Came on a Tuesday night, staff were great and the food delicious and very reasonable for the price, will definitely be back again soon

Very embarrassing for an Italian restaurant, this shouldn't be even called Italian restaurant. Polo creme was a joke by the chef . It should be a nice chicken breast and instead I was given a chicken leg , I have told the owner that it should be a chicken breast and he laughed in my face like i don't know what I'm talking about . I'm 15 years Italian chef my friend . We ordered pizza , lasagne, potato skins , chips . Potato skins were covered in oil , very oily , chips tou get better in a takeaway. That polo creme costed £15 and I only cut small peaces of meat three times and that was it , it was a leg , half of it . That's why it took 40 minutes because chef probably run out of breasts. Lasagne tasted not home made and defrosted and reheated , no taste . You get better pizza in takeaways. This restaurant is an embarrassment to Italian kitchen . Your chef is taking a #### Service was ok , female waiters smiling, male waiters miserable face , not a single smile . After 15 years as a chef and head chef , I go around Italian restaurants around Newcastle and I review them. So far Vincenzo near Chillingham road is number one . Perfect home made , Italian food that done with love and passion by one chef . I don't want to offend you , this is my honest review. Do better ! Get a new chef , I wouldn't dare to serve food like that to my customers . First time and sorry but last time . I had to laugh when my food was split in to two 😭 I got my tiny meat, chips came 5 mins later 😅. I think zero star should be an option . Even atmosphere was bad , customers were complaining and he laughed in their faces , other customer behind us were nice people and you treated them with disrespect saying that table was a nightmare, they heard you , everyone did .

This is the fourth time we have been here, no italian restaurant for me in Newcastle can match it , the food, staff all tremendous

Visited on a very hot mid week lunchtime. Sat outside and had lunch special. Very friendly staff and food good value.

Visited today for the lunch special. sambucca never disappoints value for money simple Italian food and pleasant staff. Even better in a sunny day sitting on the terrace.

Food was average. Service is really good. This restaurant is located in a park so in summer it will be an ideal place for a lunch. I would prefer seating outside rather than inside as inside it is really small.

Went there yesterday after a walk in the park with the kids. We all had pizza, which was delicious. The pizza size on the kids' menu is really good , and the waiter was a nice guy and very patient. Will go back again !

Had fantastic lunches served by warm friendly people. The Garlic bread spot on not soaked in oil as others often do, side salad varied and clean and tasty, the Pollo Pasta and Pollo Napoli all top notch and the best Italian food we have had in decades around Newcastle. My daughters boyfriends mam arranged their baby shower here for close family and friends and not only was it in a beautiful location the staff couldn’t do enough to make it a memorable day. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced, as were the drinks. Would recommend to all.

After a bit of a bumpy start when we asked for some extra room at the table, the food itself was lovely. In an age where chefs are often professional reheaters- the veg was fresh, the chicken was proper chicken and the desserts homemade. Good value for the money.

I have been coming here for years and the food used to be beautiful but recently certain foods are disgusting. The pizza tastes like a frozen one you would expect at a supermarket. The potato skins aren’t cooked enough and the steak I have recently just had was absolutely disgusting! First they gave the wrong one as it was over cooked, there was a huge fuss about making me a new medium rare steak. When they handed me the new steak it was cold in the middle! So asked for it to be cooked again and by this point, well the staff were pissed off which I do understand but if you are paying £35 for a steak you expect it to be of satisfactory standards. I could also hear someone in the kitchen shouting which sounded very angry, it is not professional when you have a restaurant full of people!!! Also not sure how long the youngish lad who’s slim with curly hair has been there, he usually brings the Parmesan and black pepper over to you but he snatched the boxes of food out my hand on the way out to place them in a carrier bag, even the girl who worked there ( who is lovely ) said ‘you need to tell her what you are doing’ and apologised to me and said he is putting them in a bag for you. He went outside whilst I paid then as soon as I walked out he barged past me back into the restaurant instead of saying good bye or thank you like standard restaurant service. I will not be coming back here again it has went right down hill.

I ate here on an evening, it was quite quiet but the staff were very attentive and provided a good service. I ate a chicken salad and chips. It is easy to park next to the restaurant for free in the park.

This place never, ever let's us down, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere is lovely, BUT, the food is absolutely to die for, second to none, even something simple like garlic mushrooms, none of this drizzling with a bit garlic oil, they were all prepared using fresh garlic, the steak done EXACTLY the way you like it, 10/10 every time

My partner and I like it here. No complaints apart from the toilets are freezing, I'm sure the outside door doesn't need to be left open all the time.

