Have not been here in a while as had a bad meal some time ago. Decided to give it a try again and wow I'm glad i did. 4 of us went and everyone loved their food. My mixed grill was especially delicious. Service was great very friendly wait staff and customised an item for my friend as after it arrived was too hot. Nothing was too much trouble and prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back again.

My first meal with 4 friends in this lovely restaurant but it certainly won't be my last. We all chose different meals from the menu and all agreed that the food was delicious. The staff were attentive but not obtrusive. The background music was pleasant and set a nice atmosphere.. A great evening was had by all.

So far so good, had a takeaway it was absolutely gorgeous. We had a vegetarian dish as-well as a seafood curry with king prawns. All served at its best standards.

DON'T WASTE YOUR WELL EARNED MONEY. This was the worst indian meal I've had since the last time I had ordered from this restaurant. I might as well have taken my £60 and thrown it down the drain along with the chef's recipe book. The chicken Tikka masala is a fake, precooked chicken and a pre made sauce then added together is a complete and utter insult to Indian cuisine. The garlic nan had the same consistency as a frisby. I might as well had been eating cardboard as it had absolutely NO flavour or seasoning to speak of. I should have followed my gut instinct and chosen another restaurant locally to Cheam Village but, I thought surely they must have changed in the past few years but, alas no. How they manage to remain in business and call themselves an Indian restaurant should in itself be a good idea for an Agatha Christie novel as it's a complete mystery. The 1 star I've given is for the delivery driver only. The next time I want Indian food locally I'll order a Charlie Bingham ready meal, at least you know what your getting and it tastes good.

We took our daughter for her birthday celebration as her friend recommended this Indian restaurant. She was really happy as the manger arranged a cake for her. Overall food and service was excellent. We will definitely come back.

We went as a group of 4 but unfortunately there was a group of approx 20 men who were extremely noisy so much so that we left early along with other tables of diners. The staff did nothing to calm the men down and as a consequence our and others had our evening spoilt. The food was ok but not so good I'd risk another visit. They claim they are also a cocktail bar but on the evening we went we are told 'no cocktails" as the barman hadn't turned up and no one else could make them. All in all a rubbish evening which we won't repeat.

No atmosphere at all on a Saturday @8.00pm. Basically empty …. Unsurprising given the sugar sweet 80s ‘easy listening’ type ppp music being played loudly which the manager refused to turn down. Cut our losses after a beer & left. Sad to see a restaurant that was once so good now empty…& for good reason.

This was my best ever family dine out in the city. Our host and owner Mr Bhaskar Bora was truly amazing and the staff was fantastic. He made sure that everything was fine. We were very happy with the service all the way to the end of our meal. It was my parent’s wedding anniversary and we chose this place for their uniqueness and mouthwatering food. We were searching for places which can serve our own Assamese food and guess what, we found this restaurant and Ms Mili Bora organised a beautiful meal for us. The menu was specially crafted as per our request. Masor Tenga, (Tangy Fish Cury) Bengena Pitika (Boiled Eggplant mash with veggies) & Til diya Murgi (Chicken cooked with white sesame seeds). Any Assamese and Non-Assamese craving for some best delicacies from our homeland in the city, must visit this place. Apart from that they have the wide range of menu items which can serve all kinds of taste buds. We tried the sheek kabab and paneer tikka for starters. They also have some nice range of cocktails listed in their bar menu. Sharing some pictures of our best moments from celebration. A big thank you to all the staff and specially Mr & Mrs Bora. I Strongly recommend to everyone ❤️ it’s feels home away from home.

We had to wait over two hours for food to be delivered. Driver showed up just as we put what we could scavenge from the freezer into the oven so we didn't accept the order. Maybe this could have been avoided if they'd answered the phone. Short of staff? If so, don't be greedy and let people think you'll get your food in a reasonable time. Sorry, you have enough competition for us not to go back.

We went as a group of 6. Initially spent time at the bar and the comfy sofas enjoying a round of cocktails. The Pornstar and the Pineapple Express were amazing. Then we were escorted to the table on the platform. Nice music and ambiance. We were regularly asked for further drinks, poppadums and food. The owner also made sure we were comfortable. There was a little wait for food as the restaurant was nearly full but when the food came out, it was just awesome. Even for a fussy eater like my husband, he absolutely loved it In the end the owner offered us Bailey's shots on the house We simply had a fantastic experience and will definitely come back again very soon. Thank you for looking after us and best wishes with the restaurant.

This place should remain closed. Ordered delivery and was given yesterday’s food. Mutton was tough and the food didn’t look fresh. Went for an anniversary lunch. After ordering staff slyly came back and asked if we wanted popadums and kind of felt it was good will gesture but they charged us for it. And the price was cheap popadums is quite expensive. Our lunch was prepaid as a surprise by my father in law. We were just out by £5 but without making our meal anything special we paid the £5. Avoid as this place is greedy and does nothing to make special occasions anything special.

