Me and my Fiance had breakfast there this morning, found the restaurant clean and very well decorated and the view from the table was to die for. The staff was very welcoming, polite, and the food was perfect. My better half had the full English breakfast which was cooked perfectly and was more than enough. I on the other hand had the Balcony big breakfast thinking I'm a big boy but I honestly couldn't finish it all even though everything was again cooked perfectly and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anybody. I will be going back

Not been in here since reopened but glad we did.staff were nice and friendly. Food was really tasty,well made and good price. Cocktails were great. A must place to visit for us

A favorite place for breakfast with an amazing view of St Ives Harbour.

This place had great views but the food was underwhelming. The buttermilk chicken burger lacked flavour and came on a side plate which was annoying. The side salad was very good and a decent size but, again, was piled on a side plate so as you start to eat it was falling off. Service was slow, they lacked knowledge and they got the order wrong; I asked for half a bitter shandy but the waitress didn't know what a bitter was, tried to recommend a larger, then brought me a pint. I wouldn't go back - there are much better places to eat.

Lovely place to eat, fab views of harbour, had lunch and breakfast on 2 different days, some gluten free options available in a world that has gone Vegan crazy 🙄 would have been 5 stars all the way buy the toilets let it down, they may be described as atmospheric but for me it was just too dark. Great location would recommend.

They might have fake roaring fire screens , but we sat in our coats it was so cold !!!

Staff need to start earning their compulsory service fee ! Calamari was not great. Our dark and stormy cocktail was not what we expected. But nice views.

Popped in to have a coffee and take a break from the lovely British weather. Great coffee and atmosphere with a fantastic sea view. Lots of food options include breakfast, children's meals and vegetarian or vegan dishes. They also do a Sunday roast on Sundays.

Excellent Sunday night Fish and Chips and chicken and chips for our 2y old daughter.

Joe and the team are always friendly chatty, and very accommodating, favourite place to have a drink and take in the harbour views

My husband says the Small Fry breakfast was one of the best Full English Breakfasts he’s ever had! He’s from St Ives but we’ve lived away for a long time. We’ve come back to visit family and friends and popped to the Hub for breakfast. We came in at 11:10am and we’d missed it - but the lovely waiter Jago checked with the chef and they made us breakfast anyway. Beautiful coffees, great breakfast and fantastic service - thank you!

Called in for a drink, asked if we could sit outside. Probably a strange request at this time of year but it was a nice day.drinks brought down to us,went for a walk and decided to return and eat Couldn't fault it . lovely views out over the harbour, lovely ambiance inside.the staff very attentive and freindly. Food was spot on,4 in our party all enjoyed our choices. Would definitely return.

Service was ok, waitress was not very communicative. Ordered drinks, then had to wait twenty minutes to order food. Once food ordered, another 10 minutes before drinks came. Then the food soon after. We have been to this restaurant countless times and always been impressed. Unfortunately this time we were left feeling a little underwhelmed. Staff seemed uninterested. And bring back dirty fries with the burgers - not as a separate order at nearly £10

We had been led to believe from the website you couldn't book a table here so we just turned up on the off chance. Turns out their website was wrong and you could book. Never the less they managed to squeeze us in. I ordered the hot dog which when it arrived a was shocked to see it looked like the cheapest sausage they could have possibly found. However, it tasted absolutely amazing so don't let that put you off! We got two cocktails as they were on a 2 for £12 offer. When the bill arrived they hadn't charged us the special offer for the cocktails. That was easily rectified however.

Stumbled upon this place whilst looking for a lunchtime spot. We were so glad we did, the food was so tasty! We had the tacos (order 3 because they are too good!) and fries, which were delicious. The decor was beautiful, the staff were lovely (Elliot and Kiera were our servers and were great!). The view looking out over the bay in the sunshine was perfect. We loved our visit!!

Good place to stop for lunch with views over the water. Menu pretty limited but if you like really good burgers, it's definitely a go!

Great place to watch the sea and listen to music with a great cup of coffee or a beer. But heads up when ordering breakfast, their extras are a rip off £2.50 for 1 mushroom on the extras breakfast menu which is explained as MUSHROOMS and we were over charged for the bacon extras, all not a problem it happens but the staff just shrugged and said it is what it is. No offer of a refund or apology.

Looked at menu, decided for us. Welcomed by Richie, shown to table. We had mussels and fresh mackerel, accompanied by a very acceptable glass of Pinot Grigio. The service was great and relaxed, the food sublime with a wonderful view

Nice place & lovely views if you can grab a window seat. I found the menu to be very limited. So we had a drink and left. Two lads at bar wasn’t busy yet just ignored us while they both serve one customer.

