Love this place. Love popping for lunch or dinner regularly. Great staff, great food. When do you open again. I need my sams fix

Great food, great service and especially great value. Had walked past many times before and finally went in. Will definitely go again.

Planned to go here for dinner on our last night in Cornwall. Had checked website and their social media before arriving.....it was shut. Extremely disspointed as we then had to try find somewhere as an alternative. Not sure why it was shut, other families had also turned up to also leave disspointed.

We had an excellent meal here, great choice on the menu and ample portion size. The staff were friendly and the diner had a cheery feel to it. Sarah was really pleasant and there was an offer to box up our food for a takeaway but we managed to squeeze in every last crumb 😅

Ordered a click and collect takeaway - got a call at the time we were supposed to be collecting our food saying that they had run out of fresh produce and so there would be no food but we could call in ( as we’re local) and they would arrange for a refund! Not impressed!

Super friendly staff! If you love American Food, look no further! The Burgers are insanely good!!! Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Back on shore again and a trip to the diner is needed. This morning was one of the days I needed Sam's food, Sarah pulled out all the stops yet again. Well done to the diner team. Food yet again totally great as for the rest..... Do I need to say any more I travel from Plymouth to eat here.

My family visited Sam’s diner back in December and were looked after wonderfully by the staff - especially John who even arranged for a member of staff to pop out and get some pineapple so I could have it on my pizza! This was our second to visit to Sam’s diner and both have been really memorable. It is a very welcoming place with an excellent and varied family-friendly menu. Our kids absolutely love going there and always say how delicious the food is - especially the amazing desserts! The staff always go out of their way to make our visits memorable. We hope to be back again a couple of times this year and can’t wait!

First time visit on the last day before they closed assumed for winter. Had the chilli dog and the Philly sandwich. Prompt service, the food was tasty and Sams local beer was tasty. Would definitely go back.

We arrived just after opening and the place was empty so had our pick of tables. Went with pancakes, and while they were not American sized they were delicious with bacon and maple syrup. We understand the place closed for the winter months but we will certainly return if we are back in the area and it’s open.

I came here for breakfast after a heavy night what we needed was a fry up and I heard sams diner does the best fry ups in town! Came here for first time today after sitting down ordering our food to then get told it was going to be 40 min wait well tbh you could have told us on the phone when we booked the table.. we waited for an hour to then discover food was so black it crumbled in our hands All of Meat was so dry it tasted like paperOnly thing that was hot was sausages and chips rest was on it’s way to be warm / cold. The food at sams is always so lovely wether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner but the attitude of some of the staff members is appalling. A blonde boy who couldn’t seem to give a damn that he was working served us for breakfast, no smiles, no welcoming gestures, he didn’t even speak once when bringing up our food or drinks just dumped it on the table and proceeded to go back behind the till to go on his phone direct view of me, I’m not sure what others in the restaurant thought but he was not attentive at all. Myself and my partner came here for the first time tonight hoping for a nice American meal. When we walked in the door we were eventually greeted by a member of staff asking if he could help. We said “a table for 2 please”, the staff member points to the tables and goes “you can pick any one that is free”. We sat down and he disappeared.. We were slightly confused wether we had to order at the bar or it was table service. The staff member then comes back with menus puts them down on the table and disappears yet again. We then had another member of staff ask if we would like some drinks and we also said we were ready to order food! The 2 cokes we ordered with no ice came with ice and when the food arrived I asked for no pickles on my hot dog and received pickles and my partners chicken wings smelt funny. The food was average, it particularly wasn’t anything we expected - turns out the chef was good with bbq sauce and that’s about it! After our meal, my partner was looking around and noticed the windows... They were filthy dirty, with old sellotape stuck to them and sticky hand prints all over them! After receiving our bill we went up to pay.. There was a member of staff at the till busy. He didn’t acknowledge us to know that we had been seen so we were stood a good 5 minutes waiting to pay. The till boy asked us what table we were on and I responded rather sarcastically that it was printed on our bill. While we were waiting we could see the open aired kitchen and we heard a bloke wearing a bandana and what we assume is the chef both swearing where they could easily be heard. The staff could do with name badges for next time (which is unluckily we will go back) so we can pick on individuals for there lack of customer service, but it turns out all members of staff lacked customer service skills on that night.

