Sambucca 2 in Newcastle upon Tyne

We dined here after the Queens Baton Relay. It was very busy and loud but we were seated in a nice corner away from the rowdy stag doos. The service was unbelievable considering how busy the restaurant was. Starters came quickly, drinks were topped up regularly, and food was delicious. Huge thanks to Tammy for going above and beyond and being so helpful and friendly and fab with the kids.

All the restaurants we tried to book an evening meal at during our recent visit to Newcastle appeared to be fully booked until we came across Sambucca who were able to reserve a table for us later that evening. Despite booking we still had a few minutues to get seated and although clearly busy at what proved to be a popular restaurant the staff were welcoming and attentive. We were able to select from an extensive menu nicely served and tasty meals.

Hubby and I were staying at The Vermont Aparthotel for a couple of nights due to me having day surgery the day after arrival. We had a takeaway from here due to Lockdown, ordered over the phone and picked up. All was ready at the arranged time when hubby went to pick the food up. The price for the food was very reasonable where we were given a 15% discount for ordering over a certain amount. The prawn cocktail was delicious, crispy salad, tasty sauce and ample succulent king prawns! My spaghetti Carbonarra was mouth watering, the sauce lovely and creamy with a pot of parmesan cheese given. Hubby said his meat feast pizza was lovely and he couldn't get over how much different kinds of meat were on it, steak included! The garlic bread and chips were great also. Look forward to returning here one day if ever in Newcastle and eating in the restaurant. We can also recommend a takeaway from here during the following weeks of Lockdown.

Pizza y pastas preciosas! Visitamos aquí todo el tiempo y es muy agradable. El personal es muy atento. Visité 2 o 3 veces desde que terminó el encierro y son muy limpios y eficientes. ¡Tuve una visita encantadora esta semana y tuve el Kiev! Dios mío, fue hermoso. Normalmente tomo pizza boloñesa o carbonara, pero quedé muy impresionado con esto. No puedo esperar hasta la próxima visita.

He estado muchas veces antes y seguiremos visitando. Fuimos con un amigo solo dos de nosotros para el almuerzo del domingo y llegamos al restaurante por 12. 15 Ocupado como de costumbre, pero no podría haber tenido una mesa peor si lo intentáramos, una mesa colocada en el medio del camino a pie a la cueva. En pocas palabras, tratar de incluir tantos clientes como sea posible. Esto significaba que las personas golpeaban su silla, tanto el personal como los clientes y las personas que caminaban junto a usted mientras comían su almuerzo mientras todos nos sentamos en mi regazo. El servicio era bueno como de costumbre la próxima vez, más bien esperar una mejor mesa.

We have been to this lovely resturant overlooking the river Tyne and quay side twice in 1 week.The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced.The staff were friendly and made our night and Sat afternoon very special.Thomas the Italian guitar player was full of fun and his singing and guitar playing fab.He entertained us with past and present songs and we couldn't wait to return for more. We look forward to visiting very soon for fine wine and food and being serenaded by the lovely waitor and the excellant staff. The Vontraps xxxxxxx

staff very friendly, good food for the cheap price, fast service. perfect for a quick, cheap meal out. Not the best atmosphere for a date

Aunque no vaciará sus bolsillos, la comida de Sambucca no es nada especial. La comida era insípida y, lejos de ser auténtica, mejorada por el interior desgastado / en mal estado del restaurante. También, la comida llegó extremadamente rápido al punto que no hubo descanso entre los cursos, sin embargo, entiendo que algunas familias con niños más pequeños pueden ver esto como algo positivo. No volveré ya que conozco a muchos italianos más baratos y baratos en Newcastle.

What can i say about this place, it was my cousins 30th birthday and we came for sunday carvery, from the time we arrived the staff make this place what it is, always laughing and joking which is a credit to them. highly recommended

Group of 10 colleagues celebrating a special birthday. Service was good, not too long to wait for order being taken and food being served. I started with prawn cocktail which was alright, followed by chicken in a cream mushroom and onion sauce & chips. Again this was alright, nothing to ride home about. Price I thought was right for what was served. Colleagues black pudding dishes looked lovely.

2nd time at this venue 1st time was for my friends hen night then this time xmas night out/catch up with friends. Both times was great food & sevice & atmosphere great nights out.

I am a fan of Sambucca, for what they are you get excellent value and service. Always nice to pop out to for a little meal.