I have been going to the Samsara for quite a few year and have always enjoyed the food and have had very good service, shame the service has gone down. We had a meal last week drinks order was incorrect, asked for starters with mains but served up separately and then long wait for mains, then no one around to ask for cutlery Then a wait for plates to be cleared , left with food debris and serviettes on table, nobody bothered to ask if we would like coffees. It was not busy only two other tables were full, half the time no waiting staff in sight or sitting down. Shame because my daughter was going to bring a group of friends but after the service said it was unlikely she would come back.

Firstly, the food was delightful. The servers were superb and ever so polite. We went on a Wednesday (Eat out to help scheme) and it was absolutely packed, the service was slower than usual, but this is to be expected, so no problem. The staff pre-warned us that they were extremely busy so times might be a little slower which we appreciated. They were attentive at all times, if you needed any more drinks or poppadoms they were very quick to bring these over. All the food was delicious, I ordered the tilapia curry and it was very fresh and tasty as were all the other dishes and curries we had. The whole restaurant was very clean and lively which added to the nice atmosphere. I would personally like to thank the staff that handled an extremely rude customer within the restaurant on Wednesday 19th from about 7pm-8.15pm, they handled him professionally and stayed polite throughout the whole situation even when the customer decided to start shouting abusive threats and getting in the faces of all the staff trying to HELP him. He was simply looking for a free meal, and we noticed from the start he was continuously ordering beer after beer, he knew his plan was to get a free meal from the start. Management even reduced his bill by a lot to make up for the slowish service, but he was adamant he wasn't paying for a single item including the beer he had or the prosecco which another person on his table had ordered. Great work Samsara! We will most definitely be returning for another lovely meal. Thank you

Ordered a delivery of chicken shashlik and a Lamb Lahori. The shashlik spices were not cooked with the chicken and tasted like someone had rubbed them on as an afterthought. The vegetables were undercooked, with half a tomato being cooked slightly on one side and the rest of it raw. The entire meal was greasy. The lamb lahori was not spicy and tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. The roti bread was undercooked and was still dough form in parts. Really disappointed for what used to be a fantastic restaurant. For the price of the curry the food needs to be better quality

Dont normally do reviews but this has to be complained about! Was the most expensive & disappointing curry takeaway weve ever had! Omg not only did hubby have to wait an extra 40 mins for collecting it, when we opened it up it was like where the hell is the rest of it? We paid £48 (with discount for collecting included!) for two of us and I didnt even have a starter. The portions we ordered were remarkably small & my tandoori prawns for £18 were very disappointing - def not worth that price. My Mushroom bhaji container was 2 thirds empty and the naans were small & unfilling. Such a rip off & huge disappointment so will not be going to Samsara ever again! With all this Corona virus chaos going on a takeaway curry was something to look forward to so I'm not only bitterly disappointed but still flamin hungry! AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID

I'm disappointed to say this was the worst experience i've had in a restaurant for many years. Service was shocking - with every request taking 20-30 mins to arrive at the table - even water. To the extent, I ordered a beer which arrived in a large bottle, prompting me to ask for a glass, which was greeted with a huff... but alas, the glass never came. The food was tasty but average - at a higher cost. Waiters took no time to explain any chef specials or dishes - resulting in a dish arriving at the table, so spicy, that even for those with the most experienced tastebuds would have suffered. The outside looks so promising, yet inside feels dated and underwhelming. I write this in the hope the owners take note - these are easy fixes, that can otherwise ruin a night.

Table booked For 8pm but thought we would have a drink at the bar first. Waited 20 mins to receive these and then only after we had chased a couple of times - no apology Sat down to eat and waited over an hour for the main courses. When it did finally arrive most of it was of a decent standard but one of the meals was lukewarm at best. Various excuses given as to why but little genuine apology It was so late and disappointing we decided to skip desserts and leave. By now the restaurant was pretty much empty as it was nearly 3 hours since we got there and had 1 course !! Tried to have a sensible chat with the manager about the problems we had incurred and that I expected a discount from the bill. After much discussion he finally agreed 10% which to be honest was a bit of an insult but wanted to leave so agreed to this. My issue with this was his lack of apology and acknowledgment of a problem with the service in particular and tried to suggest we were being unreasonable. Terrible attitude, average food, shocking service. Won’t be going back, there’s far better Indian restaurants in the village. Mark

Service is so slow and confused. The restaurant is very noisy when busy. We were shouting above the noise! The waiter was quite rude when we commented on how long everything took... The first drinks took 20 minutes just to order... It was an hour before we could order dinner. He said"It's your fault".Strangely, we were brought poppadoms on three occasions, which we had not ordered. Very disorganised and chaotic. They make a huge amount of fuss over their "obvious regulars" when they arrive, making sure their favourite table is free. The food all looked the same and was average Indian restaurant offering. So if you want to have to shout at each other to converse, and if you are not thirsty or hungry... Take your chancesI will never return.