Looking for somewhere to have lunch while visiting St Ives and noticed this restaurant. The menu looked intriguing so thought we'd give it a whirl. My wife and daughter both had the tacos, while I had the spicy beef burger with Cornish salty bacon (I'm all about being healthy 😁). My daughter and I shared a loaded fries also. We agreed the food was excellent. Really tasty and filling. Service was really quick, with no hassles. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable meal and we'd definitely come back again. Oh we can whole heartedly recommend the berry Sunday 🙂

Lovely food ambience great outlook too

Food used to be amazing but now all the yummy food is gone , loads of stuff they didn’t have . Food was bland and tasteless , soggy . Staff have no customer service skills whatsoever. £20 for a bacon cheeseburger, that’s without fries . This place has gone downhill . Such a shame . Avoid if you can

Food was good. Service wasn’t great but it was a little busy when we arrived. Our main courses were served with the starter dishes still on the table. Staff were friendly and would return again.

Nice drink taps (I got local cider). Descent fish n chips. My wife however found 3 hairs in just 1 of her 2 tacos. Extremely disgusting. They did remove it from the bill and replace it for free. We mentioned our need for a split bill at the beginning of our meal but our server completely disregarded that and made us do the actually calculations after we finished eating.

Old review from 2019 below. Rating reduced from 5 stars to 2. Unfortunately The Balcony has gone downhill, compared to previous visits. Since Covid, it has been table service only, which isn't an issue, as long as the staff are competent and trained for table service. During my last visit, which will be the last for the foreseeable future, we were greeted as usual, told to sit anywhere and someone would take our order. We arrived before lunch, so it was quite quiet. The staff were more interested in talking among each other at the bar, or clearing the odd table, than taking our drinks order. Eventually, we managed to place an order for drinks. They took several minutes to bring the drinks, but this is normal compared to previous visits. Shortly, after receiving our drinks, we placed a food order (fish tacos and a brownie). The food was good as usual, however, a drink was ordered just after the food arrived, but the order wasn't passed to the bar staff. After a laborious task of gaining the staff's attention, another member of staff checked and said it would be brought out in a couple of minutes. So far, we'd struggled to order drinks initially, been served by different staff members and then a confirmed order wasn't even passed along. When the bill came, they had the audacity to add a service charge, which added over £5 to the bill. Tipping in this country is not mandatory, although staff fully deserve tipping when they do their job well. Adding a mandatory charge to a bill, when you've been served by multiple people, inattentively, is not on. Sadly, I will not be returning, after coming for over 10 years. 2019: Great food and drinks with amazing views of the harbour. Great for sports too.

The hub used to be one of our favourite places to go for food. Sadly the menu has been changed and some tasty options such as the loaded fries have been removed, replaced by sea food options. The veggie/vegan burgers are dry and tasteless. The quality of the food seems to have gone down hill.

We come here for a great breakfast when we visit St. Ives. Sadly, we were so disappointed with the quality this time. We paid £13.95 for a big breakfast & it was quite underwhelming. The 2 poached eggs were hard, 1 thin sauce of hogs pudding, 2 quite hard pieces of bacon, and a very crispy piece of sourdough fried bread. All quite dry, but thankfully the baked beans helped with that. We look forward to this, our 1st port of call on our holidays, but I'm sorry to say we probably won't be back again. All businesses have changed in the current financial market, but it just was not worth the money. Happy to pay nearly £14 if it's worth it, but it wasn't this time. It pains me to have to say this, it really does, because we've had some cracking times in this place in the past.

We stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is nice and comfortable very much a western woody decor for the establishment. The staff were pleasant and welcoming. We had some nice cocktails and the fish tacos were very nice. The menu has a good range and the food was nice. The only difficulty for me being disabled was that the toilets are on the first floor so accessibility can be an issue. Thank you for the lunch guys

Not our first visit to The Hub but will probably be our last. Used to love the big burgers and dirty loaded fries but sadly the menu change means the burgers are mediocre and no loaded fries, they seem to have gone down the seafood route. We tried the king prawns in piri piri and garlic and to be honest they were poor just tasted of the grill. The service was excellent but stick to what you do best

Perfect steak as a main and the fish tacos to start were very good too, might have converted me to eat more fish. Cocktail also very good. Service was excellent.

