First time we have ever eaten a meal with our coats on...freezing ....food was bland, staff lovely, waiting 45 mins for starter....lady sitting at the bar area glared at our table throughout the meal...walking across and staring at us ...thanks ...£170 wasted....

Staff in general were very friendly and accommodating. However service re our meal was lacking. Mussels were over cooked and dry, bread was rock hard, garlic mushrooms did not live upto reviews slightly. Pizza base for calzone was too thick hard and tasteless. The chicken dish was ok but we were on the last few mouthfuls when the fries arrived. The setting was lovely, but standard of the food tasted with overall service for cost was very poor.

A very nice evening meal with family. Although we did not stay there we did have a very nice evening with great service and very tasty Italian food.

Me and my fiance absolutely love this place. Service is fantastic, food is beautiful the bar and restaurant are so rustic and beautiful. The staff are all pleasant, helpful and so friendly. Friendly staff with spacious room and ample bathroom. Restaurant has an incredible number of options and the veggie sizzler with haloumi was incredibly tasty and value priced. Also enjoyed the house wine.

honestly i attended michaelangelos 2 weeks ago and honestly the staff was amazing this man fabio had an amazing conversation with my son who happens to be autistic, he made him feel included and with my daughter he was talking to her about newcastle as it was a match day, also the locations nice the area itself is lovely with a great atmosphere no complaints whatsoever

We have not been for years and chose today to call by for lunch. But in years and including a visit from the Hotel Inspector they have learnt nothing. Curt bordering on rude staff, made to feel uncomfortable. Tables and chairs being moved around whilst you are eating, setting up and clearing of tables ongoing, why set them at all ? Plastic also then found in the food. We dealt with this subtly whilst in the restaurant and were told to ring back during the week. Asked for a topping on a pizza to be omitted but told this could not happen so we could just pick it off! Not Good.

Came for a wedding. Stayed in the hotel. Room was clean and tidy. Food was very good and the staff were great, highly recommended.

I attended a wedding here a few weeks back and I'd say by far one of the best weddings I have ever attended. The place was beautiful and clean. The food was fantastic and absolutely nothing was a chore for anybody.

Staying for two nights. Clean and comfortable rooms. Lots of pillows! Had starter of Bruschetta which was delicious and the Veg Al Forno - large portions and very full. Always good music playing and very friendly staff. Waited longer than normal but worth the wait. Whole place dog friendly but not a single outside bin to put any waste in (when dog friendly this is an issue!)

The food here was good when I visited. Unlike the time before where the pizza was burnt. Despite this, the atmosphere there is very awkward and unwelcoming. Upon arrival we were greeted by the older waitress who had a disgusting tone and attitude as if we were intruding. When she took our order, the sandwiches were not on (this should have been stated on the clear as mud menu). We then said an alternative dish to try which was met with an abrupt and unnecessary response, which created a negative atmosphere. The food arrived and was fairly decent. We then tried to order a dessert and found that only certain things were available, which was fine. So we ordered this, only for staff to return with ‘Actually we only have enough for one person’ again not great but let’s order. Staff returned ‘Oh there is enough for everyone now’. The staff need to learn how to communicate with each other and customers. One of us ordered a coffee, which never arrived and was on the bill at the end. Eventually it was removed but staff need to learn some manners in this place. If not, people will not return to this establishment. P.S (Old waitress, if you’re reading this…crack a smile love… it might never happen)

Happy 25th Anniversary to Michelangelo’s. Paulo, Giaccomo and their team are amazing, Amanda, Sam, Fabio, Georgia, Gillian, Charlie, Will, Lyndsey, Debbie and all of the staff are incredible. Their service, attention to detail and customer service is totally awesome. If you’re staying for business , planning. a wedding, on a family night out or an intimate date they will not disappoint. Alex Polizzi from Channel 5 should be very proud of them. We look forward to celebrating your anniversary and wish you many more years of fantastic food and service.

