Very disappointed, didn’t have items ordered so opted for a steak, wish I hadn’t bothered as was very fatty so hardly touch it. Once plates were cleared away waited 40 minutes to see a desert menu but didn’t see another waitress again. Was going to have a sweet and a coffee but due to lack of service we decided to go to the bar, paid up and left.

Remembrance Sunday. Booked a lunch for 2 and had a very delicious meal. The staff were really polite, friendly and attentive. The gluten-free options were really good, as was the vegetarian chestnut roast. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

What a disappointment. Despite there being ample staff, there was no welcome at all. We had a table booked for Sunday lunch, but no one greeted us and the large number of staff stood around talking to each other, avoiding eye contact with arriving diners. After a wait at the bar of nearly 10 minutes one of the staff drifted across and seated us. He was chewing gum continuously, which didn’t give me a great first impression. He continued to chew gum the entire time we were there. We ordered the nut roast which was the poorest, sloppiest, rice based pattie you could imagine. There was no texture and was lukewarm, as was the rest of the meal. Both the starter and the dessert were the smallest portion size you could imagine. The dessert was a slice of tart that was 4cm at the widest point and just 90cm long. When we needed to pay, we had to go to the bar as no one came to the table. Yet again the staff just stood at the bar and avoided all eye contact. We waited 8 minutes before anyone was gracious enough to take my money. I would never return.

What a delightful place. I was only visiting as someone had mentioned how good the cream teas were. I browsed in the delightful shop selling beautiful cuts of meat, cakes and goodies. The adjoining cafe/restaurant looks lovely and a pleasant young lady explained what they offered. The area that it is situated in crosses some beautiful countryside. I have booked to have tea in November and look forward to it very much.

Food was ok but portions have definitely got smaller since we first went more than once earlier in the year. Service was not great after we were told when booking they could only book us in at 5.30 .....no bookings after that time even though it was a Saturday evening. So we went at 5.30 and then it took over half an hour before they took our orders! Finally the last two times we have been there have been large dogs allowed in the restaurant running around amongst the Tables whilst people were eating.....not great I’m afraid. Needless to say we won’t be hurrying back sadly.

Went to Samuels Farm shop to top up with some meat. Shop is excellent and great quality. Then went for a coffee and some cake, not so good. Now, whilst I appreciate it was around lunchtime, and they did appear busy. We were given a menu and told someone would take our order shortly. After that, we were ignored whilst staff passed by not even looking at us. Eventually, I had to go to the bar to make the order. There were periods of time when there were 4 staff behind the . none appeared to be doing anything. I eventually had to go back to the bar and stated that we seemed to be being ignored. And of course they were really busy. A short while later, a slice of cake was plonked on the table by a really miserable young girl who made no comment or even looked at us. The coffee eventually turned up and was good. But overall, not a good experience

The farm shop itself is definitely worth a visit. Staff are great and helpful. The meat is lovely and there is so much choice. The restaurant is a different case. We popped in for coffee unfortunately the staff their not so great. One lady was miserable and never raised a smile. The other seemed a little.put out it was only coffee. But the coffee was lovely. We will be back for our shopping and coffee as.the overall experience is great.

We were in a group of 19 for Sunday Lunch. At the time of booking we asked if we could be downstairs due to some elderly people in the group with mobility issues. When we arrived we had been allocated upstairs. The lady behind the bar was wonderful and juggled things around so we could be downstairs. The food was faultless( but make sure you ask for extra veg as not enough for everyone). The only issue was the long wait between courses. We were booked in at 1:30pm and it was 2:30pm before those who had ordered starters received them. Once everyone finished their mains we waited and waited for the table to be cleared so we could order desserts. In the end one of our party approached the bar to ask for the tables to be cleared. There is one waitress in particular who either needs to change career or have some hospitality training. She is rather abrupt and comes across as rather rude and miserable. When bringing the cutlery she almost threw them in the middle of the table for us to disperse. A smile and please and thank you wouldn’t have gone amiss. As said before the food is faultless but please give the staff some hospitality training 😏

Attended a group party on Sunday lunchtime. The food was plentiful and excellent (huge portions!) beautifully cooked roast lamb with lots of freshly cooked vegetables. A lovely atmosphere and good service. Visited the farm shop too. Well worth a visit.

Some of the reviews on here are pretty daft. Knocking it down because it's now a restaurant rather than a cafe for example. The outcome is that the star level I don't think is reflective of the experience you can expect. Certainly not the one I had today. The building is beautiful. Small play area for the kids. Great farm shop. This was a half way meeting point for a family lunch. Great sized portions and price was fair. Servers and staff were friendly and attentive. There was only 3 for a busy lunch service. But they managed. We ordered, chatted, ate and left in about and hour and a half. This seemed perfectly acceptable. Will visit again

Was here today for my baby shower. Everything was perfect. We all had the Sunday lunch and very much enjoyed it. All fresh and served very quickly. Service was bang on with taking drink orders and coming back with them quickly. Also came up to the seating area with plates so we could have the cake that was made for my shower. Lovely setting with friend staff. Would come back again.
