Second try of Goucho Newcastle and I have to say I am underwhelmed by the experience. Friendly staff but very slow service. At this price point you do expect more. It was annoying to have 12.5% gratuity automatically added to the bill. The restaurant seemed understaffed, it took ages just to place an order, food took too long to arrive, we ran out of time and had to rush the end of our meal. Probably won’t be bothering again - there are better places all around the City Centre. One of our group is vegan and there were also very limited meat-free alternatives.

Went there yesterday night for my birthday dinner and the service and food was 10/10. I’m not sure the name of the server who looked after us but he was amazing and accommodated us so well. Thanks so much!

We had a set menu for two and this was our first time visiting. Level of service was excellent from start to finish - special thanks to Angela for being so friendly and accommodating. Nice ambience inside the restaurant too - asked for a quieter table which we got. Food was good but perhaps not quite to the level expected for the price. Meat itself was ok but not the leanest cut (but perhaps we ordered the wrong dish). We had wine and cocktails - cocktails in particular were delicious and a highlight. Overall, we had a nice experience and I would recommend.

Hard to put into words just how tasteful and professional this steak and service was. I’ve gone twice and never been disappointed. You can tell that every piece of food is properly curated with a perfect taste and texture. A lot of restaurants just throw food together but here it is like an art form.

My girlfriend and I had a meal to celebrate our anniversary, and all of the staff made it such an incredible experience. Service was fast and felt personalised, and both the waiter and bartender were very friendly. Drinks were well-made, and for a steakhouse the vegan and vegetarian options were tasty, albeit scarce. We had a lovely evening :)

Been in today with my daughter for lunch place is spotless service was great and the food tremendous top marks from me will definitely be back we used a code online and got a free meal for two but looking at the same menu if we had to pay was still very reasonably priced

We visited Gaucho for the first time during NE1 Restaurant Week to celebrate an anniversary, and it was a fantastic experience. The three-course menu was great value at £25 per person (+ discretionary service charge 12.5%). We started with a burrata and an empanada. Both were lovely. For the mains, the sirloin steak was cooked to medium as we’d asked, with a nice char and served with proper chips. The rump steak was a bit leaner and ended up more medium than medium rare, but it was still juicy and full of flavour. For dessert, we tried both the cheesecake and the brownie. They were delicious and beautifully presented with thoughtful touches like sour cherries and ice cream. But I’d have preferred something lighter after such a rich main. Maybe a shortcake or something with a citrus twist. The food was excellent overall. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in the city. A big shoutout to our server, Angela. From taking our coats to helping with the order and even surprising us with two glasses of bubbly for our anniversary, she went above and beyond. She also checked in after every course, which made us feel really looked after, even though the restaurant was quite busy. All in all, it was a brilliant meal and a lovely celebration. 5/5

We had the restaurant week menu. It was great value for price. The starters, steaks and the basque cheesecake were fantastic. We also had the chimichurri margarita which was wonderful. Our waiter, Angela (or Angelica?) was really attentive and lovely. The only teeny tiny negative I could mention is the choice of roast veg was a bit strange. It consisted of roast bits of carrot and squash. A bit odd pairing with steak. Other than that, wonderful meal. Will definitely come back.

Absolutely incredible and probably the best dining experience i’ve had as an ordinary guy in a long long time. i took my partner here and we had some delicious rump steak, we had sides and sauce and expected a huge bill due to the restaurants incredible service and atmosphere but the bill including a tip was £55, which was some of the best value for money i’ve ever seen. i’d very highly recommend it, the waiters were incredibly kind, offering us to have our coats hung up and personalising our dining experience to best fit our needs, as-well as an incredible band playing and a wonderful, once again, atmosphere. we still talk about how good it was now. couldn’t recommend it more. was absolutely amazing 👍

The restaurant is awesome: They have an amazing Brown Shrimp Appetiser, and the main course is Rib Eye or Fillet Steak, they are amazing.

We decided to pop in for a birthday lunch for my husband. Never been, walked around and saw the place and was impressed with the decor from the outset. We have definitely made the right decision. Service was extremely attentive. I cut out dairy due to breastfeeding my baby, they modified the prawn starter for me - it was delicious. I had the steak and husband had wagyu burger - both were very tasty! SO much better than miller and carter. We were ready to leave when they realised it was my husband's birthday and they brought out a piece of cheesecake for free! Would definitely come back again.