Eventually shown to a table after a longish wait in the doorway. After 10 minutes of being ignored I went to the bar to order drinks and ask for menus. Even then it was a further 10 minutes before a server came to take our order and during that time we watched several other tables come in, be given menus and have orders taken before us. The food was OK (eventually), nothing special, but the service was some of the worst I've had anywhere. Totally disinterested and morose. If I was less honest, I probably could have walked straight out at the end of our meal and no one would have noticed. As a business owner, I hate to give poor online reviews as I know the damage they can do but on this occasion it seems only reasonable to try to point out that the staff in this restaurant need some urgent re-training or they will do serious damage to your business.

Food was hot and delicious, and big portions! Very clean and had some great songs playing too! Not too pricey, definitely try visit again.

Our initial impression was good but this was soon changed. We ordered 4 cooked breakfast and 1 pancakes & bacon all with drinks. Firstly the milk shakes had no cream which we didn't get advised of until after it arrived (no reduction offered) Regarding the cooked breakfasts, the only item cooked properly was the beans and tomatoes everything else was over cooked. The sausages were just a few seconds from being black, the bacon was dry, eggs hard, black pudding crispy and mushrooms cooked to death. When it can to the pancakes they were dry and overcooked and the bacon was salty. The waiting staff were pleasant and friendly but when it can to the cooks we were less than impressed. There seem to be a guy making things out the back as our milk shake and pancakes appeared with him through some swing doors, his cloths were dirty and his shoes were filthy. While we were there a delivering of bread was made, when the driver arrived he asked for assistance but know one helped, he then proceeded to use his bare hands to put the loads on the bar counter and then later a staff member moved them again with bare hands. My advice to anyone going to the Par market is go inside the food hall and have your breakfast, the vendors are alot cheaper and also better quality.

We had to wait 45 minutes for food but the burgers were worth the wait. The chilli burger was very good. The only thing we didn’t like was the mac and cheese. But that was only a side order.

Fab meal for four. 2 chose Cheese burgers, a Sam dog and one Fish dog. All delicious but the best fries ever. Juicy burgers. Beautiful fish. A really enjoyable meal and atmosphere.

Was originally heading to another place but it was closed so on the recommendation of a policeman who stopped we went to sams diner. Great place if you like American style food which we do. Couldn’t fault the philly cheese steak or the dirty hotdog. Mac and cheese was good also . Only downside was beer wasn’t great but overall would recommend.

Took food home from here a couple of nights ago. We went for the giant burger to share. It’s comes with a decent portion of fries, coleslaw and a pickle. Amazing value for money as they offer 20% discount on takeaway items.

Stopped here for breakfast after packing away our camping things, figuring a good breakfast would lessen the need for a stop. As it was, we were barely hungry 7 hours later when we finally got home. Food was very nice, the kids raved about their pancakes. Only gripe was we had to ask for a refill of our bottomless coffee, rather than being offered one.

I see Sam’s disdain for the customer that was (maybe still is) evident in the original Fowey restaurant has carried over to their diner. Not in the young staff, who were friendly enough, but in the fact that they couldn’t be bothered to employ a grown up to manage them. Perhaps if they had I could have had an answer as to why the 2 4 1 nacho offer advertised was mysteriously withdrawn, why my wife’s burger didn’t arrive, and why an attempt was made to charge us for the food eaten by the people who’d been on the table before us.

Called in as we were passing really glad we did food was excellent strawberry milkshake was heavenly. If you want good food done properly this is the place for you.