So, annoyingly I was going to write an unreal review. However towards the end changed my Mind. Everything was unreal, the food, the service (from a young girl I didn’t get her name) but that’s about it. There was 2 of us, we were buying glasses of wine and got told we could just change it for the bottle. The bill came and they charged us for 3 large glasses and a bottle, we would have been on the floor and paralytic. I said this isn’t right to which I got confronted about, (that’s not my problem take it up with the person who was serving not your customers). Then they had the audacity to ask for the rest of bottle back (a young lad) So they took 3 glasses of wine of the bill, charged us for a bottle then took the rest of the bottle back. Absolutely baffled. I was so ready to leave a decent tip. Miss communication or not, that’s not our problem and I’m pretty sure once you give someone something food related or an opened bottle of wine you shouldn’t take it back due to the safety/ hygiene of other customers. I’ll rate the food, don’t get me wrong, but don’t ever try and confront your customers the way you did tonight. Who ever has the rest of that bottle, I hope you don’t mind it being sat open on someone else’s table :/

Breakfast is attractive and delicious

Paolo and Giacomo are great hosts and their staff Gillian, Sam and Georgia are welcoming, genuinely happy friendly people who made our a pleasure.

Very nice place to stop by. Little out of the way but close to Roman ruins, Hadrian's wall. Golf courses close. Walking and trekking close by.

Restaurant review as weren’t staying Table booked for 6.30 arrived on time got seated next to the passage to toilet door so everyone could bang the back of my seat ! After 20 mins I managed to get some drinks Approximately 7.30 finally managed to get someone to take our food order Starter came about 7.50pm was 2 bruschetta ( soaked in oil) vine tomatoes a bit feta and the bottle of balsamic vinegar introduced to the plate their (was three drops ) Mains were Turkish kebab I think they confuse chargrilled with burnt ! I ate half of the plate that was enough everything was over cooked and tasteless My wife’s spaghetti bolognaise was cold and tasteless Now the best bit ! The bill was asked for and pretty much chucked on the table with two little sweets it was 70 odd pound I’d normally leave 10-15 tip if I was at a decent restaurant for once I said to my wife I want my exact change So I put £75 down and one of the waitress took it and I’m still waiting for the change !! That’s as shocking as it gets in my mind I think this is the first time ever I’ve reviewed anywhere I think they need Alex polizzi and Gordon Ramsey back next time to sort this shambles out

There was a dead fish in filthy rotten fish tank that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. disgusting

This is our go to place for a Sunday Lunch. The choice of traditional dinner or something extra special, great value for money. I have to say, Fabio puts together some fantastic desserts too!

I've never once had a bad meal here. The Sunday roasts in particular are unreal

Arrived at 6.30 pm. Directed to table and given menus. Within minutes asked to order drinks, so far fine. Wine arrived plus water but only 1 glass. Second glass requested but never arrived despite repeated requests. Beers arrived 5” after wine! Ordering from the menu took ages as no waiter seemed able to take it! As restaurant half full, didn’t see why the delay happened as there were at least 3 waiting staff around. A table which had been seated before us was served well before us! Food came, Spainish Fish Stew looked large but bulked out by bread. Italian Pasta dish looked good. The 2 Mixed Grills were a disappointment. Lamb chops overcooked, pork very fatty, sausage good, roast potatoes not really roasted but seemed to have been prepped in oil, put in the oven but definitely not got a crispy edge to them. As it was a special family event and we needed to be in our hotel for an early start on Saturday morning, we decided against fussing. 2 meals out of the four were acceptable but the grills were under par. Probably won’t visit again unless invited to another local family event!

Had a fantastic night with my partner at the recent ABBA night. Delicious Beetroot Wellington and great range of cocktails. The waiting staff were so involved in the event and made us feel extremely welcome. We especially loved our waitress Georgia, who was a joyous bundle of fun the whole night. We look forward to going to more events after such a lovely date night!

Had to leave early as it was impossible to hear anybody because of the loud music. Awful.