Excellent steakhouse in the center of Newcastle, we choose it for New Year's Eve dinner and it was a magnificent choice. Excellent meat, friendly and attentive staff, perfect for an intimate dinner. It's not cheap, far from it (we spend £80 each) but the price is worth the excellent dishes

Fantastic dinner, Angela was our waiter for the night her service is spectacular so warm and welcoming. Gaucho Newcastle offers a recently updated and comfortable setting, though the tables felt a bit cramped. While the food was good, the prices were not reflective of the quality and should be adjusted to better match the produce. Staff were pleasant but lacked sufficient knowledge about the menu and drinks for a high-end restaurant. However, they did accommodate a request to view the fresh meat selection before cooking. They provided complimentary drinks for our anniversary, which was a thoughtful touch—thank you.

our waitress kamilla was lovely and made the evening so special. the atmosphere was amazing and the attentive service (offering wine menu and recommendations, dessert menu, seeing the steaks) were such great touches that set this apart from other steakhouses. it’s pricey but for a special occasion it’s worth it, we had an amazing time and will be back! thank you so much.

This is a place you would expect a bit of courtesy, arrived had drinks at bar, lovely bar man , seated 3 courses in 40 minutes as soon as you had finished one course the next course appeared. I can honestly say there was no more than 5 minutes between our main course and desert. We have been to numerous restaurants of this quality I would not recommend unless you want fast food , there is a kebab shop direct across from restaurant where I would expect fast food not Gaucho! Also sat very close to the entrance with a draft even though there was plenty of seating available around other areas of the restaurant. Finally we didn’t want to listen to the team meeting that was happening shortly before 5pm when a large group of customers arrived.

The 3 course meal we had here was amazing, especially Angela who served us and ensured that I was looked after being plant based. Such an amazing experience felt like I was visiting family. Will definitely return here at earliest convenience, highly recommend 👌🏾✨

Incredible. Probably the best food and service I've had in Newcastle for a good few years. I'm hoping the service wasn't just this good because we were a large table for a work meal and drinks, but it looked like others were getting the same around us. Next level service, attentive staff, some of the table had what looked like brilliant cocktails, and the food (salmon, steak and brownie) were 10/10. Clearly the place is managed properly, and service is their number one focus, can't wait to go back!

I’ll start with WOW! Easily the best steak I’ve ever eaten out in the UK. Blows other steak house restaurants around Newcastle out of the water. We recently spent some time in Argentina and the food is very authentic. Service was impeccable too. Special mentions to Angela who went above and beyond for us. Can not wait to come back and will be raving and recommending to everyone I know. A real great spot.

Evening of 22nd November. Party of 7 for an early Christmas night out. We couldn’t fault the food, however delays in between food courses was very very very slow. No fault of the server…chef issues we believe. The no star is for the delays, not the actual server. We also had to ask someone constantly for drinks which also took a while. Again not great service. Like I said we couldn’t fault the food, the kitchen issues however need urgent attention. Our booking was at 8:30, we paid our bill at 10:45…. It shouldn’t take over 2 hours to eat a three course meal

Had a fantastic meal on the limited edition legacy menu. Very professional, approachable and friendly service from Angela. We. I visited on a Monday meaning an overall quieter, although still pleasant atmosphere. We we're given a complimentary glass of house fizz as we were celebrating which was a lovely touch. Would go back here again.

Had a fantastic lunch with friends, Angela hosted us from the minute we arrived and made us feel at home. Angela took time to take us through the specials and her own recommendations, which we took and were extremely happy. We finished with a banana pecan old fashioned which really made our day. Wonderful steakhouse with impeccable service. Really enjoyed the 'Date Night Steak Night' offer (available on Wednesdays) and thought that this was good value for money. Where to start, we have been to gaucho before and my exact statement on the food last time was “the best steak I’ve ever had” well last night was the complete opposite, to start we were sat down next to a table of around 8 women who were so loud I could barely even speak to my partner, then the service although waiter was nice and friendly it took ages just to get attended to, the starters came out and was to be honest quite pleased with them, but I was so looking forward to the mains we ordered a chorizo steak and a large fillet steak also as we usually share them, we asked for them to both be medium rare. The Mrs chorizo steak was about 30% of inedible fat and tasted of nothing, the fillet steak arrived and looked incredible, I cut into it and it looked way underdone but being fillet I thought would still taste amazing. I was wrong it felt like I was eating flesh and it was stone cold in the centre, and the Malbec and bone marrow sauce was so watery and tasted of nothing, this restaurant went from one of our favs to one of the worst overnight. What happened? We decided after that not to bother with dessert and left hungry we also paid £148 for our bill and when leaving was called by the waited who apologised and said I give u the wrong bill here is yours, it was only £4 cheaper but was told it almost the same so “its all good” bearing in mind already paid a £19 service charge. Very poor won’t be back

My partner and I went to Gaucho for an important birthday and everything was what we had hoped for and more. Our server, Apostolos was wonderful. He provided us with great recommendations and shared his detailed knowledge about the food and wine available. The sirloin and ribeye steaks that we had were cooked to perfection, excellent flavour. We also got a complimentary birthday dessert and drinks to celebrate. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. A big thank you to Apostolos for making our experience special.