I am happy that Samsara is also open for brunch and lunch now too. There are special offers on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There is also an early dining offer from Monday to Saturday. Once a week there is also live music! I was very pleased with the great variety of the menu with such a fabulous choice of appetisers, main dishes and desserts. I opted for my favourite chicken saag accompanied with naan which was absolutely delicious. For dessert I tried the traditional pistachio kulfi. It was very refreshing and flavoursome. There was also a wide variety of ice creams, sundaes and desserts to choose from. My whole family were very pleased with their food especially the chicken tikka which was very succulent and a generous portion, Naga lamb which was spicy and very appetising and the Naga chicken which was delicious and flavoursome. My family are originally from India and we were delighted not only with the sensory feast but with the authenticity of the cuisine. Samsara has a wonderful range of wine but we particularly enjoyed the Cobra beer, a perfect accompaniment to our meal! However, for us there is something very special about Samsara. The waiting staff are good but we were very impressed with Shah and Shahbir's service which was simply outstanding. Whenever we dine at Samsara we have been struck by Shah and Shahbir's efficiency, kindness and empathy. As a Head of HR within the hospitality industry for many years, I am skilled at identifying superb service and attention to detail. My family and I are always delighted with Shah's service. Shah is the manager of Samsara. My father is disabled with mobility issues and Shah was very attentive and engaging and his customer service skills were excellent. Both Shah and Shahbir have always been very helpful, friendly and warm and we always leave with a very good impression of Samsara Restaurant. They make our experience at Samsara extra special and I believe they truly are a fantastic asset to the team. Thank you so much for your hospitality! We look forward to returning to Samsara very soon!

We waited over an hour for our starters to be sent out, to then be told there was a system issue and our order didn’t go through. We waited a further 20 minutes for the starters to come out, which were mediocre. In the meantime, we had ordered some mocktails, and although these took some time to come out, were very tasty. We asked the waiter for the same mocktails as we’d previously had, but when they came out, they didn’t taste very nice so we sent them back and asked them to be re-made. The drinks came out for a third time, and again, they didn’t taste how they did the first time we had them, so we asked them to change the drinks for something different. Our table was then cleared of our plates from the starters we had had, but whilst the waiter was clearing our table, he made a rude remark about us complaining about the mocktails and that we shouldn’t have finished them and then complained about it. I tried to explain to the waiter there was a misunderstanding, but he wouldn’t let me talk, and proceeded to talk over me. I asked him to let me finish so I could explain the situation to him, but he wasn’t interested in letting me finish. He was extremely rude and arrogant, and it didn’t occur to him he was arguing with a heavily pregnant woman. The table next to us were also complaining about how long they had been made to wait, and when their food did come out, said it was horrendous and that they wouldn’t have served it to their dog. The Manager was extremely rude to them also, and clearly can’t take constructive criticism.

Went to this restaurant after reading recommendations. The food is average, no distinguishing features - all curries tasted the same, over powering taste of tomatoes. The breads were nice, cocktails have been given an Indian name, but are essentially the ones you find at any bar.

I was extremely disappointed with the delivery from the restaurant.. having eaten in the restaurant numerous times I know it is a serves delicious food but there delivery service I appalling.. I placed the order at 8.15 and received an email to say it would be between 45-50 min (expected on a Saturday night) I then revived another email to say they are busy so could potentially be longer expected arrival 9.30pm again not ideal but fine.. by 9.45 with no arrival of food I called the restaurant to be told that they were busy during the night so had decided to not send the food at all as apparently my postcode was “quiet along way away from the restaurant”! So why accept the order? And not tell me that u had no intention of sending the order.. of course a refund was offered but by this point it’s nearly 10pm.. a simple decline of the order would have been fine and I would have made other arrangements

I’ve been meaning to try this place for years, so I’m glad that I have finally gotten around to it! From reading past reviews it would appear that the owners had tried to change their business model/concept a few years ago - from a ‘British Indian restaurant’ style outlet, to a trendy Indian tapas/cocktail bar. That didn’t seem to go well at all and no doubt following a barrage of negative feedback (probably coupled with a huge dip in profits) the owners the reverted back to what their punters want!