Visited Sam's Diner whilst in holiday in South Cornwall

Expensive food for what you get, location isn’t appealing and the food is very heavy and greasy. Is ok for a kids birthday or lunch treat but wouldn’t make an effort to go again.

We popped in sams Friday night, and it was absolutely stunning the beast burger and dirty fries was huge and cooked perfectly the friendly and attentive staff told us how the burger was a challenge and that we could have our photo up if we completed it, unfortunately I couldn’t finish the burger but every bite was perfect the staff behind the bar had been fantastic and chatty, entertaining our slightly over energetic children which is a breath of fresh air as most places turn their nose up at children. We love it here and will be back soon and will speak highly of this place to anyone who will listen. Thank you so much sams !

We used to eat here frequently. My husband loved the burgers and I loved the "bad hunter" and the goats cheese salad.

You really need to try the pancakes royal with bacon with maple syrup they are fluffy and light with tasty bacon they are very very good

We popped in today after seeing the post on Facebook about the southern fried chicken special, which was absolutely amazing, easily the best chicken burger I’ve had! The decor is fantastic as well as the music. The waiter and waitress that was on shift had been fantastic and made us feel very welcome, and mentioned that there will be more specials coming very soon! We will definitely be back for that and will be watching for specials until we visit again!

Food was stone cold, dry and my other half’s burger was dripping in oil. The milkshake was warm and tasted like garbage. The glasses were unclean and the tables were that sticky our arms were getting stuck to the tables. The staff were quite ignorant and abrupt. I am local and will 100% not be going back. My family were supposed to be going the same day as us but in the evening, but lost our custom as our reviews were so bad.

Very very yummy , quick clean , very friendly staff , it’s just the best way to the day start with perfect for family and it’s next to par market for shopping if you like Enjoy Cornwall

Unfortunately we left feeling slightly ripped off if I’m honest. The lunch was nice, but the dishes for the chips were tatty. All of the seats were broken at the hinges in the ladies toilets, and they hadn’t even bothered to put the toilet roll in the holders. Even though they were quiet, the service was very slow. To top it off the £5.50 chocolate fudge cake was a wafer thin slice (almost hilarious how small it was) with the smallest possible blob of ice cream; definitely not worth £5.50, a real joke!

I’ve tried other dishes at sams in the past & not been impressed but their burgers really are what they do best. Huge & delicious! And the Mac n cheese fries with bacon are AMAZING!! Slightly let down by the service, not terrible just not great either, it wasn’t even busy on this visit and I just felt like the waitress didn’t really want to be there. Wouldn’t put me off visiting again though, just would’ve been 5* if it wasn’t for this.

Visited this diner last week whilst on holiday when visiting the par market ,my husband had a large breakfast and myself a bacon sandwich. The food came out quickly and was very good .We sat outside in the sun as we had our doggie with us ,we were asked by the waitress if we needed some water for him . We enjoyed our breakfast and if visiting again would most definitely make straight for this diner

We came here while on holiday mostly because of the huge serving sizes. It was very cosy and the burgers were delicious however the fries were not fresh/oily. The food was a little overpriced and the chocolate milkshake was a little liquidy too but the presentation was amazing.

Only ate here because we were hungry after visiting that waste of space market next door. Restaurant is small and not much space in between the tables. Food was ok, overpriced for what it was. Wouldn't go back.

My partner and I tried this place out a few weeks ago and thought it was amazing, we did have eyes bigger than our bellies though as we ordered too much food. But it tasted so good that we felt bad for leaving some. I highly recommend this place for something to eat. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that last week when we popped in they were full and we were told to come back in half an hour for a table and when we did we were told it would be half an hour more so we gave up as 2 tables were just sitting down and we had already been waiting.

We gave Sam's Diner a second chance. We shouldn't have bothered.

Portions are large, but if you leave food they offer boxes so you can take it home. I love onion rings and these did not disappoint, burger fab too. Helpful friendly staff, my first visit, can't wait to go again.