It's just such a gorgeous area, it tends to be a little quiet because it's off the main road, and late at night it's really hard to find your way there from the road or car park, for low vision like me impossible to see at all. Keep this in mind if you're visiting for a late dinner because there's no street lamps in the park. Absolutely gorgeous spot to sit out in summer, staff are friendly and the food is lovely. Definitely the best Sambucas I've visited so far.

Met my daughter for lunch. Having never been to this restaurant before I didn’t know what to expect. On arrival seated near the doors, thankfully it was a lovely afternoon so wasn’t to cold in the restaurant. I ordered the mussels as a main, my daughter had the lasagne. We shared a garlic bread. I enjoyed the mussels very tasty. Not so keen on the garlic bread, to much garlic, but overall we enjoyed our food. I would say the restaurant isn’t very big, the tables are very close together so not great if you want a quiet meal. Saying that the staff were very friendly and efficient. Location is beautiful too.

I've been to other Sambucas, but this was the first visit here, and we were not disappointed. Very friendly staff in a lovely, small but adequate restaurant. The food was delicious, I had the spicy beef risotto, which was just perfect. My son had the chicken risotto, his partner had a chicken pasta dish, both of which were also perfect. All in all, it was a lovely meal, we will definitely go back.

Me and my boyfriend came in and the waiter was smoking in front of the restaurant, greet us with a sentence: ,,What are you up to?" When we said we'd like to have a bottle of wine, he said that it's not possible, only if we order food for each of us. We used to like to go there even for food and as far as I remember, bottle of wine was around £20 and we got rejected for not wanting to spend more. Definitely not coming back again.

Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful meal. We were a family of eight and everyone expressed how much they had enjoyed their meals. The staff were excellent, we laughed from going in to coming out, all of our party want to go back, so we will be returning without a doubt. Ordered 3 Sunday lunches today, all of which were inedible, roast beef and lamb all tough as old boots. Even asked the manager for a steak knife so my son could try and tackle his. Manager did not enquire if the food was ok. We left our plates and waited to catch a member of staffs eye, when we eventually did I explained the problem and asked for my complaint to the manager. To cut a long story short he was absolutely disgusting, shouting and swearing at us across a terrace full of other diners. I have never known such rude and despicable customer service in my life! Avoid!

Terrible customer service, Beef and Lamb was uneatable from the Sunday dinner. Tried to ask for a refund, when the bill came nothing had been taken off. Manager swore at me and my family never coming back here again.

Chairs were children outside on patio, plastic and uncomfortable this rectifyed when staff were notified by myself and friend having lunch, a very delightfull place, have been here several times and always a nice place and polite staff. A littled baffled when requesting Garlic Bread (not in the Peter Kaye way) The waitress said there may be await for this as kitchen is busy well restaurants are but a basic staple does not demand culinary genius. But whole enjoyable experience and nice park to walk off lunch

The owner is the most arrogant, rude human I’ve ever came into contact with in a restaurant. He speaks to the customers as aggressively and awfully as her speaks to his staff. Avoid.

THE WORST!!!! The manager that was working there was very unprofessional and very racist didn’t give us professional service my pasta marinara was horrible he gave the music high to annoys all of us at the table while eating he was very rude!!! Don’t recommend at all!!!

This is may not be a bougie Michelin star restaurant but it's definitely up there for a few reasons! ..the food is true perfection real authentic Italian hearty food at its best with staff & service of the highest level! The venue is sweet set overlooking the park & is perfect for meeting up for lunch with kids and pups! It's a great shout for families and we've never left feeling like is was nothing less than a great meal & super service 👏👏

Not a good place to get food I went in with my girlfriend on the 19/07/2023 Wanted to order the 3 course special deal with a few drinks, The manager asked for Identification for us both which was provided they proceeded to say it was "Fake" to which I provided a Military Identification card along with a Driving licence to be publicly humiliated Infront of a busy restaurant I do not recommend this place for food as unwelcoming and treat there customers badly. The way they treat military personnel is disgusting and I wouldn't recommend this for anyone with kids as they are extremely disrespectful and rude.

I had a wonderful 3-course meal here on Saturday, they were busy but they accommodated my right away. The food was lovely and servered on good time, which was impressive due to the number of customers they were dealing with. I'd highly recommend this place and I will be back.

Decent food & drinks fairly priced

Both me and my daughter have been food poisoned from here my daughter only 22months old, the way the food was presented was horrific, it was as if they just didn't like us there. I'm dealing with repercussions of not listening to my gut when I had a taste of my risotto, the meat did not taste right and eating at this place. That's it you've made your point I'm never going there again.