A new obsession? I noticed the Food Hygiene ratings on two other Indian restaurants in Cheam - they both had 3 stars. Samsara has 4! Bizarrely it is optional in England to show the rating (but mandatory in Northern Ireland and Wales).

Last evening, JULY 07th, myself and my Fiance' decided to go for a curry, locally, for her birthday celebrations. We summed and aahhed over several local businesses however only the one delivered in every department and that was and will be for a very very long time indeed. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a cheeky, smiling waiter and he really made our evening naking me feel incredibly special indeed, he didn't stop smiling the entire evening.

Just back from a bank holiday sunday meal at Samsara. No booking and was very busy when we arrived but we were greeted promptly and a table was organised for us by the same gentleman (manager or maitre’ d, not sure but he looked after us throughout the evening and was very pleasant) Straight away told about the great value sunday night offer and brought water and poppadams. Modern decor and buzzy atmosphere. My food was delicious and portions were large despite the special offer (10.95 for starter, main and rice, starters included lamb chops and surprisingly received 2 generous chops) My husband misread the menu and ended up ordering a very spicy dish (clearly said so on the menu but he somehow missed it) asked for some yoghurt , provided with a large dish of it immediately without question and the manager came to check on us and let us know that we could ask for the dish without chilli topping etc. Totally our fault for misordering but you wouldn't have known it from the staffs reaction, husbands pride was discretely left intact. Naan bread was particularly yum and we will be back, especially at those prices. Excellent value and taste.

Samsara has always been an long established constant in Cheam Village. The quality of it's food and friendly service is well known in the area. Recently, the owner made the brave decision to take the restaurant in a different direction and radically change the menu to one inspired by authentic street food. This is the trend now in central London and it is fast becoming hugely popular as more people travel to the Indian sub-continent and are far more aware of the this exciting style of food. Had this been a brand new restaurant that had opened around the corner as an alternative to the current collection of Indian restaurants, I believe it would have been a massive success. However, Samsara's regulars did not react favourably to the changes and given the, (generalisation, I admit) conservative dynamic of the area, the project was doomed. There was no alternative but to abandon the new street food style and return to its' former concept in it's entirety. It's now back to what it does best and -rightly or wrongly - what the regulars want. The food is of an absolutely outstanding quality: Clean, fresh flavours, presented in style with friendly and efficient service. My favourite is the railway lamb where the meat is so tender it just falls away from the bone and the flavours are rich, deep and totally addictive. I cannot recommend Samsara highly enough. It's back and it's as good as it ever was!

Great tasting food, friendly and excellent service. We booked for Tuesday evening to celebrate mum’s 85th. We were a group of 7, (5 adults and 2 kids). Attentive but not rushed in anyway, we all had a great evening. They have the usual suspects on the menu but also many more interesting and different dishes. The lamb chops are really tasty and tender. They even surprised us with a really nice touch with a complimentary cake, candles and singing happy birthday for mum. This really made her (and our) evening. Will certainly be back.

Why has one of the best Indian Restaurants in Cheam been ruined. Used to have lovely ambiance, with grest food and service. Recommended to A friend and went for a meal last night. Total disaster, waste of time and money. Menu awful, very limited choice and expensive. Service very poor, very slow, one person doing all the work with others standing around chatting, poppodoms arrived after main. Very noisey, could not hold a conversation. Those that didnt bother to wait for food did the right thing. Lost my custom would not bother going back.

I have been using samsara for many years the Indian food was always amazing. So I was absolutely gutted when it closed down for a long period of time. Which lucky was just a refurb, which wasn’t advertised very well may I add. So when it reopened I had to book a table straight away the amazing food is back so I though.sadly not we walked in to find a cocktail bar a the top level why I don’t know. We sat down at our table which was to small for a family of 4 to eat comfortably. The menu arrived I was gobsmacked at what lay before me nothing I recognise the waitress was very helpful trying to sell the new menu to us. I wasn’t having I wanted a curry but we now have an Indian restaurant that doesn’t sell rice??. Or any curry dishes I was gutted that the number 1 Indian restaurant has got it completely wrong. We ended up not ordering anything on the menu finished our drinks and left. And went to the star Indian restaurant around the corner which had everything we wanted. Not as good as the old samsara so change it back or I’m afraid you will only be open as a Indian bar.

I visited Samsara with a few friends on Friday of last week, I was shocked to see that the manager was shouting at a young member of staff who was helping out the bartender. I'm not too sure the young mans age but he seemed under age and I do not expect to see that kind of behaviour while my friends and I try to eat our dinner. The young man walked past my table and said goodbye. I then had to wait 15 minutes for my drinks. The food was very nice and all the credit goes to the bartenders cocktails.

The food at samsara remains really good, and for that reason we will continue to get food from here regularly, though probably more for takeaways now than eating in.