An absolute gem of a find, just stumbled on it but will definitely put in our book of favourites. Gorgeous food very well priced - they offer every tasty thing from £5.95 and upwards. Lovely service, quaint surroundings and in a stunning British village.

Eight of us visited early last night, all for the first time, prior to a gig at the amazing Consett Empire by the equally amazing Talon. However, back to the restaurant. We were booked for 5:30 and were surprised to find many tables already occupied and a good atmosphere in the room.. On being seated, slight concern that we were a bit cramped without sufficient elbow room, but that was soon forgotten when we were given the menus by friendly and efficient staff and saw the prices of the food....So reasonable! By the time the starters arrived the rest of the tables were full and the atmosphere was ramped up again. I ordered the soup which was absolutely delicious and could be eaten with my one free hand! For the main I had the Canelloni also delicious and thankfully also easy to eat with one hand. Everyone in our party was blown away by the quality of the food and the value for money. And in the end the cramped seating just added to the fun and great atmosphere. Too be truthful, it was just our table for eight that was cramped I think. We had a great night and will be there again.

Visted this restaurant with family and children and everyone enjoyed it. The tradition Sunday lunches were good value with everything you would expect. The restaurant even does a loyalty card. Other dishes are available and the young children were well catered for. Good value if on a budget.

Fui allí con mi mam y 8 años. Tuvimos el almuerzo especial de 3 platos por £5. 95. Sorprendido no es la palabras como la comida era fabulosa de tamaño completo no pequeñas raciones de patata con piel, pizza, lasaña y helado para terminar. Wow sin duda volveremos. Personal muy amable, nos ayudaron a cortar hasta pizza de mi hijo después de preguntar a él si le gustaría.

Absolutely fantastic great value 6.95 for 3 courses and child friendly will defo be back staff were amazing and very attentive was a great day out and nice little stroll along from the Tyne ferry crossing

Having visited Sambucca in Forest Hall where the service and food were disgraceful, we had second thoughts on visiting this restaurant but totally different pleasant staff, service was excellent and the food served in good time and beautiful. Thank you.

Este pequeño y encantador restaurante con el ajetreo de clientes disfrutando de sus comidas. 3 oferta de platos en £4.95 tiene una relación dada la calidad de la comida que se sirve, todos serán servidos muy simplemente. Corteza delgada estándar y una pizza calzone staggioni era caliente y delicioso después de la piel de patata y salsas de arranque. De lo contrario haga ofertas estupendas opciones preparadas desde el pescado más fresco. Restaurante popular y fácil de ver por qué ir a comer tarde o entre semana.

Most places nearby were full, so tried this place, and it turned out a better bet than the places we had targeted. 12 of us were seated in the upstairs room, and it can be tricky just rocking up and getting somewhere with that many people. There was loads of space, no stress with 6 adults and 6 kids. Staff were excellent, special hat tip to our man Silva. All the food was excellent, my Chicken Kiev certainly lacked no garlic, and we all left happy! Thanks guys!

Quayside North Shields, I've tried two out of the three that are situated there. Friendly and efficient service. Great value for money especially during happy hours which I have not really seen matched. Rustic perhaps, home made maybe, certainly cosy with a jolly atmosphere especially in the evenings. Somewhere different to take friends. My wife visited the one they have at Percy Main and enjoyed that too. They are a popular local restaurant.

Lovely restaurant down on the docks at Newcastle. One of three. However I did enjoy the atmosphere of Sambucca 1 best.

Last minute stop for Suday lunch with the bride, good parking availability, good service, good food, good quality, good value for money and overall a very good effort from the "Smbucca boys" well worth a visit!!!!

well for £3.95 for a three course meal 12- 5pm its fantastic andnever been dissapointed yet. i always have home made soup to start then the cannaloni is lovely followed by coffee or ice cream.its soup or potatoe skins and dip and any pizza or pasta for main and a great family atmosphere too .

I wish I had read the previous review before we went to Sambucca2 tonight. What a load of rubbish. Cold, empty, awful food,- but having said that the service was really good and they supplied crayons and colouring books to amuse the kids while we waited for our food. We have been to many of the Sambucca restaurants and they're always good value for money, cheap, cheerful and tasty, however this one is now an insult to the Sambucca name.we definitely will not be back.

We used to frequent this restaurant a lot and the atmosphere was vibrant. Staff were cheerful and pleasant and the food used to be plentiful and tasty. There is a new manager now and the attention to detail is now poor. The portions have massively reduced in size and were pretty tasteless. No atmosphere. Sadly this is now off our list to visit.