Booked this Venue for my Daughter's Baby Shower and I have to say what an amazing day we had. We were given the garden terrace room to use and it was spectacular. Perfect in every way. A room decor company was recommended to us and they did a lovely job. Guests described it as tasteful and elegant We dined on delicious pizzas which were set out on a large table buffet style. We added our own decor to match the rustic charm - all in all Perfect.

Lovely food. But the day we went saturday 11th the weather was Hot and they were very busy. Took 20 mins for a drink. Not on.

The breakfast was extremely expensive (£13.95 each)for what was on offer. We had a long wait for the cooked breakfast which stated toast was included. We expected this to be on the plate or in a toast rack but we had to do it ourselves meaning our meal was cold by the time we sat down to eat it. Very disappointing meal for the money.

Amazing......can't recommend the food highly enough, we went here for My Mother and Father in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and they catered for a table of 18 without ANY issues at all....3 courses of perfect and 5* service 👌

This is our 2nd time staying here and I eould highly recommend it. The staff can't do enough for you. We had 2 of our young granddaughters with us who are fussy eaters (Like most children!) and they very kindly accommodated them at breakfast for which we were very grateful. On the subject of breakfast, there was so much variety and everything tasted delicious! I've given 5 stars for the rooms which is well deserved but it would be unfair not to mention that the mattresses were not the most comfortable. However it would not stop us staying there again Thanks to everyone there for making our stay a very good one!

Terrible meal, ordered the chorizo pasta. No chorizo in it, very tasteless. This place has tried too hard to be something it is not, too many options and overpriced. Try Branzinos down the hill!

We booked here as we was visiting Beamish. The place was beautiful clean and welcoming. The staff were lovely friendly and very welcoming too, they were happy to help us with anything required. If you need a place to stay up North this is most definitely the place to stay. We will definitely be back.

Very good value rooms for visit to Gateshead or Newcastle, food very good and loads of it.

Nice little restaurant with accommodation in Blaydon 10 minute drive from MetroCentre. Dog friendly hotel. Lovely warm welcome at reception, the accommodation was secure and comfortable in an adjoining building. The bar was very welcoming and William attentive with all of the customers. Only disappointment was breakfast, while the server Georgia was very helpful and was keeping the tables ticking over, the kitchen unfortunately was slow in service. While I appreciate that they are cooking to order it was over 25 minutes from order to service. The food was hot and it was of a decent standard. I am not going to knock many points off as the overall experience was good. The accommodation and service were definitely scoring 5. If only the chefs could have got the breakfast out. I would visit again to try the restaurant when back in the area.

Had not been to Michelangelo,s for a long time our meal was very good we all really enjoyed our time and meals and the really friendly staff would recommend this restaurant.

Went for a really nice meal deal,. I was very very impressed with my starter Minestrone soup, It was a meal in itself, i asked for a pizza done the way i like them & it was no issue,. Food arrive piping hot and service was excellent although the visit,. Were definitely going back again. Easy 10-10 Delicious 😋

Visited the restaurant with family and enjoyed a lovely lunch. The early bird menu is brilliant for the price and they certainly did not skimp on flavour or quality of ingredients. My husband said the minestrone soup was outstanding. Nothing too much trouble for the waitress and every course came out without delay. Car park is spacious, toilets clean. We went on a quiet Tuesday lunchtime but will definitely try an evening next time when there may be a bit more atmosphere.

OMG....the Tomohawk steak! Think this might be the best steak I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. Shared it with my sister - the noises we were making would rival the scene from 'When Harry met Sally" 😄 We were there with Mum and Aunt too. Their meals were equally as excellent.....and huge portions. Aunt has quite severe food allergies and staff couldn't be more helpful with food options. We will definitely be returning here next year when we come back for our Xmas Shopping trip. £120 for dinner for 4 including drinks was excellent value for money.

My best friend had their wedding night celebrations here and a good chunk of the party booked a room for the night too. The staff are very warm and helpful. The food was great across the board. The surrounding area provided some lovely hangover walks. Highly recommended!

One word.... Fantastic....eating wise.... from breakfast to our evening meal was 10/10. Next and deservedly so,. The staff, Everyone was so attentive, for us this really was impressive and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed 2 nights and could have stayed longer.