Great food and service at a great cost

Showed up on the Bank Holiday Monday to a rather rude man stood at the door turning people away who only wanted drinks. He told them that they were going to be too busy (being a Bank Holiday) to serve people who just wanted drinks. Luckily we wanted food so we were graciously allowed inside, and were very quickly shown to a table and furnished with menus. I've been to different Sambucca restaurants before, and this looked pretty much the same, with an old skool charm about it. It's also in a fantastic location, right there in the park. A waiter quickly came round for our drinks orders, we only ordered cokes, and they arrived soon after. They didn't taste great, maybe the syrups were off or something, but they didn't taste like coke. However, it was okay... Anyway, our food orders were taken, and as we waited, the restaurant did start to fill up a bit (both indoors and outdoors) but it never got "busy" the whole time we were there (maybe just over an hour). So, the people being turned away could easily have been sat, though I do understand that the restaurant wants to sell BOTH food and drink for coin. Our food, starters and main arrived and it all looked good, sadly, that's all it did, look good. The crispy squid with garlic mayo was spectacularly bland, even with the mayo, the prawn cocktail was better, and there was plenty of prawns, loads in fact. For our mains we shared a meat feast pizza. This was small compared to similar Italians like Francesca's in Jesmond, but, unlike Francesca, this too wasn't great. The chicken was a bit on the chewy side and a bit tasteless, the pepperoni was sparse but was fine, there was barely any ham too, but the sauce was actually ok, though it did seep into the base and rendered the pizza a bit soggy. All in all, the food was not good, in fact, we had to stop by a Greggs on the way home, and it is quite a thing to say that a Greggs sausage roll tasted superior to a pizza! That said, apart from the guy at the front sending people away, the staff were really excellent.

Nice atmosphere good food perfect service

Went here tonight with 8 friends to celebrate my birthday and I'm so so happy I did. The staff were just gorgeous, and attentive and hilarious and really made our night. The food was just lovely and the chef Riadh is a star! Would highly recommend this Sambuccas in the park.

Personally had a bad experience with the food as the pizza crust wasn’t original and homemade. My friends had a shared experience in this matter, with the ingredients used were quite bland or not very flavourful. This was about 2 years ago now during the winter months & I’m aware that others have had fantastic experiences more recently. Staff are friendly & helpful. Prices are very affordable. Value isn’t there in my personal experience however take this review with a pinch of salt as more recent reviews and regulars have changed my opinion somewhat. I have changed this to 3 stars now from 2 with considering other reviews. Will have to try again for an update on quality of food.

Wonderful place to dine, great service, and excellent coffee!

The experience was excellent as ever. I have been there lots of times in the past. I had a lunchtime special which is excellent value and comprised of potato skins and a Arrabiata without cream as I am vegan. My wife who is vegetarian had the ice cream and coffee. I always thoroughly enjoy my food there.

Staff were so friendly and welcoming, even when we turned up a bit late due to traffic. The food was beautiful and so reasonably priced, I highly recommend the Tagliatelle con Cozze, really tasty and my mum's chicken dish was beautifully presented with edible flowers on the plate. Although we were the last occupied table in the restaurant, the staff made a fuss of my birthday, singing happy birthday over dessert - very embarrassing but thoughtful too! I have missed the fun atmosphere of Sambucca's since our local Morpeth branch closed so am delighted to find a new one to visit. Great location in the Pavillion in Heaton Park too. We will definitely be back!

We met our daughter here as we live In Middlesbrough and she lives Newcastle. It was absolutely lovely. Friendly staff, quick service, excellent lunch time deal 3 course. Definitely recommend 👌

Lovely setting on a sunny day. Enjoyed sitting outside on the veranda and chatting to my friend. The food was good and served with great speed! The meal came just as I was finishing my starter! Potato skins with dip were lush! Service was a mix of over attentive and hap- hazard! We were given one menu between us at the start and offered deserts which were for another table at the end (without apology). We felt rushed, as various staff continuously asked us if we would like a coffee whilst we were trying to hold a conversation and enjoy our drinks. The manager was friendly, if a little over the top with his cheeky comments! We chose from the 3 course menu for £7.95 - sounds like a bargain but be sure to check your receipt, as we were overcharged for drinks (which were overpriced to start with). I didn’t realise until I looked later - we were charged an extra £8!

Ideal for a quick and inexpensive bite. Not a date destination!! Or insta venue. But that's a good thing

Been to Sambuca Heaton this afternoon with good friends for a nice catch up. Had fab food as always. The staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. They came over and chatted to us making jokes. Enjoyed the table in the sun which felt like being abroad. Will definitely be back soon. Thank you.