Not very good food Service a bit slow

Went in for coffee and were ignored for about 20 minutes, Finally took our order then had to remind them another twenty minutes later about our order. Looked like the place is staffed by students, a lot of running about and shouting at each other but no service. Very poor.

We returned here today as we had a lovely lunch last year. We were greeted at the top of the stairs by a young man who told us to pick any table and it's table service. We ordered our drinks which came to the table. We were asked if we wanted lunch said yes gives us a few moments to read the menu. With that no one returned to our table. We sat there with our drinks waiting while all the staff were standing at the bar. As it was lunch time it started to get busy but still no one came to our table. Even other tables were being neglected.. We sat drinking our drinks and with a empty glass in hand we decided to leave. There was no leadership within the team there, it was like a lads day out. No one knew what was going on with each table. Apon paying i had been given a service charge for the drinks. Thankfully they took it off. We left unhappy. Out side we were deciding what to do. We walked further up the harbour and found the harbour. 😕 no tachos. But amazing fish and chips.

When we arrived for a lunchtime we were told to sit wherever we wanted so we sat and after a few minutes asked what drinks we would like which we ordered, we were then asked if we liked to order food or like a bit longer we asked for a bit longer. Having eaten there before we had an idea of what we wanted. We were then forgotten!! No one came near our table even after I tried to attract attention the servers were to busy chatting about this that and the other in earshot of our table. We were at this time only 1 of 5 in the bar hut as it got busier in the bar other tables were being neglected too. After we finished our initial drinks we placed the at the end of the table and tried to draw attention to a server but all I got was a nod back as if to say "hey mate" as if we knew each other. We ended up leaving without eating or any 9ther drinks. We went to the bar to pay for our drinks which they had put a surcharge on !! There was 4 servers on but no leadership on Tuesday 12th September. Not one server stood out as they were all as bad as the other more interested in what they had been up to at the weekend. Very disappointed as it is a lovely place with good food. Shame.

Loved sitting outside and watching the world go by, my shrimp tacos were gorgeous! Potato Bravas were okay, everyone else said their chicken burgers were lovely! and the coriander coleslaw is a nice touch.

We always end up here every time we are in at Ives. It’s often the only place that has a table, even when everywhere else is full. It’s hidden upstairs above the studios and people miss it. I expect this gets busier in the evening as it looks like it might turn into a bit of a nightlife spot, but during the day, ifs great with amazing views of the harbour.

One of the best cafe's in St Ives. It is sea facing and usually crowdy(especially on holidays and weekends). Its pet and kids friendly. Above all that, the food is delicious. All the items we tried came out really good but Squid loaded fries and Fish n Chips are both must try for seafood lovers. Will definitely visit again.

Good food and beer but service charge is an extra that is not an option. Excess charge that is not required. Can’t go up to the bar and not pay the service charge. Only allowed to sit and they charge you a service charge. Not very good if you’re on a budget.

Cheap and cheerful. Staff worked hard and smile with every interaction, but tatty venue with well worn garden space. Needs a freshen up.

We popped into The Balcony after going out for a meal at another local restaurant, to say the atmosphere was INCREDIBLE would be an understatement!! The live singer there last night (23.08.23) was INSANE!! one of the best live musicians I've had the pleasure of hearing!! Staff all super friendly and service was great! Will definitely be returning!!

Beers are great but they are super busy so if you go just for drinks you have to go to the bar to be told they are table service only.. But it's the only way to either get another drink or get the bill

Expensive and a service charge is added to the bill. The service was poor as there was no offer of sugar for the drinks or sauces for our meals and a smile would of been nice by some of the staff.

Living in St Ives this is one of the places I go to quite regularly with friends however my last visit was very disappointing The food took at least 45 minutes to arrive, the food was ok but the broccoli was asked to be gluten...

Whilst on holiday and visiting St Ives we popped 8n for a bite to eat. Very welcoming staff and showed us to a table immediately. We had tacos and the fries with beef brisket. The food was great and tasted fab. One staff member, although not unpleasant had clearly had a good day as she hardly said a word, but no complaints. It would have got 5 stars, but then came the bill. Not too expensive, but they added the service charge. We do not live in the USA! In England we pay our staff a good wage, if they get tips for good work that's ok. But a service charge is antiquated charge. Just charge the correct amount for the food so you can pay your staff.

The perfect location overlooking St Ives harbour. The cocktails were excellent. Shame it took 30 minutes to get served on a night when it didn’t look that busy. Despite that, I’d recommend here