After trying most other sambuccas and not being impressed I decided to try this one It's a stand alone Sambucca and completely different The food is soo much better and far superior qualityThe staff were soo friendly and couldn't do enough for usThe garlic mushrooms were to die for and chicken a la creme was the best I have ever had Hubby had garlic prawns which were huge followed by chicken Kiev which I had to steal some as it was absolutely delicious Followed by lovely coffee altogether a beautiful family meal

£3.95 for a boatload of tasty potato skins and a thin base pizza followed by ice cream. All very basic but good quality and at that price it's a steal.Try it!

I have been to three different sambucca restaurants, and have not been disappointed. Great place to go lunch times and early evening..........£3.95 for 3 courses. Tasty food and friendly service.

I am assuming that the Whitley Bay, West Moor and North Shields are the same company.This being said there is a lot for the management to do regarding customer service, staff suitability and training and consistency of food provided. Fast food from a tin or frozen pizza seems to be the normNorth Shields - food awful.West Moor - haven't been but reviews are bad.Whitley Bay - Phoned to reserve a table for 10 and was asked for a £20 deposit payable in cash by the next day before a reservation could be made for 17.00 on a Friday evening.Appalling way to run business(es).

We prefer this Sambucca on North Shields Fish Quay - there are 3 of them! This one is warm,friendly and small/intimate -simply what WE want for a week night meal out!The staff and food are good! We normally have a pizza and starters which are always well cooked - promptly delivered and well presented! This week we had the 3 course special - Starters - Soup/Potato skins - Main meal was lovely Sirloin Steak and the cheesecake to follow was homemade mmm - with generous sized portions!A lovely meal and place! We recommend IT

We like Sambucca 2 because of the open view across the quay (not that we've been to all the Sambucca's yet!). Lots of atmosphere at the fish quay and Sambucca is very much a part of this. Went at lunch time after our regular trip to the quay to buy fresh fish. Special choice very limited 3 courses but at the price it's great value. Lunchtime pizza size but just right for time of day, reasonable stagioni topping not over generous but fine. Friendly staff, unhurried even though as ever at weekend very busy. Not a stylish place but has a charm of it's own.

In the summer, I took the boys across the ferry and for a nose in that car boot stile place across the water and a walk along the coast.We could have eaten at the many fish and chip places. However, we ate at Sambucca 2. It's small and kind of dark but really a nice place. The service was lovely.My boys again, like to make out that all they get at home is junk by ordering chicken nuggets, but they looked really lovely and fresh made with chicken breast. A side salad came with them and some peas, which was really nice.I love pasta marinara and I can't rave about this enough, it had octopus, squid, mussels and tuna in a rich tomato sauce, I could have eaten it forever and was stuffed at the end. They had juice, I had wine and it came to around 12 pounds. I just can't find a complaint at all. We weren't rushed, the staff were brilliant with my boys and I left feeling very well treated and with good recommendations.

Absolutely appaling food, pasta with tinned tomatoes and microwave type pizza! Waited an absolute age for the food (probably 40 minutes), even though all we ordered was pizza and pasta dishes. The drinks didn't help either, all obviously cheap tinned pop and lager - couldn't wait to leave, would have been better off with fish and chips out of the paper! I really don't know how this restaurant has not been closed down - needless to say, we will never go back!

We went during the week and had a lovely lunch, the waitress was helpful and chatty and attentive. We had the lunch menu three meals for 3.95, the portions were a good size, hot and very tasty. i could not all of mine. Nice relaxed atmosphere didnt feel rushed at all and had a lovely girls lunch and gossip. Will definetly go here again.

We eat regular at Sambucca's... Thought we'd try Sambucca 2 for lunch. Mistake.. tiny tinned mushrooms for starter (Garlic) Both had sirloin steak.. more sinue than steak. Really disapointed, this restaurant used to be so good. Complained to waiter, just shrugged his shoulders, obviously not interested in customer satisfaction. Not a patch on Whitley Bay.... maybe they could learn a lot from there...Wont go back to Sambucca 2.

Admittedly this visit was an early evening one but the atmosphere and environment was dead yet with music blaring. Our meals were, i'm sorry to say, the worst meals we have ever had and we eat out a lot. Deep fried brie was rubbery, pizza was still uncooked in the middle and my pasta was just 'dead'. I will definitely be giving the three of these restaurants along the fish quay a very wide berth as they all have the same menue - albeit not the same chef. Very disappointing I'm affraid. I know you might not be paying a lot but still...