Went for Sunday Lunch and wow it was fantastic at £20.95 for 3 courses it’s fantastic value for money. We had Prawn Cocktail to start, the Prawns were large & juicy and it was beautifully presented. We had Sunday Lunch however the full menu is available, again beautifully presented with an excellent choice of meat, great range of vegetables and huge Yorkshire pudding with delicious gravy it’s an absolute winner, supposing you still have room the portions are generous, the dessert choice is wonderful I loved the spoon & fork pattern in icing sugar on the plate.It was very busy and some large parties, but the place runs really smoothly and we didn’t wait long to be served & food was delivered quickly, all the staff are very friendly and it has a great atmosphere, clearly everyone was enjoying themselves. We will definitely go again.

10 of us ate here for my daughter’s 13th birthday. We ate from the early bird special menu which was excellent value (£9.99 for three courses) and everyone really enjoyed the food. The service was impeccable, could not have asked for more, attentive when needed but never intrusive. Food arrived promptly but we never felt rushed at all. Staff were happy and friendly. The restaurant was busy especially considering it was a Tuesday and the atmosphere was lovely. They made a big fuss of my daughter and sang happy birthday. We all really enjoyed our evening and will definitely return.

Stayed here from the first time and a tremendous experience, rebooked for next year. Food was delicious, fully catered for gluten free diets & was tremendous value money including the early bird. The rooms were very nice and despite a wedding party in full swing heard no noise from our rooms. The staff were excellent fully catering for our needs & being very thoughtful, caring & considerate. Look forward to visiting this little gem once again.

Really did not enjoy the meal today. First time having a Sunday lunch here and the gravy was like water and tasteless and the veg was hard and tasteless. Really not a nice dinner.

This was our first and last visit! Ordered 1 Turkish mixed grill and 1 lebanese mixed grill cost £40 What meat there was chewy lamb and overcooked chicken cold rice on a supposed flat bread which was really a naan bread and a tsp of tzaziki the rest was dry salad whole meal was dry and chewy not worth the money complained to waitress and said we won't be back save your money better places to eat in ryton .

We were staying here as we were showing at Newcastle racecourse. We booked a meal for the Friday night and found the staff to be both very friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our choices from the menu. I had the Portugese seafood cataplana and my partner had the whole seabass. Starters were great too and extra bread was available if requested. We enjoyed it so much we decided to eat here on the Saturday night too seen aswe were staying in one of the available rooms

Okay, it’s not the Ritz. However, the staff were brilliant both friendly and efficient. The food was okay and rooms reasonable but requiring a little upgrading. We were 4 guys on a golfing trip; all that’s needed is food, drink, bed and a good shower. All of us enjoyed the stay, thanks!

Stopped over here again tonight. Owners and staff are superb. Room is large, clean and comfortable with all you need for a great stay. Had meal and couldn't decide between seafood pizza and seafood pasta so they suggested half and half. What a feast especially for me as I am not a big eater. Highly recommend this establishment for food and accommodation. First class service. Looking forward to breakfast. Brilliant 10 out of 10. Thanks Alan

Lovely restaurant ran by two brothers. I've been coming here with my family for ad long ad I can remember and saw it change to the beautiful place it is now. Lovely food and environment! Excellent happy hour menu that is on all week :)

The worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant, totally ignored by staff, sadly we were not the only table not being served, one couple actually got up and left, wish I had, as the food was not very exciting either.

I have passed this restaurant a number of times but never called in, we were invited to friends birthday celebrations for which they had booked part of this beautiful restaurant, we will definitely be returning the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, we did not sample the food from the menu but our friends who are very discerning eat there regularly and give it high praise.

lovely setting and beautiful food the only problem was the faces off the staff. they seemed miserable ,unpleasent and sick. saw occasions where eye rolling was apparent. when cleaning's tables we saw that it would often be pushed onto the floor and not picked up...

This was our third stay and, as expected, it was great. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The people who looked after us were lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and they really looked after us well. Can't wait for our next visit.
