatives out the way first so I can then move onto the better elements of this place.

We come here quite often on the way to Aberystwyth as its a nightmare to park in Aberystwyth ..... A decent breakfast with good quality ingredients. Plenty of parking and a nice place to sit outside on the sunny days.. The only let down is the cheap sauces and not the proper hp.

I thought serving tea in a generous stainless steel teapot with a stainless steel pot of hot water had died out - but no! Sands can still serve a REAL pot of tea and it was perfect - as were the Olympian breakfast. Smiley and fast service. Very happy, very reasonable, and we will be back. Free parking too!

Visited the Sands three times this week whilst staying in Borth. Good selection on the menu. Not a vegetarian but had veggie breakfast and a veggie burger and both very tasty. Yummy ice creams too.

Have eaten here before, but this time we where staying in Borth with our granddaughters and found the food good, the staff friendly and helpful, but made sure we where there before it fills up which it does as its such good value. I had the Marilyn and myself had the Beef Baguette which was excellent,2 the girls had Ham and egg (only comment I think it should have been 2 eggs) and the youngest had a children's spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread followed by ice cream, we all left well full.

Reviews on here suggest it’s a fab place and in respect of the food quality and quantity it is. It’s right by the beach, a little gem inside however and this is a massive however the wait time when busy is absolutely ridiculous, I have never know a place like it. Went at 1pm today and was told the wait time was 40 mins, we paused and took a moment as we have two small children but thought we are here now let’s go with it. Food came out constantly for other tables and it didn’t even appear that busy.....our food didn’t arrive until an hour later!! Yep 2pm it arrived and that is after pestering to find out where it was! It is not the front of house staff as they are constantly busy and doing everything, the issue is with the kitchen whether that is staff or space but it is unacceptable and such a shame as the food is truly delicious. A few people had this experience from what i observed today which is beyond a shame. Hope they sort it out.

In an excellent spot opposite the beach, the Sands Bistro offers food, drinks, ice cream and cake. It has inside and outside seating and welcomes dogs. It is a lovely friendly family run business and we tried breakfast, sandwich’s, tea cakes, scones and ice cream over the week staying in Borth. There is a car park to the side and very clean toilets at the rear. They were also very helpful with information about nearby things to see. The gift shop next door is also part of the same family run business. Even has WiFi. Will definitely come again when back in Borth.

Me and my partner live in Aberystwyth and have done since August, we absolutely love Borth and go very often to take the dog for long walks on the beach!

We visited Sands bistro as the caravan park restaurant was busy and showing football. We are so glad we took the decision to try this bistro. It was quiet in there (Sunday evening) so we managed to get a table for 8 and then we were given the menus. We then discovered children ate free if an adult bought a main course because it was a school holiday. This was brilliant because we had 4 children and 4 adults. Result! The food didn't take long and we all enjoyed it- the men had ordered the biggest burgers which didn't disappoint taste wise! The children's meals were big and they all enjoyed them. Really friendly staff who looked after us and made sure everything was OK meant we had a great experience.

Very friendly staff with a nice atmosphere, however we waiting over half an hour for a few sandwiches, kids pasta and a burger. The food came out minutes after chasing up where our food was, then 1 piece of garlic bread with the kids meals only came out 5 minutes after the rest of the food. Food was nice, service was disappointing. Will try other places before we come back

Really enjoyed the food, bit pricey but food is set out in a nice way and it's dog friendly. The only thing is that there was a bit of a long wait for the food, we went quite late in the day. However, the staff were really helpful and nice and there was a nice atmosphere.

We arrived in Borth after a drive round from barmouth , parked up over the road from The sands and decided to call in and try breakfast . Good selection of food and drinks and some lovely looking desserts and great selection of icecreams. We ordered two cooked breakfasts which arrived in quick time on hot plates and the food was lovely . Friendly helpful staff too . We returned a few weeks later and had lunch , again all hot and lovely . I had beef lasagne with salad and chunky chips which were nice and crispy and hubby had breakfast again . Will return again in June !! Hopefully have room for a dessert or an ice cream this time

Stayed at Brynowen Holiday park recently, using Sands bistro most mornings.

I'm a local and this is the best place in the village to get a full English if you don't like fried bread,nice quality products and you can sit outside in the sun.just had a breakfast for the first time this year and was reminded why I'm always disappoint when I go.the fried bread is cooked in the deep fat fryer which is all wrong.im sat here feeling ill.fried bread should be dipped in the fryer a split second and fried on the griddle.i may request they do mine like that next time I go

Called in for breakfast - good selection of food and drinks, food was good quality and service very quick. The cooked breakfasts were great with plenty of food on the plate.

Had a lovely lunch Chips were Fab!! Some lovely cakes and tea in a pot with extra hot water.. Staff very Friendly but think they need some extra training, I know it’s early in the season but some were very vague with the menu, pricing and how ordering etc works.. We were very honest and told them we actually owed more than the total on the Bill, our wine and beers hadn’t been added.. Visited the following day for Breakfast which was FABULOUS!!!! But again girl at the till had no idea what we had,had . And the lady on the opposite table got frustrated with 2 different staff members asking her if she would like her toasted tea cake to come out with her husbands sausage sandwich which she replied yes please and he’d still eaten half of it before it arrived..

We ate as a family was lovely, very clean and really welcoming I had the leek and mushroom crumble it was truly delicious, the children’s portion are very generous.

Walked from Aber with 3 kids under 7 and a dog. This place was a blessing for lunch. Kids toys, dogs welcome and very nice food. Perfect!

Passing through Borth, the Sands has its own car park and allow customers to take their dogs inside. The range of hot and cold food and cakes was great. Lovely slice of cake and a great coffee set us up for the rest of our journey.

My partner and I decided to have a little break away at the Brynowen Caravan Park in Borth to get away from it all for a bit. On one of the days, we wanted a bite to eat for lunch in Borth. There isn’t too much around so went on TripAdvisor to see what there was and this is how we found Sands. We had driven past it before but didn’t think of popping in.

Although we come to Borth regularly we had missed this little gem - although actually not little at all. Surprised at the space inside, with two conservertories to the side and rear. Initially calling for coffee, (which was great) we stayed for lunch. the service was excellent, and the food of a good standard. the seating was good, with a mix of soft seating and table seating.

It was raining heavily in Borth and it was great to enter this cafe. Staff greeted us and gave us menus to order food at table. All day breakfasts were cooked to order and were tasty.
